8 runs of Cof lol…
hahhahha you read my mind.
This is not a MMO*R*PG but a MMOPG… Roles here are meaningless, pointless and most of the times rejected and criticized.
- Support didn’t rely on out-healing damage, but mitigating damage.
I would disagree on that point, support is made to make people better at what they are already doing and/or make up for what they lack, or do the opposite for the enemy. IE, you actually support your teammates’ strategies and play, unlike in most games where you just prevent the tank from dying and make up for the DPS’ many many stupid mistakes.
I think ANet did a pretty good job at this, excepting that several classes really can’t support hard enough to be worth a full build, and no class can build off-support, which was supposed to be viable but is instead laughable because of how usekitten on and condition duration are without a full build, not to mention some of the inexcusable stack limits…
They did a horrible job in the support field… ever since the most zerked warrior can cast the exact same buffs with the exact same effect as a dedicated and specced support ele or guardian (just placing classes as examples). I can be full DPS character and auto-cast fury and might and bla bla bla, why would I need a support character? there is NONE support role in this game.,
Manga and Norn… this is mixing Barby with Conan The Barbarian. wtf!
One Shot skills plus time limit is lazy design… please en light me how a Cleric-build character can L2P to kill her? Oh yeah… Clerics are bad because Cleric =/= Zerk.
So tell me, did they fail here? or while doing specs? Because evidently, they failed one place or the other if both things created by the same team have a conflict with each other.
Besides, I can easily say that if she didn’t kill me in the time limit I win, not her. Why should it be backwards?
I do agree but up to some extend.
I mean, some GW1 armors were beautiful and some were hideous. Some that you mention are still here. Krytan for medium for example. Kurzick armor looks VERY similar to COE heavy. Elite Ascalonian its very similar to the one you get with halls of heroes points (meaning you inherit the armor from your ancestors? thats a nice way to put it lol); Gladiator armor (evolved a bit but it is still here), etc etc.-
Most ascalonian war weapons are still here. Winged shield and sword, Glass Sword (Spark); Ascalonian Hammer, Fractal weapons are like Mursat weapons (little bit more modern but both from the myst); you still have the dragon fire (and Ice) sword, etc etc…
There are a lot of models imported from GW1
You do understand that the LFG announces that are THAT strict for gear usually tend to be CoF farming runs that intent to do like 1h or 2h straight dungeon farming, not a single run right?
That or they look for DPS players for Arah path 4.
I’m at work atm, can’t check; but last time it wasn’t only for COF. It is a stupid trend getting more attached to kids heads nowadays.
BTW; I did Arah 4 a few times (got my dungeon master last year and Im not a zerk warrior) and the smoothest runs are always with balanced teams. All Zerks tend to fail/skip/pull few mobs quite often. I preffer to pull ten mobs and not fail instead of watching my steps inside, that demands lot of time as well. Though I admit that Simin fight last year was ridiculous. I don’t know how it is today but it did need tonz of damage to get through.
Increase dungeon mobs! make them chase you to death!!!
People demanding zerk (pugs on gw2lfg), joke is on you… the time you waste waiting for that fifth zerk player is longer than the extra time for taking another character instead.
Genious guys… Genious…
If all you care is to do it fast cause your life is so full of important things to do, then you better take whoever 4 you can get and have it done in 20 mins rather than waiting an extra 15 mins to do the run in another 15 mins…. obviously time and efficiency is not the problem here but being an elitist kid.
PS: “Since we wan’t to do this AS FAST AS POSSIBLE!!! (AKA save 5 mins?) you will have to link every piece of gear and we are going to read if it is zerk or not!” <—- Zerk elitist logic, not very smart lol
(edited by Mesket.5728)
get a teleport riffle for a few copper and you are done.
They didn’t think this much through
Norns need more chest hair!!!! (?)
To be honest, the only animation that really annoys me is the 1h sword attack (and sometimes the axe)
I mean it was great that they tried to make it attack aiming low because he is taller but most of the times what happens is that my norn looks like trying to tie his shoelaces with his weapon. He looks silly looking and hitting the ground-.
They should reduce base stats (HP, armor, heal efficiency) and make it scale better with gear.
