Typically the rules for timing these things (among the GW2 dungeon community — check out the similar posts on this forum) is to start the timer when the enemy first takes damage. That way we’re actually measuring the time taken to actually fight the boss, and it makes an easier comparison of times. Otherwise, the records just become a contest to see who can stack might the fastest ;-)
Considering the might is used to kill the boss faster, its part of the killing process in my honest opinion. So buffing should be included in the counter.
Is it worth though? You get to see a number and that’s it. You can’t compare it with other people because rarely anyone uses a DPS meter.
It doesn’t show personal but rather party-wide dps.
Meta party – 45k – 100k dps
Decent party – 35k – 45k dps
Decent pug – 25k – 30k dps
PHIW pugs – 10k – 20k dpsIn fact, I may argue, party-wide dps is much more important than your personal dps. The goal for the a dungeon run is to get maximum party dps after all, not just min/max your own output.
So basically the tool just reads the mob health from the system memory and takes the delta health of them. Eg. at second 0 it had 1m hp and second 1 it had 950k so your party dps would be 50k for that second.

Well its not really 10.377 seconds. You need to include the time you used to stack boons. Otherwise the time is fake.
I think its perfectly fair that playing more = more/better rewards.
This system also punishes leaderboard camping.

that’s ~300g in alphas on the TP.
All it requires is a click-fest at the siege-merchant, that you can complete in 5min if you align the confirmation-prompt with the alphas in the vendor-window.

1 golem = 51s 99c
taxes = 15% total
result: 132g 57s 45c
I would save the 30k badges for the future instead of wasting them for a mere 132g.
And 132g is actually a good price for Alpha Golems. Due to something that looks like price manipulation to me, they almost doubled in price over the last 30 days.
They’re going to have to bring new toys for us to make. The ones from last year are available in the gem shop, so the toymaker title would be irrelevant this year unless we got new ones.
They were in gemshop 2012 and 2013, too. We have yet to see if there will be a way to craft them, too.

I have a question: I reached the 10k daily cap months ago, will all the extra dailies I completed after the 10k count towards the new cap of 15k or are all the additional dailies I completed lost?

I like this change, because now I can continue to ignore the WvW and PvP dailies like I did before, but then again, I didn’t really care about getting the max every single day, just completing the daily. Now if they want they can eliminate the max cap on the dailies, I did the calculation and it would only have taken someone 833+ days(2.2+ years) to reach the total daily max, at which point you would no longer have incentive to do them.
Remember though when dailies where first in game they used to give 5 AP’s per each completed one, not 1AP,
Also it never took me 4-6 hours to do them, even in the very early days it would only take you 45mins to an hour,
They where capped hard because the ultra casuals could not keep up with the players who play daily, so the players who play daily got the beat down, and ever since Anet has been playing and changing the game for the ultra casuals, everyone else go home.
They need a DYNAMIC cap, if they don’t, when I hit the Daily cap for AP, ill just leave and go play elsewhere, but each to there own, AP is not a sign of skill, but some of us use it for fun between friends, stop the fun, stop playing.
Yes, they took 4-6 hours at one point in time. You could get 2 WvW Rank ups + 5 SoloQ wins + 3 TeamQ wins as the daily. If you assume 50% win rate that is 16 games played per day of sPvP per day = 4 hours if you manage one game every 15min.
I never understood why people rushed to do EVERY single daily when there is a cap on the points anyway?
The cap was introduced because at one point in time it took 4-6 hours to do all of them every day. It took them quite a while to add it and I was almost capped by the time Anet released the cap. Anet reduced the required time significantly after also adding a cap, so reducing the time it takes to get all daily AP even further was unneccessary.
It won’t get any more casual than GW2.
Maybe – just maybe – you should look for something more appropriate for your playstyle…
Sadly you are right, I tried Wildstar for two months but the game feels very missmanaged and lacks content for its 9 years development time. And there is nothing interesting on the horizon for me, the old days where games were complex and difficult seem to be gone. Even singleplayer games on maximum difficulty are too easy nowadays.
A game that requires 4-6 hours of play per day is simply not healthy. That’s 28-42 hours a week — as much as many full-time jobs!
It was not required, only if you wanted to max out your achievement points. It is good enough now at is is. You can get all 12 daily achievement points in an hour if you optimize your shedule. No need to make it even easier.
I mean they are called achievement points and every time anet updates something they seem to degenerate the meaning of the term achievement lol.
This new daily/monthly achievement system is another huge slap in the face for longtime veteran achievement hunters.
Now you only need to do 3 dailies per day for 10 AP, before the daily cap people like me often spent several hours (4-6h per day at peak when the 5 soloQ and 3 teamQ dailies existed) each and every day just to get all the dailies done every day. And now every casual who logs in for 10 minutes can easily max their AP without any kind of effort.
Stop catering to the ultra casuals all the time and think of the people who play GW2 for more than an hour or two per week!

This is sad. The lack of real competition on the MMO market is allowing Anet to slack.
Anet is getting more greedy. Before 3 pack minis = 500 gems, now buy each for 350 gems = 1050 gems.
Even ranked games are terrible. I liked the old matchmaking system a lot better. Often I was a filler for 4 man guild teams, now I have to deal with 4 other random peoples all the time. Very terrible!

