No your not too late to the party, all you really need to do is level upto 80th level and give or take abit of gear which you can aquire over time your on a equalish footing to everyone else…

Rangers are fine…

Look through the players helping players section of the forum for hints/tips to surviving, best places to level etc,,,

Yeah, same here, the pet activates its f2 ability about 50% of the time, if it doesn’t trigger goes on a cool down…

Its very hit and miss…sometimes it refuses to trigger 2-3 times in row then it works…even when you have pet on avoid combat and stood next to you it sometimes doesn’t work…

Its this that needs fixing, rather than adjusting the activation times, doesn’t matter what the activation time is, if it refuses point blank to trigger…

Honestly, I would prefer if f2 permanently stowed your pet and you got a stat boost bringing you on a par with warriors. Pretty sure 90% of all rangers would then run without pets, which tells you everything you need to know about pets…

Done 3 runs…nothing…

Made a point of asking everyone else in the group if they got endless potion, jetpack, mini or receipe and each time it was a no, some of those had done multiple runs…

So that’s around 20 runs there…nothing…

It will be 1 in 10000, if your lucky…

The contents temporary, only 12 days long, so only a limited number of tonics…

Price will probably drop in the short term, next 12 days, as more come on the market, remain stable for a few weeks/months, then just continue to rise forever really with inflation…pretty much like any other rare one off item from limited time content.

Query: Rate this April 30th patch.

8/10 for me.

Only 2 things spoiled it for me, personally…

1) Another round of nerfing, Anet calls it balancing but its nerfing no mistake…

2) The temporary nature of the content, temporary is great for holiday events but all the other new conent should aim to leave permenant, repeat playable content behind…the game will get bigger and better…with a huge variety of activities to do…

On loot, you all know the infinite tonic can drop from chest currently 100g+ on TP…theres also the recipe for it too and a mini…

If you type molten into TP, the dungeon can drop upto 200g of items…of course they will be amazingly rare, like 1 in 10,000 or something but there you go…

It was Ok but i didnt liked the last stage of the final fight it was bunch of OP abilites that werent avoidable so you were forced spam “1” at max range, not that exciting if you ask me…

Or you could just use jump?

Its great for doing the monthly vet slayer…80% complete in 1 run…so that means you kill 80 vets in 1 run?

What loot is everyone getting? Done 2 runs so far, 1g to 1.5g per run, pretty poor really…but a few in my party got some rares dropping and 2 exotics…wondering if they had high MF…

Really enjoyed this dungeon, especially the bosses at the end, well done!

Probably the most enjoyable 1st dungeon run ever, compared to all the other 1st dungeon runs in other dungeons…

A real shame its only around 2 weeks…

I liked the dungeon, it was enjoyable and everyone knows the 1st time you run a dungeon you after wipe multiple times but this one we didn’t…makes for a nice change…my favourite was the 2 bosses at the end…

I think the dungeon should have a permanent home somewhere…

This constant temporary content is doing GW2 no favours…

I hate to break it to you, but you may be playing sPvP for the wrong reasons.

Well, I do play it for fun, but I like the sidelines of achievement points, glory and ranking points. Who knows, one day you might get something worthwhile with them…

With the longer dailys, bugs and what not I think I will boycott PvP for May and hope for better in June…now I am off to do the new dungeon and WvW…cya…

You might have missed it, but they are starting to split skills between PvE-WvW-PvP with todays update.

About time…balancing in PvP has had a huge negative impact on PvE and WvW…

Only about 10% of GW2 players play PvP, the vast majority play PvE & WvW, so balancing the game around PvP was always a BAD idea…

Is Mesmer hard to use?

I don’t think they are hard to use…

A lot of people say they are squishy upto about level 40 but so far my Mesmer’s only died 21 times, well my Elementalist has died 80 times and my Necromancer 60 times, so I find Mesmers the least squishy of all the light armour classes…

The illusions are fantastic in PvP as well, they confuse people a lot, they target your illusion instead of you…

I would go with a human or norn (the best looking races), character wise a Mesmer is best of the light armoured characters and light armour is the best looking in the game. Guardians are good too but they wear heavy armour, you may not look as good but you will be a lot tougher.

Both classes are very popular ingame and wanted in partys.

Can’t see a GW2 movie working…if it stayed true to the game you would start off as Gandalf (awesome and powerful) and end up as Paul Daniels (a average magician), after Anet nerfs your Elementalist into the ground…

1) Sort dungeons out! Especially the first 2 AC & CM, make them fun and friendly, places to learn dungeon skills for the harder dungeons down the road…

2) Give engineers a role in the game, currently every engineer pretty much runs with grenade or bomb kits and no you can’t nerf them or they would have nothing!

3) Fix the AI for Necro minions, Ranger pets, all the other classes summons and npcs, its still bad but it is slightly better then the appalling state it was on release…

4) Keep on top of the bugs! The last few months have been a lot better but I have noticed more creeping back recently, there are a lot in the mid range zones 25-70, probably because there are less players there to report them…

5) Make a 5th map for WvW, it will help with queues.

