Ofc I don’t remember name of each character of each player in TCG, because such things aren’t worth memorizing.
Justin…please…
I see ‘balanced’ team on your side and 3 stacked warriors on OP side… so… please…
Not sure repears prot is that good.
I personally think 4 6 0 0 4 is the best condi necro spec.
If 06404 then greater marks is pretty good too.
Helps nec not being focused.
But the real prob is it being totally passive and braindead, 1 random bleed and you’re feared for 3+ secs for 3k random damage.
Both it and and nightmare runes need nerf.
The buff on necrotic grasp is quite good so necs won’t struggle on life force gen due to a sub-optimal auto and we can go back to proper builds like the one u listed.
Yes. Nerf Necros and buff Eles and Engis.
I would rather see ability to have mixed ques with NA…
Point is : you deal 0 damage if you are outplayed (dodged, evaded, blocked, blinded etc) with 25 might stacks and with 0 stacks.
Wrong. It accumulates and can be abused in fight later.
nothing is more passive than battle, it only requires you to be in combat. air/fire require you to connect your hits too.
Lol whats the point of having battle sig if you dont hit anything?
Points is: you can be outplayed (dodged, evaded, blocked, blinded etc) and it still will proc.
Were you expecting it to not show a loss?
Exacly. Since if it doesn’t counts, then it gives false image.
Losses will not count toward the leaderboard standings if a teammate outside your party has deserted. - Patchnotes
Thats not true.
Do you have a specific game date and time in mind where you believe that was not true for you? I’m querying your game history now, and that info would help me find it quicker.
Today at morning for example I’ve played Ranger, lost 4v5 and gained loss (guy was DCed early and never came back). Was unable to monitor if I’ve lost points for it, because I’ve played more than one game at that time. However loss is displayed.
I guess it gave me -points, same as I got +points for 5v4 (I think you can see it in my first 5 ranked games after preseason lanuch).
As I could not find a dev post about my particular question:
Now that the ladder has been reset and the rewards for the top 250 players have been sent out can we expect to get the same rewards (glorious hero armour pieces, mini llamas) again once this ladder will be reset?
I heard the phrase “off season” going around in this forum, but I could not find any information about possible rewards of the end of this ladder cycle.
Random Weird Guy.3528 is correct. This is an off-season, there will be no rewards. We enabled it just so people could monitor how they perform, if that is something they wish to track.
Could we get window in game to track it please?
Yea, I’m kinda sad to see this since it just kills off a bit more counterplay. This is particularly sad when you look at something like the necro downed state.
I would say that a Necro can be really dangerous when downed if they are speced for downed damage. In a close fight even if you go down first you’ll have a decent chance to down them as well and you’ll probably win that downed fight. I’m not saying it’s amazing, but that’s probably what the balance team considers when they think about buffing the Necro downed state.
Specing into downed state made me… hue hue hue.
After January 27th?
It’s from: 01/13/15 – January 13th Release Notes
I personally think you should always get dinged at least 1 point for a loss regardless of win probability. Otherwise I don’t know how the top of the leaderboard won’t always be mostly determined by who plays the most matches. Either that or we have to limit the games played per week that count toward LB.
I think LB standing it should be based on win ratio (%), but should require minimum 100 games played in season.

A little quote about casual games from wikipedia:
A casual game is a video game targeted at or used by a mass audience of casual gamers. Casual games can have any type of gameplay, and fit in any genre. They are typically distinguished by their simple rules and lack of commitment required in contrast to more complex hardcore games. They require no long-term time commitment or special skills to play, and there are comparatively low production and distribution costs for the producer
We could say that PvP in GW2 has nothing with casual gamming, because even if you don’t need to invest time be on equal footing in pvp gear wise, you need to do so to be on equal footing skill wise. Also game (pvp wise) is pretty complex and it won’t be easy to jump in for casuals since they will fail horribly due to skill floors in action-reaction fast paced fights, where it’s often dodge in right moment or die.
Also:
There are custom ‘farm’ servers.
You know that spvp is actually the most casual game mode right?
Casual = doens’t play very often of for long hours.
Spvp is the only game mode where you dont need to unlock utilities, have almost all the traits for free, etc. Is the only ready2go game mode. You log in an play. The other modes require you to lvl up and grind some gear.
