Played a game last night where we got farmed in our lane for most of the match. The other team got wiped 1 time and we all rushed the lord and won because we were mostly zerker build. This map favors dps build, promotes pve and ignore players.
I notice it often happens when players use movement skills as they die, like savage leap.
Exactly this. It is desync. It happens when someone dies while moving in a movement/invuln skill. As for the Necro that this happened with, I’d almost guarantee he was using Runes of Vampirism, got bursted on, then downed from condis while moving in Mist.
Claiming this is some kind of cheat/exploit where dying players are ‘forcing’ server lag is ridiculous.
forcing client lag not server lag, it’s pretty easy to do. This is caused by client side lag nothing to do with the server.

it’s a bug/cheat. You cause lag as you are downed so your ‘real’ location is not where your body is in game. No one can stomp you unless they can guess where your real body ended up at. I seem it lots , luckily most of the time the cheaters are very bad players so it doesn’t really matter.
It’s always funny who thieves rage about how unfair mesmer is in thief mesmer match up. It happens a lot when I beat bad s/d thieves.

no matter how bad you are which I suspect you are not a good match system should never ever have you lose 12 matches in a row. This is just a sign of anet’s failed match making system. The whole point of match making is to pair people into somewhat even fights. Heck even if they had no mmr you wouldn’t lose 12 in a row. To lose 12 in a row the system are actively matching you with people who has way better teams.

It’s easy to guess the player base by just looking at the leader board during last season. Count the number of matches played over the course of 8 weeks. The players who play every day or every other day are at most the top 500, the rest between 500-1000 play maybe 1 match every 3-4 days and everyone else play maybe 1 match a month.
If they bring back solo Q it will lay bare just how pathetic the ’competitive scene really is. Team Q will be a handful of teams playing each other over and over. The sooner Anet realize esports is dead with there current format the better it will be for pvp in gw2.
easy ban people . Have an option for reporting afkers and ban people who has been reported by lets say more than 20 different people. This isn’t rocket science mmos has been banning people for over 20 years it works great.

lol I log in for a chest and every other day I say hey lets play a match or 2 and sure enough I have a very bad time and think wtf was I thinking.
I think the problem is the bad design. ’’It’s okay to lose because you’re supposed to lose, but you get rewarded for not getting completely destroyed.‘’ No one enjoys losing streaks and it’s really not motivating. You might see your points going up, but is it really fun to gain from games you can’t enjoy?

pretty much it, I care about fun a lot more than pts. If you are going to put me in a match with 0 chance of winning I don’t care how many pts you award me at the end.
Even though I have higher rank in less games played per day this season compared to the last, I feel like the matches last season was better, more close matches less blown out ones. Maybe it’s just me, seems like this season feels a lot more grindy and less fun even with less games played per night.
match making has gotten better in the last week or so. I still get streaks of "kitten" matches where I have no way of winning or get put in 4 v 5s but it’s happening a lot less. Maybe because I play a lot less matches now days , it does seem to work better.
It’s funny to see my leaderbord position move up some days when I haven’t played a single match at all lol. I just think how kittened the people who lost pts after playing many matches must be.
play better so your mmr get better and you get teamed with better players.
Well I don’t think stealth is good for the game even though I use it a lot in WvW. The new PU change will lead to a lot of Mesmer nerf cries imo . With all stealth skill 2x the duration a mesmer can stay in stealth 100% of the time and just summon phantasms the whole time and troll people all day.
I’m not sure if the devs thought about that when they made the change.
@jenzie: there was a class like that in Dark Age of Camelot as well. It was restricted to mind controlling Humanoid creatures though. I think that would better fit.
Note: humanoid would include more than just “Humans”.

simple, Mesmer is the only class that plays like a ranged caster. I play ranged caster in every game
PU is not good for pvp because it kills too slow. You will rarely got a long 1 v 1 in pvp if your team knows how to rotate at all. And in a team fight there are soo much ae heal an condi cleanse PU build adds nothing , where a shatter build will burst people down.
So if you only do unranked or hot join PU will be fine but in Ranked it won’t work as your MMR get to a certain pt.

I hate turret engi as much as anyone but I think this maybe a bit over the top. All you need is to make Rocket and maybe riffle turret take crit and condi damage not all of them.
If you can’t beat them , join them.
A lot of times devs play builds that are either perceived as “too strong” and often those “not quite there yet” in order to better understand what makes them strong/weak so that they can make more intelligent adjustments.

