My favorite is obstructed on catapults, even though my arrows are clearly hitting/going thru it (piercing arrows).
I personally like my drake name as its a pun to a terrible movie and the name of an epic nightfall GW1 quest that ofc involves Koss – Drake on a Plain.
Where’s the legendary? I mean, 15k achievement points is a lot of dailys/salvaging/jumping puzzles/dungeons/etc (possibly), thus money, so where’s the legendary?
The halloween was pretty much a human event. This one is asura. I hope we get an event with Charr as the focal point.
We had one of those in ascalon several hundred years ago. It wasn’t very pleasant.
They should do St. Patrick’s day event (if they do one) for Norn focused event. Earth day for Sylvari, looool. Not sure what a good Charr one would be.
OP, looks like some parts of the Crystal Desert from GW1 kinda, lol.
Its because most commanders are useless and only use it as a “hey, look at me, I spent 100g on something that is relatively useless”.
Human race most promiscuous/sluuty in an MMO – nothing new here, move along.
In all seriousness, I haven’t heard this either because I haven’t had my volume up or didn’t pay attention. I am mainly at the tailoring or artificing crafting stations while in Divinity’s (my human necro’s professions).
I’d like to see the main event in Harathi fail so I can experience it from the start. I’ve never experienced the event in Cursed Shore fail to the point of having to restart from Caer Shadowfin – that would be interesting to see. I guess the best bet would be to head over to an event you want to see from the start immediately after a server reset. I actually got to see centaur meta event in Gendarran fail enough to take over Ascalon settlement, which was rather interesting.
I wonder how Norn and Charr celebrate Wintersday – probably excessive spiked eggnog drinking is involved.
Sylvari probably decorate themselves to look like Christmas trees.
Oh, cool, they only care about the people doing Fractals – awesome.
I do play WvW sometimes. You could of explained that instead of saying “oh you don’t play WvW at all”. I suppose I could see that being a problem but why isn’t the zerg res’ing you before they move on, if they survive? That is poor attitude on the other players.
It wasn’t my zerg that ran over me and left me for dead.
Aion for one, and yes it causes bag space problems, but publishers love to sell bag space.
I’m assuming you were with a zerg on your team, and your zerg got some kills and thus loot, but the opposing zerg killed your zerg and you weren’t able to get all your loot. Otherwise, you were alone when you got ran over by a zerg, and well, if you’re in WvW alone, that’s slightly your fault if a zerg comes down upon you when solo and kills you instantly. That’s not the loot system’s fault. I understand what you mean, but who knows if they’ll change the system. There’s just a lot of things that remain unchanged that should have never made it into launch or should have been fixed 3 months in.
I didn’t play Aion, heard it wasn’t that great, so never got into it.
The only time I ever get decent drop rates is during the Gates of Arah event chain when it restarts fully. I generally get decent loot from other events, but well, it seems a lot of events are bugged throughout Orr thus no event kills and no loot. Solo farming has gotten to the point of being stupid. I get a lootable corpse maybe every 10 creatures (rarely every 5) killed, which is stupid.

I suppose I could see that being a problem but why isn’t the zerg res’ing you before they move on, if they survive? That is poor attitude on the other players. I have not experienced this issue, sorry. Can you give some examples of games where loot goes immediately into your bag? Wouldn’t that create problems if your bag was full? A lot of online games I’ve played, you have to pick up the loot yourself, either by clicking on the corpse or just picking up the item. Diablo 2, Diablo 3, Torchlight 2, WoW, and Guild Wars 1 are all like that. I have not actually played a game that the loot automatically appears in inv, unless you count badges/tokens from WoW dungeons and raids that get added to your count in your hero panel.

The escort events that take across the main path of Malchor’s Leap seem bugged. I usually see at least one part of that 3-part escort going at all times, but in the past several days, I have not seen any of them moving. This is on Jade Quarry. Anyone else noticing this?
What auto loot issue? Hitting F and getting the loot works for me. That’s the way it works in other MMOs too. You right-click lootable corpse, get loot. Auto loot just means no loot window comes up. So in that aspect, auto loot seems to be working as intended at least for me.
I find it more efficient to play alone, since I can go at my own speed and it helps me figure out my class better. When I have someone tagging along, enemies do die faster, but that prevents me from learning a new class efficiently. For events and farming, I do prefer groups since you seemingly get better loot, and for some events, groups are pretty much necessary. That being said, I wish my guild were more active, so I could run dungeons more often.
