I did a match a few days ago with my mesmer and I forgot to trait him properly so it was like 60002 build with no traits – and don’t ask me about my amulet or rune, no idea – but the match was funny and I still got 3 chests at the end. I even went a rank up!”

Thats funny, so you say becouse he play the way he wants he deserves the kick? As I just said in above post, fractal level 10-19 isn’t that hard so Zerker isn’t the only viable stats for this. As I havent got higher than 20-29 Fractals I can’t comment about if you only need Zerkers for higher fractals but I doubt that.

Then let me emphasize:

If you play since beta you should know how the average pug ticks. I am not defending the guys who kicked him, but you should know what you’re getting into when you join a pug.

Go make your own group, state that you are new, search for a guide or for 4 other newbs. Done. You’ll have fun, some of the dungeons are really awesome.

OR you join lfg’s where you don’t understand half the description, then die 5x at skips and then get yelled at and kicked.

From the trait ’’improvisation’’.

Improvisation only increases your damage when you actually have something in your hand. Just using steal won’t trigger the damage bonus of that trait.

At first I thought this was some hidden effect of the bloodstone buff the bosses in p4 have, but when there are other enemys that behave like that, then I have no idea.

I think the crusher in path 3 shows this behavior, too. Well, with HoT the defiance system will change anyway. For the better I hope…

When I try to interrupt a boss in arah 4 it sometimes says “immune” and fails to interrupt/strip defiance. Just ran around Kaisar for a good 5 minutes on my thief with pistol wihp and headshoot and I can’t figure out any reason why. I also tried a signet of paralyzation, since this one makes interrupts work on Lupi (as far as I know) with no success.

Anyone knows why that happens and how to prevent it?

There is no difference in damage between the meta 56003 GS/Axe+Mace rotation and a 66002 pure Axe+Mace build if you play with a group that stacks might for you. And if you play solo, go whatever fits your playstyle more. (But GS would be stronger thanks to might generation and mobility.)

For the knockdown problem – take stability with you. The problem is not that common since not many mobs use heavy CC and when you are in an aerea with heavy CC, stab is good regardless of the weapon you use.

This pet has a 6 second stealth that does not break while it attacks. It also increases its critical damage. Be sure to position yourself that cleaving mobs dont hit you and your pet.

Also it’s a big black cat, that’s always a plus.

This means the result is between:
7094 and 7216 for 68.3% of the time
7033 and 7277 for 95.4% of the time
6972 and 7338 for 99.7% of the time.

You result of 7215 is in the bounds of the first standart deviation.

You should probably go 66002 (or 66020 for Empowerd) to make use of the Dual Wield Agility GM trait, and then camp Axe/Mace as long as possible. You could even stack Bloodlust on your Wahrhorn.

My bad, I looked at how much more damage a zerk build does than yours (1/0.7=1.43).

Edit: And Thaddeus did that, too^^
Yeah sure if you factor in UA, his build looses hard, but look at what the op asked for, do you really think he’d play with UA?

But I agree to your build, hammer sounds like a better option here. Its also more passive, and thats what op asked for.

The above build should net you something around 15-20% less damage than a full zerker build but with the added benefit of 3k armor and about 6k more life. (if you factor in 5 might stacks and 20% more crit with fury active. If not it does about 30% less than a zerker)

You are loosing 10% from Scholar, 10% from Elusive Power, 10% from Radiant Power and ~5% from Power of the Virtuous alone (~40% damage), ignoring the loss of power and precision from your gear. Your numbers are not true.

Yeah, please remove everything doing damage in the game until we kill mobs with retaliation only. Or maybe confusion, it’s op as hell now, 33% more damage.

If you remove everything from the game that deals damage, you would remove retaliation and confusion, too. Or was that the joke? I’m sorry but I don’t really see the connection between your post and anything else written here.

Are the might stacks even worth the damage you loose in order to get them? I think the +% dmg modifier on the weapons and traits are better than might. If you have ~2500 base power, a 10% damage modifier is about as good as ~8 might stacks.
Just because you have 25 stacks might doesn’t mean you do the most dmg.

And if you want to stack might for the team, I think thief is the wrong class for you.

Reason I ask is that before, there was around 3k dps difference, between meta and phalanx, which was offset due to the increase in power for the rest of the team. Since now everyone is losing 125 power, is it a breakeven point?

Very simplified crappy math. But, if 750 power (the new max stacks) is 25-30% gain in power, that’s potentially like a 6th member by giving it to your 4 teammates right? 3k off of a max DPS warrior of about 12k iirc is only 25%. Giving up the equivalent of a 6th member so you can gain 25% of a member doesn’t seem like it would even out.

I think the normal stance would still hold, PS war is great when your group isn’t maintaining decent might stacks, with my very very kittenty math it would reason to say if you aren’t maintaining at least the majority of the stacks you’d be better off giving might to the group right?

Of course it’d be nice if someone with all the math available chimed in but yeah I can’t see it being a net loss if you’re in a situation where PS made sense before.

And if you take Empower Allies into consideration, you’re at 900 Power for your entire team. I didn’t do the math, but I’d say if anything, PS is now balanced :P

If this doesn’t give you a real advantage over other player I don’t think this will be a problem.
If all you want to do is play an grenade-engi in pve without breaking your fingers, I don’t think anyone would ever ban you for that.

On the other hand, Anet won’t make any definite statements like YES or NO. So all you do you do on your own risk. But as long as you use common sense, you should be fine.

