I have to run temples to get dragonite. QQ
world bosses ;p
Sylvari female necro.
Necros are awesome! They do it all! Everyone is jelly!
I second this!
Necro’s are very fun and there is just something about a Sylvari female Necro.
Ranger is a good class too and I have always enjoyed mine (another Sylvari female :P)
I prefer my Necro to Ranger though because there is just something for me about being a very elegant/ tiny Mass murderer.
I play my Necro with wells (no minions) and I love the animation where she raises her hands and when she brings them down- death happens
I suck at Ele- So I’ll just shut up about them
I love having many characters- I have 5 level 80’s now and 2 more between lvl 30 and 45.
unless you are into Ascended gear I can’t see any drawbacks tbh.
I play all my characters and I love the freedom it gives me.
My server has always been pretty chatty.
Sometimes it is so chatty that it is hard to get information from map because it scrolls so fast lol ( no not LA- never go there myself)
It is very true that servers have their own identities and not all are alike.
take a guesting to tour to find one you like and good luck OP
HEhe Sundar- the other day I rescued someone form the Queensdale zerg and took them via LA to Wayfarer Foothills
this is honestly the first time I have seen people complain about strong female characters/ and or same sex relationships in a game.
Mostly it is the other way around :p
you complete me
well I have 5 characters at 80 but I lacked a Heavy class- because basically they are boring.
So I made a spell castor guardian- fun so far
hehe most of my fashionista friends are guys
my husband used to be really good but as I said Bf3/4 got his attention.
my husband used to do all jumping puzzles for me
if the game changes a bit he might join again but given the fact that he has such a big simply ltp gap I am not sure that he will ever return.
mind you if new skills and weapon skills get released, he just might
go necro- wvw – plague….
Am I the only woman in the game who don’t care how many women or “girls” play
and don’t care at all if people call me dude?I know and have met quite a few female players- who cares really?
Eh, I like chatting with other women. I like complaining about our husbands, kicking butt, comparing fashionable characters, kicking more butt, etc.
That’s it for me. Lol
my husband rage quits because he hasn’t played for a year and then he dies in five minutes whenever he logs on to help me., with stuff I cannot solo
this is from a Battlefield3/4 player- he thinks combat in GW2 is too hectic
Most of the people I compare fashionable characters with are guys

I would look at a wvw Mesmer
with carrion full gear you are practically immortal and conditions in wvw is nasty
in PVE you will kill like a granny :P
the stats on the tier1 and the tier2 are very cool when you are leveling- tier 3 is just for skins if you happen to like it.
I buy tier 1,2 for all my characters as they level- if they are not to my liking I transmute them
As an aside many of my lvl 80’s wear a mix of tier 1&2 armour

Bacon, sushi, cheeseburgers…
Stop it! Just stop it!
This thread is making me hungry! But we haven’t even got to the vanilla custards and red velvet cakes yet.
omg red velvet cupcakes

I like your Sylvari a lot- I like the yellows/oranges and purply/ pink with the red- makes it look a lot more vibrant than greens with red imo.
the only thing I would change if it was me- would be the eyes – I would make them more yellowish/amber.
And the leaves on the branch hairstyle- I would go for a more orangey/yellow colour on those.
oh and I would hide the mask since it hides the awesome face you have chosen
How do you get this to happen? I have the same face and I’ve never seen it
It happens if you adjust the iris size – not always- but enough for me never to mess with Sylvari irises
if you are looking for a sword to match that
;D
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Whisperblade
it comes in a great sword version too
I would not support it- I get many more whispers from new players asking for help/ advice than I get gold seller whispers. If the latter I just report and block
Lexandro- sometimes new players want quite detailed advice- map chat is not always appropriate for that
I just generally think any restrictions based on AP is a bad idea
you cannot just hit F when the badge pops- sometimes you actually have to go over to the champ and then hit F
just saying
and no it is not DR.
the only time I have not got loot at a champ is if I get a bronze and I am on a low level character- in other word I raced in as he went down :p
jump bug and aeroplane- ahhhh good times
both totally need to be a thing!
