By that reasoning by having the stat on Celestial originally they defined it as being in line, what has changed to make Celestial out of line, or more powerful and deserving of a nerf?
There are only two possibilities either Celestial was overpowered and in need of a nerf to bring it in balance, or Celestial was in line and is now getting nerfed because of… reasons.
Your theory is all speculation and while it could be entirely true that the devs think that Celestial is out of line with the other sets and needed a nerf, I would rather hear it from them directly.
Fact: All gear was in line prior to the change.
Fact: All gear is having Magic Find % removed.
Fact: Non-Celestial Gear is being replaced with other gear in order to make it in line.
Fact: Celestial Gear is not being replaced but is instead losing Magic Find % to make it in line. Those are the facts. You cannot disagree with them being facts without being irrational. You can, however, argue that the facts are not fair.
You cannot be serious…you blatantly contradict yourself…
Anet make mistakes. Constantly; especially with their speed of content release. Was Gauntlet farming ‘in line’? Were the zillions of balance changes ‘in line’?
Why? I just love the twisted monsters over the trees or unreacheable places during the events. I also love when the map show a place to go and there are nothing to kill during the event.
/sarcasm off
So it will be fixed? Can I have my 390 ascalonian tears back, if it’s never get fixed? (most likely, since its 1 year and is not fixed yet)
They do have higher base damage. We saw this back in November when they accidentally buffed legendary weapons to their ascended tier stats. This was quickly patched, but the information was already out.
A greatsword went from 995-1100 to around 1045-1150, a 50 point (approx) increase to the base damage. That’s about 4-5% in just the base damage, the +stats were also increased by an amount comparable to other ascended gear.
If they implement in that way, the ascended weapons will be a must to have. Unlike the trinkets.
Depending on the way to get them, I’ll just leave the game if they implement in that way and be time gated.
I’ll I will not care if they only get a +10/5/5 status boost (or something like that). But again, we have no information of how it’ll be. I’m really concerned…
I hope that base increase is gone, too. But I expect it to still be there when these new weapons show up next week. And a blog post earlier this summer already stated that the new materials will be account bound and daily limited.
The only way around the timegate will be legendaries, so legendaries will now have a somewhat pay2win factor to them. This is, of course, very limited buy the extreme cost/effort of a legendary, but it is still there. Those that already have legendary weapons will have a definite advantage over those that do not until the timegating allows others to obtain ascended weapons.
Well tell me whats the point getting ascended weapon if their damage will be on par with exotic? +3 power bonuses? Anyone im asking ingame is actually happy thakittens coming out..Forums seems to think different. I don’t know..will 50 more atk change a lot? In pure zerker in actually getting 3962 attack with bloodlust stacks and 0 might.
That +50 more base is multiplicated with your power, so, if have around 1920 of power (full zerker with exotics / with no power from traits) and your enemy have 2500 of defense, it will be 764 – 844 from exotics to 802 – 883 to ascended, wich is huge (also consider that ascended can have more stats), even more if you even consider the critical + crit dmg. A full zerker will be even more discrepant from other builds.
(edited by Mikau.6920)
There are diminishing returns. Adding 10 power when you have 100 power is not the same as adding 10 power when you have 1,000 power. As you increase power, eventually you reach a point where the increase is only marginal. I believe that there was a thread many months ago with stating this but with toughness.
Theres no dminishing returns in GW2. Period.
Adding 10 is adding 10 power and incresing you damage for that 10 power for same amount whatever your start point is.
Even so, she is ignoring the fact that the weapon could have a higher base damage anyways, which is multiplied by power for your overall attack.
They do have higher base damage. We saw this back in November when they accidentally buffed legendary weapons to their ascended tier stats. This was quickly patched, but the information was already out.

My concern only increases about the ascended weapons and MF items. Maybe it will be a GG, well played and bye bye for me on september 3rd.
I really want to know how the things will be, if they increases the base atk of weapons, they’ll be a must to have. The only ascended that I have is the Golden Lotus and its MF infusion, and I dont want to get ascended to every char that I have (will take forever) and by now is ok to not have them (does not make too much difference). I just hate the time gated “solution” to keep players on the game.
