no matter what I am doing I always feel like I should be earning money. Anything that is not earning money feels like a waste of time. Every post level-80 reward in the game is tied to money.

And what do you do in an RPG? You earn rewards slowly over time. It’s a hallmark of the genre.

I have fun. I do things with my guild. I go into WvW. I PvP. I run fractals. I do Tequatl. I help people out with stuff they’re doing. I get rewards for doing this stuff. Usually nothing extravagant because the fun in the activities I choose to do is why I play and what I do. If I get something real nice for doing these things, its a bonus, not the sole reason I do them.

I agree. But every post level-80 reward in the game is tied to money. Skins are tied to money. You can buy things in the shop with money (transmutation crystals, for example). Reaching level 500 crafting costs absurd money. You can level alts faster with money.

btw, no need to be a snarky.

All fluff. I don’t need any of that. Some of it I get for looks just because I have the coin laying around from otherwise playing. But otherwise, none of it is required or needed at all. Even ascended gear, while a boost, isn’t necessary for any content, tho of course Ascended provides the old gear-grind endgame some people are used to – the grind to BiS.
There’s lots to do….for fun. If your focused on big reward and monetary gain, then yeah this game lacks that kind of endgame, especially where the money you can grind doesn’t do much beyond fluff. Even Legendary are fluff as you can get the same stats on weapons that cost far less.

I think, for me, one frustrating thing about end-game in GW2 is no matter what I am doing I always feel like I should be earning money. Anything that is not earning money feels like a waste of time.

Why?
Who cares about money? Get enough to get your gear..then who cares? It serves little purpose other than to brag once you’re geared. Everything else is luxury fluff.
I play “endgame” as I want. Changes day to day. WvW, tequatl, fractals, PvP….I’ll do whatever I feel like. Money does add up as I do these things, and I have nothing to spend it on that I even want.
I work all week for money at my job. I’d rather play the game and enjoy myself rather than have a 2nd job.

Wow, if there was ever a topic for how lazy and spoiled the current generation of gamers is, this is it.
This game hands you exp for doing everything except blowing your nose. Reaching max level is fast and incredibly easy. You can do so with no effort nor coin spent. Why don’t we just make the max level 10?
I leveled a character to 40 buying gear once at level 20 running in a WvW zerg. It was so stressful just running and standing in circles. Seriously….how much easier do we want it to be?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Because I don’t like Legendary weapons and I’m not working towards any of them anyway, so a precursor drop would be nothing more than a rather large gold boost for me when I sell it.
So I guess I may as well keep playing and oh, I dunno, enjoy the parts of the game that I do partake in.

What's to happen with the Ascended Backpiece?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

MrRuin.9740

So, the timing for this update is horrible for me. I just now have enough of everything to make the final version glowy backpiece.
With the removal of the Infused versions of trinkets, is there going to be a step removed in making the glowy version, since the beta step is now completely pointless other than to change the name to Beta. I don’t want to waste 500 Ectoplasms if it’s imminently going to change or if there will there be a new recipe to make it.
I’m sitting right now at the first version ascended (prototype) with everything make the beta and then the final.
These update previews aren’t always forthcoming and it’s frustrating when you’ve been working on something and its about to change, with no forthcoming information and all I can do is wait and hope for the best.
Something about this in the preview about whats going to happen to these would be nice.

EDIT
Or am I reading it incorrectly? Is the Infused version of trinkets going to have a 2nd Infusion slot for Agony only, in which case the Beta stage would simply be adding the 2nd infusion slot?

Wow Ill take whatever globs you dont use.

Please don’t complain that you have too many of these.

I cant seem to get my hand on enough globs…every black lion salvage kit that I use on an 80 rare seems to yield 1 or no globs. Im broke.

You’re confused about what globs he’s talking about. He’s talking about Globs of Coagulated Mists Essence, which are drops in Fractals.