Just curious- why do people seem to think that something will happen to Kasmeer?
She scratched herself in the Tower and began acting a little . . . off.
meh- not a great fan of Asura’s in general but I would like it if Canach came back- I have always rather liked him
They have said there are “plans” for Canach. And I’d like him back too.
ahh thanks I missed that particular update- was off doing other things- now of course I am sorry and I like Kasmeer as the kind of perfect dumb blonde caricature, which she is not- I take it as a mask she wears :p

your idea while interesting sounds more like a RTS game tbh or something like Mount and Blade- which is a really cool game.
Thing is it makes no sense in terms of the story for there to be how ever many lords
each with his own army.
Certainly they would not be fighting each other.
the only real “armies” in the game would be those of the Pact.
I got one of those form a champ in Queensdale- was selling for 2g or so- I gave it to my husband for Norn Guardian
Maybe like when going to soutsun beach, just turn everyone into townsclothing that will disable all skills to be used.
Southsun Beach puts me in my undies- but I really like your town clothes idea
By the way moving forward (and we can discuss this in the CDI Process Evolution topic) I would like you guys to nominate someone to build the Proposal on behalf of us all.
Due to the Red Swash on the left it seems some are getting confused with Promise vs. Proposal and I just think it would be healthy to do it this way anyway.
Chris
Mm Chris I am not sure I like the idea of a member of the CDI building the proposal.
Not only is it a lot of work- I can already see the cries and tears and pressure that person will be under.
I might be really cynical but if people cannot see the difference between a proposal and a promise now, can you imagine the backlash for the poor person who builds the proposal? Regardless of what happens in the future.
that red swatch is helpful because it is a bit like a full stop at the end of a sentence. -it gives everyone a pause and refocuses the discussion.
I don’t understand what are your expectations people. Living story content is great, I don’t say it has a strong story, but it is fun! I, for example, loved scarlet invasions and it is sad that almost nobody does them by now. Everyone just farm their way to legendary and forget about all the fun
The reason almost nobody does them is because the majority of people did not find them fun.
the reason why no one does them any more is that they nerfed the champ farming and took away the loot bags for different phases and made it a succeed to be rewarded event.
The farmers don’t like it because they do not want to invents 45 min to get their loot-
I tried one of the invasions the other day because I did quite enjoy them at the time- but we were 4 people and so of course we failedHis point stands; if they were fun there would still be non-farmers participating.
I did find them fun for a change of pace at the time because they were frantic and fast paced and had a sense of immediacy that I enjoyed- did about one a day.
this was right after Queens Jubilee I spent fighting in the cages (which was 1 vs 1)- so it was nice to be out again
Then of course the farming started and it was not fun for me anymore so I stopped doing it-
I remember actually cheering when they nerfed it because I didn’t feel you should be rewarded for failing.
Obviously I am in the minority because now, as I said people don’t do them anymore.
they zerg Temples instead.
What world boss is at Bloodtide Coast? I can’t recall any…
Tahida Covington, the “Hydra Queen”. A title that makes absolutely no sense at all to me, since it’s a pirate boss, but you do get an achievement out of defeating her. On the “annoying” scale she’s somewhere between the Fire Shaman and Lyssa.
my guess is that the Hydra Queen is because of the transformations that she goes through- she pops up 3 times
@ Little- ahh thanks, that is a cool story
(edited by Morrigan.2809)
Ahh, thanks, Little. I’m not much of a guester, though. That just seems to compound the no one-around-on-maps problem. But, thanks for the tip! =)
No problem.
My husband really doesn’t want to transfer off his server to mine, and he hates guesting, but the other day he guested to quickly finish his daily and I think he fell in love.
It’s interesting how guesting itself likely causes more transfers than it prevents.
totally off topic but how did that happen? you not being on the same server?

