This would be very nice. There’s a achievement for getting all the cultural armors but where do they expect us to put all the cultural armors we’ve bought? I don’t have 5 different trait specs to warrant 5 armor sets, so a pve locker that would work similar to the hall of monuments transmutation skins would be very useful. I wish a developer would respond to this suggestion since there have been multiple threads in regards to this.
Male IRL, 3 females, 2 males so far.
Norn female ranger – Played Amazon in Diablo 2, so ranger characters being female just stuck that way since Diablo 2.
Human female necro – Made a GW1 variant of Schala Zeal from Chrono Trigger (dark magic) but had to go with a translated version of ‘Zeal’ for last name. When GW2 came out, I told myself I wouldn’t use character names from other games, but tried to name GW2 Necro Schala Zeal, so ofc made it female, but name was taken so borrowed my GW1 rit’s name instead.
Sylvari female ele – Male sylvari looked weird to me.
Male Charr engineer – I wanted to play a wild cat, not a house cat. Yes, the female Charr look kinda docile.
Male Asura guardian – Dunno why I chose male over female here really.
Where do you get the rest of the set? I got the slippers. I already searched the forums but didn’t find a solid answer. Some say the labyrinth and some say the dungeon. Obviously, there’s the TP but yeah, would like to save my gold. So anyone have a solid answer to this? Thanks in advance.
Grats man. It took me 8-9 hrs total and taking a 2 day break from it before I decided to try again just now and made it on my 5th attempt.
Tried it on my Norn for ~7-8 hrs total Friday and Saturday, didn’t get it – gave up completely. Then I watched some videos past couple of days and decided to try again and got it on 5th attempt today.
Human
Necro
No speed buffs
I dunno if they changed the difficulty or whether it was me being dumb the first 7-8 hours or maybe I just needed a few days break from it to give it a fresh start.
We got different definitions of fun.
For me challenges are fun.
Guess for most people who ever played SNES its is.
Ages ago when games weren’t easy as hell…
Finished it with 4 different characters already.
I love it
Kinda related to your post. I played Mario 64, and beat it and got 120 stars, blah blah. That was pretty hard to do. The tower, though, seems harder than Mario 64. I almost need a video game console controller to do it. Mario 64’s camera was pretty bad too, but GW2’s camera in this case is worse. I am just not good at turning the camera and jumping at the same time for this puzzle which is required to do precisely. Crap, I played Super Meat Boy and A+’ed every stage except for one in chapter 6 and a lot in chapter 7…THAT was easier than this, because I was able to do it. I just can’t do this at all. Tried on a human and tried on a norn, nope. I get to the part where you have to jump down to the gear with the chest on it (long fall) but the vortex is covering it so its game over. No, I am not asking that they change the difficulty of this…I just won’t do it. That’s just one achievement and some magic find boots that have no unique skin that I will be missing out on. No biggie. The other jumping puzzles are much more doable for me, so I’ll just do those. I may still try this one some the remaining days, but I prob will not succeed at it at all.
AGAIN, I AM NOT ASKING TO CHANGE THE DIFFICULTY. I mean the delay waiting for the rubble to come out of the wall is the main reason you have to rush, and if that delay got reduced, it may be doable by a higher % of people, but I’d prefer them to not change anything.
Its uncontested on Jade Quarry…for now.
Agree completely to this, but there’s been numerous threads about this and no dev response to a permanent fix or anything. Its very disappointing.
A reply from ANet would be nice…
So with this idea, the elementalist who hits meteor shower once will get better contributor rank compared to the shortbow ranger that hits all of their skill buttons (that’s how I play my ranger..longbow is meh) – yeah, bad idea.
When I get the same or more loot of the same or higher quality from just killing things in Orr that are in the way of ore nodes and saplings, and in the same or less time to boot, the dragons need to have their loot boosted up. They are, quite literally, not worth the time it takes to do them.
Agreed.
