regardless of what happened , fact is the way pts are handed out is pretty bad for solo que players. As a result less people will que and wait time will be longer.
I think there is some serious bad math in figure out what’s your expect win or what your mmr is. That’s all there is to it.
I don’t care about the pts but I have to say it seems I’m getting – pts when my team are getting blown out like 500 – 169. I’m not sure how I am favored to win these matches …

I’ll answer to you, but it goes for the other post as well. You say it yourself: playing in a team gives you a strategic advantage: you rotate better, you focus players better, you can do crazy portal strategies… So you have to admit that the team gameplay, because of its complexity and the synergy you can achieve as a team, is a more effective way of playing the game.
I’ll assume you are like me: relatively good players, dragon rank for a while, but mostly playing in solo/duo queue and not taking the game too seriously. Do you have any pleasure in a game where the CP constantly switch color because your team rotate poorly, where people immediately rush far just to be wiped after getting mid, causing the lost of mid, where you loose a team fight because the mesmer on your team didn’t see the lich and didn’t moa it? I don’t: I like it when my team, even if they are solo players, works well together, rotates well, and care for others in team fights. I’m sure you agree.
Now, Adam, if he queues solo, even with better players than the one I enjoy playing with, he will have the same feeling as if you and I had the kind of game I mentioned: the rotations will feel wrong, he won’t be able to do the exciting cc chains he can pull out within his team, and the whole experience will probably be frustrating. In addition, Adam will likely have a better MMR than any solo player (because teams are better than PUGs), and is likely to be rekt by a full premade, while he is paired with a 4-man group. If he cares about winning, the best strategy for him is to play with his friends.
Finally, full premade gameplay is the most skill-based, most effective gameplay in pvp. So players in the best teams, with the best MMRs, are the best players in the game, and deserve to be on top of the LB, above some average solo players who can play all day with medium skill.
I am not in a premade so I can’t say that I have played pvp at the highest level. So what I say I take from my experience of DAoC , WoW and WarHmmer where I did play with a set of very good friends. I do agree that good team vs good team makes you play at a very high level however there is something to be said on try and carry a bad team. Imo it requires just as much good play in both cases just DIFFERENT play style.
This sort of brings me to another point that is solo Q and team Q should be separate like it used to be, because the skills required to succeeded in the 2 areasr are different .
ye mesmers are way too oped every team in wts runs at least 2 of them !! nerf !! now!!!

Tried it, sword off hand is great at making fights I would have won with other weapon sets go even faster but made fights that was close into losing fights for me. At the end of the day extra stealth from torch is just too much to give up.
In pvp I haven’t tried it, mostly I can’t see myself give up range for anything.
There are some really bad ragers for sure but for the most part I find other players I meet while solo que ranked not bad at all. in my experience if you que none stop you tend to end up playing with or against the same people over and over. If you happen to be bunched with a few of these jack kitten type of players the best thing to do is just take a 1/2 hr break and reque.
Most guard I strip boon then burst.
Super tank guards I fight them for a bit just to bait out his boons then moa .
A really good tanky guard just walk away.
I like where you are headed. I think if they made all clones share same buff as the mesmer at all times(just icon not even the effects of the buff) it would do wonders for us.
staff is not great in wvw other than zerg surfing imo