6) Design some way of trading your ascended gear in to get a different piece of ascended gear ie…one with different stats for a different build you want to run with…

7) Make a epic scavenger hunt that takes you to the 4 corners of Tyria, is very, very hard and time consuming to complete but rewards you with a precursor at the end…

8) Give new players to Gw2 more help! You tend to punish new players, who are way behind anyone who played from the start and need a boost or three…

9) Make new permanent dynamic events for already existing zones.

10) Use the bueatiful open world of Tyria a lot more, don’t just lock everything away in instances…

11) Make a LFG system (a little hint battlenet is one of the best EVER designed…)

Go ahead and waste time pinging your zerk from bags, you’ll be detected for having lacking dps (@4acolytes or 4 braziers) and will get kicked eventually (deservedly so too). Don’t join if you don’t conform. Go make your own MF party lol, enjoy waiting staring at your gw2lfg post.

The more dps the party outputs, the faster bosses melt, the less chance players have to go down and drag the run. What’s so hard for you to understand that? If you don’t want to join a 5min p1 run party or w/e, then don’t complain and join a normal p1 party.

All I’m seeing is OP asking for kitten and paying with fake bills and complaining he needs real bills to get his fun…

Soon ANet will revamp CoF speedruns… That will be the funniest day of my GW2 life.

The screams of pain, anguish and frustration when that happens…not to mention the endless I am quiting threads…lol

newbie crafting questions

If you only want two crafts, I would go with cooking & artificer, they are cheap to get to 400, only 4-8gold for both, +20 levels, do them with a crafting booster/ a day before WvW reset to make it cheaper/get more levels…google the crafting guides…

You can make your own food at 80th level and your own potions/oils/stones etc for your spanner/apple buffs…

No I wouldn’t start a new character unless you want some alts, warriors are pretty good in WvW, I would continue levelling him.

You can pretty much change everything about your warrior now except personal story and perhaps some other minor things that really don’t matter much anyway.

Go to WvW btw and have a look at the vendors, at your level the karma one, then you know what equipment to aim for, get all rares fist of all from karma vendor then earn badges of honour for all your exotics…

Warriors are getting some nice buffs in the upcoming patch as well…so good timing…

You could perhaps level him to 80th level in WvW but you may die a lot, because your underpowered…also you could fast level him via crafting…+20 levels from cooking/artificer will cost 4-8 gold…just google the guides…will take a few hours to do…a crafting booster + doing it just before the WvW reset will get more levels/cost less…

I think if that’s how people enjoy playing GW2, then let them get on with enjoying themselves and having FUN…

At least COF is POPULAR with people happy to repeat the same content over and over again…

I would leave COF alone…

AC is a good example of how changing a dungeon can go badly wrong, before the ‘improvements’ it was a very, very popular dungeon, now 80% of players who used to run it refuse to do so now…

All my fingers aand toes are crossed that the new dungeon this month is a good one, worth repeating over and over again because its that good…

I would improve the loot rewards of all the other dungeons bit by bit until people started running a variety…

Also the 1st 2 dungeons you encounter AC & CM make them new player friendly…

The later dungeons, plus high level Fractals make alot harder than now for those that want the ‘challenge’…

I think its very, very unfair to say GW2 has no endgame, there is plenty now…

1) WvW.
2) Guild missions.
3) A lot of dungeons with 1 story + 3 exp paths.
4) Fractals.
5) PvP.
6) 3 Orr zones.
7) Frostgorge Sound.
8) Southsun Cove.
9) Leaderboard positions.
10) Armour/weapon skins.
11) Achievement points.
12) The ‘hard’ difficulty jumping puzzles.
13) Get 1 or more legendary skins.
14) 100% map completion.
15) Become a member of all 3 orders.
16) Complete personal story.
17) Ascended gear.

Plus every month they add new content, for free…

GW2 can’t be accused of having nothing to do at endgame its just blatently unfair…

If you burn through all that, then NO GAME from any development company is going to satisfy you…you will just after play 2-3 different ones and move between them…

Where did you hear this? If the opponent had 20 stacks what if the thief didn’t have 20 stacks? lol

I am happy with the changes to Ranger in this patch, Rangers seem to have got a little love…

I don’t think the changes to spirits will make them a viable build in a competive arena which is sad…as I would love to use them at some point!