I wanted to add some input into the proposal, mostly concerning your player housing idea. I would first advise looking at how other games handle player housing. The main games that player housing enthusiasts enjoy are Everquest 2 and Rift, so I would suggest examining how they implemented theirs. I would also like to emphasize that you should make true player housing, where you can place, resize and move items. Another essential thing is the ability to add permissions for certain players, allowing them the ability to move and add items in your house.
Secondly, I think that gaining items through the open world is an excellent idea but it is also a golden opportunity to add housing items to existing trade-skills, for example, armorsmiths could create decorative suits of armor, tailors could create cushions, beds, etc. These items could then be a way for these trade-skills to make a profit. In addition to this, consider allowing people to add crafting stations to their houses, which would add utility.
I would also suggest that housing items should be tied into other parts of the game. For example, adding achievements to kill certain world bosses could give a trophy, as well as completing slayer achievements. Zone completion should also unlock vendors with unique items from the zone.
Another area which would benefit from this is the living world and personal story – whether through drops, meta and achievement rewards or through a Zenith Weapon style locker. This would enrich the feeling of actually gaining meaningful items. When you implement the ‘grail quest’ idea, housing items could be rewards, ’cause it would be awesome to have trophies and mementos.
Finally, I think an important thing is to realise that some people like building from scratch, while others will just want to decorate. Add housing in cities first, then add housing in the open world. I would also like to suggest tying housing into the gem store in some way. Just don’t make all the cool stuff gems only.
this
the one thing that sort of scratches in the back of my mind about the proposal is that the home instance is getting confused with what most people mean when they say player housing.
It would be one thing to add a player house that we can customize to the home instance (not ideal but ok) and quite another to try and pass the home instance off as actual player housing because it is not.
so all your feedback was done in a new world boss and more temporary content!? yep Anet is really listen the community.
I bet we will get more backpacks aswell
you realize this content was probably written months ago right?
I also would like some more back packs- can’t find the right one for 2 of my characters and I am iffy on the shatterer wings on my main
op this is not the first time the running animation has changed- the one now is more like it was before it was changed the time before.
I prefer this one since it looks a lot more natural and the previous one had a very strange hop going on with the arms pinned to the sides- now at least it looks like my humans are actually going somewhere when they run- instead of just hopping in one spot
I really don’t think it is a big deal- I have come across many relationships in game, some hetero and some not.
bTW About Jenna and Logan- in the Vigil story I just did you can also speak to her after killing Kellach and there she says that she tried to keep Logan by her side once before and that it turned out badly for everybody.
I think their relationship is hardly in question.
As for Kasmeer and Marjory- they made me laugh out loud because their banter is so silly- I really enjoy their dialogue.
So what if they are a couple?
They are NPC’s I like and enjoy having around.
I don’t care who people have relationships with irl, why would I care in game?
What is this ore pack? I haven’t seen it.
copper node, silver node and gold node for your home instance- 800 gems.
it went up in the store today
along with some rng dye pack and a metabolizer item that makes your food boosts last 12 hours
^ I have 2 sets of unlimited tools and I love them^
they are a convenience nothing more and I use it as another avenue of character customization. I will definitely buy more sets as they come out
I saw this item and I thought it a nice addition considering the price of metals on the TP lately- so it seems to me like a way to increase supply and taking a bit of pressure of people.
pity for me is that I have been selling those metals on the TP.
The price is fine- it is a permanent account upgrade- and it won’t kill you if you don’t have it.
I have exactly one node- the krait obelisk- in my home instance and my game has not gone up in flames because other people have more nodes
(edited by Morrigan.2809)
I love my mini princess doll- I just wish it could make that screaming sound because I would love to see nearby players scatter when they hear that
I have no idea what my server pop is but it is certainly not a “top” server and yet I see people everywhere I go- go figure.
I certainly don’t want to be merged- imagine every map like Queens?
where will I go for a bit of peace and some small random encounters?
Hi All,
Here is the proposal I believe we are making, please discuss and let me know if anything should be added or removed. Note many of us have read the thread internally and thus there has already been valuable impact.
