The real problem for me with this trait is the Might cap. The only viable boon to use with this trait is Might, but I often get 25 stacks and there are Might from allies as well which will make my own Might to not trigger.
We should get the LF/heal from Might even if we have 25 stacks.

I was calculing on how much costs to make a new viper set (exotic) and it is really expensive (around 250 gold) and I wonder if it is not better to make a ascended set and change to viper (around 700~800 gold). The sad part is the need to farm a lot of gold =(
Is it worth? Or should I wait a little more to see if the flax seed/linseed oil will go down?
Isn’t it always advantagous to run nightmare x4 + trapper x2 and switch out the excess duration with sinister gear? Stat wise the lost 100 condition duration from not running a full set, is lower then the gained condition duration from trapper since it is worth 150 expertise. The loss in power is also not a problem since our condition builds (outside dhuumfire reapers) have a terrible power scaling. Plus we gain a returnin condition damage from the investment in precision thanks to target the weak.
It still won’t solve the question if you need to invest beyond 80% condition duration or not though.

Also, how I unlock the production of the Herald Rune on another character? It’s unlocked only on my Rev.Once you unlocked the recipe, i think you can buy additional copies of the recipe sheet from the laurel vendor, to teach it to your alts.

I saw a lot of posts about this. They say it shows on panel but does not really increase.
I want make the new stats, but if is bugged I’ll have to wait a little more.
+1. I loved this post. I was wandering this for a while, if I should swap my Sinister builds for Viper. Now I only wander by how much extra condition duration (sigil and runes) I want to build.
In some classes mobility is a problem (guardian and a specific build to reaper that have 0 access to swiftness or mobility traits), so it is 10% of rune of traveler and mobility (+15% boon duration) VS 25% of trapper + nightmare and an extra 64 condition damage.

What the duration on protection (6th bonus) this rune does apply?
Depending, the Superior Rune of Durability will be 100x better.
Some NPCs at green keep on EBG have wrong descriptions, they are:
Arcane Eye agent – Should be “Repairs”.
Outfitter – Should be “Traps”.
I don’t know if there are other NPCs like this on any other keep.

Sigil of benevolence doesn’t stack with sigil of life.
I’ve pretty much mained guardian sense release and used sword 90% of the time.
Personally the only issue I have is sometimes I’m not really facing an enemy that is directly in front of me and I am targeted to but miss. Really the auto attack chain is fine, the blink and blind is great, and the 3rd skill is typically fine.
Revenant was changed due to the projectile being similar to guardian throwing a torch and having it miss often and having terrain always being an issue missing everything in front of you, on an auto attack that just could not work. Torch throw needs fixed though.
I’ve lost the count on how much I miss with the last chain of Sword auto due terrain…
If they don’t want to change, they should fix the pathing problems, like you mentioned torch #4, but all types of projectiles suffer problems.
Gyro had problems. Will it get fixed? Yes
Spirit Weapons have problems. Will it get fixed? Hopefully in 2020.
Sword auto on Rev had problems. Will it get fixed? Yes.
Sword auto on Guardian have problems. Will it get fixed? Hopefully in 2022.
It would be comical if it were not tragic…
Not only that, could (hopefully before 2050) take a look at Guardian Signets?
Waiting 3+ years to something get fixed (Shield) isn’t fun at all. (and still counting things that will take more than 3 years to get fixed like spirit weapons…)
Does F3 actually “blocks” (trigger traits on block), invulnerability, evades, absorbs projectiles or what? It got changed a few times, now I don’t know what it actually does.
Could add something like “gain 25% movement speed ONLY when out of combat.” in a trait. This would have no impact in combat, but wouldn’t be a pain anymore to move around. In this way we could have finally use another rune set.
Not only that, but almost half of Giardian’s utilities and a good amount of traits are useless. That is why we feel so little options to choose.
List of useless utilities:
- Hallowed Ground;
- Sanctuary;
- Merciful Intervention;
- Signet of Mercy;
- Sword of Justice;
- Shield of the Avenger;
- Hammer of Wisdom;
- Bow of Truth;
- Signet of Courage;
- Traps? (not sure)
And useless traits:
- Wrathful Spirit;
- Healer’s Retribution;
- Radiant Retaliation;
- Battle Presence;
- The on fall trait;
- And there are other very weak traits…
This kills any sort of versatility.
Just been PvP’ing with a few people who were using beta characters. I think the new class icons for the new specs add unnecessary confusion. Is it possible to get both normal class icons and the spec icons (if indeed we need the latter at all) next to each other, rather than replacing the normal one?
I agree. The new icons should be aside of the class icon, not replaced. This really confuses a lot, too much icons too keep track.
I’m having trouble aganist Scrappers, they feel too tanky + stealth to help even more. Also it feels too easly to desengage as Scrapper. And has access to good damage, feels worst than Elementalist to fight aganist (I’m not claiming that is OP).
Does anyone know how to counter it?
After testing the shield, I can now say that is FINALLY at level of Focus. Compared to it, it loses DPS, but the #4 of Shield is very close to #4 of Focus, and #5 has no damage, but has utility.
And yes, the Shield trait is useless. There is no reason at all to use it. Compared to Strength in Numbers it only add a reduced cooldown and doesn’t add armor with the other weapon setup. This trait is useless. Suggestion: Remove the +180 toughness when shield is equiped and add 4~5 seconds of regen when using Shield skills.