At least you get loot from those events. Even if I put traps down and use my other AoE as a ranger, I rarely get credit for kills, especially veterans that I had been attacking from full health to 0.
Oh, because before it would always say one of these 4 and since another invasion force was bugged, the event didn’t progress…
“Reinforcements from the central invasion have arrived at the Pact rally point. Pact forces are awaiting additional reinforcements from the northern invasion.”
“Reinforcements from the northern invasion have arrived at the Pact rally point. Pact forces are awaiting additional reinforcements from the southern invasion.”
“Reinforcements from the central and northern invasions have arrived at the Pact rally point. Pact forces are awaiting additional reinforcements from the southern invasion.”
“Reinforcements from the northern and southern invasion have arrived at the Pact rally point. Pact forces are awaiting additional reinforcements from the central invasion.”
Now, I rarely see those messages and only see one of the escorts happen before the main assault takes place. I’m not complaining, just weird. Not that it maters, we apparently have difficulty defeating Balthazar on JQ.
No, what’s annoying is those two kids outside of the bank especially when the sound bugs and they are louder than normal. “Ahhh, monsters!” I’ve only heard that hundreds of times.
They are still better than Traeherne’s lack of personality though. Speaking of that, please let us get a new NPC for the other elder dragons. I vote Jora’s descendant for Jormag.
They supposedly made defending Arah gates and Melandru’s temple harder after multiple attempts. How did they make it more difficult, anyone know?
Did ANet change the reqs for this meta event? It seems like the assault on the temple will trigger if one invasion force makes it to the rally point instead of all 3. I am just curious, because if it is indeed this way, I guess that was the solution due to one of the 3 chains always bugging out and thus breaking the entire chain to take Balth’s temple.
But drop rate of Black Lion Chests is really low.. even keys are hard to get, and you don’t get valuable things from them most of the time.
Uhm, then you can have my droprate chances of BLCs, because I get them all the freakin time. I have 93 in my bank currently. Obviously I don’t get that many keys.
Same thing happening here. I have had flawless connection until now.
Fairly basic suggestion – introduce a rare crafting material storage section in the collections tab. There’s one for fine crafting materials and all types of gems so why not for rare crafting materials (lodestones, etc)?
I think this would be very useful.
In yesterday’s update, it mentioned increased time between Arah and Melandru Temple defense events and increased difficulty with more attempts. How long did they increase the length of time between each attempt and how did they increase difficulty? I’ve been killing earth eles for the past half hour and the event hasn’t come up yet.
I experienced this a few weeks ago. Are you doing the PS with anyone or just alone? If you’re doing with others, try going alone. I had someone in my guild that whenever he was in party, it would do the same thing you’re experiencing to me. I am not sure what caused this. I figure this won’t help you much, but thought I’d share my experience with this PS.
Ok, so you get the gifts and then what? Have any rich players delved beyond making the gift part to figure out the actual way to make the weapon or is it not worth the time? Lol.
Do the haunted doors only appear in Kryta zones or are they appearing all over Tyria?
Is there a recipe for these weapons (the NON-BLC weapons) or is there only a recipe for the gift known so far?
Chattering skull + candy corn + iron ingot + ???? makes something. I couldn’t figure out that last component though. This for leatherworking 75.
The second leg of the escort across Malchor’s Leap is bugged. The lead named NPC is trying to revive a non-existent NPC or player. You can see her kneeling down and then getting back up immediately. This is breaking the entire chain of events and no new escorts occur because of it. This is on Jade Quarry server, please fix.
Is there a list anywhere of what PvP armors skin’s/weapon’s equivalent is in PvE? For example, medium rugged set in the pvp locker is the karma armor set in Orr. Anyone have a link for a full list of this? Thank you.