If they add something like guild spvp we would probably get an influx of players much higher than the actual pvp population.
If you’re trying to say that PvP is casual and PvE isn’t…
That is exactly what I said.
casual =/= easy
casual = little to no time required to reach end game contentYou know that PvE in GW2 is the most casual among all games probably?
Also your reasoning counting PvP as casual because it’s easily accessable is weird, because PvP unlike PvE is about competitive not grind. There is no reason why it should be otherwise, and being easily accessible doesn’t make it casual. Grind has nothing with ‘hardcore’, which is usualy used as opposition to ‘casual’.You know that gw2 pvp is also super casual compared with almost every mmorpg? You dont need gear, you can pretty much copy paste builds and people learn to play in a few weeks.
Yes hardcore = grindy, long term goal
Pve in gw2 is braindead easy but still less casual than spvp. Is like comparing a slug and a turtle to see which one is slower. Both are slow but one is slower. The same way both pve and pvp are casual in this game.
dictionary for casual:
" Occurring at irregular or infrequent intervals; occasional:"
" Being without ceremony or formality; relaxed or informal:"I know lots of friends that log in play a few pvp matches and log out. Do you think this pvp is hardcore? I don’t think so
You know that the only PVP MMO which was GW1 would be casual compared to WoW if we use your definitions?
GW PvP is hardcore compared to other MMOs because you win due to dedication (skill) instead of gear etc (grind). If certain mode is easy to enter doesn’t mean it’s casual, we could call it casual if it’s easy to learn at competitive level. GW actualy is rewarding skill instead of time spent like hardcore PvP Esports should do.
If sPvP is so casual, then why Abjured is so dominating at NA?

Hey guys its okay to disagree with what he says, but I’m not sure if bullying is the way to go about it.
Telling him truth has nothing with bullying.

This same op also said that raids should not have good rewards, I wouldn’t expect any well-thought-out post from him.
Offtopic: Actualy I believe solo content should give the best reward, because people can’t be carried there.
Well, you don’t have to let the opposing side capture all the nodes, but one or two would be fine. If you win, then that’s great, but keep in mind that if you get the “Win as a Guardian” achievement, then any guardians on the opposing team would not get it. Be considerate of their feelings as well. Whoever wins, wins, whatever. And if you aren’t one of the classes with the achievement then what do you care anyways?
Dude, we really don’t care about dailies of our enemies. Like… really.
Anything that doesn’t go Svanir just to die. As long as team isn’t super stacked or filled with PvE heroes, it doesn’t really matters if people can play their classes.
Id rather have 4 Rangers who know what they are doing than 4 newbie cengis or celes.
Crush enemies, see them driven before you, hear lamentation of their women. Thats our etiquete in PvP… and only etiquete in PvP.

I’m sad. No Beastmaster traits revamp.
How can someone want to nerf Warriors… like… seriously?
Read it again and this time do not skip the first half of the warrior part.
I’ve.
You want to nerf support build…. which is imho exacly where support builds should be.
How can someone want to nerf Warriors… like… seriously?
I see Eles/Engis/Thieves each game, not Warriors.
Guild Wars 2 is an MMORPG that will attract only people, who are into RPG.
For the rest this game will appear as too complex.
Disagree.
You can sell GW2 as PvP game, which has nothing with other MMORPGs, since you can ignore PvE side of it completly and still compete. However to do so, GW2 needs some improvements like voice commands or team voice chat implemented to Arenas etc.
Isn’t OP a PUG as well? Nothing wrong with that but it seems to me that you are putting both PUGs and engies in a bad light.
Celestial eles are way bigger ahsswholez to fight against
I think cele has much higher skillcap, because bad d/d celes are just nothing but cannon fodder rushing in and dying meanlinglessly.
i have one of each class lvl 80, main thief d/p + SB, i burst warr but on 25% he become imune (6 seg with trait), then he heal 10-12k, block and stum, if he stum me my hp just desapir.
when i play with my warr i hit 26k+ with hammer + GS, just jump with earthquake (4k damage 3 seg stum +20% all damage) hundred blade(22k in 3seg), and all play in this area just die.
Zerker Warriors are melted in seconds by anything… in most cases you can just kite Warrior while his Stances are up and burst him after.
Report for boting.
Pure $$$ track would be awesome.
