Just use the escape key…
They must at least add some option to not close any window or open the game menu.
Sometimes I want to stop my auto atk, but I don’t want to see the game menu or close my windows with Esc.
This request is a subset of something asked for time and again, to have one customizable keybind for one action.
Right now Escape has several functions, afaik in this order:
- Close windows (switchable)
- Stop ability build-up + auto-attack
- Stop Auto-Run
- Drop target
- Open Game menu
That alone makes Escape pretty unreliable to use for a single one. Not good for a game meant to be competitive.
So, once more, ANet: One keybind for one action, pretty please. Finally do this and I’ll alt-tab right over and buy some gems. ^^

If they really nerf the VoJ passive to 1 stack of burning for 1 second, the cond guardian will be even less viable. But I will wait to see what direction they will make.
But I do agree, the Permeating Wrath should be around the enemy instead around the Guardian. This would make more reliable and viable to use Scepter with this trait. Maybe even with the new weapon (longbow).
I really hope they stop with the mentality of “In a good place”. There are a lot of QoL changes and even balance that must be done in the class (Sword, Shield and Torch #5 mainly).
If anything, Hammer is a dps/cc type of weapon, not support. Zeal IS the symbol line, this is a fact that cannot be disputed so it only makes sense that WoP be moved there.
But the symbol traits have been part of the Honor line since launch (unless i’m wrong about that), and they have allowed Cleric Guardians to exist due to the healing the symbols provide. If you take that away, then the only “tanky-support/healing” build we have will be lost. Lots of people run this build, there’s even someone who uses it to tank fractals with it
Guardians already have several DPS builds, but in terms of support builds, it kinda boils down to variations of the same kind of Support Build (shouts, healing, etc). Losing the healing part would render these builds useless, because if we can’t heal, it makes Cleric Gear and the entire healing playstyle (that has existed since launch) obsolete and useless. If I can’t be the same kind of Cleric Guardian that I am now, I can’t see myself sticking with this game when HoT comes out. I’m happy with what I have now because I get to play a support role (primarily through healing). If they take that away from Guardians, not many people are going to be happy about that. The Devs want to encourage players to use different builds, not just DPS. Gutting a crucial element of a Cleric Guardian’s build is not how you would go about encouraging the use of more diverse builds.
I really hope that healing will more viable, so I can dust off my Cleric and even my Zealot sets. The only class that is worth to use healing is Elementalist right now, at least for me.
Writ of Persistence really shouldn’t competing with Pure of Voice. This will make shouts less viable to support with symbols. But might be viable with consecrations. Let’s wait to see how they will change.

Wings of Dwayna, this is my warrior, she’s an exact clone of my guardian.
What pieces of armor are you using? I want to my Revenant to be female, but my Guardian and my Warrior are males, so I don’t know what heavy skins what good to females.
I would say that the game is always trying to step forward, in the right direction, even if some times takes too long to do so.
My biggest complains about the game are (most related to balance):
- Lacks variety in builds (which is most likely to be increased with the new specialization system);
- There is a lot of useless traits (but sadly according from what was show, some useless traits will remain in the new specialization system);
- The WvW have heavily imbalance due population – they should merge some servers or try to do something else to fix this problem;
- Some skills are useless (from weapons, heal, utilities and even elites) – and they do not even try or try very little to fix this problem;
- Most things takes too long to unlock when leveling (this reduces the fun of leveling).
But I have nothing to complain about:
- This is one of the best, if not the best MMO that I played. They really tried to bring the best experience possible as MMO;
- This is a cooperative MMO instead of a a competitive one (there is no loot or exp steal and most events are incentives to do with other players);
- Like I said, the game is always getting better, even if some times takes too long to do so;
- There is no P2W;
- The graphics and art are amazing (IMO);
- The lore is unique.
I really complain about things that is not correct, but not because I don’t like the game, but mainly because I want to be even better. They only need to want and the game will be the best MMO available.
Thety could also add 1 sec burning per hit, considering that burning will be nerfed with the specialization system. This would be a small buff. Now the torch 5 is only a retaliation bomb.
I think that all heavy condition builds already will be nerfed with the new boon (resistence). If they nerf burning so much, there will be only power based builds in the game . This will kill the build diversity.