Ok, offtopic, but wtf does kitteny mean? Same thing as carebear? I haven’t seen that word until these forums. It sounds silly.

Orbs can be made via jewelcrafting fairly easily. 2 crystals, 5 tier 5 dust per orb. Crystals drop more frequently than crystalline dust and I get a boatload of tier 5 dust. :P I get really lucky with crystals for some reason. I just don’t understand why a fine crafting material is so rare to find.
I suppose if you look at it that way Morrigan, then yes, it is the ‘legendary’ of amulets. What about the foefire’s essence though? :P I don’t plan on getting that though, stats are meh.
Not really anxiety over the time it takes, moreso annoyed with somewhat false information. There is a huge grind in this game and pre-release, we were told there would be little grind. I expected them to not completely get rid of the grind, but wasn’t expecting some of the levels of grind currently present tbh. Like I said, I’d be fine with it if legendarys weren’t basically exotics with different skins. I gave a horrible example with the amulet, because that is a true ‘legendary’ of the general definition of a mmo legendary, since it offers significantly better stats than any other amulet.

I agree, exotic crafted armor/weapons are fairly easy to obtain. Some of the mystic forge non-legendarys are moderately easy to obtain (except foefire’s essence and a few others – a little bit more work than moderate involved). I guess, personally, at this point in time, I can’t see spending the grind for a legendary since not stat-wise better than exotics. I’ll just spend that time grinding for the Triforce instead, heh. I’ll be jealous of Link by the time its over though, since he was able to obtain the Triforce more easily.

So what? It means there’s a lot more grind in this game, which they kept on saying pre-release that there wouldn’t be a lot of grind. They said the same thing with GW1, even for the rarest items, and it ended up being true (there was only a moderate amount of grind). 37.5 months for 1 amulet? That’s a little ridiculous and a bit heavy on the grind side IMO. I’d find the grind acceptable if things like legendarys were actually significantly better stat wise than exotics. Multiple years to make and I have a bow that shoots rainbows, cool (example, since my main is a ranger and I primarily use shortbow). I was under the impression pre-release that legendarys were going to be better stat wise than exotics.

Except I played GW1 (a more casual friendly game of the same series) as much as I play GW2 probably, and was able to obtain the rarest items in less than 37.5 months. Just saying.
Yes, I said 2 months also – learn to read much? I said 37.5 months, which is basically the time it would take me to get the item I used as an example. 37.5 months is way more than 2 months. Thanks for the sarcasm though. Much appreciated.

Fair enough. So really, getting the more unique items caters to those that can spend hours on end playing, and who don’t have to work 40+ hours a week or they do, and just don’t like to sleep. I’ve never played a game that had this much grind in it. GW1 had less. Its been a month and a half and I’ve gotten I think 17 crystalline dust? Lets round up and say 20 in a month – 37.5 months to get 750. I guess I’ll stick with my non mystic forge exotics since well, mystic forge recipes are just for look, and don’t actually offer better stats (except the triforge pendant since you can’t get a amulet with all stats via crafting). I know GW1 was the same way, but it was more attainable. I didn’t mind buying mats in GW1 because you could easily make 5k a day from casual play. Do casual play in GW2, you might make 2k copper or 2g.
By casual play, I mean doing the Zaishen dailys and maybe something else. Doing daily achievements in GW2 gets me a little over 500 copper or 5 silver (5 silver guaranteed from completing daily achievements).

I would trade if there was a direct way to trade. If I could trade x many tier 5 mats for y many tier 6 mats instead of using the TP I would. No player will want to do it that way though since there is no actual trading system in game. Mail is not a trustworthy way to trade mats for mats. With the TP, you have to use coin as a middleman to trade mats for mats.
Its not trading when you buy them from the TP. That’s buying them, not trading, huge difference.
Other games I’ve played, you could get the best crafted equipment strictly via getting the mats as drops because they had a fair drop rate. Farming mobs for hours on end and getting only a few materials is not a fair drop rate. In these other games, I didn’t have to visit the auction house or buy them. I was able to gather the materials in a decent amount of time and make it. Getting 750 crystalline dust would take at least 6 months with the time I am able to play. That’s unrealistic.
If I could trade a player 500 tier 5 mats for 250 tier 6 mats WITHOUT buying them, I would, but you can’t. There’s no trade window system and you’re telling me you would trust me via the mail system to give you 500 tier 5 mats and you would expect me to trust you to give me 250 tier 6 mats in return? Yeah, doesn’t work that way, sorry.

