Malediktus.9250

Name: Dye collector
Prerequisites: None
Goal: Collect all 403 dyes available from unidentified dyes
Reward: 25 AP, Title “I like it colorful”

I already have all of the dyes. The reward is being disappointed by the celebratory dye packs I get on my characters’ third birthdays.

What do you mean? I mean you could add the gemstore dyes to the achievement, but it would probably make more sense to have seperate achievevements for those similar to the black lion weapon collections.

Since Anet has trouble putting out content that keeps people busy for a long time I thought about a list of achievements that could keep more people playing and motivated during content draughts.
A lot of these achievements are deliberately chosen to be hard or very time consuming to have a lot of tasks to choose from during content draughts, so keep that in mind before criticizing. But on many you can make progress while playing as normal.
I will post more suggestions over time as I can think of it; also feel free to make your own suggestions.

[Suggestion] Guild Anthem and raids

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Malediktus.9250

Currently the guild anthems are not very useful for PVE guilds, could you make it so that they play after defeating a raidboss if at least 6 of 10 people are representing your guild? Maybe also if there are 4 out of 5 members of your guild in your party after defeating a fractal or dungeon.

I think it is a bit overtuned. Personally, the balance seems a bit off. They made Mossman totally redundant, yet made Bloom insane. A little bit of moderation would have been better. Apart from anything else, it has now gone from by far the shortest fractal to the longest. I felt it went on forever.

Its only long if you fail over and over. As soon as people know what to do it will be a sub 10 minute fractal again.

A productive Rant

Malediktus.9250

All content is releveant in GW2 and the worst thing to do would be “toning” down “old” content.
All I read here is i want the best rewards specific zones have to offer on a silver plattern. For example noone forces to to have all the ambrite weapons. Your suggestions just make people burn through content even faster which is exactly a problem GW2 already has. You get everything way too fast hurting the replayability and longevity of the game.
Everything is already super casuals compared to basically any other online RPG I tried before. Never before I had to spend so little effort to get the desired stuff.

EDIT: Your claim that easier is better is also wrong. There are a lot of casuals who are not bad players and enjoy a challenge.

This serves no purpose.

This inconveniences them if it messes thing up when they add more masteries.

We finally got spririt shards back! So you don’t see huge amount of XP do absolutely nothing. Why would you want this in a game that’s not about this kind of thing?

I dont care about spirit shards, most veterans literally have thousands of them which they cannot spend without clicking around in the mystic forge thousands upon thousands of times.
So spirit shards are even less useful to us than a higher number to brag with.

How would empty mastery rank points benefit someone at all?

Why not just wait to see if these points are useable later on future added mastery lines instead of asking to waste them on pointless, empty ranks?

I like the idea, my 31 HoT points and 17 tyria points finally could be used to show that I did more than the average person

I think there just needs to be more sinks for them. Maybe make it so we could craft Mystic Coins or Amalgamated Gemstones with them?

More sinks yes, but not for existing items.

Anet also needs to take a look at Essence of Time, it is a pretty rare drop from silver waste chests, but barely has any uses so it is only worth 3s

And the rarity is why they are 30g each. The demand for them is low, yet the price is high. So the droprate must be abysmal. I would estimate only around 50 of them drop per day for the whole playerbase.

The low droprate on that one is good, as soon as you raise it by any noticeable amount, the dipole will become worthless.
Dont fool yourself, if the price would be cheap, you would buy it because then your excuse is “it is cheap, so why should i farm it myself”

Yes druids need a nerf, but not healing nerf. Their CC, stealth and damage needs to be nerfed

Lol, are you sure you don’t want to nerf the healing too? …may as well xd..gw2 community finest example of “player”

We cannot nerf druid healing because their healing power is essential for raids in pve and basically the only reason to take druid in pve

LMAO so the only reason you want to leave healing out of your nerfing spree is because you need a healbot for your raids and we can nerf the rest as you don’t care?..that genuine logic ^^, basically people should play for your own enjoyment sure thing buddy

It is the sole reason druids to exist, to be a healbot in pve
Anet made druid a strong healer on purpose to let people have a soft trinity for raids
You probably havent played raids yet, at least it seems like that from your response. There is a lot of unavoidable damage in raids, like damage auras on some bosses

Now there is basically zero motivation to replay any of the levels…

Except the actually fun content.

Which is the same as it was before the patch. If you like the lower tiers, then last month, they were just as worth repeating as this month, which might have been “very worth it” or “not at all” depending on your personal preferences.

Well there is zero reason to help people get into higher fractal levels, if Anet would have reset them a lot of people would have played 1-75 again

I would not buy any of the old black lion skins. Anet basically owes us bringing them back one day because they added the collections achievements for them long after selling them the last time.
And as far as I can tell there are only 2 out of the 35 sets missing a rerelease. Sclerite and Fused weapons. So hopefully its their turn soon.

