Will We Ever Get a 'Last Logged in Function'?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Misty Red Rose.9320

Misty Red Rose.9320

In Guild Wars 1 and most other games you know if someone last logged in 1 day ago or 3 months ago; it’s right there in the guild panel. It’s not something that should be a big secret. However, I’d settle for a “last represented”.

Does it make sense to have a 500 cap in your guild and not know if someone stopped playing 5 months ago? In large guilds it is impossible to remember who may have been online in the last month or so.

I don’t think they are getting enough grief for this. I suppose it’s mainly because only guild leaders and officers in big guilds are burdened with it.

Will We Ever Get a 'Last Logged in Function'?

Misty Red Rose.9320

It’s been one year now and amazingly we still don’t have the ability to know the last time a member logged in. This seems like a basic function for an MMO and I have no idea why it hasn’t been implemented. It creates a lot of unnecessary misery and time wasted for guild leaders and officers.

For guilds that have come close to 500 members it means long and tedious methods to figure out who you have to kick to make room for active players. Most of the time I’m unable to even access the Guild Leaderboards, right now the only way to see the last time a member logged in by way of a achievement point.

I know this topic has been brought up again and again. I would rather pass on several months of Living Story content to just get the guild administration panel up to date, or at least bring it to the level of Guild Wars 1.

This has been bugged for a long time. Sometimes I can access the guild achievement but most of the time I can’t. Same as you, allows me to see my friends achievements but not the guild achievement.

It’s necessary to have access since this is the only way to find out the last time players logged in.

Our guild has been on IoJ since day one and glad we stayed even during the great exodus when the free transfers ended. I watched IoJ crawl from the ruins and be matched up week after week with servers who out-numbered us 5-1 if it was a good week. Most of our commanders never gave up and IoJ began to crawl upwards and showed us how to defeat mobs with greater numbers. Great job to those commanders and guild members!!!

We are also happy to see some really great guilds that hopped over here and are helping IoJ win matches week after week.

Misty Red Rose.9320

Next month the game will have been out a year now and we still don’t have a “last logged in", and no simple way of knowing of knowing who has been active. Our guild was reaching the 500 mark and it was a miserable, miserable experience to try and figure out who was inactive by use of the leaderboards. Why do I have to spend hours on this? I’m sure guild leaders and officers in large guilds everywhere are experiencing the same thing. We want active players. We want to give members a timeline of how long they can be inactive so if they are gone for months they know they will be kicked. But there is no reasonable way to monitor this.

Anet does respond to their player base. The problem is that the miserable functioning guild panel is only noticed by officers and guild leaders and therefore Anet is not really getting the grief they should be getting. If the average player experienced something this bad in their game-play in another area these boards and every other GW 2 forum would be lighting up and something would be done about it.

We can’t give members any time limits as to how long they can be away, as we have no way to monitor it. Adjust difficulty for Guild Bounty Training

in Guild Missions

Posted by: Misty Red Rose.9320

Misty Red Rose.9320

Have you tried going into LA and asking for a few people to help you? A guild-mate and I helped a small guild locate and capture a bounty. They were having really bad luck. They got Tessa first and failed, then went to ask for help in LA and then we got Teesa again and failed. Then got Komali while he still had the bug and failed yet again. They had one more bounty left to activate, and guess what? They got Teesa again! We succeeded because a couple of randoms came by and helped.

I don’t think only giving you certain bosses would work since it is a ‘training’. However, it would be very fair to give you more time to find the boss once activated. Then maybe you could ask for any randoms in the area to assist you once found. It would still be a training for you so you could see the mechanics of the bosses.

I’m a guild leader in a large guild, ad we began large with some 40+ players coming over from GW 1. We only ask that our officers represent us all the time, otherwise why be an officer? You won’t see the guild chats and it just looks bad if your own officers don’t represent your guild. (Or we ask representation at least 95% of the time; some players have a side guild where they try to make some influence for magic banners, etc., while they’re farming.) It’s not practical to force everyone to represent 100% of the time IMHO.

On the other hand, we have had several small guilds ask to join us where they do represent us most of the time. They just could not get their guilds off the ground, and I know other guild leaders who were able to create thriving guilds in gw 1, but who have failed to get a guild going in GW 2. Influence is critical if you want to build a bigger guild and when you have half of the player base not representing when they’re online they’re not contributing anything. Its as though they were not even online. So the problem compounds as a player logs in and only no one, or maybe one or two players are representing that guild. The solution for many players? Go find another guild and represent the guild you were in even less.

There begins to be a lack of cohesion within guilds when players can represent multiple guilds that I never saw in GW 1. This is especially hard on small guilds who are trying to build their player base. In fact I saw more cohesion between the guilds within our alliances in GW 1. Maybe we need alliances again?