Anyone else notice more de-syncs where you can’t stomp someone?
Had no problems with stomping, however sometimes I can’t revive.
@Morwath
When something has no counterplay it means there’s no way deal with it. I can list off dozens of ways to deal with thief stealth options. You can feel there’s not enough counterplay to thief stealth, but it’s not uncounterable.
You can’t prevent Thief entering stealth. And once he enters it, you can’t track his high mobility abilities, you can only predict where he can be and where he will strike, but it doesn’t mean you will predict right, while you can hunt down any other class. This is huge advantage over any other roamer, because you can only guess where Thief is and where he is heading.
Thats what I meant by stealth having no counterplay, even if you can e.g. finish briefly stealthed Thief by AoEing his position.
did you ever think that those people playing thief maybe just prefer playing the class and happend to be good at it?
No offense to players, but imho really good players should be able to multiclass. So if players more often consider A better in role X than B and C. Thats probably not because they are better at A than B and C, but because tools of A are better in certain task they have to do.
Problem is Thief can’t be replaced by other class, because other ‘mobile zerkers’ won’t be able to be as mobile nor they will be able to disengage anytime they need to.
Another thing about Thief is since there is no counter play to stealth (except AoE when he stealths, which doesn’t work when Thief comes stealthed to ‘support’ friends in fights out of nowhere), Thief often won’t be as squishy as other Zerkers.
should i remind you on 3 bunkers, 2 necros comps?
Show me those in >current< meta, past before some nerfs to other classes etc has nothing with current situation. Whole argument of ‘Thiefs aren’t OP because some teams in old meta weren’t running them’ is silly when were discussin >current< meta, which is effect of some changes to other builds existing in the past.
and i would love someone to answer my question: if thieves are so OP why does nobody stack medi guards? those eat thieves for breakfast
Because thieves doesn’t have to 1v1, but 2v1 due to their superior mobility and ability to leave combat without any harm when they don’t want to fight. So if you keep in mind, you want to counter other 4 players, but not Thief which won’t fight vs you 1v1 anyway probably if your build can roll over it 1v1…
and yet there is not a single person out there that wants more than 1 thief on team… but it is fine to have multple wars, guards, engis, eles, necros, rangers even mesmers on same team~
Flawed logic is flawed…..
So would you rather have a full team of 5 bunker guardians, or 5 cele engis, or 5 power ranger, or 5 necros , etc etc?!
Sigh.
I would you like to watch a football game with 11 goalies, or 11 trainers, etc….. They are both vital yet you dont see european leagues asking for several of them…..
Thieves are prevalent in ALL teams, every single one of them, throughout the entire history of the game since release, unlike other classes, which had literally 0% in some competitions, namely elementalists.
edit: I can see Im not the one using the football analogy xD
Except he wasn’t talking about extremes of 5 duplicate professions.
Having 2-3 Thieves or Mesmers is
prettyextremely bad.Having 2-3 more stackable professions would be better. Usually when you get 3 Thieves, the other 2 aren’t people aren’t even able to stand on point, creating a fully dysfunctional comp.
Get 3 Engies/Warriors/Eles/Guardians/Rangers and you can say, ‘alright, these pickup players probably won’t mass suicide at mid.’
It’s because Thief/Mesmer fill different role than other classes. However it doesn’t mean Thief isn’t OP. Imho game shouldn’t be balanced around class stacking, players shouldn’t be punished for switching at the beginning of match so stacking of classes at certain MMR wouldn’t be issue, since ‘good’ players should be able to play more than one class.
Also if each single winning team in tournaments has Thief, then it proves there is something wrong with Thief if having it is necessary to win. While Mesmer is rarely played (compared to Thief) and Ranger is close to not be played at all. Keep in mind that ‘solo q aka ranked arena’ =/= competitive team play.
@inhearth: totally agree with you
yes thief is kitten…
broken evade spammability…stealth ( but it is even not the worst issue)
broken insta (read uncounterable without chance) gap closers
broken mobility…
broken damage in regards of their survivabilityMesmers are just as other squishies chained rapped by these ennemy they can even not run away.
What an epic failure anet seriously.
