New Legendaries and Materials

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

My best bet and tip for you is:
If you are not in need of the money, and want some head start onto the new things coming out, save every material you get. From shards/t1 mats to lodestones/t6.

I am sure that most part of the mats necessary will be new mats (Such as dark energy got from salvaging ascended). But I am also sure that we will need other old materials, in a form similar to the ascended actually.

Since forum log-in update, I am not able to see my leaderboard position anymore. Everytime I go to that section, it asks to me to login to see my personnal stats based on my profile, but when I actually click on it, it redirect me to my https://account.arena.net/overview page instead.

Anyone else, or is it just me? If it is global, can this be fixed? pointless have a leaderboard if you can’t acess your position in there.

Why legendary backs and not ascended?

And what makes you think that there will not have all other stats in other ascended pieces into the expansion?

if they are going to add other stats to the legendary back piece, its pretty obvisous to have on other pieces too.

Will we need to salvage asc armor/weapons?

From today blogpost:
“salvaging each type of item, like gloves or weapons, will yield different results, but all *will provide a chance at the new *ball of dark energy salvage item that will be used for crafting new legendary items in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns and beyond. Salvaging ascended rings will also grant players stabilizing matrices, a necessary component for legendary crafting.”

Will these new materials be strictly rewarded trough ascended salvage, or can we obtain trough other means? I don’t care salvage a bunch of rings, since they are pretty easy to get, but seems like that the rings gives a different sort of material than armors or weapons.

Fixed that quote, As you can read, ALL accended items will have chance to give you a ball of dark energy salvage item that will be used for crafting new legendary items. Rings are accended items thus they will drop it too. Different results will likely mean that you can get more if you salvage an accended armor piece or weapon which seems logical as they are much harder to get then rings.

IN addition (so next to this) only rings will be able to give you stabilizing matrices. which are also needed in new legendary crafting.

This means that we WILL need to savage accended rings as they are the only items that give us the stabilizing matrices. Next to that you can salvage ANY accended item (including rings) to get the ball of dark energy. This it might even be possible to get both an ball of dark energy and a stabilizing matrice from 1 ring salvage if your RNG is lucky.

Salvaging of other accended items is not required, but optional for those of us that want to get rid of some for some reason (i would re-stat them in the mystic force but thats just my idea… ) So if you want you will be able to smash them. They will probably have an higher drop rate of dark energy then rings (though the higher drop rate is speculation but it seems likely given that they are much harder to come by then rings) they could also drop other items but so far there is no mention that any of those will be required for legendaries.

If you read carefully, you notice that they give examples of Armors or weapons, both will give chances for dark energy. A little further, they state that rings will give chance for stabilizing matrices, wich is a different material.

Now, of course this could only be a fail in comunication by the blogpost writer, and the rings could indeedly gives dark energy too. And thats the reason I have put this topic up, for clarification, since the blopost is very misleading in a lot of aspects.

You do know you can get a ton of ascended chests from fractals. 0g needed. Also, if you failed to notice, the current Legendaries are ALL gold grinds. No difference. No one’s forcing to to farm for them. If you wan’t a legendary get it. If not, then don’t. The farming + grind required is part of the acquisition process.

I run daily fractas 40 and 50 every day, the average of ascended box drop is still 1 every 8 dailys. I have 8 + 1 (Revenant) toons to gear up with ascended, I have right now 4 complete sets, and 7 spare pieces (Boots/shoulders). Yes, thankx for the useless info, I know that we can get “Free” ascendeds at fractals.

My real questioning here is : Why someone would toss onto trash a 100g worth armor piece, for a “Chance” of a craft mat? I know I would probably end up doing , but it don’t seens rightly designed if that is the case. Either way, I am passing up troll comments such of yours from now on. This is not a rant thread, it is meant to be a questioning for clarification.

It is a LEGENDARY item… it is supposed to be hard to get. If every lookyloo with 20g could get a legendary item it wouldn’t be very legendary would it?

I already bought the mats needed to make/salvage 100 ascended items with this news. If you can’t do the same then you probably aren’t to the point where you should be pursuing a LEGENDARY item.

The whole talk about the new legendarys, is that they are not meant to be a gold pay to get, but a legendary journey instead. So, where is the point if need to sunk hundreds of golds for a chance of a dark energy? This is not a legendary journey, just another grind for gold to geit it.

Of course, we have no info if there is another way to get dark energy yet, and thats why I brought this topic up, To see if we can get some clarification on it.

It sounds like you will get different materials in different amounts from ascended armor and weapons, but all will have a chance at dark matter, and it sounds like matrices will be exclusive to ascended rings.

Atleast thats how I read it.

Dark Matter is the actual Exotic-only salvaged material. They are stating that armor and weapons can wield ball of dark energy.

If they follow the formula of glob of dark matter, this means that in order to get the new legendarys, we will need to salvage ascended weapons and armor, for a chance to get the needed ball of dark energy.

This, is what I have fear. For serious, salvage a 100g worth piece of equipment for a chance at a needed material seens very dangerous. Even if I dropped that piece of equipment.

Actually, it would not be that easy, since dragon bash was built upon old lion’s arch, not the new one.

Basically, they would need to rebuild the decorations in the new lion’s arch, the events, and probably the rewards too.

As far we know, anet is totally focused on expansion, thus no content is being added into the game.

