you meant this year… right?
http://youtu.be/Jy7CcwnfUdU?t=13m25s
this is just to ask.. you know..As far as i know ther is november and december left right?
Right, so you’re jumping the gun
Arenanet did some improvement on this field to ease the pressure like providing daily achievement to complete the meta achievement. Carving 5 pumpkins is much more comfortable than killing 300 Aetherblades or 300 holos.
Agreed. I meant to make this point in my post and it slipped my mind. Adding them in dailies adds more choice about how you want to go about doing the meta and are generally more relaxed (the price you pay for the easier route being fewer Achieve points than someone doing all of them)
Please stop the champ trains. I want to kill whenever whatever.
Short answer : no.
Long answer : no because other players have the same right – and they can choose to organize and play whatever way they want. You’re free to try to kill champs and compete with the zerg.
This is exactly it.
You have kittens on both sides. You have people in the zerg who lose their minds if a champ is killed out of order (happens a lot). You also have people outside the zerg who purposely will kill champs for the sole purpose of screwing the order for the zerg (this also happens a lot – I have even seen people gloating in map chat that they did this numerous times)
Neither side is innocent here. And both are equally within their rights to play as they want. Learn to coexist.
Soloers – in QD and FG, there will be a zerg coming to xx champ. Plan accordingly.
Zerg trainers – there are other people out there. A champ may be dead when you get there. map chat the new wp, skip it and carry on.
Mostly anything I would say has been covered already, but to add to the consensus :
I don’t really care about the living story. The characters are shallow and as someone put it, more like episodes of He-Man or Ninja Turtles, with some baddie of the week or a returning one noone really cares about as they are no real threat. The temporary content is too much, too fast. Its basically farm achievement points as fast as you can. Feels like its being forced down my throat to farm achievement points before they disappear forever.
So, I just dont really care about it, keeping up with it, or doing it anymore. This sin’t a good thing from a MMO trying to put out new content to keep people interested.
What would make me more interested is a slower pace of the content and more real content, with lasting ramifications. A month-long turnaround on these stories would better suit them, IMO. With stories that actually affect the world. Its called Living World, but rarely feels like it affects the world or even has to do with the world at all……it feels more like a sideshow minigame to the main event/world.
Recently, the changes have been leaning more toward permanent changes, which is a direction I hope you continue in (Tequatl, new TA path remaining, etc..).
I’ve skimmed through some of the GW and GW2 lore on the wiki and other places and it is beyond me why the LW team is not tapping into this lore and stories (let alone the dragons themselves) for the Living World rather than inventing bad-guys of the week.
I think the living world is good idea on the whole. But what good is it to claim all this content is being put out when most of it is gone 2 weeks later and a large portion of the players don’t even care about it?
What’s next is up to you.
I play doing activities I want because I enjoy them. People can list suggestions all day long here and it all be stuff you dont like. You’ve obviously played the game a while and know what all is in it, so find the things you enjoy and do them.
If its simply the case of needing a carrot, just wait a little bit for Ascended armor.
Roman numerals are fine. Makes it easy to communicate traits choices to other people, rather than have to put up the name or describe the icon to someone.
A sensible ‘polish’ for these would be to stylize the Roman numeral smaller and put it in the top center of the trait button. An icon or picture could be below that and filling the rest of the button. It still looks fancy, but also has the convenience of the numerals.
I
This discussion is pointless and this thread just needs to die.
The people who want it reverted to easy mode or complaining about are upset about what is essential 10~35 silver from the guaranteed rare. I’m sorry you are that petty.
Meanwhile, I was just involved in killing Tequatl for the 2nd time in less than 24hours. I had a blast and the rewards from just this one encounter was more than I would have gotten from 3 or 4 of the easy-mode bosses. So yeah, it was worth it and I enjoyed the encounter as always. Had some hiccups, but the group in map chat all pulled together and we salvaged the encounter and beat it with some quick thinking and action by all involved – and this made it all the more fun. So much more exciting and more to do than being rooted auto attacking or just an occasional dodge. Its a hell of a good experience you all are missing out on simply because of being stuck in stubbornness and unwillingness to do anything outside your ‘safe zone’ all for the sake of the 35silver you lost.
Anyway, saying goodbye to this pointless, selfish, killjoy thread. And for those who enjoy Tequatl as much as I do…..see you in Sparkfly!!!
So you’re saying we should do content we don’t find rewarding? Thanks, that’s why I go to work. I don’t come onto guild wars 2 to do content I don’t like.
We’re getting closer to the real reason a lot of people don’t do it.
To be honest, if you don’t like it, don’t do it. Scaling won’t fix what you’re after or make it enjoyable for you. I don’t come to the content you enjoy and petition to have it changed to suit me. Because I understand some people may enjoy that which I don’t.