Here is one I’m not even sure anyone asked but that is near and dear to my heart:
Why did you give us the fantastic option to play with others in PVE and WvW without having to team up, then make it impossible to get decent loot unless we team up?
I didn’t even think of that, but that is a great question, lol. The best loot I get anymore is the entire Gates of Arah chain. Last night, after doing everything, I ended up with 5 rares, 22 masterworks, and 1 exotic in addition to other stuff. I think 3/5 rares, probably 12-16/22 masterworks and the exotic were from that chain alone. I was partied with 2 other guild people. The other stuff I got from farming elementals at Lyssa’s temple – didn’t get any lodestones though, meh.
Yeah, I have bought 2 additional bank tabs and I am ok with space for now, but just annoying that something that was in GW1 (storage for both basic materials AND rare materials) is not in GW2. Even the craftsman bags treat the lodestones, etc as crafting materials.
Cod, your signature is amazing, because its true. Lodestones have a horrible drop rate.
I am slightly disappointed that one question someone asked that would of required a simple ‘yes’ or ‘no’ didn’t get answered. It wasn’t my question but it was a question that was exactly what I was going to ask. I even PM’ed LoreChief to add my question to the document, but I guess it didn’t get in there. 75% of the questions answered were about the dang ascended gear – do you all seriously need the same question answered 50x?
Now, my question has been asked by several people on the forums and STILL has not gotten an answer. A simple yes or no from a Dev would suffice…
Is there going to be additional crafting material storage for new cooking ingredients, fine crafting materials and rare crafting materials (lodestones, cores, etc)? I would really like to free up 16 bank slots that are being taken up by materials that should have a slot in the material storage.
Now that the ascended gear question got answered 50x, can we please get an answer to this one simple question….
Yeah, I’m being somewhat mean with this post, but just getting annoyed that a simple question cannot get answered when a question about a infinitesimal stat increase gets answered more than it needed to, simply because you all apparently cannot read what Chris said several times throughout the AMA.
I’m fairly positive karma vendors in Southsun Cove sell orichalcum tools.
I vote no. I don’t run dungeons and I don’t want my sword a year from now still being just a few stats. I want it to shoot dragons out my butt or something cool like that. You want boring items forever then go play diablo 3. If your sever is barren come join stormbluff cause the game is as popular as ever here…….
WoW and Rift do this just fine they are advertised as vertical progression games and do it well.
Gw2 was not advertised as such and we all knew this coming into the game if u liked vertical progression “gear grinds” so much why did u even bother with Gw2.
Ascended gear isn’t even useful, compare it to your total stats, not just a like item of exotic, and you find you only gain a 1% increase, if you have all 3 ascended items equipped, this will not change a thing, and is not the same as powercreep. It’s simply not worth the cost, unless you want to run fractals over and over again.
Not only this, but ascended gear also isn’t worth it because the amount of mats you need. 1 vial of condensed mist, 240 philosopher’s stones, 50 ecto, 250 T6 mat for a back item – yeah, that’s a grind I am not willing to do particularly and a grind for a small increase in stats.
Comparing a rare guild backpack with berserker’s stats and exquisite ruby gem to the quiver of swift flight, you get the following:
Rare guild back
*20 pwr
*14 prec
*1% crit dmg(from gem)
*25 pwr
*15 prec
*3% crit dmgno infusion slot
Ascended quiver
24 pwr
17 prec
1% crit dmg(from second stats where gem would be in exotic or below)
32 pwr
18 prec
4% crit dmgoffensive infusion slot
Let’s just say you have the vial, 240 philosopher stones, and 50 ecto, but need the 250 powerful blood. Right now , 250 powerful blood is 25 silver per about in the TP. Is 62g50s really worth this small increase in stats? I don’t think so.
I’m using the berserker back piece as an example because apparently players don’t realize there’s other decent stats in the game and easier to get materials. The ascended back that requires ancient bone is more plausible since bone drops a crapton in Orr and it will balance out a full berserker set with some condition dmg and toughness.
You can get 250 ancient bone for like, 6 -7 gold I believe, which means the Ascended backpiece is now a crap load cheaper than if you went for Koss on Koss, which cost something like 30 gold just for the Vicious Fangs, the ectos will remain the only cost prohibitive component.