And still, the only thing we have is a “everything will be ok”…
Why, instead of ascended waepons, you don’t give us alternative skills to our weapons? New utilities? New traits? Even new classes? If you want to insert new weapons in the game, why not just make new skins or new status distribution combos? Why not make every other build more viable instead of the same full zerker in PvE (wich will be even more powerful if they increase the base atk of the weapons)? Where the variety and horizontal progression went?
And why not remove the time gated of celestial gear, since it’ll be even more weak? It is not OP in any means, but it is good on some builds. Have to wait weeks or months just to build up is not fun in any way.
And yet, not even a single response from a dev (a real response).
(edited by Mikau.6920)
what about our runes/sigils/etc on our MF gear, will they stay?
im currently using Mad King Runes and i dont have the funds to get another set of them if we lose our runes
could we get clarification on this plz?
Non-MF runes/sigils/etc in your MF gear will stay the same, you are not losing them.
And what will happen to sigil of luck, rune of traveler, pirate, scavenging and the noble?
Hey all, no worries, we got you covered.
Weapons, armor and trinkets with magic find will become account bound, lose their current stats and will gain the ability to be double-clicked to select one of several stat options depending on the item.
For example, if you have an Explorer’s Pearl Staff, you can now double-click it to change it to any other crafting stat.
We will have a blog post about it with more extensive information as well, keep an eye on the website.
Slots, runes and sigils too?
So… what will happen to our MF items? They’ll just vanish? Refunded? Replaced?
You should always go full zerker in dungeons. You’ll finish the dungeon a lot more faster. Not only that, but all dungeons (I feel) encourages to play that way, according to the mechanics of the dungeons now (bosses have slow, but powerful blows). Just dodge.
The heavy heal/tank build can be useful to carry noob players that do not played some path. I already did a heal build in a dun, is awesome tank bosses and “heavy” heal allies (not really that helpful becouse of the way that healing power scales), but is awful to take 100x longer.
Until anet makes something will be zerker all day, every day.
But if you want, u can try my build (not very popular, but works for me):
(I’m using celestial weapons with this build)
Becouse I like support (although I am 95% of the time full zerker, but it’s anet fault) and caster types (I hated the ninja ele). Also I like the ‘holy’ feel.
I do not have too much preference to gender, but I get male becouse it’s fits better to heavy armor type to me.
I’ll build up my necro too (most likely I’ll go 95% of time full zerker, but again, it’s anet fault, although, I’ll do a condimancer too). Becouse I like the dark feel too. When I nauseate the holy feel I can go to the dark side
An old pic
Sorry guys, I always thought that either it triggered in the begining of the skill or when it ends, I didn’t realized that it trigger during all the skill, activating the first field found (oldest, if more than one).
http://argos-soft.net/GW2ArmorGallery/index.php?weight=3&race=2&color=10&sex=0&armorSet=gladi
Also, you can mix up:
argos-soft.net/GW2ArmorGallery/index.php?sex=0&race=2&color=10&weight=3
I use sigil of fire on my scepter and sigil of accuracy on my torch. I like it, the sigil of fire helps a lot with more AoE and do a good dmg.
(edited by Mikau.6920)
You’re a little off. Leaps will activate the first field they encounter at any point along the path traveled, prioritizing the oldest first any time there are multiple fields in the path traveled. Same deal with Mighty Blow. It’s confusing because the combo on Leap of Faith activates immediately on casting and the combo on Mighty Blow doesn’t activate until the hit, so it often looks like it’s behaving differently.
Ex 1: Light field is dropped, followed by Fire field – you GS leap to a target and both you and the target are within the field. You gain Retaliation.
Ex 2: Someone drops a fire field on your target that you aren’t in. You drop a light field under yourself. You GS leap to your target. You gain Retaliation.
Ex 3: You drop a Light field under yourself, and your target is not in the field. You use Mighty Blow and strike outside of the field. You gain Area Retaliation.
Edit: Oh, also that’s already partly covered on Q29.
I always got the combo, in the case of leap (GS # 3) at the end, according to the older field created. I don’t know if it only me, but is what I noticied. I cannot confirm #2 (I’ll test), but:
Ex 4: I’m not over any field and my target are within the fire field – I leap with #3 GS and I get fire aura (works for any field).
This always worked for me in that way, but I’ll test the your #2. To Might Blow (Hammer #2) I have no idea how works (I do not use hammer very often).
@edit
I tested the #4 hypothesis and indeed it works in that way. However your #2 is also correct, if u are over any field when you leap, doesn’t matter the target’s field, even if it was created first.
