This is a social game, yes. What followers can do is wrong however.
A friend of mine had a complete stranger starting to harass her, messaging her all the time as soon as she logged in, making sure she knew he knew where she was.

The system doesn’t need to be removed, but it does need to be changed to allow a bit of control. If you end up with someone stalkerish or harassing you, you should have the option to immediately bock them and actually have block work, unlike now where they can still see what you are doing.

Why are u farming them from mobs if you’re looking to rig this? You can get them every 5 mins in the Aspect minigame (I havent tried the other yet, so idk).
And you can outright buy them, can’t you?

Celestina hit this right on the head though, alot of people on these forums have no idea what they’re complaining about when they do.

The game of 3 classes....

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

MrRuin.9740

Its a non-issue in this game.
I am not prevented in any way from doing dungeons or any PvE content due to my not playing one of those 3 classes. Yeah there’s elitists for CoF who want only the 2 in specific gear. That’ll be a non-issue anyway as well with the dungeon gold nerf coming (read the blog if you don’t know – no more gold drops from bosses in dungeons).
If people fall into the mindset they need to be one of those 3 classes for quick and effective runs in PvE, its their own fault. Its a personal mindset to be in, usually stemming from letting the few in the community who feel this way get to you. If shaving seconds off a FotM or CoE or AC run is that important to someone, let them find other elitist types. Personally, shaving a few seconds or minutes off a run isn’t even something I consider. And it doesn’t matter in the 99% other PvE in the game. It only matters to the speedrunners of CoF and a couple other paths of other dungeons (though nowhere to the extent of CoF)
Theres a ton of other players who run dungeons and PvE content and dont care what class you are as long as you know how to play it.

It usually shaves off minutes and even hours in other dungeons. CoF is a poor example as everyone knows about that. However most people dont seem to realise that in other dungeons the same rules are applied, full dps with maybe 1 dps guard for aegis and utility. It makes things so much easier and it really shouldnt. Every class should have a viable role somewhere in one of the dungeons atleast. But they dont. Debuffing is crap, not boosting dmg is crap and survivability is pointless. The meta is all about raw dps which really doesnt give a lot of options for team composition and class diversity.

Its not an issue for casuals because they dont seem to care about spending 3 hours in a dungeon which takes 20mins max (with mixed classes but proper builds). Stop acting as if its a non issue. It is an issue which is easily fixed, either with new skills for all classes or more interesting game mechanics which actually rely on condition dmg or interrupts to go faster.

because it is a non-issue. Who is spending hours in dungeons? I know I’m not, and I don’t run full party warriors/mes/guard in berserker. Don’t spend anything near hours in any dungeon and sometimes only have 1 of the 3 classes in question.
I’m not disagreeing with the fact other classes should have more viable roles, but some of it is being blown way out of proportion.
If you’re spending hours in dungeons in this game, something besides class choice for the party is wrong.

Will ascended armour have a new set of cosmetic look? Because if it does, it seems pointless to do dungeons for skins at the moment.

Why? Newer doesnt equal better.
I havent cared for almost all of the new weapon skins being added with the living story.

Regarding future plans for Magic Find

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I wouldnt expect a reply. Whatever they do to compensate is potentially open to abuse if they say before hand.
Suppose they say that they will add the equivalent magic find to your account-wide stat. Sure, that would be fair to you….but how many people would rush to buy as much mf gear as possible before this change to get the account-wide bonus? Should they get the compensation for something they’ve had only a week (let’s say) while others have genuinely had it months?
Though worrisome for those with mf gear currentIy, I can see why Anet might not want to answer this.

I love the wild conclusions people draw on no evidence.
For one, its one instance.
Also, a lot of people don’t just idle on the map of the instance they want to run. gw2lfg is used while running around doing whatever else while forming, getting into a group. Why would I idle on a map waiting for people to come along and hope they have room when I can other things and use gw2lfg?

As someone who had 37/37 achievement points before the new JP was released I must inform you that I lost 10 points when the new JP was released and I had 37/38 on the Dive Master Achievement.

You DO lose points if something new is added on an achievement line and you DO have to finish the new objectives to get your points back.

This is not true. At least not for everyone. I had 37/37 diving locations before the new JP. I have not even set foot in the new JP yet and I have been bumped up to 38/38 diving locations, though I haven’t been anywhere near the new one.