Fractal levels above 30 to be reset?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

MrRuin.9740

This game keeps getting dumbed down. They removed all incentive to go beyond level 10.
I got myself to higher level fractals to get the exclusive skins. That was part of their appeal, they were exclusive to running harder content and thus made the skins rarer. Now anybody running 10 can get the same thing.

I agree they should have added gold and whatever to entice people to do fractals, but the skins should have been bumped to requiring 30+ to get them as incentive to do harder ones. The useless tonic and a rune/sigil I will never use is a joke reward for doing harder content. They’re handing out more doing less.

With the adding of the Tower of Terror, Anet made a pretty cool area for farming, but didn’t add enough reward incentive to direct people away from champ trains and the new Dolyak farm in cursed shore. After about a week, and people getting the achievements, it’s pretty barren.

So, you don’t want to change the system, just the location of the champ zerg from open world to inside the tower? Coz thats all the tower is. You throw a bunch of people in there and it becomes a zerg, plowing its way through the hallways. Farming this is different from farming champs…….how? All thats different is the background scenery, and frankly I’d rather see Frostgorge or Queensdale in the background than the dreary, depressing tower.

See every one thought I was crazy when I made my post of the poor cant compete.

You aren’t crazy because of those 2 posts about how the poor can’t compete, you just misunderstand a lot on how gold is gotten in-game. You go on making it seem like the only way to earn gold is buying gems and then trading them for gold but failed to really take in there is another way to get gold, it’s called playing the game but for you, you don’t want to grind to get it.

He is crazy, because he thinks that after being able to have a gaming PC, downtime to play a game, internet, power, and the game box…not being able to buy virtual pretties in an MMO that affect his gameplay in no way besides being pretty is considered “poor”.

Is the survivability of a warrior/guardian wearing full berserker gear as bad as thief/ele (squishy classes) when doing PVE (dungeon and fractals) ?

Your survivability is more reliant on your ability to press ‘V’ than anything else.
I’ve been on dungeons and fractals where the heavies are constantly down and the squishies stay up, and vice-versa. Thief, Guardian, Ele, whatever…..it doesn’t really matter as dodging is more important than class or gear when it comes to surviving in PvE.

I am sure I get another infraction but what ever at this point. Basically in a nut shell its working as intended. This is the major reason I hate free2play which should really be called Free 2 Pay. Its true you can convert Gold to Gem’s and buy transmutation stones but as the OP pointed out there going up in price steadily. Which forces more and more people to use real money to buy gems. This system is by design they want people paying more and more in game gold for item’s so they will be more likely to just whip out the credit card.

This would be true except there is nothing in the boutique that you need. No content is being blocked from you. No gear is being kept from you. No skills or traits are being kept from you. You are being hindered in no way at all. You are not being forced or pressured to use the boutique at all.
The boutique is for people who want luxuries, pretty and shiny things. And who cares? The game needs to be supported and through luxury items is the best way to do it. Its a free MMO that some people support via boutique, which in turn affects you in no way whatsoever, since all they’re buying is fluff.
This is like complaining you can’t go to work because you can’t afford a Porche to drive there in.

Thank you for this topic. What this forum really needed was a shining example of how self-entitled some people in the MMO community can be.

By this logic, you could buy a PS4 in a bundle with a pack-in game. Then a year later when they change the box and put in a different pack-in game, you are fully within your rights to lose your mind over it and demand that they give you the game in the new bundle. Because when you bought that, it was with the full understanding of completeness and Sony should honor that by also giving you every promotional offer they ever have to attract new customers since you paid for it once, years ago.

Give me a break.

What keeps you playing LS's releases?

Achievement points, if I do it at all.
I rate it a 1.
Stories are weak. Characters are paper thin. Has little to do with any existing lore, which is far better source for stories, IMO. Content is just a new zerg fest every 2 weeks or killing xx amount of whatever Skeletors minions are this week.
Rewards beyond achievement points are ugly skins that I have never used, so not even worth doing for them.
If it’s easy enough to get the AP’s, I will. Otherwise I don’t bother with it.
I only did this release because it was easy to get in the tower, zerg out the AP’s and was done within the first couple hours of release and I wouldn’t ever have to go back and could get back to doing the things I do like doing in this game. Scarlet is a weak character and I couldn’t care less about the story.
It’s not fresh content at all, its the same zerg-fest with a new coat of paint. We went from zerging the pavilion to zerging the Halloween labyrinth to zerging a tower. Rinse and repeat.
And now Kessex looks like Orr 2.0. Refreshing.