The hammer works in that same way. If you aren’t over any field, but you target is, you get that finisher, however, if you are over a field, you get this finisher, not the target’s field.
(edited by Mikau.6920)
New suggestions:
- When over 2 fields (say light and fire), will take effect the finisher from the created first.
- The finishers that move (GS #3 and Hammer #2?) will take effect where it lands, not where it begins (not tested on hammer).
- Retaliation can stack in duration upto a maximum of 5 times (does not worth get a lot of source of retal, but worth get the vengeful trait). – That’s why Devs need to replace the current “get realiation when” traits to something else.
(edited by Mikau.6920)
What I really want to see is new skills to current weapon set. In that way we could have a lot more personalization. Adding new weapons would be nice too.
To staves they could do a “4 elemental” effects to fit as ele and a “genesis” staff to fit as guard.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/new-champion-exotic-loot-pistols/first#post2588068
If it isn’t a greatsword, it doesn’t matter to ANET.
Q30 Does the Protection boon and Signet of Judgement reduce the amount of Condition Damage I receive and do they stack?
No, both Protection and Signet of Judgement only reduced Direct Damage, and do not affect damage received via Conditions. They do however stack with each other.
Do they stack additively or multiplicatively?
i.e.: (Not traited) Both equiped will reduce the damage by 43% without traited (additively) or 39,7% (multiplicatively)?
(4)Repetitive, easy-to-follow content. As stated in reason #2, Guild Wars 2 demands very little skill and thought, and mostly relies on fast reflexes (dodging, mob avoidance i.e. ‘running past’). Also as stated in reason #3, recent (and all foreseeable future) content is based around big zergs of people all smacking the same big zergs of mobs. Zero strategy, zero thought, zerg after zerg, hour after hour of farming and farming, and little to no responsibility, save for dodging at the right time.
I really want that they implement a new type of PvP that involves strategy and cooperation, but you are allowed to bring you equipament with you. Something between WvW and sPvP (with different objectives).
The zerging is nice sometimes, but strategy is always better.
A string description and supposed functionality doesn’t produce confidence necessary to feel the question is answered. It’s also not even certain the item will be released, whatever it does. The item also can’t address multiple transmutes (not that this will be as common as individual transmutes).
Yes it will. That’s in the description of the item – if the item has been transmuted multiple times, it will take the item that provides the skin and the item that provides the stats. In that case, you will always get the Legendary back, because if you weren’t totally braindead, you kept the skin.
DO NOT, I repeat: DO NOT listen to the people telling you this garbage. They have no idea what they’re talking about.
Items found while datamining aren’t necessarily going to make it into the game.
I do believe they will implement this. Although this might not happen.
TY guys.
d/d is better than d/warhorn for 2nd set as zerker?
Hi.
I just leveled my necro to 80 and I’m new to the class. I researched the class, but I’m not familiar with any builds. I always liked “caster type” and necro is what fits better for me, since eles are ninjas and mesmers are too strange (and coward playstyle). And I like the dark style (also green is my favorite color!)
So, I wanna try 3 builds:
- 1st heavy condition, average dmg with a good amount of defense: I was thinking of Scepter+Dagger / Dagger+Warhorn (or Staff as second set)
- 2nd hybrid, with both dmg and conditions: Scepter+Dagger / Dagger+Warhorn (or Axe+Focus as 2nd set)
- 3rd full dmg: dagger+warhorn / axe+focus: should it be full zerker? (can I rely on death shroud/dodges for defense?)
I’m thinking in use the 1st build for WvW, or a dmg style, such as axe is better?
I have 100 gold to invest in all, what build should I focus first? What weapons should I use for each build? What stats in weapons/armor/tinkets? What traits?
Also are other builds than these?
Thank you guys.
(edited by Mikau.6920)
From a post of data mine from reddit, I saw that they want implement some type of item that break the transmutation into 2, the “skin item” and the “stats item”. Previous items used in transmutations would be lost.
I don’t remember the link though.
They really must. With 1500 of healing power almost every skill scale up 23% of its base heal. The only exception is regeneration wich scales 144% with 1500 healing power. ALSO SEVERAL SKILLS (NOT ONLY GUARDIAN’S) DOESN’T SCALE WITH HEALING POWER AT ALL. To have 1500 of healing power is a huge investment with too low return. Other classes suffer a lot more than guardian.
