The most fun thing in the game is the WvW. But how can I play on something like this? (see the attachments – I’m at SBI).

This part of the game really needs a lot of rework. It is not fun at all to be stomped over and over. I don’t want to be in the always winning side, but at least I wanna try to do something. From now I will just save up gold to transfer to a server becouse there is no reason to go there, I’ll just be frusted. The WvW shouldn’t be that heavily imbalanced.

If someone can points me an active server at WvW, will glad to move.

You can craft trinkets as well. Sadly, very one takes 5 charged quartz T.T I’ll need a whole week of grinding to make 2 earrings.

What trinket do you get as reward on the achievement? (and which one, I’m not a big fan of the LS)

Guide to Achievements

That’s the guide. Based on the other living stories, the next 3 living stories will probably give out another accessory and two rings. The trinket is worth the extra hour you spend finishing those achievements.

Nah go d/w + d/d 6/6 with bleed duration etc. You can maintain a fair amount of bleeds with dagger auto + enfeebling blood + dark path. Epidemic to spread when dealing with trash. I wouldnt bother with the scepter on a hybrid. Would only use it for pure condi builds.

Just wondering what traits you take at the 6 in curses? Since it is pve I would assume you wouldn’t take terror or poc, so that leaves master of corruption, and banshee’s wail to increase damage. Also, I just don’t get the massive investment in condition damage, but then not putting more into your bleeds.

Can you equip 2 of them at once? (is not unique?) Becouse you can buy more from Priority historian.

For a true hybrid in fractals something like 6/2/0/0/6 with dagger warhorn and scepter dagger would work great. The dagger warhorn pairing would probably be better off being zerker. Everything else could potentially be sinister, but I don’t think they have trinkets that are sinister other than the one that is a reward for completing the achievements (I got it so it is awesome). In that case rampagers, celestial, zerker, or maybe carrion for trinkets.

Mace Symbol Cast Time Reduction?

Not only the symbol (in my opnion it should be reduce to 1s or even 3/4s), but also the last hit of auto atk that scales very badly with healing and have an insane cast time (it should be reduce to 3/4s – IT ONLY HITS A SINGLE TARGET, so don’t make sense to be so bad).

The long cast times is what keep me away from using it.

A build that isn’t really good but is fun to play in hot-join

Neither of these will be very effective, but honestly Sword and Shield just aren’t that useful for most builds. I understand that you want to use them. I love their aesthetic and I just got a really nice Shield skin.

That’s not to say that this build are horrible. They’ll just never be as effective as the more popular meta builds.

I’m interested on your defensive and offesive builds. If they chage the shield to something useful, I will try them.

Party support is Guardian’s theme and I think it should stay that way. But what buffs should they bring to the party? Stability and protection fit the theme. They’re “solid like a rock” so maybe providing swiftness should be left to other professions. There’s also too much caster-type power with AoE autoattacks (staff #1). Strong team player should be weaker individually.

Also Elementalist can have better group healing, higher stability, protection and swiftness uptime to the group. I’m not saying that Eles are better to support, but diferent classes do support, defense and atk in diferent ways.

The Guardian Staff #1 is really good only to tagging. Yes, you can hit up to 5 foes, but the damege is low.

Seems a bit of a double standard to create a thread for your thoughts on the matter, then to demand someone else has n rights to express theirs. Clearly you do not want a discussion on the matter. It appears all your wanting are those who agree with you.

- I’ve received nothing but personal attacks along the lines of “do you even play Guardians?” and dismissive texts that have nothing to do with the thread. Yours is quite fitting continuation for that.

Yes. You really should try play Guardian to feel what it really is. You’ll know they aren’t that powerful like you say and will be able to see their weakness.