Like has been pointed out, there are 15-20+ other world bosses that can be done by people who share this want for that type of content. I don’t understand why when there are people doing the one thats like this and enjoy it, that it would be rallied against. If 0.25% of the population d this event, thats fine because the content that is Tequatl represents less than that as a percentage of the content, events and game as a whole. This minuscule percentage of the content does not need to be changed.
(edited by MrRuin.9740)
The only thing keeping anyone from doing or attempting Tequatl is their own stubborness, unwillingness and refusal to do so.
Tequatl was done by home servers before TTS. It was also done on pug Overflows. It is very possible to do this without TTS. It’s peoples own refusal to do anything that requires more than 20 people and some actual coordination that keeps them from doing it anymore.
Not even talking about the people posting here – but the servers have been babied and handheld for months with easy to tag world bosses. Shoot a dragon in the foot for 4mins and get a reward. Of course the majority of the population doesn’t go try it, is that really surprising given what they’ve had for content up to now?
It’s not that it can’t be done. That’s not the case at all. Many (that I’ve talked to) dont want to bother learning how to do it since they can spam other bosses without even paying attention in many cases.
And its really not that hard to do tequatl if people would take the time to learn it and what to do. Every server could do it many times a day, in less time than it takes to do the joke that is Claw Of Jormag. Is the content too hard or the playerbase to weened on hand-it-out easy content already?
In the case of Karka Queen……how hard is it that really to do? Its not. But when my server attempts it….they just want to stand and root themselves and auto attack. Even after trying many times to give instruction, tjhats what they do. Because thats what they’re used to. Its the same thing for Tequatl. And thats why its not done on main servers. That’s why TTS exists. Not because the content is too hard. TTS just brings together the people who will take the time to learn what to do and when.
Same thing for Karka Queen. Killed daily on your server? If I’m not there when a group large enough to do it is there, I’m SoL. Me and 5 friends can’t do it. Scale it way down ASAP pls. My server doesn’t do it daily. Or ever. I have to guest to get it. I am horrifyingly inconvenienced. So, you are okay with one event that suits you and your server. But the fact I would have to guest and try to be there when your server is actually doing it is fine? Bit Hypocritical. But as long as it suits you, I suppose.
Now you’re inconvenienced because your server doesn’t do Tequatl, when they in fact could, and its an uproar.
Also, do you guys forget Tequatl was being done pre-TTS? And it was being done well before ANet anticipated it would. By pugs and on main servers. Its not impossible, nor their fault people don’t learn it and show up. We already proved it can and was done many times pre-TTS.
So if we’re using attendance numbers…..why aren’t you all also crying about Taidha Covington? Or Fire Shaman? These arent done all that often. Taidha doesn’t scale right, I’ve been there with a smaller zerg and we couldnt kill her in time. Fire Shaman is usually up for hours and hours and noone touches him. My guess is because it takes more than 3 mins and you have to actually move.
Or how about the Karka Queen? Tequatl is getting killed many times over more than the Karka Queen.
If you’re going to fight for something based on these numbers…..there’s alot more you should add to the list. Karka Queen being tops since that would be done by far fewer than Tequatl.
If you make Tequatl scale for 20 people, people will start yelling at you for showing up if it scales the encounter to make it harder.
I tried explaining this, but it seems to not matter or goes misunderstood. This is why pouring the resources into scaling it would be useless. You’d end up with at least twice this many people there hoping it was downscaled. So you’re right back to square one.
And if the difficulty is scaled the same down to less people, whats the difference if you do it with 50 people or 100? Its the same difficulty….you still have to have all these pugs coordinated and doing what they’re supposed to do on turrets and defenses
(edited by MrRuin.9740)
So much text for the simple reason that you do not understand the wort “scaling”?
With proper scaling, the content will be as hard for 20 people as it is for 100 people right now. And it will be as difficult for 100 people like it is right now for 100 people.
Scaling.
And you don’t understand why there won’t ever be just 20 people at Tequatl if this were to come into effect. You still wouldn’t get what you wanted.
I understand the word scaling. I also understand how it works and why the encounter wouldn’t be the same one in terms of difficulty when scaled down. Many bosses are easier with fewer people in the group….because it tries to scale down to the amount of people there. But they end up having a much easier time.
Anyway the argument is pointless. Tequatl is dying many times a day and was an answer to the call for harder content. Anet answered and people are doing it. Just not on your terms. Why should they bother changing it when its being done by the people who wanted it.
You want hard content, go dungeoneering. Open world content will get adjusted. What is the problem if the encounter get scaled for 20 people. You can still do it with 100 with the same difficulty as it is right now.
If you want easy bosses, stick to the champ train in Queensdale. See how that attitude swings both ways? Want to know the problem with is scaling to 20 people? Read back through other posts I made in this topic. It wont be 20 people at Tequatl.