They really must buff healing power. This is the most useless stat to have, compared with the other stats, healing power scales too awful.
- “I’m the Queen of the Blades”.
Sudden, the Swarm invades all Kryta.
Only +10 trait points is enough for me. This would open a lot of possibilities.
They cost around 1 gold in TP (with some exceptions).
Hi.
I choose as AP reward the Zenith Mace Skin wich I never used (I take it before the patch, then came the Shiverstone) and I was wandering how nice would be if we could change our choice adding an item in TP (gems) to “reset” one selected item (zenith, hellfire and radiant).
How does it would work? This item allows to change the skin to another one, and when this happen, all weapons/armors that use the skin that will be substituted on your account would come to original form.
This would be wonderful.
What you think about?
I bought the vigil armor set (around 7 gold) and put zerk stats with 5 transmutation stones (around 5 gold) – I didn’t buy the helm, then I realized that I would put the primeveral set as zerk, so I buy a new vigil set and used more 5 transmutation stones. So I spent around 15~20 gold in this “idiot moment”.
I did other “idiot moments”, but I don’t remember now.
@Kintari
I always have a difficult time aganist Mesmers and Thieves too, in both PvP and WvW, either they kill me or they easly escape. I’ll try your tips, TY.
Also I must level both my mesmer and thief to see how their skills are.
You can try my build:
This build isn’t full support/tank, but you’ll be able to do a decent dmg and a amazing support/tank.
If you wanna be more offensive (but a lot less supportive), u can use citadel runes. This build is amazing at WvW zergs and small groups (never tried roaming – but I don’t think that will work) and fractals.
For dungeons and PvE I recommend you go full zerker or anchor build (knight armor, zerker tinkets & weapons), except if the people are inexperienced at the dun or its a hard path, then you can go a support/tank build.
(edited by Mikau.6920)
I’m trying to make a balanced guardian, I just want to know if this stats are ok. Thanks
Needs more power, precision and crit damage.
Protection from hold the line and hammer auto attack chain (plus signet of judgement if you want) will basically serve as your toughness and vitality.
If he gets more power, precision and crit dmg he’ll be full zerker, he wants a balanced build.
@OP
Try Knight armor with Berserker Tinkets and Weapons. In my opinion this is the best “balanced” build, good survivalist with awesome DPS. In this way you’ll get almost the same crit chance (maybe more – I don’t know your traits), the same power, the same armor, but a lot more crit dmg.
(edited by Mikau.6920)
The question “Q15 Healing Breeze is useless right?” was fixed in the last patch (at least is described in the patch, not sure in practice). Only trigger once now (now you can say that skill is useless – they should reduce its CD to 30s).
@edit
Fixed the runes on armor.
You should try Warrior first. Easiest to kill and harder to die in PvE. I did Ele in my first class and I suffered a lot. Do a Warrior (or a guardian, but Warrior is more newbie friendly) first to get the mechanics and know the game before going another classes.
And like the guy above me said. There is no KS whatsoever. Every thing is about cooperation and you can level alone. This is what make GW2 so amazing.
Remember ArenaNet’s credo: if it’s not a greatsword, it doesn’t matter.
LMAO. Unfortunately this is the way. ANET just want nice greatswords.
Look at the shame Staff that they added (the same and exactly joke that is the precursor). This skin already exist, why put this trash again? Why not blue flaming staves?
I tested both Citadel and Pack.
Citadel works fine, but does not provide too much support. And the Pack I don’t like becouse doesn’t activate very often.
Hi guys.
I did this build and I want to share to you. I’m not really a big fan of Healing Power becouse of the scaling -1500 of HP increases an average of 23% the base heal, except for Regeneration, that is 144% (which encouraged me to try this build) – but with heavily Regeneration works somehow. This build works very well on WvW (zergs) and maybe small groups.
Highlights:
- Heavy Tank;
- Heavy Support;
- Average Damage.
Analysis:
WEAPON CONFIGURATION:
Since this build focus on heavy Regeneration, the best weapon for this is mace, with high boon duration (~50%) can set perma Regenaration without Writ of Persistence (with hold the line). Also the #1 and #3 apply some (not very much) support and have a good dmg (burst).