I don’t care about leader board, the matches are just no fun any more when I solo Que. I still have about 50% win rate but it’s all one sided matches . Anyhow I went from playing 7-8 matches a day to 2-4 and find myself not even wanting to log in at all. It’s just not worth the effort to wait 5+ mins for a match only to find out you are in yet another 4 v 5.
I would not roam in small gp or solo wvw with 2x ranged shatter , just my 2c.
So it isn’t just me having a degenerative brain disease or my bad luck? Every game I get in, I play (from my point of view) very well, I kill almost everything I engage and I die once or not at all (I’m a thief). Despite defending close and maintaining mid all game, we somehow lose. People aren’t bad, they’re just matched with a whole other part of the pvp community. I get starters in my team, like r10 or 20 while their team gets a coordinated bunch of people that are often from competitive guilds and teams.
An hour prior to me typing this message, I had an ele that keeps rushing far and dying to a turret engi after each won mid fight. So, we have close intact, we go mid and win a teamfight. Then he waits around a bit, like he’s syncing with their spawn, and when he decides their about to spawn, he leaves close and rushes far. They realize this (every time, obviously) and let him suicide on turret engi whilst they get close. He did this every time we actually get back on our feet and stabilize mid and close.
I just had a game where I scored 270 didn’t die once and we lost by 200 pts . I think anet is trying to make me quit this game. I might just tank my mmr by ld 10 matches in a row and maybe get some better matches that way.
portal use is an art that I have not mastered , my advice is to ask the mesmers like Johnny the gray who runs that trait all the time. Very effective if you do it right imo.
That’s not a bad ratio if you played those matches back to back ish over a day or two. Match making is very streaky at least for me it is. It’s not unusual for me to have like 7 -8 match winning streak one night followed by a 7-8 game lossing streak the next night. I think they are tweaking the way they match you, every time they change something you can expect a long losing or winning streak imo. Also as someone already said mesmers are hard to play to start out with.
Thief hands down. No other class comes even close for wvw roaming.
The truth of the matter is if there are lots of people qqing about class X it really doesn’t matter if they are right or not. If a mmo wants to keep it’s player base the devs will need to do something or else lose players.
I have seen this is in far too many games sometimes the complaint is legit imo and sometimes it l2p issues and most of the time is a bit of both. What is constant is that the games where the devs did nothing ended up losing players . Some time you don’t even need to do anything , just a few post from the devs explain why things are the way they are have made the difference. This also goes for game design issues like why do we only have conquest….

I would rank enige as harder than ele tho between the two builds. Maybe its just because i know all my ele skill instinctively from Pve, but the few times i hop on my d/d ele in pvp it seems like i cant be killed…..
PU mesmer is condi mesmer who stealth a lot, You will almost never bump into one in pvp because with out perplex rune and condi food they are rather harmless. Sure it’ll take you a long time to kill them 1 v 1 but they do no damage and can’t move very fast. Kinda like a turret engi who has no rocket and rifle turret.
Burst is everything. You win fights by killing someone not by doing a lot of damage to make him use heals.
played 4 games tonight and got grouped with the same guy 3 matches in a row. And he akitten 3 matches in a row, the sad part is there isn’t even a report option for that.
So first off how do I get paired with the same person 3 games in a row at prime time where there are hundreds of ppl in the mist, and how is it the game let people afk and throw matches and no way to even report them?
You'll see the interrupt text but it does nothing.As far as I know, it’s impossible to daze, stun or fear a downed opponent. Skills that launch them (not sure if some knockback-skills work too) will move them away, but I think it doesn’t actually prevent them from using skills immediately afterwards either. You can also blind them to make them miss their skills. And of course, any direct damage (meaning damage not from conditions) stops the channeling of the number 4 skill.
well from my records of last 2 nights the prediction is about 50% which is same as coin toss.

April 2, 1-9 Gain 1 lost 6
So the prediction was wrong 6 of 10 matches last night and most likely wrong 3-4 out of 7 on the first. Avg success rate around 50%…

I dont know what has changed over the last few days.. I was on a nice average win run – 50-55%…
I have played 100 matches – and was seeming to do okay – reasonable que times (or slightly higher than average).
For the last two-three days – I have double que times (always double the average) – and now massive loosing streaks brinign my avg win ratio down by nearly 10% (down to 47% from 55%+). Wins – 16 : Losses – 26 .
04-02: 28% win ratio – 5 wins, 13 losses – 0 points gained/lost (on the day)
04-01: 46% win ratio – 11 wins, 13 losses – 7 points gained (on the day).I do not understand why all of a sudden I am getting horid RNG and loss after loss (I am not playing any differently – just as bad as ever).
What has changed?

Holy kitten after 2 days of easy matches Anet gave it to me good tonight. 5 matches in a row of no hope at all of winning. There is no in between matches at all…
There is NO answer. You are better off leave or call in help for 2 v 1. Ranged works but it takes way too long you are giving them free pts. You can try lure them out but a good player won’t fall for that. LOs works if they placed their rocket or riffle at a bad spot. But most of the time the best move is to just walk away. My 2c.

Aggression all the way, but I do have 6 in chaos for toughness so I don’t insta melt. Mesmer is a low hp class with many ways to avoid damage , imo we are meant to be played as aggressive as possible.
I know people from my guild que unranked as pre made to learn pvp. Often is a case where 2-3 new players wants to learn pvp and they gp with 1-2 pvpers and learn the ropes in unranked. Just my 2c.
I think match making have changed yesterday. I got matched with easy easy matches had a 7 game winning streak. Honestly I don’t think I’m play any better than when I had a 3-6 win lost record 2 nights agao. Seems I’m just getting paired vs bad players. Maybe my mmr dropped a lot or they just reduced the mmr of solo quers to make life easier for us… We’ll see what happens tonight .
How many points should you lose in a night? Should you always be neutral or positive after a bunch of games? This isn’t meant as a defense of the matching or the leaderboard or an attack of the op it’s just that to say things like that doesn’t make any kind of real argument. Yes, there will be nights where you lose -5 points even if the system was way better then it is currently that doesn’t mean anything.
I think the problem is if someone gets -5 points in one night that they lost 5 matches they were supposed to win with the win prediction algorithm. If the favoured team loses that frequently something seems off with the formula they use or something is off with the match making.
