Dev Room: “Meteorlogicus… hmm… not a greatsword… NEXT!”
That has absolutely nothing to do with what you just quoted.
All PvE content can be completed with any gear stat combination, it’s just quicker to do it with others.
Yes, it has to do with that. It means that whenever they fix the game to make all gear stats needed and have complex, team based content; instead of celebrating it we will be swimming in zerk tears.
and why cant i transmute trinkets?
Transmute is for skins. Trinkets has no skin.
Passing the upgrade item from one piece of gear to another using a transmute stone is just an accident in the technique.
In a game with no expensive consumables, with no need to upgrade gear constantly… why is people so eager to get gold? Why do you even need gold to begin with?,… Yes, there we go… Legendaries (and other expensive luck/gold exclusive skins).
you need a total of 120,5 gold for a legendary nothing more and there is no skin thats gold exclusive(some are more rare then others) but gold gives you a shortcut for getting a legendary or rare skin as its alot faster that way
Guys!!! Listen!!! Korsbaek told us we only need 120,5g for a legendary!!! We are all wrong!!!
but… maybe… if I want to do it befooore year 2073 with the current drop rates… hmmm… perhaps I need a few more hundreds/thousand.-
One of the options you have is also to make the new loot soul bound (prevent mail sending) and not crafting mat till you actually “refine” it at a crafting place.
like that what ever the way you use to get that mat from the chest you have to send the actual toon that opened the chest back to a crafting place to turn it into a usable crafting mat that is not soulbound.
from there if you want to jump the puzzle again to parck your alt at the top it’s fine since you’ll actually jump it to the top.for the mesmer port problem, not all the jP can be ported to the end, just keep the new rewards for those that cant be ported to!
Or I could push B go to my borderlands and log out, putting me right back at the top of the JP
then make it so that you need two different kind of soulbound unrefined mat to get one rifined not souldbound ascended crafting mat like that the same toon as to go to 2 different JP a day in order to get what you need
How needlessly grindy. Then I would just buy them from the tp from all the botters and hackers rather than waste time on boring puzzles.
T7 mats will be account bound. You won’t be able to wallet them…
Source.
Regardless, this is all extending from Markof’s crying over people parking at JP’s. Whichever way it’s done, it wont pose a problem.
Accountbound? Park 7-12 chars at JP chests.
Vendable? Buy them from the TP.One is a timegating method that keeps people playing, the other is a gold sink. Either way players lose and anet wins.
Time gated account bound.
1 per account per day per JP.-
Make sure to park them on different JPs.

Jumping puzzles (along with mini-dungeons) will be some of the locations that begin rewarding ascended crafting materials once crafting to 500 goes live; this is intended to help make these areas more rewarding and fun to go back to and play.
We already called national geographic to document the exodus from the champions to the jumping puzzles.
Get ready to see the flood of players on LA’s JPs and the posts like “Hey! I have 16 accounts but now I can’t do the JPs more than 100 times a day because the game recognize my IP address!”
They stated recently that we would be able to craft precursors (god knows when). Just wait for those if you don’t want to deal with the RNG (which I agree is kinda bullkitten).
Recently???? this was said november/december last year!!! yes… keep waiting…
Until this game has a real end game goal Legendaries will remain the ultimate carrot on a stick for all players, whether they recognize that or not. How to achieve this? by ridiculous luck or ridiculous gold farming… either way, how you get one is a lazy design and it forcing players to play farming wars 2. Look at the forums, read what bothers the players the most, see what is troubling and what is not… you will realize it is like this.

I’m loving the hype on Ascended gear that first announced near December last year… yes guys! next “couple” of months… lol it will roll out with the scavenger hunt for precursors hahaha for real!
how about if you defeat a series of hard bosses (like liadri) would give you one of the compnonents for legendary. It would mean the user had to beat them at some point rather than just mindlesly farm it up..
No because that would actually make sense and it is against the game logic.
You have to think of something that people can wallet out and will them here for a very long time.
Indeed, me too. I’d like to have a read up on this.
However I wouldn’t expect a solid answer on the specifics until they’ve finalised the details, but a glimpse at what they have planned would be nice.