MAKE SHIELD A GOOD/VIABLE & PURE SUPPORT WEAPON!
I really hope that we don’t need to wait more 3 years for this.
What if they change from current “Gain 180 additional toughness while wielding a shield. Shield ability recharge is reduced by 20%.” to “Shield skills apply 5 seconds of Aegis on allies. Shield ability recharge is reduced by 20%.”, would this make shield finally viable?
Aside from this proposal, do you guys think they will change the shield skills to make it finally viable? Or will be gathering dust forever? This is the most iconic weapon, but ironically, is our weakest weapon, maybe in the whole game.
TD;DR: Make the shield viable already!
Healing Breeze – Shout
Shelter – Consecration
Tome of Courage – Consecration
Tome of Wrath – Consecration
Is really hard to assign the Tomes. I don’t think they fit as Spirit Weapon becouse they don’t create NPCs. And Tome of Wrath already have burning on #1.
They should merge all realiation givers traits into one – Wrathful Spirit (our sources of Aegis have long cooldown); Healer’s Retribution (all our healing skills have long CD); Retaliatory Subconscious (this is the dumbest trait in the game, I don’t even need to argue abot it). They are too weak becouse the heavy cooldown for the low duration (3 secs).
Also, currently we can achieve full time retaliation with GS + Virtue line (theres no need for +retal duration) + Save yourselves.
In this way shoulbe be open space for new and useful traits as well. No one will take any of them, mainly the kittened Retaliatory Subconscious and I don’t know why they will keep it in the game. At least change to “reflect 20% of all damage you take for 5 seconds when disabled. 30 sec cooldown”.
Anyone know how Virtue of Justice will be with the burning changes?
I hope not only torch 5, but shield (both skills) and sword 3 (at least makes it not root).
What you guys think about Binding Jeopardy? Even with Wrath of Justice (immobilizes) trait is still weak. You could use scepter and hammer to boost up, but is only 3 stacks of vulnerability on 10 seconds.
They should put Blind Exposure instead.
Binding Jeopardy will most likely to be a dead trait as is now.
Binding Jeopardy will do the exact same thing as blind exposure do right now, but they buff it to work with immobilize too. The reason why it will be use less is because it’s now a master trait in competition with Zealous blind. All GS + X build will take Zealous blade before Binding Jeopardy, which mean that it’s limited to build without a GS.
I didn’t know. TY for info.

The falling traits are very underwhelming and a lot of trait lines will be too much limited because these traits. For example, the Honor line will be really weak on adept if you are not going support or using mace.
Most if not all classes have this problem with this trait. There should be added a new extra effect to those traits, maybe proc their skills on high cooldown (45~60 sec) on stun, or when affected on some condition or something else.
This trait will limit the choices becouse there will be only 3 per tier.
Also, the new location for Battle Presence. This trait will need some buff, there is no reason to take it over Indomitable Courage. This is already useless and will be even more weaker.
BP was given the 15% endurance regeneration. In all honesty a supporting guardian would want to choose this. I believe both are viable choices, it just depends on what you want build wise.
Do you have any suggestions as to what could make it better or as enticing as IC?
The heal is very little and it’s a GM trait, should have a big impact. Even working with the 15% endurance regeneration (which requires to go into Honor) is still weak. Also, as supportive guardian, Indomitable Courage is still better. Maybe add 5 sec of vigor when activating Virtue of Resolve, then it would be more viable.
Also, the new location for Battle Presence. This trait will need some buff, there is no reason to take it over Indomitable Courage. This is already useless and will be even more weaker.
In my opinion traits that need change are:
ZEAL:
- Wrathful Spirit – It is really weak even without cooldown, it competes with Fiery Wrath. Should increase the duration?
- Shattered Aegis – It is already weak and now is competing with Symbolic Avenger. They need to buff by a lot to make it viable.
RADIANCE:
- Healer’s Retribution – even more weak than Wrathful Spirit from Zeal (our healing skills have long cooldown and only provides 3 sec of retaliation).
- Radiant Retaliation – Need a lot more damage to be viable, mainly becouse is competing with Amplified Wrath.
