I am sorry but the home instance is in no way, shape or from player housing.

I realize you are very against the idea but you have to also realize that many many GW2 players have been asking- no begging- for player housing since launch.

Make no mistake- Anet is very aware of that, what is more they are also aware of how player housing and the associated game mechanics can impact the game.

What was frustrating about this latest living story update? Why do people keep making new threads about small stuff? Spend your time playing the game instead of whining on the forums about little nothings. If you expect any new content to be totally bug free, you are not a very smart person.

The problem is, that we get new buggy content ever two weeks. It is like buggy content gets replaced with buggy content. Instead of fixing content, we just get more of the same crap all the time.

There is no such thing as bug free software- it doesn’t exist

If you release content every 6 months you will still have bugs- that sometimes never gets fixed

We get new content more frequently and fixing the bugs on that is top priority for Anet- which is why we get hot fixes.

I don’t think it is a language issue so much as a TLDR issue because people can’t be bothered.
Same with map chat- you will always have the people who can’t be bothered.

The first night of this patch we had a 100 people afk at red while blue and green had maybe 20- then of course naturally all 100 at red woke up at the same time dps him down asap while we are all screaming in map to split etc- to no avail what so ever- because they just went back to afk and the event failed.

People are like sheep- they are difficult to steer and slow to catch on

Funny…I was just thinking this morning how maybe Scarlet had ‘planned all this to happen’ and actually used the ley lines to take control of a dragon’s body. We know it’s possible, seeing how Snaff did it.

I have a Mesmer a Necro and an Ele
Mesmer wears mostly t1 with some t2
Necro wears some t2 with winged chest
Ele wears tier1, tier2 and Whispers skirt

I pretty much made duplicates of my human 80’s into Sylavri.
Once I fell in love with the Sylvari, it bothered me playing humans.
So now I have 8 characters but at least I am very happy with how they look.

I would love a Royal Terrace Pass.
I am one of those people who missed it.

I bought a two week pass for the Ship and I used it, but I consider DR my home on all my characters so it just makes more sense to me.
the one day airship passes I have will probably not get used at all

The Pale Tree also said that the Sylvari needed Ceara but that she didn’t care.
It bothers me a lot because I fear that we will never know

It really depends on the quest. Personal story style missions? Sure, it would be nice, especially for lore and background.

kill 10 rats busy work type quests? hell no

Isn’t this basically what daily/monthly/living story achievments are, kill 10 different mobs, pick up 30 relics, etc etc, you can dress it anyway you want, its still the same repetitive quest system.

the difference is you don’t have to do dailies to see the story :P

I took my Priory Scholar Sylvari Necro- she felt bad but she figured rather she do it and do it well and make sure, than someone else botch the job.

The ridicle is that Anet puts so many pointlights on so much useless details when the whole lore, animation, and plot are a total fail.
Do you think that detail is going to make the character more realistic? To give it more deepness? Really?

So are they actually paying a person who applied and studied to do this mansion?

Overarching plot is important. Details make me care. Buffy slays vampires. Lots of vampires. Cool. But I care more about the character. Things that make you “you” matter in creating a textured character. Are hiccups the be all, end all? No. But I appreciate the consistency in developing a character.

(A “Saved by the Bell” reference didn’t fly the other day, so I realized I’m old-ish. “Buffy: The Vampire Slayer” is a show from the 90’s. This concludes today’s history lesson.)

The plot is missing so many details that have been questions by numerous people across multiple threads and releases and we are wasting time with hiccups. You can skip the reveal of an Elder Dragon but you can’t skip the dialogue of these four characters (who have so little importance in the overall story it really bugs me they are constantly taking the spotlight). That’s so backwards it’s not even funny.

If the overall plot was solid and the details fleshed out, maybe then we can have trivial things like hiccups, but come on. We know more about Kasmeer’s biological functions than we do about why Scarlet’s armies are still in Lion’s Arch and following her despite failures (a dev post on the forums doesn’t count, it has to be in the game) or emphasising that they are splinter groups rather than the full factions. We see more about their intimate relationship than we see of the three orders and their members (which includes most players) and the role they are playing in the fight for Lion’s Arch (their leadership, who was tasked with certain roles etc). What’s more important for understanding this plot and Tyria as a living breathing world, the fact that Kasmeer has hiccups when she’s nervous or exploring in greater detail why Scarlet’s alliances formed and how they are viewed by the factions they came from? No stories change when you know Kasmeer has hiccups, the politics of the Flame Legion and their relevance to the other three Legions is very relevant when you wonder how the dredge alliance impacts on them and the possibility of molten technology being used by the entire Flame Legion.

Maybe Scarlet would have been better received and the big events shaping Tyria would have been more compelling for players if they had been treated as important as developing four characters who were wedged into the story and steal the show during the final encounter. These characters feel more like fan service (awe how cute, she has hiccups) than good story telling and world building.