I’ve been curious for a while. What is ANet’s efficient method for players to get some of the mats for some of the mystic forge exotics. For example, the Triforge pendant requires 750 gold ore, 750 piles of crystalline dust, 250 ruby orbs, 250 sapphire orbs, 250 emerald orbs. The gold ore isn’t really a problem.
For the crystalline dust, is ANet’s suggested method to “farm” the trading post or do we farm the mobs in Orr until we either get enough incandescent dust to upgrade to 750 crystalline dust or hope to get lucky with crystalline dust drops period. I’m not finding fault, but to me, the method they are suggesting is to “farm” the trading post, due to the dropratess of crystalline dust and other tier 6 mats being so rare. If this is the suggested method…while I don’t find fault with it, it seems counter-productive since you should theoretically be able to farm the mats efficiently to make some of these items. I don’t want to have to “farm” the TP to get tier 6 mats – they should be available to players at an efficient rate that doesn’t resort to having to buy them. This goes with all tier 6 mats – powerful venom sacs seem even rarer than crystalline dust does.
This happened a couple weeks ago – I ask in Cursed Shore map chat where the best place to get powerful venom sacs is and multiple people said the trading post in reply, which IMO just seems weird. Is this how its supposed to be, kinda forcing players to buy these mats from the TP if they want these unique items? If it is, then I’ll deal with it, but I really hope its not.
Legendarys should provide a significant stat boost from exotics, due to the amount of grind you have do to get them. They are just cosmetic weapons, which I guess is cool, but due to the amount of time spent getting them compared to crafting an exotic, they should have higher damage or better stats.
Yes, this is very annoying, please fix.
I’m on JQ as well. Temple of Balthazar event bugs in at least 2 days. Multiple starter/early zone events/skill challenges that were working more or less fine at launch are now bugging consistently. This really needs to be fixed, or like the above poster said, we’re going to have another ToR on our hands and it hasn’t even been half a year yet…ToR at least maybe 3/4s of a year. Meh, I guess this is the kind of quality you get from a Korean influenced F2P MMO.
This post needs to consistently be at the top as often as the bugs are consistently coming back after a supposed fix.
(edited by Magiofdeath.2745)
I’ve been noticing this a lot lately.
I will be doing a event where there’s a lot of people and will participate in killing a veteran mob from 100% to 0 and not get any credit, thus no chance of loot. I will then kill a normal mob from say 50-25% to 0 and get credit and possible loot. Why is this happening…its very annoying. It only happens in events where there’s a crapton of people.
2nd – I know this doesn’t belong here, but still it seems to not be functioning correctly. The downed ranger skill where the pet revives you doesn’t seem to work at all anymore. The pet will come over and stand near you but you won’t get healed. Is there a condition now that needs to be met for this to work?
I am noticing a lot of things that WERE working at launch are now broken – early zone skill points, skills period, events. Is there a known fix being planned for all of this? Why is there new, expansive (Halloween) content being made when original content and the game in general is not working as it should? Its been over a month and there’s more bugs now than there were at launch. Please fix existing content before making new content.
As I write this post, the Claw of Jormag is bugged on Jade Quarry. He is not making any ice shields and he isn’t targetable. He is slowly losing health though.
Please fix existing content. Thanks.
Remember to keep it friendly and refrain from being rude or insulting your opponents in here folks.

I’m sorry if I offended anyone on here.
I have come to learn that JQ and I have the same goals in this game to be number one.
So I have joined JQ to help them out on their goal of being the best.
I hope my new brothers in arms and I can become good friends.
Fair weather fan much?
Man, there’s a lot of QQ going on in this thread.
Anyways, thank you JQ WvW’ers, I am enjoying my buffs. Keep up the great work!
I chose JQ to play with friends and pre-launch fan polls had JQ at equal amounts of PvE and PvP players. I am not sure how accurate that ever was or how accurate it is now, but I enjoy this server.
They just need to get rid of DRs period. “Oh no, players are gaining 300 karma per event, that’s bad” is what their current thought process is. Its not like events ever gave an appropriate amount of karma or coin to begin with. I was expecting at least 10-15 silver per lvl 70+ event, but we get 1 silver…yeah gg.
10 silver is way to much. Everyone would be walking around with the “The Emperor” title in 2 weeks.
This is true if players went with tier 1 set only – which I’m sure there’s plenty that would do that just to get the achievement. There’s other players (such as myself) that prefer above Tier 1 of the cultural armor and well, Tier 2 is I think 10g total then there’s Tier 3 which is 120g total? Ok, maybe not 10 silver, but 1 silver when that gain is nullified by waypoint travel, yeah, pointless. 3 silver at least to be able to not lose coin from travelling or keep it the same, and don’t have WP travel scale with character level.