Please explain how taking no damage from aegis along with that 4 seconds of protection is a nerf… Aegis alone has amplified the effectiveness of this skill by 10 fold. A short cd aegis cone effect cast.. And you are complaining about a 1 second loss of protection… Wow. Please log off the forums and never return, I have been waiting for this sheild buff for a looooonnnng time.
Sorry, I thought they would remove Protection and replace with Aegis, not both (their streaming was confuse). But indeed I said “instead” in my post.
I still need to test the weapon to see if it is at least viable now.

This trait only activated once, even considering the cooldown (30 seconds).
Or the cooldown is higher than tooltip?
In WvW I use this build, if you want to try out some day – it is effective even in Zergs:

I know that cannot really compare, but you should consider to change Runes of the Pack for Flame Legion. In PvP the low mobility isn’t a heavy drawback as WvW, so there isn’t a need for travelers.
Also, the Scepter helps (the immobilize is amazing, really helps) and add a lot of burning. And with sword you would have a ranged option as well. From my tries GS really doesn’t add much for hybrid.

I am. I was looking for a good MMO to play and when I saw his video I got hyped and I bought the game. I didn’t tried other MMOs to compare, but I’m sure this is still one of the best if not the best one.
My only concern are in bug fixing – takes literally years to fix some bugs – and balance – which are too many weak or useless options available and takes too long to be buffed (or even never are). Less options = Less fun for me.
They could move this trait to Zeal in place of Wrathful Spirit. Makes more sense to be in a Symbol based line.
In the short time I played Support Guard, I find Protective Reviver better than Invigorated Bulwark.
Also, the Shield is really weak, maybe when they really buff this weapon, maybe I try again.
They should put it back in place of the useless Radiant Retaliation. Reduce the cooldown to 7 or 5 seconds. Then we would have more options in Radiance line (Healer’s Retribution is also very weak).
IMO Wrathful Spirit should be merged with Shattered Aegis or just completely removed. Now Wrathful Spirit is one of the weakest and useless trait in the game. Then add something that can be useful (Support/Utility/Defense/Tech).
Same for Healer’s Retribution.

