I love my Ranger and I was worried that the Druid could be a permanent class change could someone from Anet say something about this I would love to check out the Druid but like I said I REALLY love my Ranger
From the latest MMORPG interview Colin just did:
http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/473/feature/9340/page/1
MMORPG: That’s a one-time thing, correct? I’m a ranger, I do my stuff and bam, I’m a druid, I can use druid powers?
CJ: Correct, and then you can swap back and forth, you can say “My character’s a druid, but I’m going to play as a ranger today.” It’s very similar to changing out your skills and traits, you can go in and change whenever you want, as long as you’re out of combat.
I’m glad they clarified this. I love my Sylvari Ranger, but if it was permanent, I would never change her. I’ll be all over this now though!
So if theres just one specialization, why would anyone choose to not do it?
Because if you can’t change back then I would never want to change it in teh first place.
If we change our characters, will they be able to change back? I love my Ranger, and the idea of a Druid sounds interesting, but if I’m stuck as one I will never change her.
Will their be swapping back and forth?
It’s in multiple zones and maps. Seems perhaps like an attack maybe? Very odd. I gave up for the night. Try again tomorrow.
Yep. Was in SW and bought a stack of keys. When I got back in – no keys. I’m not buying anything until they sort this.
Also found I had been ported back across the zone, and the pact bar had reset.

At least you can download something. As soon as I open the patcher I get the ‘Connection Errors detected’ message.
Didn’t work unfortunately. :-(
So, has this been fixed or not? I am still getting this message and cannot update or login.
Recently I have been encountering a bug in the Wintersday jumping puzzle (JP), right after the exploding presents there is a jump then a long candy cane, i keep taking massive damage over time, it is very unexpected, and usually results in me being killed before I can even get half way across the candy cane to where the giant snowballs are. This very annoying bug is stopping me from getting my 15 completed jumps for my ‘Adept Toymaker’ Title, it is now seeming illusive and something that i’m going to miss out on again. Anet please look into this and fix it. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
I had this. I think it’s that silly “falling” damage bug. You know, where you fall down a small slope and take some damage, but if you keep running forward you keep taking falling damage even though you are just running. If you stop though, you heal back up.
This has been around for as long as I can remember – it’s super annoying.
Elestian, would you mind if it was moved away from the “Deposit all Materials” option in the menu?
This, yes. I don’t mind them keeping it. Just shift it away from the only other option that most people use frequently. At the bottom of that context list would be fine.
It just seems like different choices, not less.
I’ve only been playing for a year, so maybe it’s different for people who played from launch, but the game seems to have plenty of choices as to what people can do. I also played pre-change and post-change (the recent changes I mean) and it still seems like a really fun game with lots to do.
What I would like is an expansion though. The living story is fine, but I just want a huge new content chunk. LS tends to be not enough I guess – I just want more story and lots of it.
I actually like this change. It funnels huge amounts of people into zones. Some zones are pretty quiet, for various reasons, so this spurs activity. And it’s like one day every now and then. I really don’t see the issue. Although, yeah, the starter zones might not be the best area’s.
Is their any chance the “compact” option in the inventory drop down list could be moved? To say, the bottom on that list?
Having it right underneath the “Deposit all Materials” option is asking for trouble – I know I’ve accidentally hit it heaps of times and it’s reorganized my whole inventory Grrr! I can’t be the only one.
Or maybe have it so if you hit it again, it puts everything back where it was before?
I don’t really mind this new system, but it can sometimes feel odd. Like, I had to do Ascalon miner the other day, and went to one of the zones and was only there to find some nodes and never did anything else there. It felt like a chore, wasted time. Under the old system, I just did want I wanted to do, and the achievements happened along the way. This new system makes you go out of your way to get specific things in specific zones. But again they are easy so it’s not a major drama.
But I feel like I’m being sent somewhere I didn’t really want to go – it feels artificial and clunky.
1. Why is everyone red and it’s flagged like pvp? You can’t attack anyone. Well, except for that one time the game glitched and I had all my abilities and weapons on the respawn pad, and promptly wailed on everyone else there – that was hilarious.
2. Why is it timed and then resets? Is their a extra prize for doing it under a certain time? Just bragging rights? It’s really just annoying otherwise – and it inevitably resets mid run. Because of course it does.
3. The score window. Again, what’s the point? Does anyone care how many runs others have done? Is their a prize or reward for this? Does it count towards some main leaderboard elsewhere? And why does it pop up right in the middle of the screen, again, usually mid run. Couldn’t they have a button to open it or something? Why just cover the middle of the screen – it’s pretty much an insta fail.
Don’t get me wrong, the actual jumping puzzle itself is fine (if annoying), but all these other aspects around it seem pointless, and just interfere with trying to complete the JP. Why are they even there? Just an extra layer aggravation?
I’m glad to see they are aware of this issue. It was a terrible decision to remove that content, and the business with the greatest fears change was awful. That was some of the most interesting story – the branching options offered all sorts of re-playability. I’m not going to play anything from A Light in the Darkness or beyond.