Dear Anet, please take control of your game back. I just feel there’s a lot of publisher influence going on here.
I mean crap, not meaning to compare, but its the only other large MMO I’ve played, but did Blizzard penalize you for doing daily quest after daily quest by reducing the amount of gold or reward you got? No. In fact, they increased the cap. If you did 25 events (the daily event cap when I quit WoW last years) in succession in GW2, your karma reward would not be what it should be and this is dumb. I’d hate to say it, but there’s a reason why WoW’s been around as long as it has. I feel that if GW2 does not change its ways, it will become a Korean botter’s game. I’m really not trying to bash the game, because I do enjoy it, but the DRs, bugs and grind really are starting to kill it for me.
(edited by Magiofdeath.2745)
Yeah, I will probably not stick around long if everything is not fixed by Christmas. I’m just tired of the bugs, the lack of loot at times, the terrible event coin reward to travel cost ratio (do one event, get 2 silver, traveling generally costs 1.5 silver…yeahhhh), the DRs on dungeons/events, and others. They have a huge list of crap to get for legendarys. How do they expect us to get legendarys, let alone the dungeon unique armor sets if we are going to get DRs all over the dang place.
I was a huge fan of Guildwars1 – I didn’t get GWAMM and 50/50 just so I could get a title and other things, I actually thoroughly enjoyed GW1. Right now, I cannot say I enjoy GW2 as much as GW1 because of the above list I just mentioned. That, and this game is way more of a grind than GW1 ever was. They really need to tone down on the grind and just generally fix the game.
I actually did not pay attention to this because I figured why would they do something like this? Diminished returns on events is just silly (but so is DR on dungeons). This behavior is not Arenanet – I don’t remember anything like this in GW1. I believe NCSoft is pulling a lot more strings in GW2 than they did in GW1 and I am not a fan of this. GW1 was not like this. DRs on dungeons and events, the small amount of coin you get from even lvl 80 events, the amount of times you get nothing for loot, yeah (his one was only slightly present in GW1 in the form of getting more gold piles and less items with heros – hey, you at least got gold – you farm alone in GW2, you get nothing a lot)….yeah, this is NCSoft’s doing I bet.
Heh, on Jade Quarry, the event actually succeeded after 3 weeks. I wonder if its now broken though.
For those going for legendarys (who is crazy enough to do that?), this event being bugged really hurts them, since the karma vendor for Temple of Balthazar is the one that sells obsidian shards.
I’ve been hearing that players are bugging skill challenges by knocking back the foes in the ones that involve killing something. If this is true, please cut that crap out. You’re not funny and its REALLY annoying. I’ve heard numerous people say that the reason some skill challenges bug is because players will knock back enemies behind something that you can not access such as a gate or door.
If this is not the case, why do they bug so often? I think the reports that this is player caused do have merit, because the earlier zones are even getting bugged skill challenges when they didn’t before.
Regardless, this needs to be fixed. The skill challenge in Malchor’s Leap is STILL bugged, and now I am running into at least one skill challenge per zone that’s bugged. Please fix or players need to stop being morons.
I just did the Claw of Jormag event and bought some of the corrupted recipes. They required corrupted lodestones and etched shaman’s skin of whatever weapon. Where do you get the shaman’s etched skins to make the corrupted skin?
Meta Event Name: Temple of Balthazar
Objective text for the stuck event: Reinforcements from the central and northern invasions have arrived at the Pact rally point. Pact forces are awaiting additional reinforcements from the southern invasion.
Date when you encountered the block: Earlier than 10:20 PM EST on Tuesday, Sept 25.
Additional info: Defense of lone post succeeds, but nothing else happens. I’m not sure if the events through the catacombs are part of this. The catacombs chain did succeed at one point, but I still think the event said waiting for reinforcements from southern invasion.
Server: Jade Quarry
Same problem on Jade Quarry server as well.