The funny thing is that thieves have never stopped complaining…
Being nerfed and nerfed again is not a reason to say thieves are underpowered…it can be a sign they were absurdly owerpowered.and yet there is not a single person out there that wants more than 1 thief on team… but it is fine to have multple wars, guards, engis, eles, necros, rangers even mesmers on same team~
Show me ESL in last month with stacked Rangers, Necros or Guards in winning team.
Pleeeeeaaaase.
(edited by Morwath.9817)
“burst damage against anything other than a Celestial or Cleric is too high especially when both classes are playing together”
Yeah, because 2 full glass cannon zerker builds shouldn’t deal so much damage.
Yes, they shouldn’t deal so much damage. Because in fact they aren’t such ‘glass cannons’ due to sick mobility and stealth. If you watched Abjured vs DoD yday, then you probably noticed that the only thing Abjured has to do was not dying because Magic Taker (or however A thief is called) was just blinking between points and obliterating everything in seconds.
Existence of such super high dps/burst class with superior mobility and stealth just means there is no reason to ‘glass canon’ builds to be played by any other classes in competitive play, because thief will just obliterate them in seconds and thats the point of article.
The Fix
Have a max game of 15 per week. It’s impossible to play more and get more points. The ladder will put everyone in place.
This would give 10h ques to everyone…
I would rather see something like: position on ladder based on winratio with minimum of XX games played. However it could discourage many people to play after ‘lucky’ winstreak and reaching minimum of those required games.

We need a Voice Game System like Tribes: Ascend
Shazbot!
That also would be awesome. But as GW2 uses way more keys than Tribes: Ascend, I don’t know if it would work well. I, for example, have no idea where I would map more 4 keys with easy access in my keyboard control setup. You need one key with each access, e.g. V.
You press V then menu pops, then next V is help and 1 is close. So by fast tapping V->V->1 would be ‘help close’.if i push V-V-1 i will do a double dodge roll and auto attack. lol
i have no problem reaching for the F1, F2, etc keys for pings. Because I don’t have to move my mouse to the mini map. because F1 would be help home, F2 help mid, F3 help far, F4 help where I am etc.
lol@deflaut.settings, anyway “vv1” was just example.

Thanks for your activity.
I see nothing wrong with this matchup….is your issue 2 of a couple classes on each team? Since when is 2 of a class a bad thing (besides 2 thieves). What do you want? 5 separate classes every match?
#NothingWrongWithThatMatchup
Keep in mind this is pug group vs pre kittening made so what is my issue here? is i apply for solo why i have to get this trash game after game?
In short if you iq is to low why pugs vs pre made so is still my issue here?
Because someone has to feed Premades. Working as intended.
The less Mesmers the better.
You already get 1 gem per win (26 silver for gem currently), since you get 30 silver.
it often takes me 30 seconds to load HoTM.
if we could somehow load directly back into the match, skipping HoTM altogether, it would make DC’s much less impactful on games.
I agree there. No idea why we’re entering HoTM before loading match.
What is the grace period? 30s? (Fair number)
Yes, it is 30 seconds.
Don’t you think that’s a bit too low? Keep in mind that when someone dcs during a game they have to load two maps (hotm and the PvP map)
I’m playing on a semitoaster and I’m fairly sure I can usually manage to get back into the game within ~20 seconds, but I know there are people with far worse machines than me. I’d recommend that you increase the period to a minute rather than 30 seconds.Technically you are loaded into the map after about 1-2 seconds. Just because it doesn’t look like you are there yet, you still are. You machine is loading the graphics still but your character is back in the match faster than it looks like. Only takes maybe 10-15 seconds to get back in. The ~20 seconds is just a visual thing for you.
And is waiting for authorization mail from Anet visual thing for me too?
Anyway 30 sec Grace is better than no Grace clearly.
what happens if someone gets a DC and is not comming back, but my team still wins the game?
If you still win, and the losing team doesn’t have deserters, you will receive credit for the win.
So… stomping enemy team and making them rage quit means we don’t win? Is that serious?:P
Why does ANet continue to push PVP
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/upcoming-guild-wars-2-player-vs-player-tournaments/
When most of us PVE or WvW?Just imagine how all of that PVP/ESport money could have spent on the content that matters to ANet’s actual base populace?
Because PvE is bad, boring and not competitive.
The leaderboard now rolls desertions into the losses column.
So. Lets say I win 500-100. But I get short DC after I come back.
Its counts as desertion, so win+lose, win or lose?