Our Horizontal Progression Proposal
The Reward and Associated Journey
— Sociopolitical Diversification: Player housing (Customizable from rewards gained in the open world), Guild Halls (Customizable from mass play rewards) and Map Wide Meta events unlocked through Faction progression (Leading to both individual and group rewards such as titles and skins)
— Role Diversification: ‘Grail Quest’ (Personal rights of passage) style adventures through the open world (testing the player in combat, discovery, and puzzle solving) which others can engage in once the activities are activated which could reward the Hero with New skills/traits, new weapons, access to inaccessible existing weapons, and infusions.
— Hero Recognition (Reward) is a by product of the above two types of Horizontal Progression leading to Unique Skins, Titles, Rewards, followers and NPC reactions/opportunities based on the players individual feats in the world of Tyria regardless of how he/she chooses to play the game.
Global Rule Proposal governing the above:
- Where possible use the above design paradigm to reinforce and evolve the existing world.
- Players should be able to have multiple methods of achieving ‘Grail Quests’, rather than a section of the journey being based on Jumping Puzzles and that alone for example.
-A reworked (cleaner) version of Signet of Capture would work very well for Role Diversification.
- Sub-classes will be discussed again in a CDI once Arena finishes its current balance work in regard to roles.
- QOL features such as a wardrobe should support this global design.Once we have discussed the proposal and the thread reaches conclusion we will sticky it and move onto CDI Process Evolution Phase 2.
Note this is the formulation of a collaborative proposal for discussion. Once the proposal is finalized it will be discussed internally. However there will be no promise of associated actions or schedule.
Thank you all so much for your hard work and your passion toward making GW2 awesome. This has been a really good CDI and I want to thank you on behalf of Arena for caring so much about the world we love.
Chris
Bump. The following reminder added:
Note this is the formulation of a collaborative proposal for discussion. Once the proposal is finalized it will be discussed internally. However there will be no promise of associated actions or schedule.
Chris
great proposal thank you.
Signed off
I’ve felt this for awhile, though I still don’t quite know how to phrase it. Wondering if others might have an opinion.
As convenient as I find the waypoints all over the place, I feel like it trivializes much of the exploration we would be having without them.
I’ve suggested zones without waypoints as a way around this. Does anybody else feel the same way? Or am I romanticizing the runs from towns to far-flung locations in GW1?
Edit: should have said this originally, but all the credit to Sir Arthur for expressing my feelings better than I’ve been able to. This post was meant as a huge +1 to his.
Hi TimmyF,
I agree:
‘As convenient as I find the waypoints all over the place, I feel like it trivializes much of the exploration we would be having without them.’
Chris
Mmm I love exploring but I also have limited time- so when I am in the mood, sure I ignore way points and explore- that happens more than you would think.
I do sometimes want to maximize my time and make use of the way points I have unlocked to hit events in far flung locations though.
What I Absulotely do not want to do, is to spend my 1 hour play time running to where I want to be- I want to get there and play.
thing is I have a choice now you see?
It’s not so much a choice because walking is not a viable option. It just takes way to long. Now with mounts it would indeed be more of an option. Just reducing the number of way-points and adding mounts would also be an option. Then there really are options.
First of all it is an option because if you think it takes too long -take a way point.
I don’t understand how you can complain about taking too long and then in the same breath in another post say, that we do not have time to check the scenery- or that there are no interesting places to explore.
I have been poking my head in holes, caves and falling down cliffs for over a year and I got to all those places on foot because I wanted to see what is there.
but let us take a look at mounts-
first- the terrain in GW2 is the best I have ever seen- it is also not very conducive to mounts since the terrain apart from being uneven, are often a mechanic in the game. Jumping puzzles are just the most obvious example
Second?- Have you ever considered that there are no mounts in the world?
No one uses them- and there is no mention of them anywhere that I have seen.
Take a look at the races for example- the Norn, Charr and Asura.
Both the Norn and the Charr would see it as an insult to ride a mount because it implies they are to weak to use their legs, the Asura would see it as an insult to their intelligence because they made gates after all.
I just cannot imagine a Sylvari riding anything tbh.