I did do it on one character pre the change, and cleared the whole story, so I’m fine in that regards, but I’ll avoid doing it on any others in case they change it back. Like others have said, please fix this, even if it takes a while – It’s totally worth it. (Heck, for people that wanna rush through it, just give an option to skip it or something).
I must admit, I never have understood how less content and less options are a good thing. Makes no sense.
I love that Guild Wars 2 is heavily female focused. I love that it has two, YES TWO!!, queer couples – one current and one past. I like the fact that it’s the women that are the main, relevant drivers of the plot.
Pretty much every game these days, and in the past, was mostly male characters, and if it had female characters, they were for the sexual gratification of the male characters in-game, or the gamers playing them – because the male demographic was/is what’s catered to.
No, Arena Net – DON’T CHANGE A THING! If anything, add more female characters.
One game out of, well, every game ever made, has a preponderance of female characters and emphasis on them, and cries of MISANDRY rain from the heavens. Don’t make me laugh.
Where were all you people when game after game after game with generic white male rubbish being pumped out, with no or appallingly portrayed female characters? Yeah, nowhere.
How can you call for equality when it’s already so unequally slanted towards males in gaming? And don’t tell me it isn’t. If anything Guild Wars 2, with it’s heavy female focus, is making things equal – equal against all the other games out there. Keep up the good job ANet!
So, I logged in after the latest update and claimed the LS update. All good.
But it’s showing as the latest chapter I played was The Dragons Reach Part 2, and gives me the option to continue it.
Only problem is that’s not correct. I did that weeks back, and the latest chapter I did was Echoes of the Past. I’ve never replayed this chapter. Ever.
All the other chapters show as complete – even the one after it. When I highlight The Dragons Reach Part 2, it shows in the picture on the right it’s complete, but why is it showing that I played this last? I definitely did not. I was playing Echoes.
The little “complete” logo is also missing – but all the other chapters have it. DR2 has the little star – which I presume means I’m ‘doing it’ now. But I’m not.
Why is it saying I’m doing this chapter? I’ve completed it and never gone back to it (not yet anyway). Anyone else getting this?
(I asked on reddit, and some other people are getting this also).
Update: GOT IT! (just got it in fact lol). Glitching inside the rock is a short term fix, that does work – but this really needs fixing properly!
Yeah, still bugged, and it blocks getting the achievement. You can glitch inside the rock, and some have had success as the wall from the inside is slanted – although I couldn’t manage it myself. Bit spastic with jumping and stuff lol. It’s supposed to be on the ledge, on the ground.
Can you guys please fix this!
Yeah, the mechanics of the place is clear as mud.
I have protected many a dolyak but i can’t say if it has any effect on the state of the fort. Nor does protecting the repair guy after a successful defense seem to matter much.
And then the breaches happen at near random, sometimes with and sometimes without the toxic smog.
Only place i felt i could really do something besides zerg the mordrem waves was up at blue fort, where i can grab a hammer and build some additional barriers along one of the walls.
Actually, the mechanics are very simple. I liked having to figure out out and not have it spoon fed to me.
Eh, never mind, I used Google to track down this fiasco. (The forum search just flat out doesn’t work).
I can’t believe they actually removed this content. This stuff was good, and a nice detour from the main quest line. Why on earth did they remove it? It was working fine. Especially as it now make parts of the story, and characters you meet later, make no sense!
Was breaking the story, and gutting content part of the ‘compelling’ changes to make this game ‘easier’ for idiots? Ugh. Just awful.
Please stop dumbing down the game to be like every other MMO out there? GW was always good because of it’s complex story and lore.
After you talk to the Pale Tree she asks for your great fear, and based on the answer it sends you on a quest chain.
I was on the Wiki and looking for this in the Personal Story sections, but couldn’t find them listed. I remember doing one of them, and even remember reading about them on the wiki in the past, because I was stuck – but they seem to have vanished. I eventually found them by directly searching for them, but they no longer link as part of the story chain on there.
If they did remove them, why? This seems ridiculous.
I tested the “fix” for this and rolled a new toon – which I was going to play anyway. It works – or it did for me. I leveled her up to lvl 11 and then I could access the goggles son all my other toons. It seems the patch re-locked all previous toons and re-leveling is required to re-unlock it.
Which waypoints in particular are you talking about? I know of several that are still not working properly.
Their is a waypoint near the fallen observatory. It used to have a vine wrapped around it – it’s now gone and the waypoint is back to normal.
As the title says. This event seems to freeze or bug pretty much every time. The golem gets up to the lab and just stands there. The event can’t succeed or fail. The event text states it’s supposed to be clearing out enemies – but they don’t seem to spawn. Been like this for months – or probably even longer I guess. It needs a fail timer or limit, otherwise it will never be completable once it bugs out the first time, or until the map closes.