Lol. What Guardians have:

  1. Lack of mobility;
  2. No real option to do a condition dmg build;
  3. Lack of CC;
  4. The Staff 4 is not that good, there are a lot better might stacking options;
  5. to get speed only from staff 3 you need to stand still few seconds;
  6. The hammer 5 is really hard to land, you need to use Judge’s Intervention to work;
  7. The shield is weakest weapons in the game;
  8. The torch is the second weakest weapon in the game (#5 is near useless);
  9. Is the worst class to be ranged;
  10. Is the class with the most useless traits;
  11. Is the class with the longer cooldowns on skills;
  12. Have very low viable builds compared to other classes.

If you want to compare Mesmer and Ranger to Guardian, lets see: Both ranger and mes have condtion options, both have stealth options (mainly mes), both have good options to fight (Ranger can have 1500~2000)…

I would say that warrior is good on everything, but I’m not sure if is still with the recent balance patch.

The sad thing is to be stomped over and over and you can do anything. I do like my server, but is not fun to play in that way. At least they should merge servers to fight side by side.

I do not want to be in the always winning server. But I do want to be in a server that can at least try to win. Also my guild is slowly dying

A Cooldown reduction would be a band-aid fix, but at least would be a fix. I really want to use shield as Guardian

Other suggestions are:
On #4 (one of):

  • Add 1 sec daze;
  • Add 5 sec cripple;
  • Reduce the CD to 20 sec (already mentioned);
  • Apply a secondary buff, like regen and/or aegis.

On #5 (one of – and fix the bug):

  • Remove the Channeling and put a cast time;
  • Allow to channel while moving (maybe allow the bubble to follow the Guard as well);
  • Increase the detonation healing and scaling;
  • Reduce the CD to 30 sec (already mentioned);

Guardian is the class that have most rooting skills on weapons. On Hammer #5, Staff #4, Sword #3, Shield #5. I am still waiting for the QoL changes that Warriors recieved on their Hammer #4 and now Engineers on their Shield.

3/4 might be too powerful, but I agree that should be 1 sec.

Also, the 3rd swing #1 on mace should be 3/4 and #2 should be 1 sec or even 3/4. And allow to cast the sequence on #3 of mace sooner. Then would be more fun to play with mace.

The Sword #3 is useless, it can only work to “block” ranged atks, even with it, not worth. The damage is too low and too easy to dodge. They should chage it to at least allow to channel while moving.

In a player driven economy, the demand of an item surpassing the supply generated by the playerbase will increase the value of it. While there are some items in these bags that are not based around cosmetics (the low drop rate of T6 mats), the price of these bags is directly relative to the cosmetic value that is being placed on them. While currently profitable, that profit is derrived directly from other players and their willingness to play a higher price. In essence, this is a transfer of wealth not wealth generation.

As far as this specific spawn of ambients is concerned, it’s definatly one of the faster ones to farm. As long as the playerbase is willing to pay for that item, and the demand remains higher than the supply, it will be profitable. This is not an exploit, it’s the playerbase saying “thank you for farming this, because we didn’t want to”.

Can’t say I’m surprised at that response. Most players did the dungeon like normal but a very small percentage got lucky and found out about this before they did it. Now they get to reap the rewards while everyone else is out of luck. In Anet’s eyes it must be deemed okay since its not everyone using it but just a few players. Ignore the fact they get to make massive bank on it while everyone else is basically out of luck.

Anet has already shown they don’t really like to give everyone a even playing field, be it this patch or past ones. Either remove the critters the first time you enter or give us a option to re-play it. If you deem this as a non exploit then we all should have the chance to do it.

I was experimenting the new Trait system on my alts and now is more boring than before to level up. I’d like to suggest, why not unlock traits on lvl 15 and get 1 trait point every 5 lvls? In that way would be so boring to lvl up. Is really fun to begin to discovery and test new traits.

The pve meta build is using it, the 5% more damage and the power you get from going into zeal are reason enough to take this trait if all you’re looking for is damage.

And well… No decent build would ever have a lot of healing power, greatsword and 4 points in zeal so why bother with buffing the heal?