Here:
“New Crafting Material Rewards
We’ll also add a new set of account-bound crafting materials to the game. You’ll receive these materials as guaranteed rewards once per day per unique location for completing content within a category of gameplay in Guild Wars 2.
For example, capturing camps, towers, and keeps in WvW will earn you these crafting materials. In the Living World, you can earn them for killing giant world bosses, defeating dungeons, completing jumping puzzles, completing mini-dungeons, finishing some types of guild missions, capturing temples in Orr, and other activities.
Mix it up and try your favorite mini-dungeons one day, your favorite jumping puzzles the next day, and on an another day capture supply camps in WvW instead to earn the crafting material. Or if you want to do all three in one day, the choice is yours! Players can earn each of these guaranteed reward crafting materials from a variety of content across both PvE and WvW to give players choice in what type of content they enjoy."
This means you can get these new crafting materials doing whatever you like.
When it comes to T7 materials:
“Crafting Taken to 500!
We’ll expand all crafting professions to allow them to reach a new milestone: 500 points!
At 500, crafters will be able to craft ascended weapons and armor. Once you reach 500, a new tier of crafting materials will be available to you; this new tier of materials will be made by combining lower tier materials. This tier is time-constrained, so each item can only be made once per day in order to help give high-level crafters their own economy of items to build and sell that retain their value and rarity."New crafting materials + T7 materials will be used in this way:
“This new tier of crafting material [T7], along with the new guaranteed material rewards mentioned earlier and some other materials we’ll introduce will be used to craft ascended weapons, armor, and more. These weapons and armor will also be able to be found as rare drops from locations in the world. Ascended weapons and armor will remain account-bound like other ascended gear.”
When it comes to Legendary Gear and Precursors:
“Building your precursor will require a large amount of the new crafting material rewards listed above, 500 in crafting, and likely a combination of other items earned for completing more specific content in the game.”
All of this is taken from the article that the OP linked, above.
So after all T7 will only come from combining T6… and only the new crafting material will come time-gated… so its not you get them by playing but most likely given to you at login and hope we can see you again tomorrow.
For the people who said this game didn’t need farming! so long and thanks for all the fish.- Good luck farming more and more and more and endless ammounts of items with an extremely low chance of drop. Let the price of T6 raise to the moon with the increased demand. This will become soon enough the biggest farmfest MMO, which is kind of a funny irony if you go and read notes before release.
I used to love wandering around maps with my GF looking for champs to “challenge”… now I’m limited to do it in low lvl maps to avoid the zerk-zerg.
Game is getting boring and boring…
I stopped playing on March… on March I already waited ascended (and precursors scavenger hunt) for at least 2 months… Why is people still confident that Anet will deliver?
The story is getting very exciting. I love the complexity of the story, how there is all these hints interwoven throughout the game. Makes for a very rich MMO experience
Things are coming to a head. Someone has vandalized the Queen’s Speech splash page:
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/august-20-2013/and look what has been sent to the fan sites:
http://www.guildwars2guru.com/news/1220-watch-out-for-scarlet-on-august-20th/
Don’t worry, here comes the second in command of the fort trinity pact who saved the world from a devastating dragon and… cof cof… i mean… here comes I, the local militia ready to fight some local bandits with paint cans…
Well, I enjoy the flamethrower and I think it has a GREAT skin… though I don’t like the elixir gun… IMO if they can dedicate time to implement so many new skins, why not dedicate a few mins to re-skin our kits? they don’t even need to touch the whole model, just the skin… make it more shiny/rusty depending on the weapon equipped at least.
I’m still waiting for the next elder dragon to wake up… We are already fighting their minions (Kalkatorric – Branded, Jornag – Corrupted, Primordius – Destroyers, etc)
Any of those would be a great adition (we don’t even need to fight them like Zhaitan but at least move on in history, who cares about queen jennah’s 10 years of bla bla)
That’s exactly what they said they’re doing. JPs, dungeons, champs, etc. to give verities of a gamestyle you prefer.
Do you have the source? I’d like to read that
Its all about connection…, with some software such as log me in or team viewer you can remote your computer from any mobile device. I remember training my crafting skills from work on my Samsung Galaxy S2. It’s not even a table but it runs my remote connection fine and I was able to move my char around a bit and craft things… but like I said,… refresh time for screen can be terrible if your connection is not fast enough.