Whats the problem with leaving something in open world thats actually a challenge? When its one boss out of the very many you can farm for rewards. Because everyone can’t do it? Wrong. Everyone can do it. How has been pointed out in this thread. Everyone doesnt want to do it or accept the ways its being done. Many have and its a truly fun experience for us. But you don’t like it or the method, so to hell with us.
Taking 5 people through a dungeons/fractals is nowhere near the same experience as what happens at Tequatl. There is very little else that compares to what happens at Tequatl. Even temple events aren’t quite the same, though they are probably the closest thing you could compare to.
You don’t like dungeons? You forfeit those skins by not going.
You don’t like fractals? You forfeit those skins and methods of obtaining Acended rings and backpieces by not going.
You don’t like WvW? You forfeit the badges and achievements by not going.
You don’t like Tequatl? Its no different – you forfeit the skins and little chance at a weapon by not going.
Why is it fair when you have all these other easy bosses that drop you a guaranteed rare on top of other loot that you can hit all day long, and there’s one you don’t care for, that you get to campaign to take it away because you don’t like it?
I don’t like the stand-there world bosses – so I forfeit the easy loot. And I don’t come here wanting to take the content away from you that you enjoy.
The only way I would be in favor of an easy mode Tequatl is to strip the Sunless weapons and reduce the amount of reward you get for doing it in easy mode to the same as the other easy world bosses. Leave the Sunless weapons and more rewards for the hard mode. If you want it easy, you should get an appropriate reward. And it is easy to say that because nothing Tequatl drops is a statistical advantage. There’s nothing stat-wise or gameplay altering that it drops that can’t be had in other ways.
So why? Just because you don’t want to do it doesn’t mean you should get the same reward for less effort……that’s the entitlement inherent to most MMO playerbases.
(edited by MrRuin.9740)
But this MMOs was promoted for people that do not like MMOs. Yet you list all the things that a classical MMO offers and tell people lazy, when they do not want to do it.
Are you serious? Calling people lazy? For what they were told to expect? Dear heavens.
No….see the this game was touted as “play as you want to”. I, and others, want to play in challenging content that takes coordination with a large group of people. Those of you who want it easy and events you can just pop into have tons of that type of content in game and can play how you want. Those of us who want challenging content have very few things with which to participate.
By nerfing Tequatl, you are effectively saying you want to play as you want and to hell with those of us who want to play this way. Tequatl should remain as he is as an option for those who want this kind of content, so we can play as we want.
Tequatl as a farming source for Ascended gear BiS drops is a joke. The drop rate is not high and weapons with the same stats are available through other, far, far easier means. I am not farming Tequatl for Ascended drops. I am doing it becuase I enjoy the content and it allows me to play as I want. I don’t like the easy world bosses like Shadow Behemoth, Frozen Maw, or even Shatterer who is nothing but a hide behind a rock and shoot his foot battle and I don’t do them all that often. I don’t come crying to every easy world boss and demand that content be taken from you because its not what I want. If you want that, its available.
As it is now, both easy and hard is open to whoever wants to participate in either. What would be wrong is forcing people to always do one or the other.
Not doing Tequatl is not hindering anyones game as Ascended is available in other easier ways. That argument is moot. All you miss out on is skins which are not game-altering.
This thread is a testament to the laziness and entitlement of MMO players:
Read through it all. Its a list of everything players think they shouldn’t have to do. meanwhile theres a lot of people who are doing Tequatl daily and getting the rewards and having fun doing it. Tequatl is one of the most fun events to do atm.
If it was impossible and noone was doing it…I might agree with you people. But hundreds of people are doing it daily. Many people enjoy it and think its a fun event.
You have 10+ other easy mode world bosses……..you’re losing nothing by not doing Tequatl. Anything he could drop in terms of stats can be had anywhere else. So skip it and forget about it. Those of us willing to do it will continue to do so.
Its a sad topic on an MMO forum when it’s full of crying about having to interact with others in a coordinated effort. Especially when on the same page as this topic is one about Legendaries not being "legendary’ and some things should be challenging to get and make you earn them. Well guess what? We can’t have that kind of content and this topic illustrates why. Too many people cry about having to do anything more than the absolute bare minimum for reward. So you end up with Legendaries that can be bought, Ascended weapons that are a joke to just grind out without doing anything real and temporary content that amounts to fetch and kill missions because noone will do anything beyond the absolute least they have to. Sunless skins as a reward that shows you took the time to kill Tequatl probably many times? No…can’t have that, dumb it down so everyone can have those skins and in 2 months we can all complain about lame it is there’s nothing to earn.