The story became so tightly focused on these four characters that the details outside of their group (which is most of the story up until now) felt like they became secondary considerations. I know they think that the story didn’t choose one (characters) or another (story and lore) but I have to disagree, the former felt like it overshadowed everything else.

Now that they’ve done what they set out to do (introduce these four characters) I really hope the future content only uses them when it’s most relevant and can allow them to become part of the background, not front and centre.

There is plot and there is sub- plot do not confuse the two.
these characters have been there throughout various parts of the main plot- they are your friends.
Knowing personal details about them makes your character into a person not a door.

As for the main plot- we do know why Scarlet"s armies are still in LA- the escape from LA lasted only one hour in real time, the battle for LA is still going on now from their perspective.
What they will do once they find out Scarlet is dead we will only see once this story is actually finished.

We also know how the Molten Alliance impacts on the Flame Legion. We know the Flame Legion does not have access to their tech -yet. They might later, or they might be killed on sight.
Same with the other alliances.
We know they are splinter groups it is hardly a mystery- we know this because we can clearly see in game that the regular Flame Legion/ Dredge, Krait/ Nightmare court are still around.

We do know what the Orders are doing- they have the camps outside of LA and was staging the rally to muster the armies.

The LS is not focused around these characters- rather they are the inner circle around you the Player character and the main plot is the events that move you all.

A story can hardly happen in a vacuum occupied by one player character and a horde of monsters.

this is how I explained the LS to a friend I am trying to recruit to GW2

We have had this Evil Genius who has been running around recruiting an army made up of pretty xenophobic factions.
She did this by guile, extortion and promises of power.

Her aim seems to be pretty obscure still and because of her alliances she has access to very advanced tech.

Just recently she nuked the kitten out of the Main City because she is trying to get at a ley line nexus that is located under it- ley lines contain the flow of magic in the world.
The city is just collateral damage to her

I don’t know- I really like the system in GW2 with the combination of hearts, DE’s LS and Personal story.
The lore is there it is just that most people don’t pay attention to it.

The thing is with the system we have now- you can participate or walk away.

I hated quests in traditional MMO’s because it is much more like a check list- you have to do x to do y- regardless of whether you want to or not.

Don’t even get me started on running across an entire zone to do something for this npc- and then running back.
Only to find out that you now have to run in another direction- that kind of nonsense made me rage quit recently in another MMO’s Beta after 20 min of play, I simply didn’t care if there was a story after that.

Because we Sylvari are clearly the master race- the rest of Tyria has just not realized it yet

She pricked her finger in the Tower- Marjory made an anti toxin that destroyed the Tower- Scarlet later used the anti toxin to manufacture the maisma.

It seems very unlikely that Marjory did not give Kasmeer the anti toxin the moment she stepped out of the Tower.

As has been said- Kasmeer hiccups when she is scared.

The two have nothing to do with each other.

As for the OP- I would love to see a male/ male relationship in the game.
Problem is I see no place for it atm and no candidates at all- at least not in the prominent NPC’s

Heck I have enjoyed Kasmeer/ Marjory and Penelopee/ Boomaloo so much, that I now want more romance- it just makes the characters more real and normal to me, like they have a life that is not tied to kill kill kill all the time.

I dunno- I have been playing since betas and I consider myself pretty dedicated- I like the LS.
It keeps things fresh and interesting- just because you don’t like it, doesn’t mean the game is dying- I am not sure you have been in game lately because it is packed.

These forums are very anti LS but that is not what I am seeing in game at all.
What I am seeing is people being invested in what is going on.
I also don’t understand the obsession with a boxed expansion- you will get all that, just via the LS.

It really seems to me the same people who say the LS sucks are the people who claim they don’t do it- so how can you possibly have an opinion on content you have not played?
kind of like people saying the personal story doesn’t make sense because I skipped all the dialog

Kasmeer has admitted that she gets hiccups when she is nervous or scared- she has done this since she was a child and it irritates her because she feels it makes her look like a child.
Marjory told her she thinks it is adorable during the scene at the Priory camp in the last update.

I thought it was quite touching how, despite how nervous she was, she went completely ham on Scarlet.

It serves the purpose of showing you the characters state of mind during the fight

Trahearne was a character that had a backstory, and, if you played Sylvari, he has been around from the beginning to the end of Zhaitan.
You got the feeling to know him, and even though, knowing him meant hating him, he had character built up.

All new characters are just placeholders for stereotypes. Boring as kitten.

I play Sylvari- I have 5 at the moment and the only reason I don’t have more is because I have not bought more character slots.

I have always really really liked Trahearne.

I have a lot of respect for him and he has been a constant in the lives of my characters, I miss him.
I really feel like, while I like to make new friends, I miss my oldest and most constant companion

They are also not prominent.

Marjory and Kasmeer are human, and pretty and their relationship is part of the story- because you are their friend you spend time with them.

