Just limit those shown characters and lower their texture quality. Problem solved. I play on 3-4 years old hardware and have 30+ FPS with this settings.

We’re currently looking at a few things regarding individual fractal difficulty and length. A couple of options are reducing the length of unnecessarily long fractals (dredge) and modifying the possible sequence of randomly selected fractals so you don’t get the longest and most difficult ones all on the same run.

Please, change or scrap first room of dredge fractal. Those mobs 2shot you on lvl 48 difficulty. Last time I ran it I was insulted that I (guardian) am scared to tank. But how? I use my focus barrier, 2 aegises, heal skill and dodges. It let me live about 30-60 seconds and meanwhile they wanted from me to agro dredge who was constatnly running towards the guy who was opening the gate. It is just not possible to let one guardian do the whole job and agro 10 or so mobs which kill you with 2 shockwaves. Lower the number of dredge here or change it somehow for it to be more fun to play.

Everytime we get dredge fractal it’s like “aaaaaaw, again?!”

Every skill is useful. The game is just too easy and people don’t need to use them. Liadri, the Concealing Dark is another thing – she is the best example how to do challenging boss fight where you need to use all of your abilities in the right time. At least I had to on my guardian…

I spent about 20g to get weaponsmithing from 400 to 476. Saying it costs 200g is just silly. Stop QQing, start playing, farm those mithril and elder nodes, kill some champs, do some JPs, WvW, dungeons. And you can have it in a month.

Second thing:
Using all 9 weapons of guardian…. why do you need all of them on ascended tier? stat boost is not necessary. It is already easy to play with exotics. Craft only ascended weapon you use 95% of time. Like Greatsword, or Scepter. And craft it to boost your DPS, not base stats. And then play game, have fun… and after sime time you will find out you have another pile of mats to craft second ascended….

guys you are like little kids who need their toys right after they are released… stop crying, start playing.. nobody needs ascended now. They are just something you can work on for longer period of time.

What is the point of thrusting flowers when you don’t have to navigate? What is the point of geysers when you don’t have any fun finding out their patern?

After this nerf there could be just teleporters instead of flowers and pillars instead of geysers.

Just bring their functionality back… At least into tribulation mode.

I can’t get past King Toad on normal difficulty. I’ve wasted over 20 continue coins on King Toad alone.

Break his necklace, take gem, wait for him to open his mouth, throw it at him. If you don’t have gem and he open his mouth, time dodge to evade his sweeping attack.
Watch out where he looks – he will throw shockwave from that place. If he looks around he is going to do butt shockwave. Always run to safe spots – 2 rocks in the water.
Throw 3 gems onto him, smash him with your pointy stick and that’s it.

This crap sometimes happens… I was playing W2Z2 for almost 2 hours and at the end of the zone I run out of coins so I wasted my time too. But QQing about it on forums is useless…

I agree with OP. Doing this living story feels more like job because there are deadlines. And nobody wanna miss it.

Glad I am not the only one. I too finished normal mode W2, but it was completely different to W1. Just not fun at all….
I am not going to play tribulation mode and not going to repeat normal mode just for grinding skins… not worth it.
Anet, I hope you will start doing meaningful content and get back to dragons. I did not buy this game to fight some creepy psycho sylvari child or bash pinatas, or pixelated bears.

12/13 here. Iron Marches never come up and today was the last day I could play this update. Anet, next time make invasions on separate overflows which can be joined by everyone on every server any time. This is not fair at all. I spent 16 hours today by waiting for Iron Marches as I missed them in morning…. nothing but Frostgorge sound was 3 times!!!! That’s just stupid

5 gambit is easily doable with Ooze boss and second opponent… don’t pick gambit for lesser damage, ignore the bonus boss

So I kept those tickets I farmed during invasions and tried Light Up the Darkness one more evening I did it on my 11th try and with around 150 tries in total with my guardian. Spent/lost (as I haven’t turned my tickets to gold reward by farming deadeye) around 25g on tickets + rare zerker armor set.