So, imagine you are relatively new to GW and you come across this big boss fight. Yay! That’s what’s it’s all about, taking on these big fights and taking down a powerful boss, and helping out this guild in the process. But, oh no! Wait… Why are these players screaming at me and even cursing at me? What’s this about knock-backs, boon removals, hit only at a certain time? Someone just asked you to just leave the area entirely. And blah, blah, blah. Yeah, if the idea is for players to help one another and keep the game friendly, then Komali is a HUGE fail in that regard. How are average players suppose to know some of the intricacies of some of these bosses in the open world? Seriously. The time limits and specific professions you must have make some of them a guaranteed fail. Every time.

I helped a small guild who was trying to do a guild training and they got him twice and we failed both times. Ditto, our own guild got him in two back to back guild runs and failed both times. And yes, we knew what to do; it just wasn’t working. You can’t imagine the level of frustration in both guilds. Some of these bosses are taking all the fun out of the bounty hunts, and I can see the enthusiasm begin to wane….

We need another Queue Slot for Guild Missions

in Suggestions

Posted by: Misty Red Rose.9320

Misty Red Rose.9320

We need another queue slot because of the addition of all the new missions. Right now our guild has only the bounties unlocked, but once the other guild missions are unlocked I can see them taking up all of our queue slots. The asuran outsourcing works great for the the upgrades that take several days to a week, but it’s not useful for most upgrades.

Our guild is PvX like most guilds, and right now I don’t know how we will manage to queue up guild missions, WvW upgrades and the general PvE upgrades. I know we can speed things up, but it would be impossible to do on a regular basis since it’s so costly in influence. Two slots was fine before the addition of all the guild missions but 2 slots will no longer be enough for most guilds once everything is fully upgraded.

Please give us another upgrade slot!

Here’s a wild suggestion for the developers at anet. I’m not sure if it’s even doable, but it would help small and even medium guilds complete their missions. It might also help solve the issue of other guilds swooping in and killing a target before guild members who activated the event even have a chance to hit the boss.

When a guild activates a bounty, why not have it appear in the window the way other events do where you’re near them. They would only appear in the window of the guild who activated the bounty. Something like “Bounty Hunt! Prisoner 1411 was last seen swimming south in Bloodfin Lake” and “Poobado was last spotted near Wizard’s Fief” would pop up in every active member’s screen. Yes, members would still have to map and find them, but even a small guild of 6-7 players online could do it, and they would have a chance to get to the boss before some other guild swooped in and killed them, because there wouldn’t be any reason for a guild to sit and watch that particular boss.

Just a suggestion.

We have a medium sized guild and we did the 2 tier boss bounty twice and everyone loved it . Yet, it did require some coordination and we had at least 30 players each time. I’d hate to see so many GW 2 lovin players be locked out of many of these missions.

The only problem with this is guilds are not just randomly targeting these bosses—you can’t attack them unless you are on a mission to kill them. These other guilds have these bosses as targets as well. Therefore this doesn’t actually get rid of the problem of other guilds killing your target.

Other than that, I would say, based on what I’m hearing from others here who’ve tried the missions, either ditch the timer or go with this idea.

While it might be true two or more guild might get the same boss, it would still take some time for them to get there. They wouldn’t be sitting right next to a boss.

We have almost 300 members in our guild so we have no trouble putting together teams and it will help us recruit. I thought the guild missions would help small guilds too since it would give them more things to do together and that would help in recruitment and activity. But the way things are set up this could damage a lot of smaller even mid-size guilds.

I love what they have released so far but it needs some tweaking, or it will destroy many small guilds. (I’m not talking about clique guilds, but guilds that are trying to build their membership and are having a tough time already.)

I’m a little confused by the commendation system. We can only get 2 commendations from each guild mission type per week? That means each week a guild will only do 1 of each mission type? This is very difficult if we do not share schedules or we are not organized…

Also, how does the 1week timer work? Does it reset on monday or do I have to memorize when I slay a bounty?

I’M CONFUSED AND I WANT MY ASCENDED ACCESSORIES! Q-Q

Yes, you can get the commendations once a week, and from what I hear reset is Saturday 4pm game time.

What our guild does and will do is to have 1 or 2 big runs, and get all of our merits, then throughout the week run the 2 boss bounty hunt and give players the chance to hit one boss. You don’t even have to kill both bosses since you don’t need merits, but at least your members can get the weekly cap. Since it’s only 200 influence and they stack the bounty can be ready whenever you need it.

Also, Dulfy’s guide is almost a requirement to success. http://dulfy.net/2013/02/27/gw2-guild-bounty-guide/

Guild bounty missions have already gotten boring, now we know what todo we can finish tier 3 of these missions within 5-8 minutes. Can you add harder tiers for higher rewards? tier 3 is far to easy once you learn to track down all of the bosses.