Rewards wouldn’t matter much though to me, if the story was intriguing and fun to do. Like something to do with the actual lore. Starting to expand the map in search of the Dragon in the water that pushed the Krait out of the seas, for example. If this story went in that direction, I might start to care a bit about it.

You can kill champions with 5 people, albeit more slowly than a zerg. Some temple event can be done with 10 or 20 people, or even less. And them being level 80 maps, often with other events related, makes it even easier to find people interested already on map.
But expecting to find more than half of a mid-high level map full (possibly of lvl 80 characters) of players that have no reason to be there other than attempt a boss that can’t even be tried unless you’ve got that many people?

Unacceptable. They don’t scale to how I want to do them. I don’t care if you want to do them with 20 people or more. I want to duo them. The requirements are wrong and your justifications are blind to my needs……………
………………That’s exactly how it feels trying to explain this Tequatl event to people who won’t even try it.

The reasoning is flawed, since maps go into overflow all the time for champ trains. Nevermind how many people you find afk waiting for some low-end world boss that takes 3mins. You take those people and throw into Sparkfly Fen and boom, you have yourself a completed Tequatl. The numbers here are severely exagerrated as well. You do not need a full overflow or 100 people. I have been involved in it more than once on maps that are not full. So, stop making it sound like its impossible and alot worse than it actually is. I have heard it can be done with 50 people (I have yet to know this for sure, though I would like to try). Theres more than that at Behemoth after reset.
The only difference is, you can have half the zerg at Behemoth do nothing and it still succeeds in 5mins. People get lazy at Tequatl and it fails. Thats what it comes down to. Actual fear of failure.

People show in other events simply because they know they don’t depend on at least 80 other people to be able to complete them.
And you have no way to know beforehand if they are there, anyway.
Unless it was organized.

Cool. I’ll guest over and watch you do Balthazar (or any temple without pre-planning of people to show up for it) without a zerg. Then you can show me how you champ train in Frostgorge without one. And how you take enemy keeps in WvW without one.
Since you don’t expect t rely on any significant amount of other people, you should be able to show up and not expect to have to depend on any amount of other people to succeed.
Why stop at Tequatl? I say we reduce Balthazar and all temples to being able to be duo’d. I also want to be able to solo or duo Stonemist castle. And I want to do a Champ train with 5 people as efficiently as a zerg.
This stuff should all scale to fit my specific needs.

It’s funny that you say all that but you say it’s easy when you set a time for it. Of course it’s easy to get it done when you plan ahead.

The first part is what you get when you ask a random group of 100+ people to try to be coordinated. It’s just not going to happen.

No, I did not say I set a time for it. Nor did anyone in the playerbase. The spawn time was changed. There is no longer a 1hour window. The counter counts down and it will spawn within minutes of the countdown ending. You know almost exactly when it spawn at any given time. You’re telling me people can’t plan ahead to be there at a known spawn time when they will sit on Queensdale in the swamp for a half hour before the window waiting for Behemoth?
And it doesnt take a ton of coordination. It takes learning and knowing what to do. You must have a very low opinion of the playerbase. Out of 80 people, you are assuming the majority are too stupid to know to move out of aoes, kill fingers and run to battery defense? And how hard is it to press a button to remove scales and cleanse zerg if you’re on a turret? Doesn’t even take a person leading the charge, its that easy. Its a matter of paying attention and not being lazy. If theres a commander or two barking out the basics in map chat, so much the better. Is it so hard to pay attention?
You can have huge zergs in WvW, temple events, Champ trains, other world bosses, in the Living story, but Tequatl is drawing the line for huge zergs? Because turrets have to be defended and used properly?
I’m sorry, but I would assume that people playing this game aren’t that dumb and could actually do this no problem.
You make it sound a giant logistical nightmare, which it is not. If people took the time to learn the fight, this could be done easily on any server with all pugs.