Excess HoT mastery points for LS3

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Malediktus.9250

Malediktus.9250

Can we downgrade these form “mastery” points to “casual” points? I thought the whole point was to have to work towards them and learn to master aspects of the game. Now they throw so many at you that you just get plopped in front of it is just not fun to get them anymore.

At least the raid mastery point additions took a few hours work to learn the fights.

I agree with this suggestion. Might as well delete mastery points from the game because it is so easy to get enough for everything, especially HoT masteries. And the exp is even easier to get. I think the whole mastery system is a failure at the current implementation.
Not the things you unlock with masteries, but masteries do not feel like you accomplished everything since Anet basically throws everything at you for barely any effort. Being masterly lvl 170 is just as meaningless as being lvl 80 pre HoT.

The same problem exist with legendaries. They are so common and easy to make that the name legendary is missleading.

I’m not sure most of the playerbase plays 6, 8, 10 hours a day. Not playing for extended amounts of time, they may not be so adept, and it may actually be more challenging and time-consuming to ‘accomplish everything’.

Thus, I hope (and am pretty sure) ArenaNet designs content with more than the outliers in mind.

I spend only a small fraction of my time on stuff like legendaries. So even if you only play 10h a week you can make several legendaries per year, which iis why you see so many people with multiple legendaries.
And getting the essential masteries is just a matter of a month (starting with a fresh account), too, even for the really casual players.
It is really a problem with GW2, there are hardly any long term goals/tasks other than time gated stuff like legendary armor which we cannot even finish yet.
Anet released a new map and there were people after 2 days who already unlocked all the achievements and rewards the map has to offer. That does not sound like sustainable MMO content at all.
Maybe that is why a lot of people do not log in for much other than patch days, I can see it in my friendlist where the activity sharply declines again after every patch because they already finished everything. The game needs more grind.

Cool story, I’ve been playing HoT since launch and I’ve yet to max my masteries. So yeah if you want to pour all your game time on one thing, yes you can max things get X item in no time, but if you like to do a little of this and that, it will take you a lot longer, just because you can do things in X amount of time will not mean everyone can.

Adding more points to make things easier for new and people who are bad at some content will not devalue your work. It seems to me they are adding new tracks, and sone will be needed for the LW3, so ANet is making sure not to lock people out of the story, it was a point of contention with HoT’s launch, they probably don’t want to do that again. But then the so called “Elite” or “Hard Core” players don’t want people to be able to just play the game. Ho no, everyone must play the way they do because anything else makes them less elite for some bizarre reason only they truly understand. If you feel the game needs more grind, and ANet are very against grind, maybe this is not the game for you, or you could just accept the game for what it is, not what you want it to be.

So what have you been doing since launch? The first people had all masteries maxed after less than a week. It has been like 9 months now. Are you telling me these hardcore people played in less than a week than you in 9 months? I doubt it.

Well said. My thoughts exactly.

More options only adds more possibilities, which leads to longer playability. Anyone who would rather see the opposite (elitists), might want to find a more competitive game if they hate seeing people catch up to them.

There are not many games like that, the MMORPGs I played before GW2 are dead (either shutdown or wasteland because 10y+ old) or casualized to the point that they are nothing special anymore.
And if you havent noticed less and less MMORPGs get released nowadays, because they are simply a high risk low reward investment to the gaming industry, so it is unlikely GW2 will see true competition in the upcoming years.

Excess HoT mastery points for LS3

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Most people who play pvp do not care about eSports at all, so balancing for esports will drive people away from pvp.

Noone said anything about one shots, but classes like thiefs, mesmers and revs can get pretty close to one shotting you with 1 burst combo.

Season 4 will be horrible with the current max burst meta. Season 1 > Season 2 > Season 3 > Season 4

You’re one of those people who has very little perspective on how good you have it now

Season 1 was the darkest period in GW2 history, in competitive there were just 2 optimal professions, and there were averaging 15 minutes of smashing people before a downed state managed to somehow fully die instead of being insta-revived.

What do you mean? I was legendary in all 3 seasons, so I played a lot of matches in each of them. 522 matches in season 3 alone.

Sorry but its a total l2p issue. This post is nothing but a whine, its not productive in producing discussion or any reasoning to it, the only reason op gave is he doesn’t like it.

Not being able to face tank burst specs is healthy for a game.

Not being able to provide any reasoning besides personal taste when calling for nerfs (ie: I feel it’s to strong because X) to create a discussion whether it is a shared opinion or perhaps to have some light shed on why it is this way and how to counter to it, is unhealthy for a forum

Really. Season 1 was the best. The season where you LITERALLY had opposing players standing on mid point chatting with each other. Because they knew neither one could scratch the other. So they just sat there and chatted to keep the point uncontested.

Thats your PvP model. That’s what you want to go back to.

Really? I barely noticed that, maybe 1 out of 25 games was like that.

Well, proper bursts have always hit for that much

And I never liked it, but Anet is nerfing defensive amulets/traits/skills more and more which makes the problem worse and worse.
If Anet doesnt want to nerf damage or double everyones base health they should gives us celestial, soldier and cleric amulets back.