For off-hand you can use a shield, focus or torch:
- (1st option) Shield is the best weapon for support: You’ll give protection, have CC, 4 secs AoE range immunity and maybe a 1500 heal. Also you’ll get 61 of armor. The downside is the trait slot you’ll be used tothe mace instead, but you can use for the shield if you want.
- Focus can be used to remove conditions and another way to get Regeneration. The downside is the #5 that have a heavy CD and is not for support.
- Torch can be used to remove very often the conditions of allies and have the better DPS overall than the counterparts. The downside is #4 which is not for support and the #5 is channeled and cannot be use to remove cond. from yourself.
As second set you can use Hammer or Staff:
- (1st option) The staff is heavy support oriented and allows to atk at range, since your 1st set will be most melee.
- The Hammer can be good with CC and protection.
HEAL, UTILITY AND ELITE:
As Heal you can use any healing that fits your play style.
In utilities, “Stand Your Ground” provides a Stun breaker and stun immunity. “Hold the Line”, both Regen and Protec. And the 3rd you can use Wall of Reflection, which is awesome in WvW (you become nearly immortal with AH, and if you play “correct”), or you can use another skill that adjust to your play style.
For Elite you can use any utilite that adjust to your play style (Even Renewed Focus is support, becouse it allows you to use virtues more often).
TRAITS:
You can go 0/0/30/30/10 or 0/0/20/30/20:
- (1st option) The 0/0/30/30/10:
VALOR – is good for more DPS (30% crit dmg) and tank (both armor and AH). In the slots you can use: 1st – Purity (preferentially) or Strenght In Numbers; 2nd – Mace of Justice (preferentially) or Honorable Shield; and 3rd – Altruistic Healing.
HONOR – provide Healing power and vitality and the best traits. In the slots you can use: 1st – Writ of Exaltation (preferentially) or Superior Aria; 2nd – Empowering Might (preferentially), Writ of Persistence or Two-handed Mastery (if you use the staff as main set and/or hammer); 3rd – Pure of Voice (preferentially), Battle Presence or Writ of Merciful (if you use Writ of Persistence).
VIRTUES – Provides boon duration and little (only 10% in this case) recharge time to virtues. For the slot you can use: Master of Consecrations (preferentially) or Vengeful (if not using any consecration).
This build focus on all highlights (heavy support, tank and average DPS).
- In 0/0/20/30/20 you’ll use the same traits, but Absolute Resolution as the 2nd slot of Virtues. This build focus on another way to remove conditions and boon duration, but you lose AH.
EQUIPAMENT:
Since the focus is Heavy Support/Tank with average DPS this build maximizes every thing. Chaged quartz jewel in the thinkets slots does not reduce too much the healing power, but add power, precision, armor and mainly, crtical dmg.
For sigils you can replace the Superior Sigil of Accuracy in the Mace for Blood (deals dmg and heal) or Water (but have too long CD).
For runes you can use Boon duration ones (3-3 or 2-2-2) or Soldier for condition removal.
NOTES:
I’m not a big fan of Writ of Merciful becouse it heals too little. For self heal, even EM heals more, but can add a “little” more support, and with Writ of Persistence works better.
(edited by Mikau.6920)
Zerker isn’t OP. Other builds are useless. Simple like that.
I did a topic complaining about Healing Power, where you get 1500 of healing power in order to increase the base healing of the skills in an average of 23%. To get 1500 of healing power you must use all sets with healing as primary stats + full stacks of sigil of life (without counting runes). Healing power is the most worthless stat you can get.
My problem with Zerks builds (I have 1 full zerker build char) is that the game promotes zerk builds instead of diversity. Other builds are not as effective compared to zerk builds (or aren’t viable at all – like healing power builds).
Less diversity = less fun. (Including the settled weapon skill bar: it should be something like utility, where you can replace a skill for another)
Months?
kitten you’re playing the game wrong.
Not everyone can live to play the game…
I already completed the history =/
“250 Vial of Powerful Blood”.
No, thanks, I’ll keep the soldier back yet. Too expansive for me :P
Legendaries should be Account Bound… Several months to a single character…
I can’t see some red rings anymore!!! =X
This means death!!!
Thanks guys, then I guess I’ll get a soldier back then.
Hi.
I’m searching a back berserker stats (can be exotic, rare or masterwork) for my build, but I can’t find. Do they exist?
AND ANET ADD A FILTER TO BACK ITEM IN TRADING POST!!!!
Thanks.