There’s an equivalent backpiece that is like Koss on Koss but its the same stats as the quiver that uses ancient bone.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Tome_of_the_Rubicon – this one
I was saying in my post that its more cost efficient to just get the quiver/book that requires ancient bone since ancient bone are more plentiful and cheaper, but most players must think that the only good stat combination is power, precision and crit damage. That’s not necessarily true. Yeah pure power or precision is great for a pure glass cannon build, but good luck having any survivability. I’d rather have some balance in my gear, so the ancient bone quiver/book is perfect and won’t cost 62 gold if I decide to get an ascended back piece.
I PM’ed you my question, LoreChief. Thanks!

For now, sell your mats! Make money off the demand!
This is pretty much what I am doing. I am also going for the mystic forge ascended back piece that requires ancient bone, since you get those dime-a-dozen in Orr. I don’t really care if the ancient bone ascended back piece doesn’t give berserker stats. I am perfectly ok with not buying/farming powerful blood that are going for ~25s per and just selling them. I am also ok with the endless quiver’s condition damage, precision, toughness stats to balance out my armor.
Nothing on extra material storage, which is probably never going to happen. I have a feeling that even if I bought every bank tab, I’d still run out of room because there’s a lot of armor/weapon skins I like….and being able to put my rare crafting mats in the collection tab would allow me to put 2 full sets of armor in my bank currently.
So about that precursor scavenger hunt…that ever going to happen or was that more false information given to us by ANet?
Ever since I changed my email to one that was different from my original GW email, I have not been getting news email. I did this around launch and that’s when the emails stopped coming. My old, original email account I used for GW is deactivated. I set my account to my newer gmail account, but have not gotten any emails regarding GW2 news, etc since this change back in August. Is there a way to fix this?
The post I made in Lost Shores is closed.
I would really like to get a dev response on rare crafting material storage, in addition to storage from events (for example passion fruit and karka shells). There’s several threads open in various forms on this and none of them have gotten a dev response. Please let us know if there’s any plans to implement more collection tabs for rare crafting materials, etc.
Can’t the tabs only hold 250 of one item? So you save exactly one bank slot? Not exactly extraordinary.
So what you’re saying is you already have 250 destroyer slivers, fragments, shards, cores, lodestones and every other type of rare crafting material, thus you would have to filter into your bank slots to hold any extras?
Right now, as it stands, you have to put any of those materials in your bank slots. I have 16 bank slots dedicated to various vile essence, destroyer, glacial, corrupted, etc mats. With rare crafting material storage, I would be able to gain 16 bank slots because those mats would go in their own space. So tell me more how this wouldn’t be useful. I really shouldn’t have had to explain that…
I noticed they did add some collectables slots for some of the items used for acended gear already so I’m not sure more will be coming for the Karka and Passionfruit.
Eh? Where? I don’t see anything like that.
I talked to a content designer in game last night before going to sleep and asked her about rare/the new crafting materials storage and her response was “I hope so! I am running out of bank space.” and asked her to look into it for us. I am not sure if anything will come out of that, but it was worth a shot.
Please let us know if there’s a plan for this or not devs. Thanks.
Here’s mine.
Fractals dungeon – I haven’t done this yet, since I don’t really run dungeons due to lack of guild activity. I did, however, witness a person that crashed out of the fractal he was in and landed in LA near the bank dead.
Gear treadmill – I’m neutral about the new tier of gear, but the grind to get some of the new pieces is ridiculous – 240 philosopher stones, 50 ecto, 250 t6 mats (which drop rarely) for one of the back pieces. Then 250 karka shells and 100 t6 mats for a blue infusion…yeah gg. Legendary grind is optional, this is required to do the later difficulties of the dungeon – make it less grindy.
Events – Phase 1 was broken, but I was eventually able to complete it. Phase 2 was somewhat interesting, just involved making some bases in the new zone. Phase 3 had its ups and downs for me. The ancient karka fight was a lagfest full of invisible karka that resulted in multiple wipes to the point I said screw repairing because I had a instant repair kit back in the bank, so I just did the final portion of ancient karka fight with only gloves. The reinforcement parts were very boring of the fight, but the other bits had some interesting mechanics, like the launching boulders via steam vents. Also, for some reason, the 2nd reinforcement part, I was completely lagged and couldn’t do anything. After that, however, I went back to normal latency. The loot was alright – sold the 2 exotics for 3g roughly…mainly liked the 20 slot bag and triforge-like ring really. I don’t really care about legendaries, so not getting a precursor really didn’t bother me. While it didn’t happen to me, it is rather BS that people got kicked out of event when you pushed the new build – not much I can say about that because just like you haven’t listened to previous complaints, you won’t listen to those complaints.