I used totally inappropriate mix of items for this, so that means that personal skill (and luck) is big part of the success too.
Armor:
3x exotic soldier’s armor piecies(helmet, torso,leggins) with 3x superior rune of the monk
3x rare berseker’s armor(gauntlets, shoulderpads, boots) with 3x major rune of eagle
Weapons:
Mystic Claymore with superior sigil of stamina/
some crappy rare healing sword + exotic soldier’s focus
Jewelry:
Soldier’s ascended bacpack
Soldier’s ascended accessory 2x
exotic berseker’s amulet (no jewel inside )
Ring of Red Death
Rurik’s Royal Signet

Traits:
Radiance 10 – I
Honor 30 – II, IX, XI
Virtues 30 – II, IX, VII

Skills: Shelter, Retreat, SYS, SYG, Renewed Focus

Food: Bowl of Orrian Truffle and Meat Stew, Quality Maintenance Oil

Tactic: pretty much same as many other guardians showed on youtube. Just be sure to count seconds (not sure how long it takes, I always count to 4 with my tempo) when you have to dodgeroll into AOE, never risk picking/throwing orb near shadows if you don’t activate Shield of Wrath or blind them. Always try to dodge out of Liadri’s leash attack. Put your GS’s Symbol of Wrath on ground to: damage Liadri, activate retaliation and tag shadows. Always have magnetic orb as top priority to destroy, use SYG when you cannot reach it due to AOE. Whirlwind Liadri while you move away from her. Don’t forget to use your Virtue of Justice as AOE blind.

important: turn off auto targeting, key bind some button on target cancel (escape button is too far and you cannot spam it… it is best to bind it to your side button on mouse if you have them). When you need to escape use sword teleport skills on magnetic orb if its up, or lonely shadow(it will get blind so you won’t die if it blows up) or use your Leap of Faith to escape: aim your camera to which direction you want to land and be sure you don’t have targeted Liadri + try not to aim directly cross the shadows… some of them blow up without animation and kill you mid air
important2 get group, target Liadri with mark so you can quickly target her back after you use Leap of Faith
important3 if your dodge energy is depleted, don’t panic. You have 4 seconds before Shadowfall goes down onto you… if you can, use retreat and run out of it. If you are too far from safe zone, use shelter or renewed focus – be sure to spam all virtues before renewed focus ends.

….I don’t know.. there are so many things you have to keep tracking that it is insane to manage it all. I killed her in last moment – threw 8 orbs on her, had 45 more seconds left (thanks announcer NPC) and Liadri had like 30% HP left.
So I tried not to panic, put down symbol of wrath, kitted shadows via binding blades+dodge escape and dmged Liadri with Whirlwind to like 2% HP, then I screwed up and dodged right into shadows… pressed all buttons (activated retaliation) and got downed… more shadows were coming,
Liadri was whipping me and while doing that she got retaliation dmg.. I used my #1 skill on her and killed her just in time when shadows was going to explode and kill me + Shadowfall AOE was going to fall and kill me too

It was so dramatic end that I’m really sorry I haven’t recorded it, or at least played in arena with other players waiting outside so they could have seen it.

Anet said months ago that they’ll continue to monitor the precursor prices and make changes if necessary (this was after the karka-fail event) – Fail.

Myself and quite a few others on my server in particular have all the gifts ready to go, just waiting on that darned precursor. Go easy on us please – we’ve invested a shedload of time and cash into these already.

And yet not missing any orbs requires skill. You can have the most Godly luck and still fail to do that achievement, if you lack the skill or practice. I won’t say it is entirely devoid of luck but it requires more skill than luck. It is extremely tough and I doubt any one out there could complete it two times in a row, but it takes skill to finally beat it. Even if the luck factor plays some kind of a role.

