I am honestly surprised that there is still some confusion about this upcoming change. So let me try to clarify it once more:

Current:
- You get one guaranteed rare (or better) per event per day per character from the event chest. Everything else in the event chest is based on normal drop chance, so there is a chance to get rares (or better) as well.
After the change:
- You get one guaranteed rare (or better) per event per day per account from an extra chest that will be displayed like the chest for the dailies. Everything else in the event chest is based on normal drop chance, so there is a chance to get rares (or better) as well.

But it really wasn’t. I have several personal accounts of not getting a rare, let alone guild mates, friends, and what not.

That also doesn’t address the issue of the “daily” being rare or better or just rare, and how bad a hit the normal chest is getting. Currently the normal chest at the end of event has given me 0-3 rares and a few lessers, with the most common being 1-2 rares. Will it still have a high chance at rare(s) or exotics? Or is is going back to pre buff? I see the second and third rares as a bonus roll, if you will. Am I to expect 1-2 rares from this chest as often as the 2-3 before?

The only thing that will be changed is that the guaranteed rare drop will now be account bound. Everything else remains the same. You will be able to open the regular event chests once per day per event per character as before. You will still have the same drop chances as before.

That is indeed correct. You will get one guaranteed rare drop per boss per account per day. You still have the chance to get pre-cursors/exotics/rares from the regular dragon chests every time you play an event. It is just the guaranteed rare drop that has been restricted.

I understand what you said but is the NORMAL chest (without guaranteed rare) still only lootable once per day? If so, is this per character or is this throughout the account? From what you said, it kinda implies that the normal chest now spawns for EVERY event regardless if I have done it already for that day.

Just wondering if i am reading this right. So For Example: I do Jormag on my home server. If i guest to a friends server to help i will have no chance at a rare on that character?
I think maybe some Clarification on what your trying to explain. cause it sounds like you Created the drops to be better for people and passively inspire us players to use our other characters. Your correction of the drop system has made me as a player use my other characters more. Your going to possibly Kill people’s Want to use ALT characters and basically Break what you just unbroke—->Deadzones where no players are playing. Because it seems better in this game to Rush a character to 80 and only do the things that give good loot. Your gonna Reduce the Community to only using 1 Character Per Account Per Day with this attitude. I have been playing Guildwars from Day 1… GW1 and GW2. I Remember hearing one of your Devs in one of your ABOUT guildwars type videos explain that if players want to run around and kill things and Farm you didnt want to get in the way of that….. Well guess what your going back on your word from the sound of this statement.

Or am i Wrong. This sounds like your going to limit the drops yet AGAIN! and cause more events to turn into ghost towns… your player base is going to do 1 Event 1 Time on 1 character. Yet again this game is being Nerfed into the ground just like the First Guildwars was. Trust me It got REALLY old in the first guildwars to spend time Hunting for Weapons, Skills, Bosses. Spend all that in game currency on items that are going to be DRASTICALLY changed in months to make them worthless… Almost feels like your Headed down the same path in this game.

If im wrong Please Explain More Clearly. But According to this it sounds to me like there is no need for me to play my other 5 lvl 80 characters anymore. Get the chest on all events with one character and let the others collect dust. Cause after lvl 80 there is no need for me as a player to do events just to get Green Crap for drops.

I believe you guys are making the wrong move!

This isn’t actual news, it is something we have mentioned multiple times before. As the original interview says, and I quote:
“Expansions are definitely something that we’ll potentially look at in the future,” he explained. “We don’t have a timetable on it. We’re open to it, but I think our major focus as a studio is making the living world concept as strong as possibly can for the players that we’ve got.”

No one said we will never do an expansion, all Colin says (again) is that we are currently focusing on Living Story and other ongoing to the live game.

What people dont realize is that “overflow” is not really a seperate server, but rather one of the other servers that are not currently full. Overflow is just a title that you got moved, not an actual “extra” server as many would like to believe.

This information is actually totally wrong. Overflow are separate from the worlds.

Thanks for clarifying Martin. Is what I was thinking of possible then? Or is it a programming nightmare?

As overflow servers are a shared resource (they are not world specific) my guess is that it would not be possible.

Want to add that i really enjoy the game, but there is so many currencies and i really feel that the fractaltokens are worthless atm

Well, I use mine for the infusion upgrades and the bags at the moment, when I get closer to actually work on my Legendary, I will probably go for the skill points, as other posters have pointed out.

This is me as a player and my opinion, yours might differ.

As this has probably been buried deep by know, I would like to quote Izzy again. I put aspects of his post that touch on the actual discussion in bold:

I know there have been some concerns about Guild Bounties being in the Art of War line. Our goal with this system is to give guilds activities and long-term progression that they can accomplish by working together as a guild. These missions are meant to be difficult and challenging to not only unlock, but to accomplish.

We would also like to make every guild upgrade line valuable to every guild. Currently, Art of War is very focused on PvP and WvW, but our plan is to continue to add more guild upgrades in the Art of War line to accomplish this. These Guild Missions are the first step. Along with this system, we also added a number of new guild upgrades that guilds can earn.

In the end, our goal for all of this content is to give guilds new goals and challenges to accomplished once they have researched deeply into each line, as well as require guilds to have researched multiple lines to unlock some upgrades. I over reacted, we’ve been running CoF P1 so much everyone had extra gold and dumped it into influence.

2g for 1000 (60g for the upgrade) Influence is pretty cheap.

My thoughts is, if this is content made for large zerg groups, chances are talented groups will prob be able to accomplish them with half the people. No one should be freaking out.

The information in this report is not correct.

It is true that Kongzhong is our Chinese publisher and that we are working with them to release Guild Wars 2 into the Chinese market. But like with the release in North America and Europe, we will do extensive beta testing, and the feedback of those tests will determine the time when we will release the game in China.

It is also true that we have said in the past that we will do an expansion at one point. But currently we are fully committed to expand the world of Guild Wars 2 through our Living Story (you can read more about it in this blog post by narrative designer Angel McCoy)

You can delete all the characters on the account and then change servers for free. The transfer costs only kick in for accounts with characters on them.

Judging by some of the comments, a lot of people have neither read the actual blog post nor have they read the one from Mike O’Brien back in September. So let me give you a TL;DR version that should hopefully clear up some concerns/questions:

- No, we have not been compromised.
- We announced in September that we will do this mandatory change at some point. This point is now.
- If you have changed your password after September 12, you are fine, no action required.

For added clarification, I was under the impression that this is in regards to anyone who used a blacklisted password. I’ve never received such a notification, hence I did not change it. Will I be required to change it now?

If you have changed your password after September 12, no. If you still use a password you created before September 13, you will have to change it. Pretty straight forward.

To answer the question about guild influence:
You will gain guild influence on the world you are guesting on.

So what is the advantage of Guesting over, say, a transfer that can’t participate in WvW (which is what we have now, right?)?

I can go to a different server to play with friends but not progress my Guild in any way. What you have done is made the community make a choice between Guild and Friends. Is that truly how a “Global Community” is supposed to work?

With the ability to be part of up to 5 guilds – considering you are playing with your friends on a different server, you can be in their guild and advance that guild.

The same was true when you transferred a server or were in an overflow server, so I do not see how this is perceived as a “new” issue?

Let me explain to you why you cannot guest on worlds in another region.

There are two databases: European player data is stored in our European datacenter, American player data is stored in our American datacenter. This is to ensure that people in these regions can still properly play in case there is an issue with the connection between the datacenters.

When you do a world transfer from the US to the EU (and vice versa) your player data is transferred from one datacenter to the other. This is not the case with guesting, as you are still “registered” on your home world.