Here is the thing. I wouldn’t mind seeing no-rule speedruns with everything allowed, like its the norm in other games. On the other hand, I can understand when people don’t want to watch these and if they ask for rules. But if you start adding rules, then be consequent kitten . I mean seriously, look at this topic. We allow to oneshoot Lupicus but we need a discussion if we allow the use of a signet that allows to interrupt him.

If you want rules, okay. But then do it right and ban everything that’s clearly unintended design.

I’ts the same with the first trash skip in path 3. “Yeah,” said the dev one day. “We’ll put a few mobs there and a door that closes and only opens if the mobs are dead OR if you dont select the path right away, go there with the open path window, stack infront of the door, use stealth and then select your path. That souds like good design, right?”
I don’t see a difference between this and jumping over terrain to skip bosses, sorry, I just don’t. And if we are okay with this, we should be okay with a lot more things. And as I said I dont think thats a bad idea, as long as we are consistent in our choices.

If he wants to use only 1 build for everything focus in something that works for wvw/spvp. For pve everything works just takes longer to kill.

The exact same thing can be said for PvP/WvW too. Literally anything can work in any game mode. This game is designed that way.

Not really. If you make a bad build in spvp, the chances are you are going to lose to the meta builds. If you go with a bad build in pve you still kill the boss and get the loot.

Only if “getting things done” is your only goal in PvE. But many people do dungeons for gold and then a bad pve-build looses the same way a bad pvp-build does, since you wont reach your goal (getting much shinies in little time). And some people do dungeon sc’s for fun.
You see, from a PvP point of view you are right. In PvP your goal is to win, since that is usually already hard enough. But in PvE “just finnishing that dungeon somehow” is not the goal, at least in most cases.

Every stat-combination is used in dungeons. Not neccesary by the people you play with, but I know enough people running condition damage, celestial, knights/zerk mix or whatever. Noone of them calls them best and noone joins “p3 gear check 17k AP” runs, but they are not useless. That’s quite an insult.

Lupicus Dome is caled “Necrid Trap” and he uses it on tragets that stand not near enough to him. If you don’t try to run away from him, why shold he try to trap you? And Bosses using different moves for melee and ranged targets is fine imho.

They introduced ferocity because they wanted to make crit dmg work like crit chance. It is kinda strange if you have to watch out to use rings for crit dmg and not pants or vice versa because one of them gives a better % to statpoints ratio.

And they nerfed Zerk because some people were crying. And it changed nothing.

By the way, what is your problem with blinds and blocks? Both aegis and blind only negate one single hit, and many mobs hit multiple times with a single attack. Good luck stacking against arah trash mobs without projectile protection. They own some mobs, but I dont see the problem with that.

But I agree with you about condition damage. That needs to change. Also some bigger bosses and new dungeons and new classes and whatever, yeah, sounds good. But you see, a new class doesnt gives you more content and more lore. Only a team of hard working people can do that. And I dont see that happen in the near future (or ever). So this discussion is kinda pointless I think…

You can only fix things that are broken. Just because you think that something is broken doesn’t make it broken. Just because you say “THIS is an exploit and THIS is not” doesn’t make it true. You say “AI should never act the way they do” and I ask you: “Who the heck do you think you are to make such absolute claims?”

If there are people who dont play gw because they cant play a healer, thats fine by me.

Oh and edit: I want to remind you that your entire statement is still based on the fact that you want the best results. As soon as your “new player” doesn’t need his legendary in 2 weeks he can do whatever the heck he want. And thats the great thing about this game. Not everything is optimal, but everything is possible. Go back to gw 1 and try uw hm with, idk, 8 minion masters or 8 prot monks and tell me how well that went.

You see, our toxic elitist dungeon community is actually very simple. Come here open minded and ask politely for help – and you get help. Come here and insult us because we can finish dungeons in 1/3 of the time you need or because we dared to call your guardian tank build ineffective – and you get the finger. Hi, I’m also mostly here to mention that oneshooting (why is it called that anyway? I’t not oneshooting…) is the lamest thing ever and should not be allowed in record runs.

For the sigil I don’t see a problem. If anything, timing interrupts and managing defiant stacks makes the fight more interresting.

So, let me get this straight: You want all those huge changes to the game and your only reason is because… the way you want to play the game is not the way you get the most shinies…

Egoistic. There are people who like the game as it is, what about them? And by the way, stacking in corners with meta groups is not even close the best way to make money.

Edit: I want to mention that this is only about the gameplay changes you suggest. A lot of the other stuff, like new classes or better game balance are very valid points I’d love to see.

If you think meta is boring, and if you know that you don’t need to run meta, then why do you run meta? If you think stacking is an exploit, then why join groups who stack? You need ~5 minutes more to find such groups. I know this for a fact because it’s exactly what I do when I am bored.

Condi Ranger PVE Build, Suggestions?

Precision is not that awesome as a Mainstat, even if you get bleeds from critical hits since you lack crit damage. The new LS gives the opportunity to craft Condition/Power/Precision which I think is superior in your case, maybe just armor or trinkets. Depends on what gear you already have and If you want to go ascended.

Anyway, if you play condi in pve you should go for 100% bleed duration. Coi Cake is a must have. A giver shortbow (+20% condi duration) is also nice and since gs doesn’t deals condi dmg I’d get berserker there. Superior sigil of earth is better than torment. Whats your average amount of bleed stacks on a target you can flank?

But your build looks a lot more like a hybrid build thatn a condi build to me.

I think the main problem is the breach, when you have to kill 5 bosses in a certain amount of time.
I don’t really care what you use to defend forts, but for the legendaries, staff has no place.
