Beside charging quartz you can get some from mining quaztz node chance will be around 10% imo. One is in home instance and I also 2 or 3 in Dry Top including rich one. Just switch maps there and mine them over and over.

For others, thanks for help, I already have a palce of power in my home instance and a quartz node, with an Alt in the door to farm.

I took more than a month to build up my Elementalist to full celestial (5 for each piece, so 5*6[armor] + 5*4[trinkets, but the amulet which is ascended] + 5 per weapon [3 weapons, 1 staff+2 daggers] = THE ETERNITY [65 – more than 2 months of grinding, less if you have a good RNG on quartz nodes]) , now its my Engineer time :/, at least is only 2 weeks and a half for me from now.

Is there any way to get the Charged Quartz Crystal without the endless grinding from places of power? The celestial build is the only one tied to time =/ even the charged ambrite you can buy on TP, why not the Quartz?

So I guess, whenever they add a new crafting componet, will be a new sigil and rune to search. Those runes and sigils not listed in any sigil/rune list :/

Keep an eye on that_shaman, he datamines all this stuff and posts it on reddit/youtube, these runes were dug up around November I think

At least, before you could just drop the dome and move&forget (the dome would be still up), but now, even if this occurs (I not tested it) it will be worthless, becouse curretly is bugged and only length for 2 sec instead of 4 sec.

Nah, they “fixed” that because it was a “bug”. Now if you break the channel the dome disappears.

Yeah, basically Shield of Absorption translates into: “Root yourself for 4s and take a beating. You can detonate dome to heal a portion off the kitten whooping you took while looking stupid”

Now that’s advanced guardian superiority.

No Hammer or Sword love

The Hammer doesn’t really need love. It’s a bit bland, but it’s mostly competent. Same with the Sword. It’s not perfect, but it does a decent-enough job.

Hammer could use some reduced cast times, particularly with the symbol, and the ability to move while casting the ring. Sword needs to have the third hit in the autoattack chain reworked as well as improvements to make the 3 skill hit more reliably. Some sort of cripple or chill for it certainly wouldn’t hurt, either.

For me, the biggest problem with hammer is the #4. This skill only have a troll purpose or knock off cliffs people. But I agree, they should reduce the cast time of #1 to 1 sec and the #5 only works with JI.

I tried, in every single way to make both tomes worth to use, in a lot of builds, but they are just too weak. If they work like Elemental weapons of Ele (without droping a weapon on ground, only for guardian) they would be good, since you could heal and use your utilities.

Guardian does not have a heal on block trait, the only trait that heals on block is Pure of Heart and that only procs off blocks with Aegis. If you mean AH with MotD 200-300 Health gained total is not not much better, in fact shield popping will give you at least 3 to 4 times more healing. 3 blocks from Focus 5 is generally good for alot of things but against more than one person in Spvp it loses power, granted its not traited 3 blocks on a kitten CD easily disposed of with trash AA’s or multi hit skills from range. Shield will shine there with the projectile absorption(they need to fix the length cause atm its 2s instead of 4), with the possibility of mitigating more damage from projectiles than the 3 of block anything would(absorbing nade spam and blocking a ranger’s rapid fire targeting a ally.).

Ideally the best set to use shield with, is mace, due to the fact the skills compliment each other. Especially if you use Writ of the Merciful for symbol heals that would already provide regen from Mace 2. So Regen, and protection from shield 4 mixed with selfless daring rolls. You’ll also have a block with mace 3 on a pretty low CD, and a projectile absorption bubble.

Shield has its place among guardian bunker builds in Spvp and even some groups in WvW. It just doesn’t shine well with solo play and and DPS builds. Now as far as torch goes, it’ll be much better now, more chances to throw, and or bait out dodges. It won’t be anything too major though aside from more frequent nuking,

Honestly, I see focus being better for bunker builds as well. The blinds, regen, condi removal, and blocks go a lot further to mitigate damage than the paltry 5 seconds (or worse, 3 in sPvP) of shield 4 protection. The shield bubble is even worse because it requires a channel in order to stay up, which prevents you from doing other more useful things like attacking, healing, or dodging.

Right now the only thing shield has going for it is the knockback, and no amount of cooldown reduction without tweaking the skills themselves is going to change that.