I press my focus skills which gives me 5 stacks of aegis and come to shadows – they just run around me and don’t blow up so my skill was useless. Other times it works – LUCK
I press my leap of faith (no target, no autotargetting) to leap through shadows to get to crystal – normally they don’t have time to cast their blow up so you can safely leap past them. Sometimes, they blow up with no casting time in the middle of the leap – LUCK

sometimes you exchage 2-3 shadows for crystals, sometimes only one even though they were on the same spot – LUCK

I don’t have any problem with evading Liadri or her ultra big AOEs, but those shadows behave inconsistently, so every risky move like that focus skill, or leap skill to get the area around crystals clear of them, is not always working. And I cannot use dodge all the time to create time to pick up crystals. So yes, it requires luck, at least on guardian. Some other professions have better mobility skills – like warrior’s whirwind attack – they are invulnerably while they doing it, why leap of faith doesn’t work the same way?

Another bug: I used renewed focus to avoid AOEs, but it wouldn’t be enough so almost at the end of that skill I used dodge to avoid last tick of AOE, not worked, though it should.

This boss is totally unfair, tell what you want, it’s more about luck even if you possess the skill.

Being the nemesis in a position of power would enable you to hide in plain sight and be capable of pulling off more of your dark agenda than anything else. Not many people are able to do it, and that’s a good thing, because gw2 doesn’t have enough tough content, it’s something to legitimately work towards that can’t be achieved any other way but skill and patience.

I haven’t got it yet, but I know I can do it soon, I’ve been close more than a few times, hitting her with 8 orbs and having her on low health just to get excited and panic and mess up a dodge. Not even getting frustrated in the slightest, I’m loving the challenge, because it’s based on patterns and not RNG luck. Work on specific timing and movement paths so you can near replicate the same run each attempt (and watch out for the rifts!).

To be honest the only fight that frustrated me was windcaller…. getting thrown around and the terrible camera from being stuck against the wall really burnt my muffins….

I felt the same way at the beginning, but then I lost so much gold on it and the thought that this achievement will be gone in some time and that gives me the feeling of pressure which I don’t like when I am trying to enjoy something. I too had 8 orbs 2times – one time I died on bad dodge, second time I died with 10% of Liadri HP and the floor openned(I have only soldier equip and some zerker rare…). And I need someone who counts those orbs for me I always have problems with that count :P

OK so Queen Jenna is Scarlet. Also she’s the leader of the aetherblade pirates. Anise is her first mate / lesbian lover and together they plan to subtly rule tyria.

Anyway they catch that Sylvari pirate from the opening ceremony and she turns out to be another one of Caithe’s former lesbian lovers turned evil. Logan interrogates her and she spills the beans that the Queen is actually in charge of the aetherblade pirates.
Logan is all like “aw no WTF m8?” and he’s conflicted and goes into seclusion deciding what to do and he listens to a lot of coldplay during this time and doesn’t often leave his room.

Meanwhile the seraph are in disarray and the aetherblades infiltrate divinities reach. The watch knights are under their command and they all turn into their victim’s worst nightmares like those things in harry potter only no one knows the ridiculo spell in tyria. All hope is lost. or is it?

A group of 5 anonymous adventurers, most with names of characters from naruto and purple hair, appear to save the day. Two of them are commanders even though they’ve never set foot in WvW. you must be really fast i did 16 tries on my guardian today, i managed to get to 8 orbs but the time run out everytime you have to use some burst damage skills… range dmg is commonly not enough

Hey! Look at it this way. When I tried to kill her with my guardian with 3 orbs, I couldn’t do it. That was a pretty dps guardian as it is. 83% crit dmg and 51% crit chance.

When I did the 8 orbs on my guardian, I spec’d to be tanky 60% crit dmg and 39% crit chance at 3,016 armor. I was able to down her no problem because the extra orbs give her vulnerability stacks. And they’re not ordinary vulnerability stacks. They seem to do way more damage.