The only race who would make remotely sense is humans- but nowhere in thier lore is there such a thing.
So I get that you like mounts- but to imply the system is broken is not only untrue but taking something away to add some other questionable thing (mounts) is not a good idea.
I hope I’m getting the point across. Waypoints exist for a reason, but their utilization is by people with a variety of reasons for using their convenience factor. Removing them for the sake of exploration (which a lot of players might not even want to have forced on them) seems . . . to be adding some fresh new vibrant color to the Mona Lisa.
I see what you’re saying.
I do not want to REMOVE waypoints.
I want to add new content built without waypoints in mind.
I have no problem with that- I’d think of it as a wilderness and as my character as a pioneer.
I do have a problem with the fact that you said the dreaded words- instanced group content.
make it open-world and add objectives where people can make small bases etc and it would be amazing- at least to me.
my apologies if I missed something of the kind but as I said, limited time- there is no way that I can keep up with this discussion
What I Absulotely do not want to do, is to spend my 1 hour play time running to where I want to be- I want to get there and play.

I totally agree. The idea here is that the journey is the gameplay. You don’t travel to reach the endpoint, you travel. Period. That’s it. The exploration is the gameplay.
You spend your 1 hour exploring. And then you’re done.
I feel like I’m failing at explaining it, sadly.
The problem isn’t your idea. The problem is that some people use your idea to push their love for mounts which would in the end completely go against the idea you have in the first place.
They see “exploration” as getting though the map on a shiny mount. I see exploration as going around, jumping on boulders and mountain sides while falling down cracks and holes. Two worlds clash unleashing an argument we’re having right now.
I have never said anything even remotely in favour on mounts- I think they will not work for GW2.
I do think way points give us the option to explore or not
What I Absulotely do not want to do, is to spend my 1 hour play time running to where I want to be- I want to get there and play.

yes sure I agree- which is why I have never had a problem finding things to do in game.
still you know, sometimes you just want to hit say ? Hydra Queen because you need some ecto’s and then- what?
you are in Fire Heart Rise because you felt nostalgic last night?
Way points definitely have their uses.
Btw my all time favorite thing in this game is just exploring and wandering around but someone has to pay the bills.
So I get those things over as quickly as possible so I can get back to playing content I love

This is a not so stealth bump- because I have seen the subject mentioned in several threads today.
So can we please have a general suggestion sub – forum or the like?
It is becoming very very difficult to actually follow the general discussion,
Thats the thing I never said they were hard, they are boring . I already have a hardmode class to 80 which is thief . The squishiest class in the game. But thief is fast and has no cooldowns which makes it amazing . But some classes just cant move like necro\guardians. Extremly dull to stand still because of the lack of mobility.
And not only they are slow but they cant use many weapons.
Guardian has so many weapon choices I am not sure how many more you want.
you do realize your weapons skills give you movement options right?
while Guardians are kinda slow- they are hardly rooted to the spot.
With scepter/focus and staff mine seems pretty mobile to me
my Necro is not slow at all.
my mesmers are slow but they have so many evasion an movement options that it is irrelevant
I really think you should actually play the classes, because I am not sure you have.
btw there is nothing hard mode about thief
(edited by Morrigan.2809)
From your post I am not sure if you actually tried the other professions- lvl3?
Warrior and thief are very spammy, other professions not so much- what weapons and traits you use also make a huge difference in how a class plays and no- they are not all alike.
While I am all for more weapon skills – I think you need to explore a bit what is in the game already.
I know with the recent forum changes the idea is that people post suggestions in the relevant forums and that makes sense to me.
What about suggestions that don’t fit into anything particularly?
you know general suggestions?
Thing is the general discussion forum has always been the place for discussion about the game but as it stands, since the changes- we have so many suggestions, that it is difficult to find the discussion threads.
This makes it very hard to follow threads you are interested in keeping up with, since this has always been a fast moving forum.
We are all familiar with the search function ;p
So how about a suggestions thread/sub-heading under the general discussion forum?