VALOR:
- Stalwart Defender – Not only this trait needs change but the weapon needs a lot of rework. It is still the weakest weapon in the game.
HONOR:
- All adept trais are too specific. Not everybody that goes into honor will always be using a supportive build or using mace. Should be added a new effect to Protector’s Impact, if not so, everybody will use Protective Reviver if they’re not using a mace.
VIRTUES:
- Retaliatory Subconscious – This trait has to go. It has been the weakest trait in the game since forever. The only way to make it “viable” is to remove the cooldown. Even so, I hardly would take this trait.
- Virtuous Mallet – It feels weaker than the already weak Glacial Heart. And for some reason I feel that is on the wrong trait line.
- Permeating Wrath – It should burns around the target instead of the guardian. It might even require some aditional effect to make more viable, but we will need to wait to see how well the new burning will be effective.
My reason to “complain” about these traits is for allows more flexible options to build up, but some are just too weak and will never be taken. My main complaint for the current trait system (that we use now) is that are too many useless traits.
I really hope to have more options to build up without being too weak compared with the META.

@edit
I removed my complains after looked on the synergy that some traits gives. Also I posted on another topic my point of view on the new traits.
The problem is that some builds won’t exist more for the changes, but new viable builds (I hope that a lot of new ones come) may happen.

Sorry, the search function don’t work properly =S
Hi, after the recent patch the new Scroll of Knowledges aren’t stacking with the old ones, is it a bug? TY
With the new Hammer skill of revenant will be lame if they don’t change the Guard shield (both skills). That revenant hammer #4 is ridiculous, 6 sec duration on 12 secs CD.
We were asking for 4 sec on 40 sec CD w/o channeling to make the #5 follow. That was too much for them. Also their field is dark (dark >>>>> light). This makes any sense.
On topic, I don’t believe this need to change, not even with a trait. There are other problems that should be looked at (lack of condition; lack of soft CC; Scepter is a weak PvP DPS weapon, compared to other ranged weapons of other classes).
The consecrations that I have problem are Sanctuary (the CD is too high, even considering all effects) and Hallowed Ground (should be a stun breaker to be more viable).
I thought I was the only one that would swap to Dolyak Signet. There is no reason to ever use Balanced Stance again. It should be at least 8 stacks.
They changed a while ago to prioritize youself and your party, but for some reason it changed back.
Hi, there are some inconsistent on a rich mithril on Eternal Battle Grounds map, on Molevekian Delve, near the exit to Wildcreek Run and Rogue’s Quarry. It can be mined only 3 times instead of the usual rich ones.
I don’t know if are other rich places with this bug or is named as rich, but instead is a normal one.
You can swap some utilities/healing for arcane wave/arcane brillance for more blasts, but you lose sustain. You also can swap Rune of Altruism for Defender or other tanky rune (Melandru). The rune of monk is worst because you’ll only get 5% boon duration and the extra outgoing healing is worthless.
If you think the extra % outgoing healing is worthless (it isn’t at all imo, it’s the best way to scale healing), then why are you using Aquatic Benevolence and Rice Balls? >_>;
Compared with I already have, the extra 10% add very little extra healing, so little that you won’t even notice. The diference is 35% to 45%, that is so little. Also the might and fury AoE are more useful. I used a strong word to “less useful” :P
(edited by Mikau.6920)
I used for some time zealot with cleric, but I was only losing sustain and DPS to add nothing. On Guardian isn’t really viable, let’s wait HoT realease to see.
But on Elementalist, healing can be useful, the healing scales better on their skills. On full zealot, I heal 1k on auto atk on water with staff and also have a good dps on fire.
Does any one know what is the cap of gold find from dailies (that one from 28th day)?
This is the build I use on WvW (use Delicious Rice Ball instead on food):
You will have descent damage output and insane healing.
Tactics: Avoid direct combat at any cost, always be behind. If some one goes on you, flee. The Fire and Water are the main elements, air of earth only when CC or Magnetic Aura are needed.
I have a lot of fun with this build, this isn’t meta, but can be very effective if used correctly.
Why this keep happening? One server TWICE the rank of the other servers on the same matchup?