Stick with your gear, get PU and ditch shatter line. Leave everything else SAME. Tty that for a bit , you’ll be just fine. Mesmer is the best toon in a small gp esp when paired with thieves.
1.In your system the best player would by default not get to top spots because he would have the highest mmr and therefore almost no chance of getting more than 1 pt per win.
2.As per another post someone who had a few good games can just stop playing and stay #1
I get the pain, really the only way is to break for at least 1/2 hr and get out of the bad rotation and away from the batch of bad players you are getting paired with.
In the last 2 nights I had a 5 match lossing streak 2 nights ago and last night a 6 match winning streak.
shatter is not good for pve leveling. imo pve level require a complete backward build from end game. Stack toughness and power ignore precision and crit damage.
Seems people are pretty mad that’ high mmr’ players are getting no where on the leader board because they play less games. I’m not sure if that is true or not , but it seems there is a easy way to fix that. Award number of ladder pts based on your mmr, so a low mmr player would get 2 pts for an avg win , a high mmr player would get 6 pts for an avg win. In this system an avg player who plays a LOT will have to play 3x as much games as a very good player to get same amount of points.
Are you sure que time isn’t increased because you are grouped? I have 7+ min que time in a gp of 4+ and 2-4 min que time when solo. Now I have no idea what my mmr is so maybe I just suck. It doesn’t make sense that you get that much longer que time because you have high mmr to me, because it’s clear the match making will pool people of different mmr together as long as the total mmr is close between the 2 sides.
Power is better but since ascended gear is account bound you can always pass the armor to another char if you made a mistake.
top rank is still tied to number of games played not really indication of super skill. I am not even saying this because I’m bitter because I was ranked in the 60th range before reset. Since I play a lot so most likely I will end up somewhere there in the new system due to purely number of game played and rocking a solid 50% win rate …

For me I need los to beat a good power ranger assume we both start fresh with all the cds. Or else I moa them kittens.
I think you are reading what you want to read. I don’t know about Necros but if you read the posts by mesmers, we are not asking for specific buffs, all we are saying is that mesmers need some kind of buff because we are not wanted on any high end pvp teams. It happens that the ONLY build with a chance of competing at high end is shatter mesmer but if Anet buffed condi mesmers so that they are viable in top end pvp I’m sure no one will say no to that… Just my 2 c.

Pvp GS/Staff shatter. If you like pvp I would just skip pve and level via tombs in pvp.

They activate when the clone is killed not on shatter. You can dodge when you have max number of clones to trigger the effect.
at 1200 range he can gs auto attack proc air and fire, mind stab , blink , mirror blade , dodge and shatter. If everything hits and crit yep you’d be dead however if you dodged, blocked ,moved, blinded, pop lich form . Pretty much any one of those would have saved you .

I’m not saying it’s not allowed , I’m saying it’s dumb. If you get killed you die, there shouldn’t be another mini game of downed state that frankly adds nothing to the enjoyment of the game. All it does is screw over new players who doesn’t know how downed state works and make the game more complicated than it needs to be.
edit: I have introduced 4 friends to GW2 and had to explain downed state to everyone and everytime I go through what it is and how it works you can just see their eyes roll.
I don’t particular care what you were saying. I was simply mocking the fact you use the word “exploit” to describe strategy.
Have you consider the fact that your friends are not very bright and maybe get new friends. Since we are throwing around anecdotal evidence, 99.99% of the people I knew who played the game did not have any issues understanding downstate, so clearly it must be your friends. If we assume that anecdotal evidence is a substitute for hard evidence.
Perhaps you should learn to read before calling others not very bright.

2. Nowhere did I say my friends didn’t understand downed state, they rolled their eyes because it’s a dumb idea which is exactly what I thought when I started playing gw2 esp in pvp.
You may think downed state is all great and skillful but I use the word exploit because I feel cheap rather than skillful when I AE a deer to drag it into a 1 v 2 so that I can use it to rally when I get downed. How about when a ranger who run to a ledge to die where you can’t reach him but his pet can rez him . Both perfectly legal but should not be imo.

Me and my friend both had mesmers and we parked on the roof of a gate house in wvw and just jumped down on 15+ man zergs with the falling trait, it was freaking hilarious best 1/2 hr wvw ever .

My understanding of match making is that it try to balance the TOTAL mmr of your team vs the other. So even if you are the highest mmr player in the world at times when the pool of players is small you will still be paired with bunch of very low mmr players.

lol ye it’s pretty funny when kitten like that happen. I often would leave a guy downed just to burst everyone who is trying to rez. Got 3 yesterday in a 2 v 3 win on a node, sadly we still lost the match .
the real problem mesmer face is really thief (which every team has one), other then that, mesmser is pretty amazing…
Most team run 1 dps, thief or mesmer. But thief hard counter mesmer, so the team with mesmer will lose to the one with thief if everything else being equal. Here lies the problem, there is no reason to have a mesmer on your team at all.