The following classes have 1h Swords as Main Hand weapons: Guardian, Warrior, Thief, Ranger and Mesmer. They all have very different animations. Which one is being complained about, and for which gender of Norn?
Male Warrior,… since im taller than most of my targets; my character seems to overreact and instead of hiting a bit lower its actually looking at his foot and stabbing it constantly… it looks so bad that I never used swords for more than 5-10 minutes (already crafted 3 exotics and broke them for ectos minutes after… such a bad animation…)
oh boy, not another zerk or gfto thread…. keep it on the farming problem… let the zerkids have their fest on the other 983744 threads for it.
Back to topic, I was amazed by the fact that people let Jornag’s Claw event start and NOBODY joined it cause they were all too bussy riding the Champion killin train. Amazing… Those crystals stood up for like 10-15 minutes untouched. Nobody wanted to kill the dragon… Hardcore Farming IS becoming a serious problem caused not by a patch that modified some loot but by the very core design of the (not end) late game.
well if they are made using T6 then people will just wallet them like always, besides ANet won’t make something so radical that peope won’t be able to just wallet it because it is their business after all; and they’ve always done it.
But ascended gear will use T7 materials that you can’t just wallet out. They confirmed it. They’ll drop from champions and will be account bound or some sort of daily acquisition just like Charged Quartz Crystal where you can only create one a day and it is account bound.
There was a time when I would cheer for a change like this… seeing the current state of champions gives me the chills. IMO, the best place to put something like this is on Chests* all around… not a champ chest, not a majestic or grand chest, but any chest. Give it a low 5% chance only for lvl 80s or something and let people get them by doing the most random things not just Champ farming or any other farming. JPs would drop them, Champs would drop them, weird-places-in-the-world-where-you-go-behind-some-bushes-and-there’s-a-chest would drop them, Dungeons would drop them, etc…
Well… Yeah. They’re not gonna make is so you can use T1 or T2 mats. And T7 mats are guaranteed that you’ll have to legitimately work for them rather than pour gold out of your wallet. I’m sure they’ll add dungeons to the mix as well… Technically speaking even though precursors are in fact exotics, they’ll be a lot harder to craft than the ascended items.

Players don’t want to farm… Players wants rewards and progress.
Since there are none, they invent one (like Legendaries as one example) and farm for it.
ANet is so deep into pulling us to the gem market (who can blame them, it’s their business) that everything new must be VERY expensive and on extreme random chances… basically they are pushing players to it.
So yeah, this game was actually made for grinding, and it subsists on more and more grinding. Don’t like grinding? pay money for “money”.
it would be SO but SO stupid if precursor crafting uses T6 mats and Ectos… I mean how much redundant can this legendary thing get?
I really hope for the sake of their prestige as designers they don’t use T6 or Ectos for precursors… it would be a really low blow for their intelligence.
They specified it’ll use a whole new set of Tier 7 materials that are account bound like the crystals from last patch. They’ll also drop from champion bags and such. We’ll have to wait and see
Weren’t T7 mats going to be needed for ascended? Weren’t those made using T6 mats?
Are T6 mats and Ectos the building bricks of Tyria?
I doubt it will be a new GS…
We already have 3 of them
And a whole game who seems to be developed for them… I believe there are more GS in the players back that all other weapons combined.
Save everything for exotics until you tested yourself in full rares.
Wear rares for 2 weeks and then decide which stats fits you better before you get any exotic
do you guys understand that you can craft a skill from mesmer ?
its like you can craft a skill from necromancer, for example an item that can fear
or i dont know an item that spawn a turret or something
its a very powerful item in my point of view so i can understand the price to make it
you can also buy swords, axes, maces, etc from NPC heart vendors… Would you pay the same price for a usable bola like the warrior skill? also Ranger Pets can be bought for 1.04 silver at an NPC and you have a whole class mechanic for 5 minutes. This portal thing is way over its price.