I have a huge guild, 500 people, on a normal mission event over 70 players from just my guild will try to attend but a large group of those players dont get credit for taking part since so many of us are attacking the bosses at once they end up missing out.

Its impossible to run guild missions daily since they cost 2200 to rush each and their will be 5 of them so any fix for this?

Question, if you have such a large guild then the influence costs would be minimal in comparison to the influence you gain ever day? If players are that bored then run them every other day. Plus there will be lots more to do once everything gets unlocked.

So last night a few of us noticed under the ranks tab in guild that only guild leaders have permissions to active missions content (however it appears us officers can activate the built upgrade) this is a big problem as our 2 ‘guild leaders’ have both been deployed in the army and won’t have internet for at least a month. Does anybody know if, like the ranks tab says, only the guild leader/highest rank can activate missions? Or can us officers who have been left in charge do it? (Obviously we don’t want to accidentally using the upgrade before people are ready)

If it is only the highest rank this is a massive issue and I’m sure we wouldn’t be the only ones with this problem

The guild leader can adjust it There’s a new box to check for the missions so officers would be able to activate the missions. Some of these small guilds sound more like cliques rather then guilds and shouldn’t expect to harvest all the rewards some of us have been working at for months. That said, Anet needs to acknowledge the difficulties smaller guilds have. Our guild hit the ground running with 40+ players at launch and so we have lots of influence to burn through and everything is fully upgraded. We’ve been sitting on a lot of influence in the hopes guild halls will come at some point. (Hello, Anet. ) However in the last few months, I’ve seen good guild leaders, who had thriving guilds in GW 1, unable to get their guilds off the ground because of the way guilds are set up, i.e. players able to belong to multiple guilds, and difficultly in recruiting new players into their guilds.

Hopefully, there will be things small guilds will be able to do when the release comes out next week. It would be terrible if small guilds could not participate. In the meantime small guilds will really need to team up with one another when they are logged in. A lot of players don’t know that if you complete an event by yourself the guild gets 2 influence, but if you have 2 members teamed up the guild gets 20 influence. If a full guild party completes a dungeon the guild gets 100 influence. Sorry if lots of people know this but a lot of players don’t. Small guilds you will need to team up, team up, team up!

Added: Another thing players don’t know is if you log in daily with every character you made, you’ll potentially get 50 influence vs. 10 during the daily log check. I’ve heard you need to complete a event or heart quest for the character to get the 10 points and count, but I’m not certain.

We had it in GW 1 and many big games like WoW have it. I’m not sure why this emote isn’t in GW 2, because it can be so useful.

Our guild had a weekly lotto in GW 1 and it allowed us to raise lots of gold to build guild halls, etc. Right now it would be so useful to have so we could raise funds for things like WvWvW, and I’m sure smaller guilds would like to raise funds to buy influence. Other then asking/begging your members to just donate gold there’s no real way to raise cash for anything. /cry

I would’ve rather went with a reset and had the servers balance out quicker than deal with overpopulated sorrows furnace for another whole week at least in WvW. Yeah the next week might have been rough as well for us due to our low population but at least the servers might have balanced out a bit quicker.

Sincerely,
A frustrated Fergusson’s Crossing player

We feel for you ReGE.. I’m on the Isle of Janthir and we are now a low population server. It doesn’t matter how well your server plays, you will always lose, because you will always be ganked by the server who has 5-10 players for every one you have out on the field. I was hoping they would match up by populations and then let the chips fall where they may.

The fix is the same as it is in every other MMO known to man: Transfer to a populated server or wait for them to eventually force you to.

You might be right. However I did read something a month or so ago where Anet indicated they were trying to fix some of these issues, and I’m not sure the issues I brought up in the OP are the same as other MMOs.

You will be able to guest in one of the high population servers for any PvE area.

So this may be what the fix is? That would drain even more players out of certain areas. Not good if that’s the fix.

A dog barked, the herd got spooked, next thing you know there is a stampede out the doors of Isle of Janthir. This is what it’s been like in the Isle of Janthir server in the last week. :/

We are now one of the lower population servers. Many players have left because they heard many areas get locked up when you don’t have enough players in an area, and these areas, like cursed shores are not really scaled to the population. Already we see more areas that are contested, and there’s some concern that you won’t be able to do certain things in PvE because there’s not enough players on. Now this doesn’t seem really fair at all and is a serious flaw in the game if true.

Someone from Anet had said they were working on these things where events don’t happen because you don’t have enough players in a given area, like the areas where there are temples. Hopefully this will happen on Monday’s update?