And Kaiyanwan – tequatl doesn’t provide a source for farming Ascended. Get your facts straight. Yes he does have a chance to drop something, but in that time it takes you to get a Sunless weapon, you will likely have farmed out multiple Ascended weapons via the mindless way. Saying Tequatl is the only major source of a 10% power jump is a joke and only shows you are grasping for a reason to hate Tequatl or don’t know how Ascended weapons work.
(edited by MrRuin.9740)
I’d just like to be able to salvage them. Ideally 20ish of the common mats, with a chance for a rarer/higher quality mat.
It didn’t work and really stands as a monument to why you can’t have challenging world bosses.
This topic stands as to why you can’t have challenging world bosses. People are unwilling to go out of their way to actually do something. We’re talking quite literally about pushing 2 or 3 clicks on the mouse to switch rep to TTS and guest as being an enormous procedural event that is destroying peoples lives in an MMO.
You’re making a bigger deal about it than it really is……and very hard to take seriously as you contradict yourself. Really thinking this is a troll topic.
Considering your “solutions” are worse than the so-called problem – Instancing does nothing but add more “hoops” to jump through. Ones imposed directly by Anet. Since the requirements of an instanced Tequatl would be steeper (needing a party, needing a large guild that requires repping). Scaling it does nothing as I already pointed out.
The only “hoop” now is barely that and its not imposed by Anet. It was a community solution.
EDIT
Telecinision snuck in there. With a good suggestion. That would be taking what the community has done and turning it into a game mechanic. The boss itself does not need to be changed as it is doable. It does not need a nerf.
An addition like what was just suggested above me would be an improvement, but still I bet people would even have a problem with that as Tequatl is no longer the tag-dead-in-a-few-mins joke of a boss he once was.
(edited by MrRuin.9740)
Scaling would fix nothing. If they made it scale down and a smaller group beat it and word gets around, then what happens? People flock to it hoping to be in a small enough group to kill it. Oh look it scaled back up because all these people want easy-mode and not enough will leave to scale it back down. And yer back to square one.
The only way to fix it the way you want it is to instance it….which then becomes worse than it is now as you would need to be partied or in the case of guild instance have to be in a guild big enough to do it.
Its a world boss dragon lieutenant. Its supposed to be fracking hard. Its supposed to bring the population together in an effort to bring it down. It’s not like noone is ever killing it. Its not impossible.
A part of the community found a way to do it. Be a part of the community and kill it or stand alone and cry about it.
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with having a boss encounter thats supposed to be hard needing something like what TTS has done. Look how many people it brought together in finding a way to kill it regularly.
Hmmm…..a huge, difficult open world encounter that brings the population together in an effort to do, across multiple servers……sounds like what should be in an MMO.
Some people seem to think that farming Legendary weapons making them legendary.
Worse than that, some people think it’s their business what other people spend the money they earned on.
If someone has the $600 or whatever it costs as disposable income to buy one and does so……good for them. I don’t care either way as it doesn’t affect me in way at all.Actually it does in fact affect you, it puts more money into development of the game =P
Touche lol.
Indirectly in that way, it does ;p
Directly affecting me or my day-to-day gameplay experience, it does not.
Some people seem to think that farming Legendary weapons making them legendary.
Worse than that, some people think it’s their business what other people spend the money they earned on.
If someone has the $600 or whatever it costs as disposable income to buy one and does so……good for them. I don’t care either way as it doesn’t affect me in way at all.
I think you have totally missed the part where I quote (In-game) and therefore must consider your reply incorrect at this time currently.
No, I didn’t miss that part. It implies you value virtual effort (in game) over real effort (in real life). It implies that because someone has only a few hours a week to play that they don’t deserve it, if they buy it with money from their real life job because the effort of sitting in front of a computer and grinding them out is more important and deserving. Which, even as an implication, is sad.
Some people have time, some people have money. Both have the means to acquire in game items and rightfully so, as neither extreme has an advantage over the other. People with lots of free time can grind legendaries…..people with lots of money can buy them.
Paying $600+ USD for a virtual item that instantly becomes valueless the moment you leave/stop playing/servers shut down in Guild Wars 2.
I don’t call that winning.
I call that a bad investment.
If you’re willing to throw away money that easily. Give it to me. I assure it will be better spent.
This is entirely your opinion. To me, spending $400 on a PS4 that will be worth $60 in a few years is a bad investment. Spending $60,000 on a new car to get groceries in is a bad investment. That’s just my opinion and something i wouldn’t do. What do I care what other people do with their own money that they earn?
Would I spend $600 for a legendary? No. I’m also not in any position to judge people who would. I’m sure I buy lots that other people deem worthless and a waste. Give the money to you? It’s all well and good to say you’d spend it responsibly here on some forums behind an anonymous post, but even then what you might spend it on might be worthless and a waste to others.