Zerk players will really be zerk and Risk/Reward balance restored
Honestly, I don’t quite like the idea.
Protection is already too powerful of a bunker boon. It literally makes or breaks a traditional “bunker” setup. Similarly, Might is easily the best damage boon in the game, giving 875 Power at 25 stacks.
And besides, how would you stack it? Most boons stack duration, so how would you stack those boons when you have different sources of them giving different amounts of it? Because that’s gonna add to the bandwidth load and that’s already the reason we have a condition stack cap.
You can always turn boons down to balance a new stat. I mean, balance can always be redone but conceptually this is a new stat that provides a new gearing strategy for players that doesn’t want to be the cookie cutter. Not everyone has fun being full zerk and doing exactly the same as the other 4 in your group in a team player role based game.
where is the role in mmorpg if everyone plays the SAME role? the game is turning very stupid lately
There is nothing better than DPS in this game, and zerker gear maximises DPS. Therefore, how is it not the best?
Well,… the vast majority of the player base is constantly dead because they THINK they know how to play in this gear…
New stat for gear:
(could be merged with boon duration)
Boon Power: Scakitten ons up.
I’m not going to do the math since there would be a dedicated more trained team for that but the concept is quite simple: Improves boons:
Might would provide more power and condition damage
Fury scales up giving instead of 20, 21, 22, 23… % of crit
Protection reduces more damage
Vigor granting more endurance faster
The idea behind is to empower the support role making it not only viable but wanted in groups.
well you answered yourself in point 3…. if you only made alts to get extra rewards then you are doing it wrong.
Genfar, I see your point exactly.
In my case there are 2 things bugging me about this game.
1) Zerk players becoming a trend (Blame ANet for content bad designed)
2) particle FX on skins. This game advertised as something great and revolutionary…
its turning more and more into another WoW but without strategy (which is kind of even worst).
folks this is what happens when you hype yourself into oblivion about a game you haven’t played. The only thing that Arenanet ever claimed to be revolutionary is the Dynamic event system other than that they never claimed anything more than that.
As for the whole strategy, in some respect you are right but gw2 has more potential than WOW ever does for interesting fights since everybody could be an active participate and not a tank simply spamming buttons while dps stand back and go through their rotation and the healer spamming heals.
Dynamic Events didn’t come with GW2. Warhammer Public Quests had been around for quite a few years now and they were amazing.
The “revolutionary” thing that GW2 introduced were the “no tanks/healers” and 3 “new” roles: Damage, Control and Support.
They messed up completely giving Support to damage roles (Might, Fury, etc… they don’t scale… there is no “boon potency” stat that makes my Might or Fury better than yours (Take note DEVS!!!!)). Also, control doesn’t play much of a role since it is weak, very weak; real control skills last for just a few seconds and where you mostly needed (like a boss fight) they have defiance (which is a fine mechanic, maybe a bit too strong somtimes).
If anything can be done using only zerk gear, then there was a HUGE fail from the designer team and they need to take a second look. I mean, playing in full Zerk should’ve been something elitist and in GW2 is the average Joe. Where is the punishment for not having anything else but damage? Why do Zerk players wonder around without a support player besides them? Why do support players who struggle for team play get rejected and called selfish (this is probably the biggest gaming irony I’ve seen so far)? It’s obvious that something went wrong from the paper to the implementation.
Solution.. Remove zerker gear from the game. And Im serious too. You’ll start to see every other build flourish, more diversity, no more elitism, groups accepting everyone, and more group harmony.
This will make a lot of people angry and drive them to quit the game possibly, but Im dead serious.
I love this idea. I really do. I know we don’t always see eye to eye, but not this time.
Lol it will be hardcore but so good… but I’m afraid people will move to the next damage build.
Warriors don’t have a problem with retaliation since they got no fast-hitting attacks and high hp-pool to offset the damage. No wonder you can’t see just how powerful retal is.
Dual shot, fan of fire, axe chain, whirling axe, hb, mariners frenzy, repeating shot, tsunami slash, volley, split shot, tremor, whirlwind attack, dual strike, combustive shot.
Anything else?
Flurry.