It’s only challenging now, and I use the word extremely loosely, for all the wrong reasons. The mechanics of the fight are dead easy to get used to and beat.

It’s only challenging because you need 100+ people to all hop into an overflow server and use voice comms.

Yet, servers with more than enough people at the event fail. Because manning and knowing how to use turrets is too challenging. Knowing to wp when dead is too challenging. Knowing to kill the fingers is too challenging. You don’t need voice comms. The organization is as simple as people paying attention when on turrets and people calling out the times on battery defense, coz some people lag and don’t know when to go back (not their fault, obviously). Apparently that is too challenging as well.
There’s more than enough people to show up at this, especially with a set spawn time. More than enough people show up at other mindless world bosses after reset that could show up at Tequatl. This just shows that anything beyond idly standing and auto-attacking is too challenging for a lot of the playerbase.

Whats the point of the additional infusion slots beyond what we already have? Are they raising the bar and removing the barrier for level50+?
Jade Maws agony at 50+ is insta-kill regardless of agony resist…so unless they remove this barrier, it makes Ascended armor even more pointless.

That’s the whole idea. The cap will be removed.

Has this been said anywhere? I was expecting with Ascended weapons they’d raise the cap to 60 or at least hint it being raised. This is an obvious move to see…….but I’ve learned the obvious in a case like this isn’t always what happens.
I’ve seen nothing said or even hinted at by Anet that they are doing this. If there is some word from them somewhere, I would love to see it…..because as of now, this gear is beyond pointless.

Umm.. this is a video game. Shouldn’t we be having fun every day???

For Tequatl, yes I too feel he needs to be scaled back. It was fun for a temporary challenge but, after 2 weeks it should have reverted back.

I am having fun killing Tequatl everyday as it is now. You have 15 other world bosses you can go auto-attack.

I was going for a TTS overflow the other day and ended up in a pug overflow that killed it with time to spare. The people going for it now know what they’re doing so that even pug maps are doing it. Without all the lazy auto-attackers, people who refuse to wp when dead or move off a turret when they dont know what theyre doing, you’re pretty well guaranteed success.
Everyone could do this daily. Playerbase is hurting themselves in this case. You now have a set spawn time, so you even know when to go.
It’s really depressing to come to these forums and see people trying to destroy one of the few things I actually enjoy doing in this game (fractals, Tequatl and WvW are about all I do in this game). But as long as you have fun, who cares if it ruins it for someone else, right? 15+ easy mode bosses isn’t enough, obviously.

Every person that posts this “expensive crafting” note always glosses over the point that you can get ascended weapon chest from Fractals level 26+. At the higher levels they drop pretty frequently compared to other things. Fractals aren’t hard. By the time you get to level 10 where the agony kicks in, you “SHOULD” already know the mechanics of every fractal (unless you were powerleveled through which I notice a lot of people are). All the ascended trinkets with agony resistance I’ve gotten are through the course of doing said fractals. You earn them along the way.

Just to correct this as the level is way off – Ascended weapon chests start dropping from the Jade Maw bonus chest at level 10 (which is even better for the point you were making )

Crafting to 80 is out of hand.

I’m curious about the argument people are making about “knowing your class and how to play”. Forget crafting and look at the other methods of ‘power-leveling’ in GW2. What exactly does running the champ train in Queensdale teach about your class, besides how to wp around quickly and press 1? What does a WvW karma train teach you about your class mechanics, besides how important it is to tag things for credit? What does most open world content teach you, since most of it is facerolled?
Its an empty argument IMO. None of the quicker ways to level teach you anything about mechanics, crafting included.