They should remove the channel on #5 (and keep the CD reduction) and add a new effect on #4 instead of reducing the CD. The #4 is too boring.

Also, for God’s sake, increase the duration on protection on #4 to 5 secs on PvP, this the the most nonsense of all times. There is no reason, at all, to be 3 secs.

Shield is decent in WvW due to Boon Duration if you’re playing a support guard.
1) allows for perma Protection
2) Projectile block for grp/ally
3) Grp Heal
4) Knockback.

Damage should be increased however, as the damage is pathetically now.

If they’d make Shield 4 do some good damage (IE – SoW type damage), people would use it.

“2) Projectile block for grp/ally”: Currently is bugged and I hope they fix this on the patch (the duration is 2 sec instead of 4 sec)
“3) Grp Heal”: If it didn’t heal would be the same because the heal is ridiculous low and the healing scaling is pathetic.

I’m looking foward to the changes, I hope they will be enough to finally make shield at least usable, although not quite believe it, I’m eager to test.

In my opinion, they should add 1 sec daze on shield #4 and keep the 30 sec CD (would be at least good for interrupts). The shield is meant to support/utility, not DPS.

But the truth is, there are more changes that need the shield.

Add 1 sec daze on shield #4. With this change the cooldown wouldn’t need to be reduced to 25 sec and the shield would worth for sure (keep the CD reduction on #5 to 30 sec). And fix the bug on shield #5.

Or remove the root on sword #3.

I’m happy with almost all changes (the resurrection skills will still be garbage) and some will need to be tested to see (mainly Guardian Shield, I hope this to be at least a viable/usable weapon).

But and the traits? I think that only 1 trait (Thief) is going to be modified. All classes have a lot of useless traits. This must be looked at, urgently.

  • Reduce Plague Signet cooldown to 50s;
  • Reduce Spectral Walk to 50s;
  • Add 5 sec of stability on Signet of the Locust and reduce it’s CD to 50s.

The cast time is just way too long. Especially with all the cleansing in the game, many, most, or even all of the conditions you want to spread are cleared off before the Epidemic even goes off.

Pretty much this. Before the cast ends my target already cleaned all conditions. They should reduce the cast to ~1/2 and increase the CD to 20sec to compensate.

Hmmm For guardian id have to say

Shield, (its extremely situational).
If they would get rid of the difference between PvE & PvP for the number 4 that would help. (would also be great if it was an AOE centered on the guardian)

Also if they would change the number 5 slightly. Get rid of the detonation, make it a drop & forget skill & make it apply 1 AEGIS (10 seconds) to allies within the radius on creation then it would be a great weapon.

Staff is also lack luster.
If they would swap the orb and wave abilities around so the orb can be spammed (but not detonated) and put the wave on a 5 second CD (but with greater damage) then the staff would be great.

For necro it would be the axe, if it would simply cleave enemies near the primary target then it would be good.
Or if they could bump the damage up up about 20% then it would be good.

Yeah, I agree with the Shield and Axe, good suggestions. But I find the Staff from guardian “ok”. It is a support/utility weapon that really can do what it is supposed to, unlike the shield.

what they should add is some sort of training mode like in the pvp hub where you either have no cooldown on the skill so that you have time to sit and learn each abilities.

I felt the same when I tried using the tomes, I got all these new abilities in the middle of a fight and had no idea what they did, how they behaved and no time to read the tooltips. nex thing I knew the duration was over and I had to wait several minutes to try again.

Yes. They need to do this with all transformations. It would help a lot to practicing with the Moa Tranformation and how use it better and not just die and you get transformed.

Hi! I don’t know if someone has posted yet, but the Guardian Shield #5 is bugged. This was supposed to block for 4 seconds, but currently is only blocking for ~2 seconds.

I like to ask also for a buff in this weapons, that currently, in my opnion, is the weakest in the game. Constantly this weapon is discussed about how weak it is in the Guardian forums.

They need to do something. Even a 10 sec cooldown reduction on both would be enough. But the #5 in only viable for knockdown, the heal is insignificant and you must channel to block projectiles (that currently are bugged, sadly).

Because Anet is focusind on LS Singelplayer storyinstances, not on balance. There are alot weapon/traits/utility corpes in the game since release.
All classes suffer from it.