Links to not having JP done, yet having 38/38 dives. ( I am assuming ofc that you get the JP achieve upon completion of the puzzle before getting the diving one for this to be proof of this)

Played another MMO for 10 min. back to GW2

MrRuin.9740

The kind of games I could see harming GW2 would be one with similar combat and content mechanics (action based combat with dynamic dodging, no fixed trinity roles, dynamic events, level downscaling, etc…) but with a more “serious” tone to it. Some content in GW2 is, no offense meant, quite ridiculous. Back pieces come to my mind as prime examples… quaggan packs, tentacles, etc… those new hats in the shop are also not very “serious” looking either. All those things are (for me) quite immersion breaking, but thankfully they aren’t very popular in my guild and I rarely do pickup groups so I can ignore them most of the times.
If another game offers the same great gameplay and open world in a more “serious” and “darker” setting, I will most likely consider it. So yeah, if ESO copies the best of GW2 while ignoring the “my little pony” style fluff content, it will be a serious contender for the position of “main MMORPG” for me, no matter how much I enjoy all the other GW2 features. There’s just too much “silly” stuff sometimes compared to the more “serious” stuff.

This is more realistic. Some game will come out and compete more directly with gw2 and some people will move on.
But this crap of utterly destroying gw2 in one fell swoop on launch by another MMO is just ridiculous. Like so much of the population swarms to a new game that Anet shuts down gw2.
Its stupid to place that much hype on an MMO thats not even out yet and that noone can play. If anything it hurts the new MMO’s more than gw2. By the time we play them, they are so over hyped in our mind that they are disappointing when we finally play them.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I don’t understand this topic at all. Gear locking implies the game is hindering you unless you have specific gear. Which it does not.

The only arguably thing for this is +AR gear……but you dont even need to start thinking about that until you pass level10 fractals. So you’re not even limited there.

Level locking…..well, the dungeons have recommended levels. If someone goes in before that recommended level and with subpar gear, thats your own fault, not the games. Its not realistic and just plain stupid to think youd run a dungeon under levelled and with subpar gear. Running around in white, or even blue gear =……well theres no excuse for that. Considering the many ways to obtain green+ gear, it just comes off as lazy if you have anything less.

Its no wonder people are so disappointed by an MMO when they play it when this kind of hype is built up around them for months before release. They have nowhere to go but down to disappointment. Armor Skins That Are RNG On Wear

By now pretty much everyone has stated they don’t care for the RNG crates in the gem store.

This is pure speculation.
Basing any kind of statistic off of your friends or these forums is anything from an accurate representation of the playerbase, or their spending habits. These forums represent a fraction of all the people that play. Furthermore, people that are content may not stop in the forums at all, seeing as they are content with the game state. So what you end up calling as ‘everyone’ are the disgruntled few who come to the forums to complain. Which also includes myself and others who have stated in other topics that we are fine with it as it is.
The only ones who know how popular the RNG crates are, are the ones who see the amount of Gems being spent on them. One could assume they sell well and are popular with the overall playebase, seeing as how they keep adding them there. Why add an item that doesn’t sell, afterall. But again, that is also speculation since noone outside of the Anet employees who know how many Gems are spent can know truly.

The irony in the criticism against RNG...

MrRuin.9740

RNG rewards random people. In this case everyone has a chance, regardless of how much time they can spend on playing, how good he is at playing etc.

And with regards to RNG reward systems, the skilled player gets more chances to receive something because he plays more efficiently and spends less time recovering from defeat, running back from waypoints and so on. The person with more time to play also receives more chances because he puts more hours into the game. The person with money to spare is still given a chance because he can buy items from the cash shop which are convenient or offer a chance at rewards like the rich dragon coffers.

This is actually the fairest system because it doesn’t favor those with more money, or those who spend 12 hrs a day playing the game, or those who use special equipment or train their reflexes to be better than others. Everyone has an equal chance to gain something in their own way.

Both golf and poker involve luck, are rewarded, and not only that—we celebrate the best players in those games. There is an element of luck in most competition—and in life too. Many people are rewarded in real life for being lucky.

Also, be careful what you wish for…who’s to say you’d be successful in this skill game for rewards you allude to? Hundreds of thousands of people play this game. Just saying

These two posts are fantastic. I agree completely.