How are non gem buyers supposed to compete with players who buy gems? I feel gw2 is becoming another mmo where you have to pay with real life money to be the best or grind until you are dead.

Have you played GW2? Or any MMO that actually is pay-to-win? Or one that has excessive grind?

I have 5 lvl80 characters (a recent 6th started), all in exotics, most in Ascended orns/trinkets, 6 Ascended weapons, and skinned the way I like them. I don’t play excessively, sometimes only 2 or 3 hours a day. Know how much I charged? $10, once. And that was to just buy a new character slot.
Of all the flaws or problems you could have with GW2, this one is confusing as GW2 IMO (from experience with actual pay-to-win MMO’s), is about as far from being pay-to-win as a b2p/f2p MMO can get without getting rid of gem-exchange completely.

Ascended tier are mostly all account-bound (some basic mats are not, but buying these out when you need to get other account-bound stuff still holds you back, so you’re not really gaining much of an advantage)

Cashshop is all fluff, luxury and conveniences. Nothing in there gives anyone an advantage of any kind, unless you count prettiness as a game-breaking advantage.

All in all, the game has become just like any other korean grinder out there,

I don’t believe that most people who make this claim on these forums have actually ever played a Korean grind MMO. Because it is nothing like the minimal grind in GW2.

16+ hours playtime every single day for 3 weeks and longer, to gain 1 item that might or might not drop but that you will need to reach or gain access to endgame content. Not purchasable on any TP or AH. That’s Korean Grind MMO and I really loved that game too

Right!? I know people who camped the same boss for MONTHS for a certain skill scroll to drop. I spent 16+ hours/a day during 2x exp weekends with 3x exp boost items (for a total of 5x exp) to raise 10% of my level… The only way to even gain a decent amount of exp was pvping in that game, if you didn’t want to you were out of luck.
THAT’s a korean grind.

Exactly. I’ve played Korean grind and i can’t believe people would compare GW2 to it. It is nowhere near the same. GW2 has grind, yes……….but go actually play a Korean grind MMO before trying to make that comparison here. Where you need to literally grind the same mobs, day in and out for months on end to gain half a level worth of exp, or like the above stated examples of months of grinding the same boss for a piece of equipment you actually need to progress. Or grinding the same 3 hour dungeon for more than a year for the last boss that has a literal 0.001% chance to drop 1 item you absolutely need to progress your gear.

The b2p/f2p payment model does not work.

This dev team has amazing ideas and vision, but lacks the funding necessary to bring any of them to light. It’s really a crying shame…

That’s why you see Teso, WS, and FFXIV returning to sub models. The stuff that players want is just too expensive to do for free.

While this is arguably true, there’s also a reason you see previous p2p games go b2p/f2p. Players want the best content and expansions and features, but don’t want to pay a sub for it. Its a vicious cycle.
The trend scares off people who might pay too. TESO, FFXIV….people might be cautious of paying a sub now when they might go f2p 6months after release, then they feel they paid for nothing.

Voice chat would be a waste of resources. Vent, TS, etc are all commonplace enough that if you can’t take the 5secs to download and install, then you’re only hurting yourself.
Chances are, in-game implementation wouldn’t be up to everyones expectations and would use vent/TS/etc.. anyway. I’d much rather they work on the game itself than a project that is not needed as the void is filled by numerous options.
Text needs to remain as a mainstay anyway. Not everyone lives in quiet solitude.
I have a family. Do you want to hear my kids yelling on voice chat? Or their TV shows? Or the music? Or anything else from my rather noisy household? I don’t suppose you would and it’s more of a courtesy that I stay off voice-chat and use text while there’s a lot of background noise. There’s alot of reasons some people may not be able to use voice as freely as others.

LFG tool is good. The LFG sites pre-date the in-game tool and are mostly dead now since the in-game implementation as far as I know (i’ve removed them from bookmarks as I dont need them anymore). I never have a problem for pug fractals or dungeons with the LFG tool. If there’s no group currently, start your own, usually fills pretty fast. Hell, have even used it for FG champ parties. I really have no idea where you’re coming from on this one, coz it works perfectly fine.