Pretty much this. Mesmer GS, Ele Staff and Ranger LB (now) are very powerful. Like the Guardian Scepter, its is awful, but is the only option to DPS as ranged (Staff is oriented to only utility/support).

They should give up a little on LS and focus a little more on balance, PvP and WvW. There are tons of useless traits, skills, entire weapons skill set (like Guardian Shield) and so on. The PvP is getting some love but the WvW will continue to be a mess. Sadly.

Becouse it was an Adept Trait, now is on Master line, less accessible. A way to use this trait is with the Phalanax Build (give might whenever you get). Otherwise, it is not worth to lose DPS. Also this build might be viable only on PUGs.

0 with 100% Map completion. The highgest one has ~80% map completion. There is no reason to get a map completion if you are not going to make a Legendary Weapon.

This might be my top 10:

1. Shield (Guardian) – The weakest weapon in the game in any mode, the #4 is useless (even more on sPvP) and the #5 is very weak;
2. Torch (Guardian) – the #5 is useless;
3. Axe (Necro) – I don’t see a viable way to use it on PvE or PvP/WvW;
4. Hammer (Guardian) – The only reason to use it is for #2, #3 and #5. Both #1 last chain (too slow) and #4 are very weak (in my opinion the #4 is only to troll people);
5. Rifle (Warrior) – Does LB have more damage than Rifle?;
6. Warhorn (Ranger) – both skills are weak (too much CD on #5 for its effect);
7. Pistol (Mesmer) – I don’t know if its is really weak, but I find Focus more useful with similar effects;
8. Scepter (Elementalist) – It is only viable on PvE;
9. Mace (Guardian) – The last hit from auto atk and the #2 have too much cast time.
10. Sword (Guardian) – The #3 is useless.

For engineer and thief I cant speak much becouse I don’t have them on max level. But I find Rifle from engineer rather weak for some reason.

Go with full zerker GS/Scepter+Pistol or Focus Mesmer. Ranged atks is better and mesmer can create distraction. The first time I went with my Guardian and I cried.

LOL. Now I always test if some gear can be salvaged before using it. I don’t mind spend extra gold now with gear becouse I know in future it can be even more gold loss. Thats why I’m not using event gear, I might only destroy them to free space on my bank. They should reconsider what can be salvaged and what cannot.

LOL, are you complaining that Guardian Cond Build is better than Necro? This is the worst joke ever. To make condition builds viable, you can’t consider a single dmg condition, but the mix of them. That’s why Necro is better than Guardian in terms of condition.

Don’d focus on Dumbfire: after the nerf this become too weak, not even on a hybrid build I can make this worth. Take Terror, this is really powerful to Cond/hybrid builds. But I’ll get another try to dumbfire on my hybrid build.

What is your build, post it so we can help you. I use this full cond build and I cannot complain about anything (aganist zergs):

You can swap the WH for dagger, and put a stun breaker if you have too much problems with stun. On 1v1 or small fights you can swap Well of Corruption for something else. Also, if you want more ddmg instead of duration, swap the giver to rabids.

From what I remember from lurking, there was a bug with female Sylvari guardians at launch with this, and as such they switched it off all races presumably until fixed which has never happened.

All classes have useless traits and this only hurts the game because restricts build diversity. Some classes like guardian, almost have an entire line useless (Zeal). Also, almost all on downed traits (Ele is exeption) is useless and on the falling damage ones doesn’t make too much sense (only adds gimmick plays).

Hi.

I just looked how silly is to have Recipes that affects only one character. Looking at sinister gossamer/inscription recipes, there is no reason to get one of each, the problem is that you’ll need to login with other char only to make them, becouse does not worth the farming only to unlock something that you already have. In this way would also be easy to track what recipes I still don’t have.

Sadly, every revive skill in the game is useless and I don’t see they trying to fix any time soon.

Yes, I forget it. And the most annoying part, is the power of this skill is not on revive, but on might/fury/swiftness. All revive skills should be something like it. I’m not sure, but I think that Ranger Spirit Elite is somewhat good for revival too.

The Guardian/Ele/Mesmer/Necro are total garbage. If they don’t want to fix them, then they should remove and replace to something useful.