Don’t listen to farmkids. I remember once in Harathi there were a bunch farming the centaur champ (this was a while ago, before this latest update) and people were failing the event on purpose just to get more zerg farm from the previous events on the chain. I, as a lvl 80 bulky warrior, aggroed the whole camp and finished the event… man, that was worth a youtube video… the nerdrage accumulated could’ve lighten NY for 3 days, just because they had to wait 15 minutes for the chain to restart…
Shadow Behemoth- Defend the monastery and the will send casters to the area above the shack in the middle. These will deflect shadow behemoths AoE drops that he reigns down from above (buff these to do considerable amount of damage to the front line fights as they hit). You need to defend the casters from waves of shadow enemies. Then to the west you have the seraph set up catapults to reign fire upon shadow behemoth. Defending these from centaurs. Then to the north at the garrison you can defend that against waves of shadow creatures and it will send Seraph Reinforcements to each area to help players fight (they would actually be useful).
I’ll be an ANet fanboy forever if they added this kind of complexity to the boss fights. I wonder if devs are considering these kinds of things when they say they want to revamp the world bosses? I really hope so!
This is what they should’ve been doing since day 1, but what else can they do with a community that carries a flag “Zerk or GTFO”?

I thought Trahearne was some dev ego made character.
at the moment it looks like someone’s son in the design team likes to play berseker… everything is designed for it (gauntlet as example…one shot skills + timer to kill fast = zerk job).
a core change is needed before other sets starts being useful.
Anything that goes into downed state is selfish, too. Unfortunately, it’s most often the players in Berserker gear who do go down the most…
aggro tends to concentrate on berserker players in pvt teams because they are the only ones dealing damage, this does not happen in full zerk teams though. also I’ll take someone downing every once in a while over you autoattacking at range with pvt gear
Right, because anyone not wearing berserker gear is automatically in PVT gear, doing auto-attack at range only.
I’m playing in Berserker gear as well, but I don’t see players wearing… PVT, or any other combination other than MF as inferior to me. Just because you wear Berserker gear doesn’t mean you’re anything special, great or being above players who choose not to.
Besides what’s said… Toughness builds draws much more aggro than bersekers… proximity + toughess + shield > damage for aggro… while you kiss the floor every now and then rolling whoever fills the said stats gets more aggro.
The game has zero team work… every patch is getting more and more like a single player arcade… gear doesn’t matter anymore since anything is designed in a way that full berzeker character with zero survivality can do it… so basically yes, support roles are indeed a huge lie as control roles are. Huge fail on Anet side.
This thread reeks of casuals.
Why do you think casuals reeks? It’s actually kids with no jobs what harms the game the most (harcore farmers, whiners, CoF speed runners, kids who think the game owes them something), not casuals.
I got one from loot yesterday… I destroyed it 5 minutes later cause I needed inventory space… sincerely I couldn’t find ANY use at all…
I can’t believe they thought people would pay that much for that crap.
I mean.,… EVERY MESMER can do that as much as they want every minute! it is ridiculous that they really thought about making this for that much…
Should we start being afraid for the lack of “intelligent” things added? I mean, are these the same heads that plan balance and encounters, etc…?
Some of it is that whatever is in fashion as best will attract people no matter if it actually IS optimal for all fights because, simply, people want to be associated with that halo of implied success.
Its so funny how everyone who wears zerk thinks that being elitist means they are elite and consider themself good players lol
Funny note, majority of them are part of the bad players who THINK they are good using zerk.
Consider youself good at zerk gear? go solo Lupi… can’t do it? then go get something else dude. If you exceed at dodging, you can solo him like some others did
Indeed… so many “zerkers” feeling special when they are actually zpezial (get the difference?). Funny how they flag themselves with some replies.
If you know you are good enough to play full zerk, then you know its not easy and you know its obviously not for everyone. If you think its easy and everyone should do it… then you are probably just halfway there and die very often… (you don’t need to lie us, you know how many times did you get downed in July? For a full trained character, anything bigger than 1-2 times its baaad news for you)
I feel would make me look like some promiscuous beer serving maiden.
And what is wrong with that!? You see that, I see a fine Norn lady who knows how to carry some beers

Gw2 endgame pve content:
1. Make a legendary weapon.
2. ….that’s it.If you don’t wvw, spvp, or rp, there is nothing to do once you hit 80. You could do fractals but it’s ithe same thing over and over, so boring.