So if ANet think that all they need are the player from TTS, than yes they should hear to people of your kind. If they think they better want more players, then they should stop listen to the “make it harder” crowd.

They should listen to all.
Tequatl is fine. Champ farming is fine. Dungeons are fine. Fractals are fine. Other world bosses are fine.

Each fills a niche for different player types.
Some people don’t like these things……and well they have other options.
The problem is people like the OP, who are jealous of the free-time some people have to run champs all day and are on an agenda to change all content to suit them and noone else – “I dont like champ farming, change it to suit me!”, “I dont like Tequatl, change it to suit me!”
I don’t champ farm excessively. I do it sometimes when watching TV or something else. 2 hours is my max. I just can’t stomach anymore and I have a job, family, other things to do. But I know many people do champ farm all day……and I don’t give a crap what they do. So what if they have hundreds and hundreds of gold. Isn’t affecting me any. They are not better geared because of it, since Legendaries arent the end-all be-all.
People just need to let other people be. Don’t like champ trains, don’t run the kitten things. There is other content out there and people who do it.

Whatever happens with the train..

Not nerfing the bags, but nerfing their location. champion should spawn randomly and there should be a limit of people killing them. Why so?

1. Too much reward for something that can’t fail. It’s just impossible to fail this, it’s like standing in LA and getting free gold. You can go there gearless at level 1 and nothing will happen to you because there like 50 other people killing the same thing.

2. It’s bad for new players, exemple: he starts at queensdale, gets to level 80 and even at max level he still don’t know how to use his class. Same thing for wvw by the way : if people zerg all day long , they have no idea how to win 1v1 fights, I’ve seen some pathetic things on youtube, people are winning 7v1 in wvw because alot of them simply never learn how to PvP, they just blob up and spam 111.

3. What’s the point of those dynamic events and other zones like Orr ? If people can just stand in the same place and kill the same mobs over and over again? What’s the points of living story then?

4. The economy, people complain about precursors being 800g. If somebody stops playing for a week he is too far behind because people r making hunder of golds per day with this.

1. You can apply the same thing to world bosses (lesser gain, same thing). Most you can stand there with no gear or do naked and get rares or exotics. Many you have to try to fail to actually fail them.

2.Performance in PvP has little to do with champ farming. So ppl level to 80 champ training….what exactly does crafting teach you about your class, since that by far the fastest way to level? Or running through facerolling mobs in open world PvE? Teaches you nothing about how to use your class in PvP/WvW. Or just running thru maps levels you pretty quick. Or doing personal story which awards alot of exp….I know I learned how to use my classes in PvP from personal story………………………………….>.>

3.Champ farming didn’t do this. Dynamic events and Orr were dead before champ boxes. Living story still has no purpose now as it didn’t have any before champ boxes. Its poor implementation predates champ boxes by far.

4. Too far behind in what exactly? Work on a legendary? Legendaries are no better than Ascended. They are not falling behind anything besides being what some consider ‘pretty’. Precursors have nothing to do with ‘falling behind’ as they don’t lead to any path any better stat-wise than another.

I’ve gotten less than 10 exotics total in about 2,500 hours of playing. This is a general pattern among most GW2 players it seems like.

Holy crap. Thats very bad luck.

I don’t buy any gear to throw in the MF. I toss in the rares I get from world bosses, WvW and other various places – from just playing casually. I usually get a few exotics a week (anywhere from 2 to 5 a week) and have gotten a precursor once (Warhorn).

Will People Play Content They Don't Enjoy?

how many people are actually going to participate in content they don’t enjoy just to get a specific reward and how viable is that situation for the long term health of the game.

I don’t do anything I don’t want. Regardless of reward. Its a game, it’s meant to be fun. When it becomes a job or chore of doing things you don’t like then it’s time to turn that game off.