Does core game users will have access to the elite specialization when HoT arrives?
I tried on a lot different builds it is still a very weak option compared to the other offhand (Focus and Torch). In theory it is supposed to be used as support/control weapon, but as support I find both Focus and even Torch better and the control part I find weak. For defense Focus is better as well.
Also the shield is the off hand that have the weakest trait available for the class.
Maybe some day they finally change or properly buff this weapon to be viable, now I advise to not use this weapon.
You can heal non-restoring minions with Transfusion and Life from Death or kill them and recast as they are on short cool downs, especially when traited.
They removed the CD reduction trait from minions and made it baseline.
The minuion build is so much fun now. THANK YOU ANET FOR FINALLY FIX THIS.
I cant wait to Spirit Weapons to be viable as well.

Sadly, Signet of Spite is still bugged
It only appplies 1 stack of vulnerability instead of 5.
They two bugs I wanted they to fix (this and Wrath of Justice – Guard) are still bugged. Sadly, I’ll have to wait a little more.
It does not trigger on “leap” skills like Leap of Faith (GS) and Mighty Blow (Hammer).
I guess I’ll have to wait a little more for this bug to get fixed.
In my opinion it could have 1 second of cooldown on F1, but allow to exit immediately out on weapon swap button, something similar to Engi kits. This would fix the accidental double press and still allow to use as a flash for the traits. This would be the best way to solve the problem and would only be good to everyone.
I really hope they implement something like this. It could be a F4 just to swap the Virtues from Guard and DH and doesn’t really need additional effects in my opinion. It could be applied to Necro as well, like F1 → DS and F2 → RS. I agree they should share cooldowns.
Right now Guardian and Necro are the only classes that could get a downside from the Elite specialization I believe, considering that all other classes get new options (without losing the base).
I guess you never used Sword. The last hit of the AA, often miss and its MELEE!!! Even if your target doesn’t dodge and is in front of you. Also, the torch #4 (throw) often gets obstructed and if it goes in the DIRECTLY in the targets direction (same problem with Focus #4 of Necro). These skills have pathing and terrain problems/bugs I believe.
I hope they fix it in the xpac.
I would like to see a cast time reduction on Life Blast (changing the damage properly to keep the same DPS). That would make traits like Dhuumfire more worthy to use out the Reaper Shroud.
My only problem is that I’m most of the time forced to use traveler runes and cannot try new things because I would be slow as hell. Not only the comabt system forces you to have decent move speed, but traveling long distances is very annoying without mobility.
Only a few classes have decent swiftness aplication or a mobility trait that you can use without hurt your build too much.
If you fix the currently bugs I’ll marry you.

Regarding general silence, it’s mostly due to how busy everything is at the moment, but also due to how a company as large as ArenaNet works. I’ll see if I can explain a few things to put the situation into context.
Right now I’m waiting to get feedback from the upcoming beta weekend on Chronomancer and Reaper, but I haven’t worked on either of them specifically for several weeks. Many of the changes you’ve seen from Gamescom were locked down weeks ago in order to assure the stability of the floor demo and the upcoming beta weekend. With a game as big as Guild Wars 2 it takes a long time (and a lot of QA effort) to make sure big events like Gamescom go smoothly. My work over the last few weeks hasn’t been for Necromancer or Mesmer and is actually been for the Warrior elite specialization (which I probably can’t say anything else about). I’m also fixing bugs on live for ALL professions this week and next which has kept me pretty busy.
Now this isn’t to say that I’m not paying attention to what’s being said or what’s been said in the past. I take notes on threads I think are relevant for when I have time to work on them. I have notes on things to improve with both axe and scepter as well as a note about skills that we could add projectile blocking to (incidentally RS 2 blocks projectiles because of a suggestion I read here). These are changes I’d like to get to and see happen, but right now iteration on Reaper and Chronomancer are probably going to take priority over that once the beta finishes.
I hope that clears up a few things. I’m not really as talkative as Roy or Karl, but I’ll see if I can show up now and then to answer the occasional polite question.
Yes! Please, fix the bugs. There are a lot of bugs on all professions and I feel like the game is throw to the wind and no effort is made to fix them. I do know that you are all busy with the expansion, but don’t forget the game exist now. A lot of things are not viable not only because balance, but also bugs.