Bugged again. Can you fix this already? It’s known why it bugs – it’s on the wiki – so surely they can fix it?
Were the vines that were attacking way points removed? I noticed they seem to have vanished. The waypoints are back to normal. Or is that a living world related thing?
For the record, after digging back and reading a few other threads, I leveled one of my lower-level characters to 11 and was able to use the diving goggles on my level 80 character. Not sure what exactly the level cutoff is since I didn’t check at lower levels, but that’s one workaround. Obviously this isn’t ideal for people who don’t have random lower level characters hanging around or any free slots. :/
Just to clarify. You mean you leveled a low level character to 11, then switched to an 80 and it worked? Did you try other higher level toons? Were they ok too? You didn’t level to 11 and then all the way up to 80 on it? You actually switched and the goggles worked?
So, in other words leveling that character to 11 unlocked the goggles on all the other characters. Interesting.
It’s like the patch relocked the goggles on all/some accounts and re-leveling up a new toon re-unlocks them all again – because as we know goggles are so confusing to new players or whatever /sarcasm
I’ll give this solution a try. I wonder what happens if you delete that quickly leveled toon? Hopefully it doesn’t re-lock the goggles again.
Usually I have no problem with these farms and people who want to waste their time farming away BUT today I saw the toxicity it creates when players need to finish the event. This time several players were asking to finish and this group of players would not have it. They called us names, they called us a problem, they said we could go elsewhere, that it was hurting their way of play, and some other things not worth the community’s time. These players needed to finish something for their living story and it was in their right to do so. I had guildies and several others come help just to finish so those players could move on which some people would call trolling but not in my opinion. It is one thing for it to be a random event but this was something blocking character progress. It needs to be fixed.
The way these players acted was of superiority and not the helping hand. I’ve heard several players tell me about this event failing and the toxicity to keep them from playing how they wish. The argument really came when said it was intended for the event to be finished. And that’s just it, THE EVENT IS MEANT TO BE COMPLETED!!! It is not meant to be purposely failed. I could keep the argument up here but I see many believe using mechanics to fill their wallets is the strongest idea. So hopefully Anet squashes your greed and continues spreading the toxicity remedy.
I hear ya dude. Was doing stuff the other day, and some chap lost his nut when a random adventurer ‘succeeded’ an event. Started going on and on in map chat, screaming at the poor guy/girl. I’m totally cool with wandering players completing events, even if I miss out on a cycle(s) or whatever. I much prefer to just explain what we are doing, and then they are happy to get their quest ding, and then join in on the next go round if they want. Just being an ahole alienates players – and to what end? More than cool to help even. But then again I just enjoy playing the game – so what if I miss out on one loot bag occasionally. It’s supposed to be fun, not a job.
So, I was reading discussion about the latest update on reddit and spotted a mention of free trial. This genuine? I see was mentioned in the update notes in these forums. Do they really start on the 25th like the signup page says?
Yeah, same here. I found some goggles on my lvl 40 odd toon, in Plains of Ashford (Ascalon Basin), and figured maybe it was blocked because of the level. So, I switched to my 80 and still could not use them. I guess I can’t advance the achievement until it’s fixed.
Still hunting about for a NZ / Oz time zone guild. :-D
Bit of an update.
I swapped toons for a bit, then swapped back again later (about 30 mins later). Rhell Crankmane had gone and then the event restarted, and this time it did complete.
Although I did notice that this time the Ghosts spawned and actually attacked him. – including the Boss Ghost. Killing him completes it. The ones that are in the area just wandering are not the ones related to the event.
For whatever reason, they sometimes do not spawn.
Yes, he is frozen on 1/2 machines built, and thus you cannot continue the Living Story. Letting ghosts kill him doesn’t help – he just gets frozen at 1/2 again.
Same. He is stuck on 1/2 machines built – cannot continue the living story. Letting him die doesn’t help – he just gets stuck again.
This was reported back in January (7 MONTHS AGO!) and is still broken. As it’s now part of the Living Story is breaks the game.

Hey all. I’m looking for a Oceanic time zone guild – other Kiwi’s and Aussies (I’m in NZ).
Been playing for a couple of months now (although played for a short while at launch, and played gw1 for ages), got my Ranger to 80 (and reasonably geared I think), and currently obsessed with exploring every nook and cranny of Tyria – the achievements are so addictive to chase down.
Recently done a few dungeons and found them quite fun, as well as random guild events that spring up that other guilds were doing and invited the zone to come along to, and World Bosses & Temple invasions in Orr (or whatever you call them). I must say, the community is very friendly – that’s one thing I have noticed. Everyone helps everyone – very cool.
Would be keen to try out all the other group and guild content as well – more than happy to pull my weight and am a quick study. Still gotta get the other classes down – Warrior will be next I reckon.
Any who, if any Oceanic guilds are recruiting, chuck me a message, or leave a post.
Side note: I tried using the forum search function, but it flat out doesn’t work :-(