Lore – WTF was the lore of the karka? I read they got pushed up from the depths somehow and that they are an ancient creature, back when “the world was ‘emptier’ and the contents shaped differently”. Ok, so what does that mean? Did a dragon force them from the depths? And what does this mean – “A one-time weekend-long event that permanently changes the world in some places.” How did Tyria change? Maybe I just haven’t explored certain zones after the event was over, but what does this mean or was it just being used as an advertisement? Wait, was the lighthouse in LA the big permanent change, because if so, that’s not much?
New zone – Kinda boring now. There’s that shark event, the collection for consortium items, the collection for karka eggs, and the lionguard patrol even. Aside from farming passion fruit and karka shells, will there be anything added to the zone later?
New jumping puzzles – no complaints here – clock tower was the most difficult one I experienced and I was able to get passed that one.
(edited by Magiofdeath.2745)
Aside from the event and farming karka shells, passion fruit, mithril, elder wood, orichalcium, ancient wood, what else are you all doing in the new zone?
Aside from the lag, this fight was much better than Zhaitan. Lol. The reinforcement parts were super boring though.
Please allow me to pay 400-600 gems for a “rare crafting items” tab in collections. I just dont want it to clutter the regular bank slots.
Crap, I would do this. I would pay for that, since you know, they prob won’t give it for free.
I am just curious nor am I against buying more bank slots, but is there plans to add a collection slot for passion fruit, karka shells, and rare crafting materials (lodestones, cores, etc)?
Thanks.
Oh, I thought there was something more lore-wise.
Is there still more we don’t know about? How will this change Tyria permanently? Or did they just mean adding the new zone with that?
The grind for an infusion slot upgrade and a back piece are stupid.
250 shells is a little ridiculous seeing how often they drop from karka. 50 ecto, meh. 250 t6 mat, meh. Unless you buy them from the TP, there’s no real reliable way to get these mats.
I farm Orr a lot as a ranger. I generally go down there to complete my daily achievement events, then go to northern Straits to finish off the kill variety.
This has been happening since launch. In large groups, I attack a veteran the entire time from full to 0 hp and don’t get exp or loot. This isn’t just happening to this content. It happens when there’s a lot of players doing the same event. I’ve had it happen to me in cursed shores during plinx event several times.
“every champion should be guaranteed to drop loot”
I’ve killed several champions now that haven’t dropped any loot. This may have already been brought up, but I figured I’d bring up my own experience.
The karka events are stupid. You can’t see them and it just feels like Cursed Shore 2.0 because there’s so much AoE going off, its ridiculous.
Sometimes I wonder if other MMO’s way of doing quests was better – yeah the enemies were standing around, but you at least knew wtf to do and you could see them, and you generally always got full credit because each player would get the quest in their quest log.
Also, the fractal bags are meh. Oh yay, I get to have a 20 slot bag that puts exotics before anything else in it..yeah, I haven’t gotten one exotic as a drop ever in this game.
I didn’t see the karka attack because I was still at work. I was kinda expecting to die when I logged in (I always log out for the day in LA) or see a crapton of damage done to LA. Only the lighthouse is damaged. Kinda anti-climatic.
So the island skins are available without buying chests? I ask because the mystic forge recipe requires the island skins.
I’m glad I strayed away from Wilderness Survival on my ranger, seeing how bad cond dmg ended up being. I swapped over those 30 pts to Skirmishing because throwing traps and having reduced cooldown on traps is nice. I go with rampager’s armor, and eventually will make coral exotic jewelry set, because I want to see how high crit can go with full set and full stack of superior perception sigil.
He finally ate his bowl of Ascalonian Wheaties? Screw the karka, I’m going to check out the Shatterer this evening, to only fail because everyone will be in LA, lol.
It’s like they really have no idea how to make something not cost a stupid amount of grind and farmed mats, jesus.
Its almost as if they are new to the MMO scene…oh wait…
Hope Leviathans do more than just take a beating in this version… (and how did they get there in the first place?)
What leviathans?
And people still won’t see the huge grind in this game…
I’m noticing. If every ascended item is a 1/4 legendary grind, I won’t do the new dungeon. I don’t do any dungeons now, due to inactive guild, so yeah.
I wonder why every mystic forge recipe has to involve some ridiculous grind. Even upgrading mats is kind of a grind. Put 250 silk, 1 gossamer, 5 crystalline dust, 5 philosopher’s stones in, get a net of 19 or less gossamer scrap out (if you get 20, you actually get +19 since you had to use 1 gossamer in the recipe).