And personally I would feel like adding sword autoattack to that list. While it has only 3 attacks, it’s still faster than any of our other chains. In fact, considering the length of Triple Chop, you can almost get off 2 rotations of the sword autoattack in the time it takes for 1 rotation of the axe autoattack.
b) Using burst skills triggers protection for 5 seconds or Aegis for 10.
The first one, my friend, is an extremely bad idea. With 30 into Discipline, you’re guaranteed 1 burst every 7.75 seconds. That would amount to 65% uptime on Protection with no boon duration. And getting it up from there to 100% wouldn’t be much of an effort.
Heck, as someone running Axe MH with Furious and Sharpened Axes, I can literally fill up adrenaline from 0 to max in about 4 seconds. And I’m running 0/30/20/0/20.
Make it 3 seconds, like I said I didn’t thought much of it. Not doing math here, merely speaking conceptually what I think it would be a good addition for the warrior defense line.
OP
If you run CoF1 6 times a day, and are worried of having to do it 16 times to get the same results; ANet did you a great favor…. maybe not now but somewhere in the near future you will see it.
You really thought they would put any effort to it? measure time/effort for each path?
No man, not until they add more flames and lightning to my underwear! It needs more particle FX. Screw logic and dungeon designs.
I mean… 5 zerk players can do any dungeon, they really didn’t care much to design the properly, why add a proper reward?
I’M AWESOME!!!
You lost me on the “you deliver a critical melee hit”
I was expecting something more original than yet another “when you crit” effect.
If it is a grandmaster major trait in the defense line it should be defensive (protection was nice) and trigger on a OMG! situation, not when you are killing a bunny.
Hey, Why not offer your own?
Its nice to be a critic, but when your not giving me any juice it just seems like your downing me.
You are right, but I didn’t give it much thought.
If I have to start thinking of something for 30 defense, I would go with something like:
a) damage reduced by adrenaline 3%, 6% and 9% or 4%, 8% and 12% (we have crit, damage, heal but no mitigation).
b) Using burst skills triggers protection for 5 seconds or Aegis for 10.
This will improve the defense line using our class mechanic. Any of those would be a nice addition to our set up.
message is clear, kitten democracy!
HASTA LA VICTORIA SIEMPRE!
Genfar, I see your point exactly.

Flashy players thinking they are the reborn Satan with fire, dragons and demon armor (or all white with lights like they are all angels, wtf); of course, all full DPS using the biggest weapon they can find.
I’ve been playing a PVT Warrior (Axe/Shield and Hammer) since Head Start and I never had a problem with any content. I got my Dungeon Master last year and I’m still using the same build. Why? because I think is the most effective and representative of my class. I have lots of CC skills, good damage (highest power you can get unbuffed), block skills, etc…
Yesterday was the proof. I had a blast with the event, my GF (she plays an arcane elem and learned her way to support like no other) and I were farming those champs having a laugh while the map chat was a river of tears from all the Zerks who think they can play like the videos getting killed over and over again by the vets and AOE skills.
Don’t follow the trends or the masses… most of them just follow what they read without a proper analysis, and they don’t realize they are not as good players as they think and most of them fail badly.
The point is that more DPS > More survivability in this game. Because most of your survivability is based on your ability to not get hit by the 1 shot in the first place.
You do realize that after certain point in defensive stats nothing one shots you anymore, don’t you? Nothing even takes 1/2 your HP in one attack. Most lvl 80 champions with few exceptions can be kill by right click, go to the kitchen, make a sandwich, come back, eat it while your toon kills it in autopilot, regenerating more HP than the champ is taking from you (those few exception might require some dodging).
Anyway, don’t assume that everyone has the same computer, internet connection that you have.
For example, I’m from Argentina. My ping is always around 450. 300 if I’m lucky, 750 during pick hours. Have you ever tried to dodge on time not once, but repeatedly with a random amount of lag near one second delay in any action you do? Ok, it’s no fun, trust me. Going defense its not a choice for some players, not everyone can play the game like you do.- Besides, I still disagree that it’s a waste. I find it more useful than you would think. Mobbing ridiculous amounts of mobs its also funny. Charging Leroy Jenkin style in most dungeon and having your party kitten their pants its also fun. It’s a same that almost everyone in this game uses the same trend in stats.