This isn’t fun to play on the winning side neither on losing side. This should never happen.
I really hope this is changed on HoT release.
Off hand pistol on thieves will be insane now.
This is really exciting. I can’t wait to see the new LB guardian skills, if this is true
I really want a LB or land spear.
(edited by Mikau.6920)
Not fully useless, you can use the #5 as AoE knockback on 30 sec CD on PvP, and only for that. Yeah, this is really bad. ANET won’t make shield viable, that’s the true, I basically give up, but I’ll do a last suggestion, and this is a good one:
On #4, increase the protection duration on sPvP to 5 sec, increase the cooldown back to 30 sec and add one of the following effects:
- 5 sec cripple (would help lack of soft cc that guardian have);
- 5 sec weakness (would reduce the damage even further, but usually can be easly cleaned);
- 1 sec daze (would add another interrupt to shield).
On #5, FIX THE BUG (set the duration to 4 secs), increase the cooldown back to 40 secs, reduce the cast time to 0.5 sec (you must finish the cast to dome keep itself), remove the sequence (detonate) and add a new effect: allies (up to 5) are heal for 300 per second (0.2 heal scaling, so at 1000 healing, you get +200 heal per second while in the dome).
The shield does not need blocks to be viable, the only reason the shield is so weak is because the skills are lackluster. The intend is to be a support weapon, but it do this very poorly.
Only doing this both shield skills would be viable and no, the shield wouldn’t be overpowered, if ANET really wants the shield to be viable, they should at least test these changes.

With respect, no information was actually shared other than something may in some way change with HoT. Ambiguous information is often more frustrating than none at all.
Pretty much this. The more information is what we already knew, so nothing.
So, will be a way to get this sigil through quest/drop or something else? I don’t belive they added this sigil back on the last Christmas events, because the prices kept rising.
From what has been released so far, it’s been said that Masteries will be PVE only. WVW has its own set of masteries.
Thanks for the info ^^
I was wondering that. Masteries will have impact/effect on skills that can be used in WvW (unlock new class skills/traits)? There is no info about this here:
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/reimagining-progression-the-mastery-system
Only says that will have some tracking similar to WvW skills. Also, can you get masteries on WvW?
I don’t know if they’ve mentioned any specifics on trait changes, and excuse my ignorance as I haven’t played since…not long after launch. I’m just wondering if after whatever changes they plan on implementing, that you’ll still have to wait 30 levels before you can even start getting traits? I’ve thought about returning to the game, but that really kills my enthusiasm that for so long during the leveling process you’re not building your character in that way.
I really hope too, even if I already set all my chars to 80s. This trait unlocking system is just too annoying. You get 6 trait points from 72 to 80 which is almost half of the total. They should distribuate the trait points linearly, getting the first at level 15 and 1 by every 5 level, also unlocking Master line on level 40 and grand master on lvl 60. In this way would be a lot more fun to level up.
I’ve been watching all this shield dislike, and I’d like to give some good points to this weirdly seen weapon of ours:
Shield of Judgment: Low damage, 5 second protection to five allies
I know it seems ridiculous giving some short protection to five people compared to the Hammer’s permanent protection, but look at other classes’ protection sources and see it is pretty rare, just like our stability, we have it so easily we don’t give it it’s credit. I know the damage is low, but don’t forget Protection is one of this game’s strongest buffs.
Shield of Absorption: AoE 360º 5 enemies knockback, with a 4 second(bugged, I know) projectile absorption
Although rare, we do have the longest blowout with Banish (750), but an AoE knockback is still pretty unique, while also defending from as many projectiles foes can fire at you, even from a gatling gun, and having the option to detonate the shield for a considerable AoE Heal.
Please understand that we may be too used to our easy protection and projectile deflection with Symbol of Protection, Wall of Reflection and Shield of the Avenger, but the Shield is not lame, but just maybe not on par with our other weapons/utilities.
But even when you just compare it to other offhands it shows how weak it really is.
Guardian shield has: 3/5 sec protection with minor damage; knockback and either heal or projectile block bubble that roots you, preventing other actions.
____________________Guardian focus: Bouncing blind, regen, and condi clear; 3 block blast finisher that deals massive damage if all 3 blocks are not used.
