I do remember that the owner got stuck in a static field that activated to contain an Orrian scout- basically her house defenses kick in if there is a threat to her, and they last for a very long time- I forget whether it is thousands or millions of years.

if you preview the armors you will see that the blue bits give off an aurora and also have moving cloud like space/dust across the surface- I imagine it would be even more noticeable in game.

it also completely obscures the facial features to the point where it is hard to tell the race between my humans and sylvari.

I cannot really imagine anyone thinking that the blue is skin- given all that.

But yes it makes you look sort of like a celestial race.

I actually like the armor.. I bought it for my female human mesmer (my only issue with it atm is that it ruins mesmer phantasms (see image below).. I do however see the blue parts as skin when worn as a set ala Dr. Manhattan.. I’m not saying it’s offensive or whatever though, it’s just my perception.

you can follow the blob, split up and do events in small parties , or you can solo around and rescue citizens and collect keepsakes, or just sight see.

no reason to zerg if you don’t want to.
it is useful to have people around to get you back up though, since it is pretty lethal in there

condition damage can be great as a Mesmer but I would go hybrid power/ condition rather than all out power or condi.

You need to look at confusion as a condition-
thing like vulnerability will also help you if you alternate with a power weapon.

personally use gs/staff on my Mesmers but I have heard good things about sword sword and scepter/torch too
It all kind of depends on what kind of play style you enjoy since the weapons and traits affect it quite a lot on a Mesmer

the problem is your level-
Mesmers are very trait dependent and they really only come into their own at higher levels.
At level 12 you don’t really have anything going for you yet
So level up a bit- meanwhile, pick a weapon that does power damage and some sustained damage.

This made me wonder if we are being patsies.
I mean we know from Scarlet’s Lair that she has a big screen with huge x’s on it.

I think the fact that it makes your character blue/unearthly/ ethereal looking sort of balances the skimpiness.

kind of like a god really- the classic gods were not exactly known for covering up

My question is about the blue- I guess it stays even if you mix and match with other sets?
So basically you would end up with a piebald character?

Such a shame- a nice touch would have been to either have the skin effect on- even if you mix armors, or an on/off toggle

I only ever use one character to forge with- I only forge sigils and runes mostly.
She has amazing luck- I fully expect her to get a full set of Travelers out of the Forge for her one day.
Then again she also gets the best drops of all my characters :P

Here is my new Engi- she is only level 36 or so but I like the look she has going on

I am excited and I think it will be epic- sorry to burst your bubble.

OP I am not sure when last you were in Kessex- I suggest you stop at Overlake Haven and listen to the NPC dialog.
(It is not just there but I was just there 5 minutes ago)
It reflects recent events- hearts around the Lake has also been changed to reflect the events of the last months.
Kessex has gone trough about 4 different incarnations recently.

The zone is returning to it’s former beauty as we speak- albeit gradually with clean up crews etc

I think that with LA we will see the same thing, with regards to the surrounding zones – I don’t think we will actually return to LA

The general feeling I have observed in game seems overwhelmingly positive, people think it is awesome and exciting and they can’t wait to see what happens.

Part of the problem with that is that the karkas are intelligent. It’s a very alien intelligence, but it’s there.

You don’t need Ascended armor. The stat increase over Exotics is minor. So if you’ve given up on getting these, you can still play the game as normal.

People like you are the reason wurm can’t be beaten.

Yes the stats do matter. They offer a 5-15% damage increase. That is a HUGE amount of damage when everything in this game is a dps race.

If you don’t think that much damage matters then please don’t show up to the wurm event or any timed event that is introduced from this point forward.

And this right here has been my problem with Ascended Gear since it launched.

If Anet had to bring out content balanced around Ascended we will have gear gated content, We don’t have that yet.
Your attitude is appalling and it is precisely why I will never get Ascended in any form- guess what?
I can still do content in my Exotics because skill does not equal big numbers

I have 8 characters and 5 of them are at 80.
I play all of them equally.
I use my 80’s for world events and such- but I pretty much play whoever I am in the mood for whenever

yes it sucks at the moment- just when I was looking forward to a Friday night binge too.

But the last day or so is really not usual- I have been playing since the betas and I have always had a really smooth experience- barring a few hiccoughs here and there so don’t loose heart

Actually I was in Ascalon settlement in Gendarren last night- seems like a much better option to me than old Ascalon- just clear out/ make a treaty with the centaurs and done.

And people are upset when content is moved out of the game. New and shiny wins every time. It is still done on Aurora glade, just not as well or as often as before EOTM came out. It was really nice to have 3 or 4 times during the day that it would be completed but those days are gone.