I would love to see this attitude in real life. Walk up to someone you don’t know and tell them what they just bought is a waste to you and they should give the money to you.
Get down off your high horse. Its not your money. It’s theirs. They can do whatever the hell they want with it. If they like seeing a shiny weapon, then that’s theirs to do.
I agree that if they want to buy a Legendary Weapon with their money then that’s fine by me but at the same it does make you question if someone is rich enough to do so and have put 0 effort into it (in-game) then theoretically there is nothing legendary about it
What if someone works 60 hours a week, has a lot of disposable income and buys a Legendary because he does not have the time to grind it? So because of this its ok to say he has put 0 effort into it?
Meanwhile if someone lazy who has no job, sitting on and milking welfare spends 60+ hours a week grinding mobs in a game should be considered “Legendary”? Because they put more effort into a game than real life?
Sorry, IMO guy 1 with the job deserves it more.
b) you don’t have anything better to do with your time (which is really really sad).
Hi Kettle, let me introduce you to Pot
(edited by MrRuin.9740)
Ignore the people in this thread telling you to make other classes for this reason or that.
I have 5 level 80’s and not one of them has been hindered in a group, kicked from a group or been any easier or harder to get into stuff. The posts here are kind of extreme situations, IMO. People will of course have their biases…but that’s all they are. I have my own biases towards the classes I have.
Roll the class that interests you most and try it yourself. You have 5 free character slots and levelling is pretty easy, give a few classes a shot. You’ll find the ones that fit with how you like to play.
Most importantly – enjoy yourself out there =)
I’ve been for and against some changes to this game. I’ve been against the Living Story temporary content, the zerg content and recently added vertical progression. I see no problem in voicing an opinion and trying to help be a part of the process of steering the game in a good direction (while that direction and definition of good is open to perception – not the point here).
Coming from that standpoint……let’s drop the kitten Manifesto. GW2 is an MMO and its going to change based on is playerbase. Clinging to this this and holding it in an almost religious light helps noone. Stop being a grudge holding spouse ready to throw something someone said back in their face on a moments notice 5 years later.
If this is the best you have up to offer as constructive feedback, then the game is just as kittened. What should properly happen is feedback as to what they’ve changed, instead of personal attacks and this kitten ed Manifesto being whipped out everytime they do something.
I hope if there’s one thing Anet learned from this….its to never have a Manifesto as it’s stated intentions will be used against you for years and year to come if you don’t comply with it to each and every persons different interpretations of the words in it.
This game doesnt always allow for much typing chatter. Other MMO’s, in a trinity type role, I’ve found it easy to type and chat. From either being rooted or not having any reason to move at bosses and only having to hit skill buttons.
My guild has its peak busy times and its slow times, as any would through the day. During the slow times, I’ve seen questions go unanswered for a long time in Guild chat. Why haven’t I answered? Because taking the time to do so would in all likelihood result in my death. Because I’m in a spot where I need to keep moving and dodging.
Yes, I will answer in chat when I have a breather and chance to do, if someone else hasn’t by then. Dead guild chats doesn’t always mean the guild is dead or purposely ignoring anyone or that noone wants to chat. It could also mean the guild is busy and people are unable to type out a conversation.
I believe this is why many guilds try to get people on voice chats of some kind, seemingly moreso than in other MMO’s, due to the nature of the game.
Even worse to ‘solving" a problem that doesn’t exist, if offering a solution that is worse than the problem you claim is there.
Isn’t it contradictory to force people into defensive builds due to limited build options?
Isn’t that worse than what you’re claiming?
Noone forces anyone to wear full berserker due to limited available sets. As has been said in this topic, its a mindset and it has rewards for someone who is able to use it. Someone who doesn’t pays the price with being dead. Its fine as it is.
GW2 must have the most self-entitled playerbase.
Reading through this topic is like reading 3 pages of complaints from an over-privileged, spoiled brat who is upset because his Christmas present wasn’t quite literally given to him on a silver platter.
If that’s the only thing you do? No of course not.
Are you really expecting to max out on everything in the game, and get the next step up of gear without putting any effort in at all? Without playing the game?
Doing ANYTHING ELSE in the game will get you globs of ecto and T6 mats, are you expecting to sit in LA and just have materials flow into your collection?
Do you and others want to do nothing in the game and be rewarded?
Actually I’d rather be rewarded for real effort. I’d much rather be able to gain tokens for running fractals to buy it with. The higher the fractals, the faster you earn it.
You’re right about itm though. It’s easy. Its dumb easy. I have enough mats to make 3 Ascended weapons and have yet to make 1. My weaponsmith is at 470 and have the mats and assets to level that to 500, but haven’t bothered. Why? Not for lack of trying, but for lack of caring. What moron can’t stand in front of a crafting station and press a button?