(edited by Mesket.5728)
Mobs usually go for the highest toughness, as a full zerk mostly pugging arah, lupi never runs to me first, never, colesy’s statement about bosses attacking highest damage is very wrong, if it isn’t, then pvt rangers do more damage than 100b full zerk…
This is all speculation. Simply put we do not know how aggro works. The best Idea we have so far is 5 points
- closest proximity
- any DPS
- top DPS
- most armor
- shield equipped
But we don’t know how those are weighted at all or how they interact. I can say from experience that I have walked past people fighting mobs that suddenly decide to attack me, I wasn’t even in the fight at all but I’m the highest threat to them.
And we’ve all been in that situation where a boss just will not leave you alone the whole fight. You are dealing less damage than everyone because you are constantly dodging or healing but still he wont leave you alone.
*Aggro is a coin toss right now. somewhere between those 5 points is where a “Tank” should be but since we don’t know, and there is no snap aggro, tanking is worthless. Even Mr 35k hp 4000 armor admitted to times when his party member gets focused and killed because he cant get or keep aggro. *
Oh no, trust me, I’m narrowing it down… its the very very veeeery weak targets that gets it and it seems to be set on stone. When I run with someone extremely weak then its always like that. Most of the time running a friend’s alt.
All I can say is that heavy defensive oriented stats (maxed, not that knight gear using GS lie) 99.999% of the times gets the aggro against zerk players BUT you don’t get to see that much don’t you?
None of you have even mentioned that condition damage is not mitigated by toughness and armor. CD bypasses all that and is straight up direct damage while the damage from raw power is decreased based on the defenders stats.
That’s a huge difference and one of the reasons I can take out a warrior or a guardian 90% of the time as an engineer. All that heavy armor does nothing, I’m applying more conditions than you can cleanse, and I move better than you.
well the moment you (hypothetically) choose to wear ALL Zerk… is the moment you choose to get kitten d by the first raccoon that appears. It’s not the game fault if people uses 0 vitality to counter conditions.
Damage, proximity and toughness are the main factors.
Aggro based on toughness in boss encounters seems to be really random in my experience. Whenever I’m in pugs, for reason I’m always an aggro magnet playing full glass cannon.
9/10 players are glass cannons. Most accurate asumption will be that you were running with other glass cannons… most of the times… if not any time… all the time.
And just how are you going to be tanking when the enemies are hitting the guy doing the most damage instead?
So much truth
this kind of truth is relative to your own experiences.
In my case, they just don’t, at least not in my party. Somehow (and seriously somehow cause i have no idea how it works behind the curtain) game’s secret aggro formula works just perfect with me (almost 4K armor, 35K hp, 3.6K attak power, always shield on and closest target to the mob). It is sooooo rare that any mob choose a different character than me that it only occurs when a character is SO weak (around 15 levels lower) that it stick to it until its portrait is gray. Besides that case, that never happens.
Still nice to see monkeys jumping and panicking with red circles “aaahhh I’m lvl 80 with less than 20K hp!!! aaaaaah!!!”
Why do they need to jump around in panic? It’s your job as a Tank to help them out, isn’t it?
Because the only thing he can actually tank are forum members after casting trollbait.
shhhhhh
no srsly, glass cannons are fun! free XP bags to pick from the ground with the F key… usually followed by a “ty” chat message.
/popcorn
hahaha like seriously?
http://dulfy.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/gw2-champion-weapon-skins-31.jpg
Is that a greatsword??? it looks like floating confetti!
I just took a look…
All I can say is that the aliens are taking our weapons and replacing them with Christmas decorations.
I mean… its been a long time since I haven seen anything so horrible for a game concept art,… probably since WOW’s Burning Crusade.
OP
Just try it. Go to sPVP lobby and try ANY condition build with ANY class/build/gear.
Try to find one that you think is OP. Analyze those results with a full Zerk character doing raw damage… I think you will see that conditions are not really that OP (considering that not only you but your surroundings can remove them, if only they were not focused on only than damage).
TLDR: It takes more than one player to kill you with conditions. Conditions are far from deadly if you equip something to counter them.
So let me get this straight… Only 180 tokens per day? No repeating on alts?