As for dungeons in Wildstar, there are only 4 dungeons there at this time. Nothing very hard unless you want the gold medal achievements there.

Restarting the game resets the “You joined too many groups” counter. Client side protections are so useless lol
Currently there are no incentives to play ranked games over unranked games. They give the same amount of rank points, same amount of reward track progress and progress the champion of class titles.
Even when the ladder starts only a miniscule amount of people will be rewarded for playing ranked games: "The top 250 players on the ladder at the end of the season will receive a mini llama. The top 20 players on the ladder will also receive a piece of Glorious Hero’s armor, and the top 5 will receive two pieces of Glorious Hero’s armor. "
Mini Llama isnt of use if you have more than one of them, since they are untradeable and reaching top 20 is an unrealistic goal for most people.
So there need to be more reward incentives to keep the queues short:
- special finishers
- reward tracks which only progress in ranked games, these could give the discontinued old pvp armors and weapons such as tribal armor and destroyer scythe
- new achievements with titles

I have to admit I was tempted to get these until I found out about not unlocking the ones used in the forge to get the dolyak calf.
If however I was to unlock the Fawn, Puppy and Arctic fox when they get forged I would buy this in a heartbeat, as it is now, I just don’t feel it’s worth it as I don’t really like the fawn or fox.

Looks like Anet added some kind of hotfix. Courtyard now only lasts 5min instead of 15min per round.
Which adds a new problem. As soon as one team got a lead they can bunker up, play hide and seek or wait in spawn until the time is over and win.

Anets fault if they trust metrics instead of making player surveys.
Be glad they did it in the middle and not at the beginning of the game, making it impossible for you to get any score at all, and having to wait the full 15 minutes. That’s what happened to me
Then you could leave too. If you have 0 score you get no rewards so no point in staying.
Interesting enough the OP in this thread did tell us in another thread that he/she/it actively votes on the map that he/she/it knows is the least popular just to annoy people. So yeah, probably shouldn’t complain all that much
This thread is not a complaint about courtyard, its a complaint about the game not ending if the opponents all left or do not leave spawn.
I have seen rather many people vote for it. Doesn’t really prove anything. But it will indeed be a rather good way to show how many people actually vote for it, in the long run.
Another fun thing is that people seem to rage like mad about how bad Courtyard is here on the forums, and yet every single time it has been possible to vote for it more than half of the players in-game have actually done so.
That is because people like me always vote for the least popular map possible to see all the frustration if the map gets selected.

The progress bar already progresses insanely fast if you hold 4/4 forts upgraded to t3. Making it faster would be silly.
Well I was solo queuing into a ranked match and this happened:
We were leading 400:0 and all the enemies logged out or whatever. Then we had to wait the full 7min until the match was over.
Maybe devs just forgot about them?
Probably not, they were in a heavy RNG bag, it took me like 80€ worth of gems to get all 4 minis. They probably wont bring them back because 1) The RNG boxes are unpopular (the minis were the only good thing in the chests) 2) They dont want to upset people who invested into the RNG boxes for the minis.
I don’t know why people bother to jump from breach to breach… you still have to do 100000 defense events because you need 4000 crests for boot boxes and the amulet. You will have 50 bladders by the time you manage to get that many crests.

I finished my boots and legs yesterday because of this strategy. Also got the 1200 crest miniature.
Lately I have been trying to do a lot of taxi for people, but after a few times of reposting the taxi I am affected by a spam filter, which makes me unable to post anything but an empty message on the lfg tool and nothing on map chat anymore.
Who thought this was a good idea? Especially if you are also commander and want to give useful commands on chat.
Either
1) Remove spam filter for using lfg tool
2) Do not delete your lfg message from the lfg system if the last person leaves your party

Weren’t the Winter skins already cheaper than the others? (3 as opposed to 5.) That suggests that when they come back, they’ll probably be back at a small discount, so maybe 3 or 4 tickets each.
But yeah, it would make sense for ANet to bring back some weapon sets, especially those with ties to seasonal or real world holidays. (I’m calling it now; Lovestruck weapons will be back in February for Valentine’s Day.)
Well the Halloween weapons were 5 tickets and got reduced to 2. So hopefully the new trend. Lets face it, 5 tickets is too much for a weapon if it takes about 50€ of keys per ticket.

Killing for entertainment is evil no matter how you slice it. There are grey areas, but if your only intent is to harm some one without rhyme or reason, you’re no better than something truly evil. You can’t just throw the term out the window because you want to be philosophical. It does have a meaning and it can correlate to a persons actions.
What if I told you there is no free will even? Free will is an illusion, everything is based on deterministic effects (newton mechanics) and probablistic effects (quantum mechanics). Well even quantum mechanics might be deterministic, there are scientific theories on that, too. So no matter how you put it, everything was either set in stone at the creation of the universe, based on chance or a mix of both.
So if killing someone for no reason is evil, black holes (and similar distructive forces of nature) are too, because both is purely based on the powers of nature. In result humans are just forces of nature (who have exactly 0 choices if they do something or not, just like black holes etc) who just do what they are supposed to do (call it fate if you want).

This. Even if I would live in the US I would not be interested in this task. Too mand requirement, restrictions etc and no perks. At bare minimum Anet could give specialists 8000 gems per month for their work if they do their role good.