I really welcome the pet changes, not sure if the reduced pet aggro will work but I live in hope…

One idea mentioned in the SOFTG vid was a toggle switch for your F2 pet ability, so you could switch it to other pet skills…THIS WOULD BE AWESOME and I hope they consider implementing it in the future, it would open up a lot of build diversity for rangers…for example having control of when your pet pounces (knockback) or heals or immobilizes…instead of the rng we have now…

The only objection the devs had was it might be confusing for new players but if its on a toggle then they would just use the normal f2 skill, while we variety builders get to play about with a lot more build options…

Really, really good idea by that player in the vid btw…

What do people think of the nerfing of boons too…

They have been nerfed in 2 ways, Warriors will get a +3% damage bonus for each boon your opponent has up, so if your opponent has 5 boons, warriors get +15% damage. Going to get another skill change as well that makes the damage unblockable…

Confusion only kills you if you use autoattack mainly, or if you do not notice the condition on your screen and continue to use your skills, both avoidable and entirely in your own hands…

A 50% reduction in damage is a over the top nerf in my opinion…

The reasons they give is the mechanic was having a negative impact on new players and they were not comfortable with people being unable to to use there own skills…

Just don’t use autoattack in WvW or PvP and whenever you see the confusion condition, only press condition removal or heal…so easy…

I have got good news for everyone, the devs said in the state of the game video (which I just watched), that this patch is the last ‘big’ balancing patch (otherwise known as nerf the hell out of a random class for a laugh patch) for a while, going to concentrate on bug fixes instead while they assess the ‘balance’ changes they have done the last 3 months…

So cheer up good news, get over this months nerfs and you can buy gear, equip your character in the knowledge they are safe for a month or 3…

Having watched the video, its only confusion Mesmers in WvW, PvP and Elementalists who run mistform/ride the lightning who need to throw there toys out of the pram this month…

Viz dominating is not Troma’s fault its down to basic math Viz has 3 times the number of people on its server than either sfr or Des. Even if sfr & Des had a alliance, Viz would still outnumber them…theres just more chance at any time of there being 3 Viz playing WvW than 1 sfr or Des…

Another bad way WvW is designed is the complete lack of movement between tiers…the current system is exactly the same as if in the English Premier league, Manchester United, Manchester City & Chelsea spent all season playing each another match in match out and then which ever came out on top at the end of the season was declared champions without the other 17 teams in the premiership having any say at all…

Its a very silly design…

If you work it out 1000g / 1643 hrs = 61s per hour…

61s per hour isn’t that good really, a lot of people can earn 2-3g per hour and some wiz kids, 5-10g per hour…

But still 1000g deserves a well done…

Yes, I know this will create unequal match ups but you have that now…it will create chances of every now and again having some really, really fun weeks in WvW, fighting against different opponents, who use different tactics, so you after adapt instead of the same week in week out…

Finally, but what about the leaderboard?

Well, you can still have one, points score as normal, just vs different opponents, I would say a scoreboard based on fighting different opponents every week is a better reflection of which is number 1 server, than the current method of fighting the same 2 every week…

Anyway, if anyone likes this idea who reads this +1 it and make a comment if you like…

I am in agreement too, its much better/more efficient use of the developers time to add permanent content that players can do over and over again if they should wish to do so.

It means GW2 over a period of time will build up huge amounts of content and hopefully retain more players, attract more players back to play and continue to attract new players.

The only possible negative would be if the playing population gets too thinned out with all the content on offer…however that could easily be solved…a large amount of players go where the best loot is, so each month you could have better loot zones…

So one month you may get double chances of loot if you dungeon run, the next month if you WvW, the next doing Jumping Puzzles and so on and so forth…

They could even use this idea to help with the precursor problem or the lodestone problem or anything else that’s wrong in the economy…

Well, minus the whole 3-D aspect of it, yeah, you’re probably right. Of course judging any classic platform or adventure game by it’s first 1/4 would get it lower scores. There are definitely problems in translating the tight, instant control of those old games into a 3 dimensional MMO engine with established mechanics. Despite that, I think by the time we are done we would get a review like this in Game Pro magazine in 1991: Graphics: 4 Sound: 5 Control: 3 Fun Factor:5. We’ll see.

Just want to make it clear I don’t hate SAB at all, I think its a good unique holiday event. Making it a constant once a year, April holiday event would be perfect in my opinion.

Anyway, good luck with SAB.

Link waypoint in map and say champion/group event whatever it is…some people will always usually turn up…they will probably want it for there daily…

There are loads of people in game, they are:

1) In WvW
2) In Fractuals
3) In another dungeon
4) Doing or waiting for a world event.

I have refrained from saying what my view is on SAB, as a lot of people enjoy it…so fair enough its only a April thing no problem really…

However, I lived through the 80’s, 90’s which were when platform games were at there peak, a lot of increasingly better more awesome ones were released then…

If you took SAB back in time to the late 80’s and released it as a game in its own right what would it score/review be like?

You can get a free emulator and play completely free platform games from that time and there are loads that are far, far better…

This will spoil the story/lore part of the living story flame &frost for me too, other players in my pug group will cancel the cutscenes to get there loot faster…

I will be forced to go at snails pace watching the cutscenes and missing all the action or miss out the story part and run with my team, not really knowing whats going on…

Its a repeat of the end of your personal story and what spoiled the PERSONAL story for all of us…

The solution is simple there should have been a path mode for those who just want there loot as fast as possible…and a story mode that you could do on your own with just npc’s + anyone you invite in…(like the Rex/Bram instances)…