I enjoy love stories a lot. They make me feel squishy inside. I’m glad to see them in a game I love.

I’m 22y/o and i hate “feels”, maybe i just too cynical for this kind of story. In my mind story should be way more brutal and grim. If game can show homosexual romance it can show something really dark and scary.

Seriously though the two Quaggans you mention are male and female- people have been following their romance since Tower of Nightmares.

Personally I have always thought of Faolin and Caithe as more in the background, like Logan and Jenna.
they are not having a relationship so much as being exes with creepy issues.
Their sexuality is also irrelevant with them being Sylvari

So that leaves Marjory and Kasmeer as the only prominent same sex relationship.

I really cannot read social agenda/ political correctness/ fan service or whatever into this.

Rather I see it as character development- it is just a different aspect of their personalities.
As for the “Lesbian scenes”- I assure you I would have had exactly the same reaction if my husband had almost died.

Well I did enjoy the LS in total.
I think it was an extremely bold experiment and that they learned a lot from the first season.
It is pretty apparent in the last couple of updates that they do take feedback into account.

I think it was a huge improvement in story delivery when the writers learned to script- the feel of the story has improved so much.
Putting the story in the game in the form of instances, dialog and ambient dialog has been a huge improvement.

I am glad to see that the LS is being used finally to drive the main plot.

The characters themselves:

I don’t have a problem with Scarlet- I never have, I realize I might be completely alone in this but meh.
She was driven and unusual in her focus and more than a little bonkers- my main problem (unless it gets addressed 18th March) is that nothing about her has been explained, even the little back story we have, has been left hanging.

I enjoy the biconics- they are a fun bunch and they are “younger” like the player character.
I have always had a problem with Destiny’s Edge, because even though they are mentors of sorts, who are very accomplished individuals they act like a bunch of angsty teens.
I don’t like any one of them

The biconics on the other hand seem much more real to me and their concerns and personalities just seem more real.
Except for Taimi- I have had very little to do with her but she seems like an add on to fill a roster- might be because I hate Asuras :p

I would like in the future to see the LS expand more on the lore in Tyria.
The problem has always been that the personal story keeps the world static- I have hopes that this is a step in the direction of separating the LS and the PS in terms of timelines so that the world can move on.

I would love it if we could finalize peace with the Charr, put the ghosts to rest, expand Ebonhawke ( great opportunity to expand on Logan’s character)
and finally cleanse Orr.

But those questions I listed- it really really bugs me and I can only hope that we will see the answers in the epilogue.

Who is E and what is Caithe’s secret?
What did the Pale Tree mean when she said that the Sylvari needed Ceara and that she didn’t care?
What was Ceara’s very important destiny that she turned away from?
Why did the PaleTree think she is confused about power and authority?

Currently everyone and his mom are fighting in Lion’s Arch because it got nuked pretty badly and many people took it quite personally.

There are many people playing- I have spent most of the last couple of patches in overflow when I do Living Story content.

Usually I see plenty of people on the regular maps- it is just that atm the LS is kind of a big deal, being the final wrap after a year.

that is why I love my G600- my F skills, 6-0 skills are on my thumb buttons and I move with my mouse.
My left hand gets to press 1-5 only.

ps I tried playing with my husband’s Rocat Kone once- blegh -never again it felt like pushing a brick

I have had a G600 since just after launch- bought it for GW2.
Never looked back, it is an amazing mouse.
Especially if you play an Ele or Engi

I play on Gunnar’s Hold and this has not been my experience.

Generally people are a very nice and helpful bunch, the few times someone did pull a kitten in chat he got shut down pretty fast.

The attitude on my server seems to be fairly mature and live and let live.
I mostly see unpleasantness answered with- lol

Since I play alone most of the time I do pay attention to chat

I don’t have a heavy Sylvari but my Light and Medium sets do glow.

Some more than others depending on the dye.

I wear darker colors on my medium sets so you can’t see the glow on my Ranger and only very slightly on my Engi
I am not at all sure if the T1 pants has a glow.

The light armor T1 and t2 glows beautifully

I wear a mix of different cultural mostly on all my Sylvari but no Tier 3, so can’t help you there

I think the glow on the armors have been finalized.

Here is how it works:

The glow you can adjust with the slider during character creation applies only to your body- not your armor and you select one color.
You have a slider to select the brightness.

The armor has a separate dye channel that is tied to glow- you will have to see which it is on each set.
The brightness of the glow is dependent on the color dye you put in the channel,
The lighter the dye- the brighter the glow.

So you could have your armor glow match your own- have a different color or one that is not visible at all much.

you can change it at any time by changing the dye on your armor

personally I think the cherry on the cake is that they stuff them full of LS/Seasonal fillers.

IF they actually put something worthwhile in the chest, guaranteed for your purchase- it might be worth it.
It doesn’t have to be big- geez, I get BL kits and hair kits, repair canisters, trans-stones etc regularly with just my daily