Warrior shield: Stun w/ leap finisher; 3 second duration block (this alone is better than both guardian shield skills combined).
Engineer shield: Mobile projectile reflection bubble that can be detonated for knockback; block that also stuns which can be thrown for a bouncing daze instead.
Necro focus: bouncing regen/vuln stacker; boon strip that chills and deals strong damage.
Ele focus: 8 different abilities, including a projectile reflect that cures 3 conditions, a 6 second wide radius projectile block, and an invulnerability.
____________________There’s a certain aspect of relativity to balance, and when you have all of these offhands that are clearly superior, it should be rather plain to see that guardian shield needs to be changed in order to be viable.
In this comparasion, consider only Swirling Winds (Elementalist focus #4 on air) with Shield of Absorption:
- You are not rooted from using this skill; (+)
- Does not Knockback; (-)
- Have higher duration (6 sec); (+)
- Does not take out your actions to keep the projectile absorbtion. (+)
- (I won’t put detonate on table because the healing is only symbolic)
This comparasion only shows that:
A – The shield #5 is only a AoE knockback with 30 sec CD (which is a lot worse than the engi #4, that can reflect and move);
B – This skill takes out Guardian Action to keep. But Wall of Reflection does it a lot better (does not requires root; have higher uptime; does not take out Guardian actions). I know that I can not compare an utility to a weapon skill, but this skill is just too weak;
C – Not only that, but we aren’t using Focus or even Torch that would do a lot of things that really have an impact on the combat.
Conclusion:
If the #5 were just like Swirling Winds, it would be infinitely better (we would lose a knockback and a symbolic healing that is the same as nothing) or have an AoE knockback with 15 sec Cooldown, but no projectile absorbtion or secondary effects (they add nothing to the fight). This only shows how bad this skill is.
And not only #5 is bad, but the #4 is as well, making the Shield on Guardian the worst weapon in the game. Still, there is no reason at all to take shield over torch or focus, in fact, you can use shield if you want a 30 sec CD AoE knockback and only this. The #4 have so little impact (even if you hit allies) that does not worth a mention.
(edited by Mikau.6920)
In my opinion, if they’re going to give us a bow (I prefer LB), it must be a DPS weapon, we already have the staff for support/utility.
Sadly the shield does not have a place in anywhere. And the nerf on sPvP continues, even without any sense what so ever, not that changing to be the same as PvE version would make it better.
They need change both #4 and #5 to shield be viable. Even increasing the duration to 10 sec of protection on #4 and removing the channeling or allow to cast and move (the bubble would follow – new mechanic) on #5 could be enough to at least make this weapon viable.
I wanna use shield on Guardian so badly, but it seems we have to wait at least a year again to see they touching the shield
Other suggestion to make shield work:
- Make the Honorable Shield trait apply 5 sec of Aegis on Shield skills;
- Make #5 drop&go (remove the channeling) and change the detonate to “heals 400/sec while on dome”, with a decent heal scaling;
- Add 1/4 sec daze on #4 (for interrupts).
That alone wouldn’t make shield OP and the shield could finally be useful.
With or without the Illusionary Elasticity trait (increase the bouncing skills by 1) is only hiting 4 targets (3 bounces).
I also noticied that their bounce cannot hit the same target more than once. This skill is worthless, considering its high cast time.
Yep, just tested to see if they at least fixed the bug, but nothing. :/
And Shield of Absorption still bug duration -__-
Yep, just tested, the dome is still with lower duration that should have. :/
If they don’t want the shield to be viable, they should at least fix the bug.
Someone already posted it on bug forum:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Shield-of-Absorption-Guardian/first#post4738402
What Guardian is lacking now is a viable ranged option and a viable condition build. I hope they bring something related to fix these problems.
Your build can heal a lot, but you could even swap Signet of Mercy (which is too weak) to Bow of Truth (with high heal power, which is your case, can heal up to 6k AoE). And swap the Master of Consacrations for +50% Spirits duration allowing to cast the command of the bow twice.
Or you could even swap Signet of Mercy to Stand Your Ground. This signet should even exist, in my opinion, its too weak and boring.