I keep coming back, because I can do whatever I feel like at any given time – run a dungeon (even though I need nothing in it), hop in WvW, help new people, do some meta events, level an alt, run some fractals, wander the PvE world talking to people, do something with the guild – and never feel pressure like I HAVE to be trying to play catch up with gears to keep pace with other players.

I cannot figure out how one person can play for 6 mins get a precursor and they are set for the rest of the game and the people who have been playing for months, know everything, or can do everything and get nothing.

Welcome to RNG.
While RNG persists here in GW2, it run rampant to a much larger degree in other MMO’s and will eventually find its way into any MMO without a monthly fee.
RNG drops are purely luck based (chances of which are controlled by the developers).
The key to it is to have a drop rate high enough that a few people get these items, but low enough that they are not saturated in the market, and thus keeping people playing and trying for them. I’m not saying Anet has this balance down yet, but that would be ideal.

Overall success…..you can take into your own hands. Via farming, grinding, TP flipping and so on.
Success is relative as well, depending on what you want from the game. The kind you emphasize based on RNG, is luck.

Achievement “Zahitan’s Bane” – reminds me of the famous line from Jaws, “going to need a bigger boat”. Don’t know if this was on-purpose or not.

It’d be neat though if they unlocked certain specialty weapon/armor skins though.
At 2500, you get access to tier 1, 5000, tier 2 and so on.

Why not? I don’t see the problem, they are earned and accessible to everybody.

No problem, really. Just be another form of currency and once you start spending them your number would go down. Currently people use them to track progress or whatever. Might make people reluctant to ‘spend’ them if it causes that number to decrease. That was all, really.

That’s really not the point I’m trying to make. I’ve played since beta, the point I’m making is the current content isn’t even worth bothering with imo. Since F+F the only decent content was the MWF. I want to play GW2, but it’s like Anet don’t want to even bother anymore.

Nice gif. Too bad you missed my point. It doesn’t matter whether they add fluff or some hard content that takes a while to do. The outline you put of how to play gw2 still stands. People will flock to a site like dulfy rather than play it themselves, zip through it, then complain there was no challenge or took no time at all to do. This inherent to all MMO’s and many games.
Its a flaw of the playerbase, not the games themselves.

I play exactly like you do.
I have no specific goals I’m working on and thats not a bad thing. Sure, I have goals like that I’m saving for a legendary….but as I do other things. In time I’ll be able to make it, I don’t need it this second.
I love they don’t set specific goals for me. I logon and do whatever I want in this big world they made with no consequence other than I’m actually enjoying myself in a game with no pressure.
I’ll fractals, dungeons, hit the meta-events, wander world maps to help people with sp’s and chain events, work on an achievement or two, dive into WvW a bit, sometimes I’ll just go do mindless mob grind while listening to tunes or watching TV or chatting with friends, or do stuff with my guild – all depends on what I feel like doing at any given time. I’m not saying GW2 is perfect, because it’s not. But it best fits the way I want to play an MMO and the most important part is that it’s fun for me to be in and be able to float around doing different things. It is a game after all.
GW2 fits my lifestyle pretty well too. I don’t have to treat it like a second job to keep up or schedule my life around raid times or anything of the sort.

What's wrong and how it can be fixed

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: MrRuin.9740

MrRuin.9740

There is no happy medium.
If they add content next month, you will have people who go to dulfy in droves, find out how to do it all as fast as possible, then complain there’s nothing to do while the casuals enjoy it a while.
If they add hard and time consuming content, those same people might enjoy it and stay and not complain…..but then the casuals complain they can’t do it.
The wide audience an MMO has to try to appeal to in itself makes it impossible to do so.

And grind is a relative term. You’ll never get a consensus on it’s definition. Repeating the same raids over and over for a new tier of gear is pointless grind to me, but to others thats what they want at endgame. Some people don’t consider the daily a grind and others do.
Given the wide range of MMO’s out there, each one is more tailored to a specific playstyle. It’s more realistic to find one that fits you than have one conform to the way you want it. Yes, Anet needs to keep people playing and buying the game, but there’s simply no way they can appeal to absolutely everyone.
Look at these forums. While they represent a small portion of the actual playerbase and in no way represents the majority feelings given we can’t know them, the complaints are split as it is. Some people like the daily system, some don’t. Some like dungeons, some don’t. Some like the meta events, some dont. Some like the living story, some don’t.
If they change anything major, nothing gets ‘better’, the complaints just shift to a new demographic.

dailies are forced atm

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: MrRuin.9740

MrRuin.9740

I did not list the event dailies, because I’m not 100% sure if they do count in dungeons. If they do this would also encompass the regional event daily.