Simple fix … put the karma jugs back in the kitten game and make the Queensdale champs only drop blue bags. If people want to farm champs make them go to frostgorge and leave the lowbies to level in peace.

The above is said as someone that champ farms Frostgorge every day.

This doesn’t stop the train and screws people over for no reason. Many, many people use the train the level alts in Queensdale.
That being said, the trains don’t need to be stopped anyway. The people in the trains and the people outside need to learn to be aware of each other and not throw fits of rage over it.

Could we talk about Tequatl?

Tequatl is one event that fills a niche, open world raid like experience. There are many, many more and all that people are missing now is the one guaranteed 25silver rare they used to get. Do the ones you like and leave those of us that like Tequatl, to him.

I love Tequatl. I can’t do her without guesting, though. Whole servers are missing out because of the way it was implemented (with an 80 player minimum). Those servers that couldn’t develop a strategy quickly enough lost players to hopelessness, and didn’t have enough remaining to field a proper team by the time they figured her out. By then it was too late. Try as we might, there was no getting enough people together ever again.

The naysayers here are the people who didn’t stick it out long enough. And now nobody on their servers gets to play without guesting.

Proper EVENT SCALING is all we need. That was something ANet was supposedly using to keep content challenging. Tequatl wouldn’t be any easier or any different. She would just be able to be done with smaller groups. This will help in off-peak hours as well. And even your lucky server may eventually find players getting tired of her, leaving too few people to help when you really want to challenge her.

And trust me; you don’t want to be Guesting all the time whenever you want to do a specific event.

You are right, alot of the naysayers and negativity comes from people who gave up to easily and now want it bent to their way.

The amount of people probably wouldnt be a big deal. My experience on my server was this :
Our map would fill. People would tag up as Commander and try to organize other people. These commanders knew what they were talking about. The general map chat response was “This isn’t WvW, we don’t have to follow commanders” and “we don’t have to do that, we just need to stack on it”.
Is it any wonder my server doesn’t do it or get the rewards from it? Frankly, with attitudes like that I don’t care if they ever get it. Because we could have done and could still be doing it as a server. But the Commanders and knowledgeable people now guest and/or go to TTS overflows. Why bother with your own server when you can go to where there is like minded people and not have to deal with people basically telling you kitten off for trying to help and get them to work together and succeed?
Tequatl isn’t perfect, I’ll give ya that. But the fault its not being done isn’t solely on ArenaNet as people seem to imply. A rather large portion of that blame can be placed on the playerbase themselves. Either through giving up, being lazy, or not wanting to have to go out of their way for a reward/good time. I am not lumping everyone who is against Tequatl as it is now into that, but there are a large number of people that are that way. If anyone in this topic takes personal offence, its not intended as I speak out of experiences within the game itself.

Killed him a few times for the achi points. Now I don’t bother with him anymore.

Jormag is a much better event.

Obviously can’t please everyone, as this clearly shows.
I never do Jormag. I absolutely hate this event. I find it annoying, tedious, a faceroll win and a waste of my time. I don’t care what rewards they add to this event, I just don’t like it and couldn’t even tell you the last time I did it.
The difference is, I don’t create multiple topics trying to change Claw of Jormag into another Tequatl event that suits me and screws over the people that do like the Claw event. While I don’t know the numbers (and noone does without guessing), Tequatl is being done by at least a few hundred people a day. A small portion of the population, yes…but still that’s a lot of people that do it and many of those have a niche boss they really enjoy.
While it can be arguable that the Claw event brings more people, doesn’t mean they all like it. Its a faceroll for rewards and that brings people out too.

  • “No I can’t destroy them cause hey, I did earn them.”

This is called hoarding. You are amassing a collection of useless items that server no purpose and will never use for the sole reason that you ‘earned’ them.
If you never use them to show off that you earned them and never will, then they literally serve no purpose other than to clutter your inventory. Its a self-inflicted problem.
I would be for adding skins to the achievement section with those skins for the sole purpose of people who like them being able to access them on alts. It would doubly cover what your self-inflicted problem is weighing you down with.