The Living Story needs to show that it can have a huge impact in the world- it also needs to be freed from the personal story so we can move forward to things that matter

Like- the cleansing of Orr- the treaty between the Humans and Charr, the cleansing of the ghosts etc- stuff like that, that changes and moves the world forward.

LA is too much of a comfort zone, while it stands people will always think- oh well LA is still there, how bad can it be?

btw the assets form the festivals can very easily be reused somewhere else.

I like having different dyes on all my characters and spending ages thinking up a theme that suits them.
None of them use the same dyes so far

Dyes are really not that expensive- I sell most of my high end ones because I often prefer the less expensive ones.

If I do want an expensive dye for whatever reason I just buy it

I don’t have any direct interest in the current topics either but it does impact a large part of the player base that has been neglected until now.
I think it is fair to address those things.

We all play different things and we will all get our turn- do not worry, just follow the discussion if you don’t feel you can give input- I always find it interesting even if I have nothing to add

I have 2 level 80 Mesmers.
My first character I made in BWE’s was a human Mesmer and she was my first 80.
Later I fell in love with with Sylvari – so I made a Sylvari Mesmer.
They have different builds so they don’t play the same at all.

I am doing the same with an Engi right now- just had to have a Sylvari Engi too

One person mentioned Southsun Cove and I have to agree. It’s close, has “pirate paradise” written all over it, already has several wrecked ships that can be retooled into buildings like Lion’s Arch is and even has its own jumping puzzles. The only problem is the karka. I personally would love to see a living story patch where players decide to exterminate, relocate or domesticate them.

Incorporate player housing into that and it would be amazing. I like the idea of a domestic karka

Well I do mostly solo stuff because my kid hates instances -.-
I like exploring and gathering and I love atls.
I have also enjoyed the LS quite a lot and things like the Queens gaunlet, Teq, Mari have been great fun for me.
For the big bosses you really just have to be there, read map and follow directions.

I also like making my own goals, so I never wonder what to do really

Vigil Keep makes perfect sense in that one of the main tenets of the Vigil is to support the weak and displaced-
That said, I think it should be temporary- it would be interesting if there is no city hub- it could make for interesting politics and will give more weight to the main cities.

hehe the skrit in me thinks all the shineys from the forge has to go somewhere….

So I spent all of last night actually running around taking screenies- only to find just now that my folder had been full again -.-

What was really really weird though is that the entire time I was there- there was a map black out- complete silence.

The place was packed as usual, just no one was talking, not in map or say.
It seemed like a lot of people were standing around listening to the nPC’s

You don’t need to buy a new profession you have 5 character slots- just roll whatever you like.

About movement- as someone has said try moving with the left and right mouse buttons held in- it becomes very natural quite quickly and it frees your left hand to use for skills. Since you have an MMO mouse consider binding your Fskills to your thumb bottons and you can bind dodge too.

Mesmer is a very nice class – I have 2
the thing is they are pretty trait dependent so they do become a lot more powerful at higher levels.
They are fairly slow to level- but they have so many tricks that you shouldn’t really have trouble staying alive.
Try Great Sword and Staff for leveling.
GS does more damage the longer the distance from target and it does great damage- you also have a very nice knock back in case you get swamped.

Staff is very very useful for chaos storm- use it often as both an attack and defense.
If you cast it on yourself and use staff 2 to jump back you will get chaos armor on yourself.
That said chaos armor (staff 4) is a very nice thing- use it
Don’t forget to make use of your phantasms- they hit like trucks

I’m 90% sure I saw him using mesmer skills – no illusions though – during the duel in the Trial of Zamon.

Certainly wields his sword like a mesmer.

Unless they changed it between BWE and release. Because looking at the PS story step on the wiki… Minister Guard Reth I’m pretty sure had a staff with guardian skills. You had choices of two mesmers and two guardians as your seconds initially. I’m pretty sure…

Never did that during the BWE’s only after release- I am pretty sure guard Reth is a ranger now

There is another personal story step where you fight along side Faren- when you go save the hostages from the bandits in Bandihaut.
He is not a bad fighter at all- what I think causes confusion though is that every time I recall him fighting in his town clothes- which of course looks like cloth armor.

My main reason for suspecting him to be E- is that he is really the only one of the personal story NPC’s that makes repeated comebacks in the LS.
He has been pretty prominent really.

I don’t believe for one second that he is really the happy go lucky lecher, goofball he makes himself out to be

the pistols and the scepter.

No news on a new race- all tough we all want one

Personally I am in love with the Sylvari- I started out with 5 human characters but after my love affair with Sylvari -I only have 3 left and I have 5 Sylvari.

Humans now look a bit bland to me and it bothers me terribly that my humans don’t glow

Any new race would have to be cooler than the Sylvari for me to even consider playing it :P