Kinda harsh.
Still gives you the “aahh! help! im on fire” skin for a few days running. VERY easy achievement for someone committed to it if you compare it with other games.
And just how are you going to be tanking when the enemies are hitting the guy doing the most damage instead?

I love zerk players. I love to see them dance and jump and roll on the floor while I’m face-tanking stuff. Its like a monkey show for me.
ERMEGHERD DPS!!!!!!!!!
/flameshield
You won’t be able to farm it, tokens and gold are now once per day per path. Try it out and see you’ll only get 60 tokens first run and nothing on future runs.
I think its time to move on, love dungeons and now their pointless
No, you are wrong…
you get 180 tokens. 60 for each path. If you wan’t to farm a dungeon at least have the decency to run all paths and not just the one for kids.
I’m not really a fan of the glowing effects on skins. Part of the reason is because so many people gravitate towards the few armors that have them (ooo shiny!) that everyone starts looking the same.
They do look all the same don’t they? It’s like they are trying to force that glowing piece to look good with a set that doesn’t match.
I still have a good laugh using “Water Bucket” against full CoF armor players.
Rest in peace… in peace… seriously… in peace… no no,… in peace… yeah,… you get that, in peace….
Ps. Nice duck caller to lure all the CoF farmers together lol
I prefer shiny effects. I don’t like anything that is bland and dark.
With shine you mean that reflect lights or that casts its own light?
There is a HUGE difference between those 2.
I thought CoF (people on fire! lol) was an exception within their art… now im starting to get worried what kind of game is it going to be. The biggest asset GW2 has (for me at least) was their art. Which is being destroyed patch after patch. Warriors with fairy holographic wings its just to much to take hahaha
I think it would be nice to have a “hide armor and weapons FX” checkbox on options.
(edited by Mesket.5728)
Does everyone like glowing skins?
There are so many good looking armor with different fabric textures worked on… its a shame you need sunglasses to walk on LA nowadays…
What do you think of the way ANet is taking our outfits? Do you like all the glowing introduced?
In my opinion… its looking more and more like a cheap game. I prefer armors and weapons where you can distinguish leather and metal rather than floating crystals casting lightnings and flames.
I mean, does it really fits the concept art to see a ranger lvl 10 ranger with his hands dropping melted rock? seriously? Lava falling from his hands? Just my opinion, cast yours!
Transformations are bad. Period. They are a bad designed feature in the game. There is not a single transformation that comes handy in the game.
They tweak Rampage and it is still a horrible HORRIBLE elite skill and that is in the best scenario the “stronger” version of our elite transformations.
There really is no hope for our elite skills.
besides, its impossible to argue with people who “Leopard is fine for stealth”. ANet really needs to query their database and check how many people uses it and get some scorecards. Its not that hard to notice with solid information that the whole set of 4 elite skills that costs a total of 90 SP are a total waste.

I’m asking the same thing for the price of a coca soda for the last 20 years…. will it ever go down again?
Nope, you will probably see it worst.
Yes a lot of helmets remove facial hair from your character. Might be because of clipping issues
I prefer the clipping rather than the reduced manliness in a Norn!
You know how to shave like a man?
http://weknowgifs.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/how-to-shave-your-beard-like-a-man.gif
Reduce the hips and you will have a Norn that cant even hold his own weight.
Seriously, the last thing we need is anime looking Norns. Let Norns be Norns and play skinny humans if you choose Vogue models to be your toon.
Reduce the hips… pttsss..
To avoid the holy trinity roles such as tank and healer.
If you figure out and predict with a 100% accuracy who will keep the mob on, you might as well build that one character for tanking and go back to how we played MMOs before.
Right now you can have a very accurate guess if you ever played a melee character with a defensive build but its not a guaranteed shot.
You run 3 or 4 runs to cof 1 you are farming it thus being a cof farmer, deal with it. I’m not saying you are a bad person or a bad player but at some extend you are indeed a cof farmer. Even if you cut it off a day or two. Don’t be mad at it. It’s not your fault, the game should be balanced reward-wise at all aspects of it and not have this places with big spikes of income. Its the reward unbalance that is pushing players to farm the same spot over and over.