You can sit there and say people complaining about Ascended implementation wanting something for nothing, but as I see it, it something for nothing now. I’d rather have something I can actually do something for besides run the same farm route and press a crafting button.
Should it be limited to fractals only IMO? No, keep the crafting method, but add something else where I can actually do something besides swing a pickaxe to get this stuff.
(edited by MrRuin.9740)
It’s the treadmill of GW2.
Some MMO’s have gear treadmills, or gold/coin grinds…..GW2 has an AP/back skin/mini treadmill. That’s all it amounts to. Grind new achieves every 2 weeks for a back skin or mini.
Personally, alot of the time I don’t do them at all. It doesnt even make the world dynamic as some suggest, as the world is unaffected by it in most cases. Dynamic implies a changing world. Did we have an election? Look how the world has changed because of who we voted for. Look at how the world was affected by the various paper-thin badguys that noone cares about. It’s almost as if none of the Living Story ever even happened.
If there was some lasting impact, maybe I could see this argument. As it stands now, I cannot.
If it’s not affecting you or the game in any way, why do you care how other people play or what they do?
This is like complaining and reporting people for playing basketball with their own different rules on their own court, on their own time because you deem it wrong.
gasp other people are enjoying the game in ways that I don’t agree are fun. Quick! Call the fun police!
Semantics. They are “mine” in the sense that as long as I am an active member of the game, I own those items. In the context of the game.
It’s not semantics. You don’t have any assets. Everything is owned by ArenaNet. If they want to ban you and take “your” stuff away, it’s their right to do so. We all agreed to the ToS.
Of course ArenaNet isn’t in the practice of wildly banning people for no good reason. If you get banned, it’s in all likelihood your own fault. If you’re so insecure that you can’t control yourself from being banned from either direct action or subtly hidden ways, then mail all your stuff to someone elses account or use guild bank.

WRONG,
The time you waste in the game can be used to make Currency in real life and then convert that into ingame Currency. The point is that you are wasting your time to make Currency either ingame or real life.
If you think my point of view is wrong then go to LA and type in chat says “I got my Racial armor for free!!!”
Umm, no. All you’ve done is convert one virtual worthless currency into another. Gems are not real currency, they are just yet another virtual currency. The method of obtaining them can be free (in-game conversion) or can actually cost (buying with real money). So again, everything is free unless you charge.
Until you can withdraw Gems into real money currency, its all just conversions of virtual currency that has zero value in any way, shape, or form besides the virtual world of GW2.
if i farm mats, its free.
If i farm gold then buy something, its free.
If I farm gold then convert to gems, then buy something from the boutique, guess what? Its free.
None of it has cost me anything besides the time I spent enjoying leisure time in a game. It’s all free.
Champ farm in Queensdale. Seriously, if I’m there for more than 1 hour, I’ll get at least 7 rare item drops and I’ve gotten 2 exotics from farming for about 2 hours. Add in the dragon bosses and you’ve got yourself over 11 rares and lots o money.
Make sure you’re level 80 before doing this tho, because you won’t get the nice tier 6 mats farming on a level 60
No, just no.
The lame Queensdale train is only good for Karma, levelling and/or doing monthly events. If you are 80 and want to make gold, you should not be in this train, IMO. You should be in Frostgorge Sound. Both trains require as much effort as pushing 1, have the same amount of wp’s used and equal the same amount of fun as a grind train can offer. I don’t see why you would by choice run the less-profitable one. Much less recommend anyone else to, unless for the reasons above.
Do the Frostgorge Champ train if you want to make gold. It is always going on, on quite a few servers, if not your own. You get better mats more often, as all the champ bags are exotic. Queensdale ones are not. I’ve run both trains quite a bit, and the income from Frostgorge is noticably much more profitable.
Sell the mats you don’t need and roll in the gold.

Time isn’t money. The currency in game isn’t real. None of it is ‘profit’. It can’t be translated to real money.
If you farm nodes, if you farm fractals, if you farm dungeons, if you run champ trains for gold, if you do anything besides charge real money to convert to gems to buy what you want, it is free.
Any method other than charging is free. You do not make any real monetary currency doing any of these methods in the game. It is all free.

Grow up.
I have two characters with a full set of ascended trinkets solely attained through daily and monthly achievements. I’m starting on my third and the fact is simply being able to switch them between characters until I can get a permanent set would be extremely convenient, and besides being difficult and elitist, there’s no reason this shouldn’t be an option, especially with ANet’s whole philosophy about playing how we want.
They have the option for people who want to do the minimalistic approach. Laurels. And you’re using that method. Whats the problem?
They also have alternative methods to obtain said gear faster, which speed up the process, you have opted not to do this, but are still getting what you want via laurels, just takes longer. Again, whats the problem?