I feel sad too, since I LOVED the dragon bash event.

Season 1 recap

MauricioCezar.2673

if this is a lazy way to throw in season 1 then i’m getting really moist and salty :c

Players were asking for this! Players were suggesting this.
This is just Anet listening to the players.

And I for one am very glad that ANet has at least done something, they can always expand upon it later.

Two issues with the cinematic:

  • “No one at first knew why she began her reign of terror. Some say she peered into the very fabric of the universe and went insane.” — Omadd’s machine isn’t shown until Season 2: Entanglement — The Machine, so why is it included to show what she saw? It ruins the build up to discover what really happened to her.

There was a short story, outside of the game, but very much made available during S1.

There was a story, but that didn’t showed what scarlet saw into the eternal alchemy. I tonly saw he got into omadd machine, and got out of there crazy.

Another thing to remember, is that elite specs also change profession mechanics, so its another fact to be sure that you will not be able to wield 2 elite specs.

There are a lot of types of game content out there, its not only based on dungeons. And even if you nerf Ice bow (What would be very unfair), it would just make another meta skill in its place, not variability.

It would help other professions see more use in dungeons. I mean isn’t the optimal dungeon comp using 2 eles? Hard to compete with a guy who can drop 2 ice bows.

So I guess yeah the thread is really about dungeon balance. But dungeon balance matters.

I agree with you, and would love to see some ranger/necro love/usability for dungeons.

But invalidating a sort of gameplay will not bring love to others. I’d rather see a big buff to pets, making a good usage to then, or givin necros power forms + slow application.

The underlying problem with Frost Bow is that it is validating the Conjure category almost on its own. Once, long ago, and possibly now in some niche roles, the Lightning Hammer would be conjured. Not so much now. Earth Shield? Hah! Lava Axe? Shadap! Bring Frost Bow #4 into line? RIP conjures.

Why has it taken this long for ANet to publicly aknowledge (then backtrack) on the frost bow? Well, track record. It took them 2 years to fix FGS. It wasn’t (just) imbalanced, it was demonstrably broken.

Why will Frost Bow be much longer to fix it? Much like FGS, trying to fix the bow has exposed underlying weaknesses inherent in the conjure category. The thing needs more than a few tweaks to damage/projectile count, almost every skill on it would probably need to be looked at to compensate. Then this opens the can of worms labelled “What about the rest of the conjures that almost nobody uses?”. Bam! 4x the work. Cue someone in management at ANet shaking their head and shuffling this to the bottom of the pile.

Sorry, but if you really see things into this way, you surely don’t know how to play elementalist.

I agree that Ice Bow is the most used, mainly on group dungeons due to its fast burst damage. But calling that none of the other weapons are used, or have uses? Guys, there’s a lot more content into the game than just dungeons, and anet don’t need to patch everything into one unique gameplay aspect. No matter how thye “Balance”, there will ALWAYS have some particular skill that are better than other, and thus will be more viable and always chosen.

As a ele main, I say to you that I still run Lightining hammer on solo battles A LOT, due to his nice dps and stuns. I still Use earth Shield every time I get mai trin, because the Earth shield #4 has a inciridble powerful invulnerable effeect that allows me tank mai into the aoe area to rip their stacks off. I also use FGS very regularly on open pve (Mainly for movment, I admit), only fire axe that I never tried to be honest.

So coming here saying “Ice bow need nerf to give more usability to other conjures” is just very overseen.

There are a lot of types of game content out there, its not only based on dungeons. And even if you nerf Ice bow (What would be very unfair), it would just make another meta skill in its place, not variability.

On a personnal note op, I play just and only for fractals 80% of my time.

Its abou the same as the SW farmers, only tought its my kind of elite content, since fractals 50 actually NEED’s different roles, just like you are pointing. (Grawl shaman is a good example of it). The difference, is that gw2 don’t support the “Classic” roles (aka trinity), it have a much higher versatility for roles. I’ll put examples for you:

Warrior = Dps Support (Phalanx strenght+empower allies, give the group more power).
Guardian = Reflects/heals (WoR, SoA, and Feel my wrath are incridibly powerful supportive skills).
Elementalist = Debilitating mobs (Gliph of storms can invalidate mobs with vulnerability, blinds, etc., frost bow can pretty much inutilize a boss for 5s)
Mesmer = Quick runs (He can literally stealth to pass trough some mobs, or portal the group to skip trashs, or give awesome quickness to the party)
Thief = Stealth group (More focused on skip trash on dungeons, and this is not bad tbh)
Ranger, engi and necro are the ones I agree that don’t have pretty good group roles, but they are op on pvp, so…

This game is not designed for classic trinity, and it is pretty good the way it is. Please people, stop trying to change the game to your own wish’s, you should realize that the way the game was build is what attracted a lot of people in first place, so changing it to the classic trinity is just unfair for the original purpose of the game, and original buyers.

It is not like you got fooled when you bought the game, it is very explicit that gw2 don’t work the same way as the 2nd generation or classic standard mmorpg’s. It is perfect the way it is.

On a final note : You are not obligated to run the game the same way as others, you can play gw2 ur own way without any problems, as long as you don’t invalidate other persons gameplay style.

He then, sends you the non-bound eternity to you, you unlock eternity and the preview 2 skins.