I think we are getting some kind of ae slow, that + the stability change would make us very wanted in pvp. Imaging the current cele meta where everyone just cluster on a pt and you cast AE slow in to a 3 v 3 maybe combined with a time warp that’s an auto win.
I’m a firm believer that the skill level of the top end players are directly proportional to the player pool in a game like GW2 where thousands of ppl play pvp. So I believe that the top warrior or engi players are just as skilled as the top mesmer player if not more so since there are most likely more ppl who main warrior or engi than mesmer. A buff to mesmer class should not disproportionally benefit us because ‘high skill level’ at high end.
To back up what I’m saying I can only offer my experience in mmo pvp for the last 20 years. Since I started playing LPMUD in the early 90s I have went through countless nerf and buff cycles and played most of the pvp mmos ever made. I have never ever encountered an instance where 1 class magically have ended up with better skill players than other class.
From a pvp perspctive…….IMO you should ALWAYS take portal.
In tpvp premade pvp its vital and one of the only reasons you would bring a mesmer. Good co-ordinated portal play will help massively with out rotating enemy teams…(pushing far with thief and portal playing it) effectively meaning you can play 3 bases really fast.
In unranked/ hotjoin….i would still take it….learn it…you will be unkillable with it. It might not help your team as you are playing with randoms..but use it selfishly…resetting a 1v1….pulling out of an unfair fight (2v1/3v1 etc) and free roam capping/decapping by yourself. I use it and when it is on CD…i pretty much cannot die.
There really is not much option tbh. If you want to be a valued mesmer…learn how to portal play
PS. its almost ALWAYS better to pull out of a fight via portal and reset/ loose the base…than die and wait for respawn…..a dead mesmer is no help to anyone
While I agree with pretty much everything you said about portal’s strength what you don’t take into account is this. What if you could have WON a fight out right if you had another utility rather than portal? Then you do not need to reset the fight or lose a point.

Ele will cap the point and keep it while the fight last forever.I’m confused what you mean? I win 1vs3’s on my Thief who runs D/D and SB . . . . Thieves are really amazing. You just need to learn how to use your dodges, when to push and when to stay stealthed. etc.

What really grinds my gears is that after 400 matches I finally felt confident enough to solo queue on ranked, just to see some teammate AFKing from the get go, another guy DCing and later on complaining that he’s a virtue bunker with a staff while fighting a premade team, probably with a voice comms because even though i roamed a lot trying to salvage the situation, my targets always were getting support and I was forced to disengage.
And then fighting a premade of 5 turret engineers. The amount of kitten they were dropping on capture points was unbelievable.

But at least there was no Courtyard, Skyhammer or spirit watch…so at least that was nice!

lol I feel your pain. But it’s not always like that. When you solo Que there will be matches that’s just plain screwed up for one reason or another, but for me at least the good matches out number the bad ones by at least 2 : 1. You just gotta remind yourself it’s just a game and don’t get too mad at the bad ones.
Edit: MMR are not linked between ranked and unranked. So you are starting at a low mmr as you start ranked , things should get better as you play more…
I don’t play a thief I play mesmer but both class more or less fill the same role. You are not meant to kill players 1 v 1 you are there to finish 2 v 2 and 3 v 3. A good bunker will either kill you after 1000 yrs or die to you after 1000 yrs while holding the pt for their team. You are wasting time 1 v 1 cele bunkers when you should be adding on team fights or cap empty pts. Just my 2c.
Because if I’m not in a coordinated team, it won’t get used. Just me using it isn’t enough to be worth having a 90 second cooldown ability on my bar that will have to take the slot of another important utility.