The problem is you don’t want to do the alternative method but want to be rewarded the same as people who do.

Time should not equal power. Having a lot of free time should not give you bigger numbers. Having other interests or obligations should not result in a stat penalty. People with excessive free time have enough advantages already, such as having more time to practice and experiment with builds.
The alternative methods do not require a lot of time. They require doing something.
Fractals level 10 is about an hour on average, a day. At level 10, runs I do are 45mins – 1hour15mins, depending on whats rolled for fractals. I don’t do elitist groups. This is just pugs from the LFG tool.
Guild missions is once a week for a commendation. Bounty hunt takes all of 10mins for a guild doing it right. Guild rush is at max 20 or 30mins, I forget the time limit exactly. If you only do these 2, thats 3 commendations a week or 1 month for an earring. Do the other missions and it cuts that month down a lot. I would find it hard to believe anyone doesn’t have this much time in a week to do at least 1 or 2 of the missions.
Dailies at max could be stretched out to an hour a day.
So…..you don’t have an hour to spare to run fractals, ever? How is that a huge time advantage? When running fractals, alot of the time a lot of your dailies will either get done, or a bunch of them will be in high percetange to being done. So really, its better time management as your earning relics and also laurels at the same time.
Its not time equalling bigger numbers. Its effort in actually doing something for those numbers faster. If you want to do the bare minimum dailies and not even try to do faster methods, then you should wait for those bigger numbers.
Or even only running fractals on the weekends is 2 prestine relics for saturday and sunday. Just a couple or few times a week. It’ll be a month+/- getting the ring, sure, but in that time you also get laurels, so in a month you’d get 2 rings instead of 1. Noone says you have to do it every day.
Use whats available to you to your advantage rather than try to have the system tailored to your own specific needs.
If fractals or guild missions were affairs that took hours and hours each time and required multiple grinding runs a day, I might agree with you on this, but they’re not. Between the two of them it amounts to a few hours a week, depending how many days you feel like doing fractals.
You have the choice. Get them faster using methods provided or get them slower doing the absolute bare minimum. Either way everyone ends up with the same numbers. You are not being deprived of them. You just get them at a slower pace.
And thats one character. If you have the time to play alts, level and gear them, you have time to earn this stuff faster. And if you’re not playing them in fractals, whats the friggin rush anyway since you don’t need the Agony Resistance these provide since that is the biggest reason to even have them.
despite their promise you are still forced to grind fractals to get the material for the ascended backpiece. mind boggling.
You can get an Ascended backpiece using only 1 Vial of Condensed Mists Essence. Run low level fractals until you get this and thats all you need from fractals. Use one of the recipes to make a Quiver or Book Ascended back piece. There you go, ascended stats on a backpiece.
Oh, the fractals backpiece skin? Why should you have the skin handed to you?
It, and all other fractals skins, should remain exclusive to fractals and the people willing to go get them.
The system is perfectly fine as it is. ANet want people to spread out their focus in the game and refusing to do guild missions and Fractals is your choice. It takes time but I have 6 characters with full ascended trinkets now. You clearly want everything served to you on a silver platter.
I agree with this. You have multiple methods to obtain these. Its your choice to not do them, knowing those methods cut a hugely significant time off what you calculate for total time acquiring these.
If you’re not willing to pay the price in ‘difficulty’ for getting these sooner, then the price you’ll pay is time and so you’ll have to wait for laurels. As it should be.
Some of the problems have very easy solutions.
just let people sell it to npc for 1-2 coppers and problem should be solved
This would be an adequate solution for most, I would think. Then at least they’re not just trashing it and still getting something out of it, however minimal it might be.
But seeing how every high fotm lvl player still has plenty of useless rings…
And this one has an easy solution too. There’s no reason Ascended gear can’t be salvaged for Ascended materials now. Like into Empyreal, Dragonite or Bloodstone with a chance for the refined versions of each, or a chance of one of the time gated mats and a very slim chance for a Vision Crystal or anything long these lines. This would go with the above mentioned solution of being able to NPC the lower common mats.
I know I’d salvage my useless rings if they had a chance to give me a decent Ascended mat.
No. I don’t understand the purpose of guilds and why I would want to join a formal organization complete with a hierarchy to play a computer game . Guilds can’t do anything a friends list can’t do. In addition, I have full control over who’s on my friends list, but zero control over who the guild’s recruiting (unless I am the leader, of course).
You may have control over who’s on your friend list, but you have zero control who puts you on their friend list and can see when you logon, logoff, where you are……
You are right and wrong on what a guild can and can’t do that friends can’t. Unless you have a mega friendlist, you won’t be organizing Karka Queen, Tequatl on an overflow, Balthazar events, etc… Yes, you can join in and do it with people without being in the guild, but the organization that starts it? Usually a guild. So in these cases you didn’t need to join the guild, but you’re still leeching from the guild’s organization to get it done.