Not everyone play only on PvE.

I don’t know why, but they never tried to fix the Guardian Shield. Its been since forever that everybody say the Shield is useless.

They should at least remove the root and channel on #5 (make similar to Swirling Winds #4 air focus ele) and improve the #4. The shield is lackluster.

I really want to use shield as guardian. This weapon is the one that better represent the class thematically, like LB is for Ranger.

Hi guys I have some ideas to make the Shield more interesting to use without making this OP. Considering that is a weapon with some sort of control and defense:

  • On #4 – Shield of Judgment – make it apply 5 seconds of cripple on enemies as well. Also increase the Protection duration to 5 seconds on spvp;
  • On #5 – Shield of Absorption – allow to cast while moving (the bubble will follow the Guardian), also make it apply 5 seconds of Aegis if not detoned and increase the Healing scaling on sequence. In that way you’ll have the option to get a block or heal (Fix the bug as well)

These changes will not make the shield OP in any mean, but will make it a viable weapon. What you guys think?

  • Stability – Is removed if affected by a control effect. Stability stacks can only be applied once. Stability can not stack further until Stability is removed. (basically Defiant for players)

Really? Do you want more stun fest? No thanks. My Necro is annoying enough with lack of stability/invisibility/invul/blocks, I don’t want this to my other characters as well.

Also, I don’t liked the idea overall, this will change the game play too much. What the game needs is fixes, not a full revamp. And they should begin with the traits there are useless for all classes. Then utility and weapons. This will open a lot of variety to builds and new viable options to use, making the game a lot more fun.

Riot also does regular patches that are sane, measured and balanced around the competitive level (and they even hold back on releases for event servers until competitions are over). It is an immense cry away from GW2’s penchant for plopping out some absurd “miracle patch” every half a year that completely reworks the entire game.

Don’t need to rework the entire game, but there still too many things there didn’t get fix since release.

They really need to buff/change the Guardian Shield. This weapon is the worst in the whole game. I don’t know why they didn’t changed it yet and why The #4 shield atk is still 3 sec on spvp, it already is very weak and only make it worse.

to late for me… I have seen 3 guilds guilds leave this game and I also left with my last guild.
I gave this game a lot of chances and the game fail me every time.

there is no coming back now. not to mention that were playing a different game atm and having actual fun for a change. the last couple of month have been frustration free so… why would I come back here?

@OP: It’s a good sign, for sure. Hopefully it means we start getting balance patches a bit more frequently instead of only with feature packs.

It can only be a good thing if anet is willing to talk about balance more and have more balance patches. 2 months between patches is much better than we had before.

Agreed – but – this is the best balance I’ve seen in an mmo. I hope they are introducing more skills or buffing unused skills rather than really impacting balance a lot.

I don’t think so. There are a lot useless traits and utilities that aren’t even touched and nobody uses. They not even try. And some are there since lauch.

What really need to be buffed:
- Axe: The buff was not enough – maybe increase the range or add a small splash on #1 and #2?;
- Some source to stability from Utilities (maybe 5 sec of stability in Well of power intead of 1) – I’m tired to be stun locked to death;
- Fix/change for several useless traits (like all classes need);
- Signet of Vampirism: Still not worth using;
- Well of Blood: Now is worst than before (and already was weak);
- More supportive options;
- Well of Drakness & Signet of Locust should have the CD lowered;
- Signet of Undeath: Useless like all other revive utilities;
- Some sort of way to deal with Power Ranger: Necro is the class that have the hardest way to deal with them – maybe a trait related to projectiles (make Corrosive Cloud or Spectral Wall destroy projectiles on equip)?;
- Reduce Spinal Shivers cast time to 1 sec (or even 3/4);
- Reduce Life sifon (dagger #2) cast time.

These are my main problems with the class.

What they really need to change is the axe. The buffs from last patch was not even close to be enough. Add a splash like fireball or/and range increase.