Trick is to multi task. You need to keep attacking her while kiting the spawns to the spots. You can’t stop attacking her on phase 2. You’ll notice the vulnerability help immencely

Light Up the Darkness
Traits: Justice is Blind, Superior Aria, Pure of Voice, Vengeful, Absolute Resolution
Skills: Shelter, Stand Your Ground, Hold the Line, Save Yourselves, Renewed Focus
Weapons: Sword/Shield
Tactic:

1. Find and kill the first cosmic orb immediately, then stand between the first clone and first light well, facing the clone. The 1st AoE will be off somewhere else. The 2nd will appear behind you. After your Aegis blocks one of her attacks, use SYG and SY to stack up on retaliation. Use HTL if you need the extra health regen. The 3rd AoE will be right on top of you, so dodge backwards and get out. Make sure the clone is always walking in a straight line towards the well. After the clone becomes a crystal, immediately pick it up and throw it at Liadri.
2. Proceed to the next light well, but walk on the LEFT SIDE of Liadra and stand on with the well to your right. There will be an AoE on top of the well. After that happens, stand behind the well so the far clone is walking straight into the well. You will be blinded but don’t worry. The AoE will hit somewhere else. After the clone walks into the well, pick up the crystal and throw it at Liadri. During this waiting time, you can walk back and forth to prevent Liadri’s projectiles from hitting you, saving you some hp.
3. Proceed towards the light well on the left of you. Use Shield⁵ to push the clone into the light well. If the cosmic orb appears on the well, kill it before picking up the crystal. Else, use Stand Your Ground to prevent being pulled. Pick up the crystal and look for the cosmic orb and light well. If the cosmic orb and light well are together, move straight through Liadri and throw the crystal at her when you are between her and the light well. Since this is the 3rd throw, she will become active. Don’t stand too close to the light well, or she will leap at you and spin. You want her to spin in place. After she starts spinning, hide behind the light well to lure the clones in.
4. Stage 2: The tactic for stage 2 is fairly simple (but hard to perform). Always stand near light wells to lure clones to them. The AoE in stage 2 targets opposites sides of the arena and alternate. Stand near the edges and keep walking/dodging back and forth. Use your shouts immediately after Liadri leaps and cripples you (changes cripple into swiftness). While waiting for clones to come, use Shield⁴ to keep protection on you when Liadri jumps you, but don’t try to tank her. Her spinning attack does a lot of damage. While you are waiting for clones to walk into the light well, walk back and forth in a circle/oval over the “borders” of the AoE. Once a clone walks into a light well, pick up the crystal and throw it at her. DON’T BE IMPATIENT. If the crystal is in the next area of AoE attacks, wait for the AoE to pass before picking it up. If there are a cluster of clones around the crystal, use Sword² on the clones and then, pick up the crystal. Don’t worry, the clones won’t hit you. If Sword² is down, use VoJ as your walk through them to pick up the crystal. After each crystal, look for the next well and repeat. If you run out of dodges, use Shelter/Renewed Focus to block AoE. If you run out of shouts and end up cripple, use VoR to remove it. Once you get 5 more crystals onto her, lure her near the middle and fight her while kiting in 1 direction through the safe zones. Because Liadri leaps, her clones will generally be further away from you.

Tips:

• Some arenas are different than others. I believe the arena with the Sylvari Ringmaster has a better setup. The light wells in that arena are further away from the wall, giving you more space to stand behind.
• The light wells spawn in the same 4 locations, in the same order. The next light well spawns immediately after a clone walks into the current light well.
• Blinding clones prevent them from hitting you when they explode.
• During stage 1, if you face Liadri and strafe side to side, you can dodge Liadir’s projectiles.
• During stage 2, the AoE alternates opposite sides of the arena. If you find yourself under the AoE and needing to dodge, stay in the same area after dodging.

I wasted 8 hours yesterday trying to beat her on my Guardian for that achievement. Couldn’t do it. Spent about 80 tickets.

Gonna spend the whole week farming more tickets and gonna try again on the weekend :|