Pretty much the same thing from GW1. End-game=get your Obby Armor, Chaos Gloves, and <insert random rare weapon set>.
How’d you do it? By running Fissure of Woe, Underworld, and Domain of Anguish. It’s nothing new. You hit cap relatively fast ( could hit it in 6-7 hours in 1 ), then start your title/gear grind. Guild Wars in a nutshell.
GW1 had teamwork, party compositions that encourage different roles… GW2 is a joke for MMO… players could’ve easily been NPCs in a single player and it would’ve been the same… Running repeated content in GW1 was fun because of that, doing it in GW2 its not. There are so few skills and everyone runs exactly the same gear (zerk) making repeated content a repeated experience (which doesn’t have to be this way)… this is what makes the game old fast.
What you can see its obvious…
They will flood the cities with more and more glowing equipment rendering the world into a never ending daylight. The only lucky people to survive will be those who get on the balloon first.
… and THAT is what will happen.
Taking this Zerker armor only argument to its logical conclusion. If people did do what these elite, highly skilled and knowledgeable people demand and only wore berserker armor then the next thing they would demand is for everyone to play only the one profession that they have determined does the most damage. For logically, anyone who uses a profession that doesn’t do max damage is clearly in the wrong and should delete and reroll. After all, isn’t this what they are saying? That dps is the ONLY consideration and if you aren’t doing max dps then you are not playing right.
This is exactly the same argument but taken to its logical end point. Only one profession with all berserker and the same traits because mathematically, it’s the best.
What are you trying to do!!!? make sense with them!? get out before someone burst a brain vein or something!
woa woa woa,… do you really want LA more glowy? You need sunglasses to walk around now… besides why would you want more colors? And Greatswords!? the most average joe weapon in GW2!!? It will be like walking in a club…
It would have been ten runs of cof p1 in a months time as I would have leveled my thief thru daily achievement.
So you can start thanking ANet for saving you (no sarcasm intended)
10 CoF runs in one day can you even imagine that? lol… I can’t even stand 1 every week and its being 6 months since I last stepped on CoF, any path lol
My advise, cut the hardcore farming and start having fun with the game or play something else where you can relax and have fun while playing it. Your gaming experience sounds like a job, not a recreation.
Kodan light armor is a great choise to mix. So great. I only wish they heavy armor was as nornish as that one. Go Honor of the waves for the rest…
Ps. I still like T2 for light norn more than T3.

I think the worst decisions they made with the gauntlet are:
A) Small arena. It needed to be 5x this area. Not enough room to move around.
B) The walls compress the camera into the back of your character and you can’t see. Kinda related to A. Should have been an “open” arena.
C) The queue. I would have put a lot more time into the gauntlet if I didn’t have to wait in queues to get in.
D) Kinda related to C is the time limit. These should have been individually instanced and we should have had a non-time-limited fight to the death. Whoever dies first wins, and time shouldn’t be a factor.
E) The stupid tickets. I don’t even know what to say about that. Really lame.
F) The fact that there are bugs that cause you to WASTE tickets.
Edit: That said…I love the idea of the gauntlet. I just don’t find it fun because of the previously stated stuff.
A) Agreed though I don’t find it that bad
B) Totally agreed. As a Norn this is terrible. Camera dazes me.
C) Can’t agree or disagree… I didn’t have much queue and I enjoyed viewing other players fight.
D) Time limit is stupid and force events to be only completed by certain builds… like I said before its unfair for certain classes/specs
E) Disagree. Tickets are a fine mechanic to force people not to stay there all day long. Play a few matches and go back to the real action out there… its a shame that real action is now translated to one spot in the whole world… bottom Pavilion farming champs and veterans.
F) Agreed. Wasting a ticket in vain is kinda lame.
This game made the impossible… I think this is the first MMO out there where a character built exclusively for damage dealing is considered “team contribution” and someone who builds for support is considered selfish… I truly am amazed of how did things turned out for this game.
It’s because Anet’s attempt at removing the holy trinity roles didn’t work.
Not only it didn’t work… it turned backward basic principles of team work in MMOs. There is 0 team work in GW2…. zero! and the irony behind this is so huge! This game aimed for extreme teamwork and failed so horribly.