And of course Guild Missions. Ours do them 3 times a week. Good rewards, good times.
Plus the 24/7 stat bonuses from representing a guild (provided the guild enables them). I don’t think your friends list can do that either.
I don’t understand where you’re coming from with the whole hierarchy bit. Yeah there’s ranks, but I’ve yet to be in a guild thats like a Military scenario you seem to paint. Just people talking and doing things together.
Did not know they rotated, if they rotate it’s fine… I can wait…. how often do they rotate?
Once a week, every friday evening.
This is what? The 3rd topic started about this in 3 days? If you watch the rotation, you can get it pretty easy. Especially if you can go in on Friday evening right after reset, I’ve found. Servers are all concentrated on StoneMist Castle and you can waltz around your borderland getting your stuff done. Then its just a matter of pressing “b” every once in a while to see if your server has control of StoneMist (the only castle icon, so its easy to tell). When they do, pop in, get the pois, sp and vista in the Castle. Bam. Done.
Ascended =/= Legendary
Same stats, they just look different.
Same for exotic a couple months ago. Now Exotic is 2nd best.
Eye-candy aside (which personally, I don’t like the look of most Legendary) Legendary is arguably better than Ascended as you can change stats and more importantly is that it’s future-proof against any new tiers in the future – which noone can guarantee won’t happen.
Do you have any idea how underused these low level maps are when there is no content there for higher level characters to utilize? The maps are DEAD. The people who complain about champ farms are the same who complain about how dead maps are, when there is no content for higher level characters to return to that map for.
This is true…..except for the map in question. Queensdale is always populated. It was long before champ trains, due to the commonly popping events especially around Vale Waypoint. Now if we were talking Caladan Forest or Plains Of Ashford, then you’d have a valid point. If there’s going to be trains on one low level map, the others should have them too to spread these around instead on condensing even more into Queensdale. You’d swear the way some people play, Queensdale is the only map in the game.
A lot of people would say they don’t want to PvE to get the weapon either, door swings both ways.
And they have every right to say that, and ask for PvP/WvW specific legendary crafting paths.
Except you dont see that very often. It almost always a one-way complaint, which says something in of itself.
What Galtrix said. If they are truly concerned about farming they should go somewhere more efficient, like Frostgorge.
But also they don’t own the map. Do what you want. If the champs up and there’s enough of you to do it…then do it.
Okay. I don’t care if you like WvW. WvW is fun for you. Sweet. Enjoy. It’s not fun for me and never will be. I don’t like CoD either.
Suck it up? Okay. For equality sake, when you dungeon or do PvE, do so naked and with a level 10 white weapon. When you are about to reach your goal – there is a 50% chance you will be killed for no reason, you’ll just drop dead, and have to start over from the furthest point from the goal. There, now it’s 100% totally fair.
Please enjoy.
And I don’t even want a Legendary at this point, I want map completion. Why is WvW part of map completion when sPvP and Dungeons aren’t and once a year event POIs aren’t? Are dungeon tokens parts of map completion?
I don’t like WvW all that much. I am a PvE player 95% of the time. And I have map completion.
I could run a dungeon in full Exotic/Ascended and still have a 50% to die, given the dungeon and boss mechanics. So that’s kind of moot.
One point I do agree on is that dungeon and areas like Southsun should be part of the map complete too, as well as keeping WvW as part of it.
sPVP, no because it is a seperate entity. You have different traits, different weapons, different gear.
plenty ? you mean 3 well ok maybe 5 ? I never finde more then 5 non “elite” groups scattered around the LFG system and even that is rare.
and its getting worse I slowly cant get into dungeons if its not me who make it lol
btw is this thing is cross server or not ? il hope its not and it will be.btw whats up with this LFG path selling ? like if they can solo the dungeon without a group lol…….
Well, I don’t know what to tell you. I am having no problems finding groups to do the things I want. And I avoid speed running and elitist groups. I also know how to to post my own LFG if there’s none currently looking for more. Whats wrong with starting your own if there’s none up at the time? Its not like its work. Post it and leave it. People auto-join. And in doing so you’re helping against the problem you are claiming is rampant, by adding to the listings of non-elitist.
Besides, the point you are trying to make is invalid to the question at hand. The LFG tool works. And it’s convenient. That was the question being asked.
The elitist groups you speak of and path selling were existent long before the LFG tool and therefore have nothing to do with it. gw2lfg.com long served as the go-to for groups before the tool and it also has a lot of elitist and speed running groups, yet no one claims that site has a problem because of the people using it. The site itself works as intended, as does the LFG tool.