The point that I was trying to add to the conversation was the inventory concern of the continual addition of Back Items.

Drag them outside your inventory window. Press the “yes” button in the window that pops up. Inventory problem solved of the skins you don’t like and don’t use.

If you don’t like the wings, don’t use them. It’s simple as that.

This. I haven’t used any backskins they’ve given away as part of Living Story or anything else. I only like 2 Ascended ones (Fractals and the Quiver), so they’re the only 2 I’d use.
Adding in more wings or bizarre bug-exterminator back skins does no harm. I can just easily destroy them and people that like them can use them.
Be kinda nice if there was option though. The Mad King skin as an example – some people were flipping out about not being able to get this and really wanted it. Personally, I think the skin is dumb and would have opted for the treat bags had I the choice. When these kind of quests are done, a choice between the skin or something like 25 treat bags (or something similar) would be fantastic.

Haven’t got a kill on him since he changed. Looks like yet another way to take loot out of the player’s hands.

Also, not fun.

They didn’t take anything out of your hands. The loot is still there and better than it was before they changed it. You opt to not go get it.
I’ve gotten Tequatl kills 4 times in the last 24 hours – which has given me a multitude of rares, 1 exotic and 1 Ascended weapon chest (of the Cavalier variety) and I had a great time doing it.

I couldn’t disagree more about loot. If the event isn’t fun, increasing loot doesn’t make it more fun — it just means you’ve added extrinsic rewards to compensate for the fact that the gameplay isn’t something you enjoy.

That’s exactly the wrong tack.

The event should be changed so that it doesn’t require camping in Sparkfly Fen waiting for the spawn. It would also be nice if it wasn’t a gear/DPS check — mandatory gear treadmills are lame. The things which actually make Tequatl hard aren’t things which are fun to overcome.

The mechanics are kinda fun, at least for a while.

My home world has killed him only 7 times; not surprisingly, I didn’t see any of those. (It’d be impossible for most people to do so, due to the map limit). I’ve beaten him a couple of times w/ TTS (when invited by someone in TTS, since they wanted more bodies in the map).

I agree with you. I was involved in 3 Tequatl kills today, even though I got less rewards for the two extra I did before reset. I don’t care about the loot, I find this a fun event/boss to do.

This problem is exacerbated every time Anet runs Tequatl as a daily. Some people care about that single achievement point and they don’t care about beating the dragon. So they die, lay there and get their achievement.

In my opinion Tequatl should never be a daily for that reason. It makes it harder for people who actually want to beat the dragon to do so.

Its still ignorant on other peoples part to partake in screwing over an event for the sake of 1AP. You’re there for the achievement already, why not contribute and get the rest of the rewards?
Yes, the Tequatl-only daily should probably be removed and leave the Tequatl+any other world boss daily.

Stop defending a stupid system.

It’s stupid. It’s completely asinine that people have to spend an enormous money on a GAMBLE (and it is that, gambling) in a game like this.

It doesn’t matter what the expectation is for the user, beyond this: People expect to invest time/money and be rewarded accordingly. Not on the whim of RNG.

What’s asinine is that people keep feeding into it while complaining about it. SOme guy a few posts above says he poured half a days wages into this RNG system, then complained he got nothing…..wtf. Why would anyone sink real money into a system like this that they dont like. Complain here all you like, but as long as its raking in money, the system will remain. The only clear-cut message you can send is to not buy into it.

The only problem with Tequatl is the huge window waiting for it to spawn. Cut that to at least half of what it currently is and it’d be perfect.

Tequatl’s not hard. Map I was on last night did it in 9mins. People just need to learn how and what to do. Main servers could do this no problem (and they did) if people would take the time to learn to do something other than stack at a dragons feet and auto-attack.
This goes for beyond Tequatl though. For example – how many lay dead at Golem, FE, Maw, etc…..scaling the event up and absolutely refuse to waypoint? Is that a problem with the event being too hard or the people being too lazy or stubborn to wp?