They do, and yes, I’ve gotten 5/5 dailies from just doing a CoE run before, but usually, I end up with 2/5 or 3/5 and I still need to go kill some guys in Kryta and chop some trees… All in all not too bad usually, but you’re still missing my point, which is an answer to this one.

There’s really not much need for more options just because it’s not tailored exactly for how you want to get them.

My main beef with the dailies isn’t necessarily that they’re so boring, although it’s certainly something that makes me hate them more…

My main problem with them is that they’re the only way to acquire certain items in game. That’s their big flaw. It gates certain players or certain people that just simply hate doing them from getting that gear. When this geat is BIS and semi-necessary to get into certain aspects of the game, you have bad game design.

The only thing you could refer to in this way is Amulets. The laurels themselves as they stand is fine. You can get laurels via dailies/monthlies in many varying ways as I stated in my previous post. Not being limited to dungeons or wvw or the world map, they’re pretty open and easy to obtain.
The other ascended gear available via laurels are obtainable via other means.
In this, I do agree with you. The Amulets themselves should be obtainable in another fashion, perhaps the same way as backpieces via fractals and mystic toilet.
Laurels though, IMO, are fine the way they are. We dont need other way to obtain this currency as its an alternative for people who dont have a guild to obtain earrings or dont want to run fractals for rings. Backpieces even have an (expensive) alternative in the mystic toilet to obaiin rather than run fractals. Laurels should also serve as an alternative in this way for Amulets.
The problem you have could be rectified by adding Amulets to the fractals vendor as a purchasable item from fractal drops.

This whole topic is stupid. And this post summarizes it perfectly.

You would force people to HAVE to do 3 different paths in 3 different dungeons because YOU enjoy it. So the people who enjoy the daily now and it works for them? Screw them, I guess? It’s not what YOU want, so who cares?
See the flaw here?

Having fun putting words in my mouth? I never said I want that to be the sole way of acquiring the Laurels. I just want alternatives to the existing ones, because they bore me to death.

The thing is, the option you spoke of is available some days. They’ve already given you the option.
Condition Applier
Condition Remover
Daily Champion Slayer
Daily Dodger
Daily Fractal Runner
Daily Healer
Daily Kill Variety
Daily Kills
Daily Kills (Regional)
Daily Veteran Slayer (Regional)
Dungeon Completer
Leveler
Skill Interruptor
Story Dungeon Completer
Daily Veteran Slayer
Skill Point Accumulator

All of those are doable in dungeons. Fractals may not technically be counted as a dungeon, but it counts for the daily and mob counts. I’m sure I even missed a couple.
Depending what day it is, you can knock off many choices for your daily in dungeons. So you might have to chop a few trees on the map you’re on waiting to fill the dungeon group or whatever to get the rest, but the daily is not limiting you to only the world map and meta events. Even dailies that require kills in certain areas are covered (CoE counts for Maguuma killer, for example). Skill pints would be easy to get in dungeons with the sheer amount of exp you get from completing one. Do a few and you have 3 skills points.
I did not list the event dailies, because I’m not 100% sure if they do count in dungeons. If they do this would also encompass the regional event daily.

This is covering as much of the population as they possibly can. They are giving options where you only have to do 5 of them and they are counted on the map, in WvW or in dungeons, depending on what you want to do.
No, you can’t get the same amount done in dungeons every day, it varies. Sometimes you get them all, sometimes you could get only get a couple. The point is, its varying and noone is telling you to them on the world map or all at meta events – let alone do them every day. There’s really not much need for more options just because it’s not tailored exactly for how you want to get them.
You’re only limiting yourself if you think or believe dailies can only be done on the world map. That or the effort of completing these in this way is actually too hard and just an excuse to make them buyable, and thus, handed to us for absolutely no effort at all.

I’ll tell you why. Because they force you into certain aspects of the game by punishment of being gated from other aspects if you don’t do them.

I don’t do open world events, I don’t chop down trees, I don’t do any of that crap ever. I also don’t like doing it.

I don’t mind having to do some effort for getting that Laurel, absolutely not. Make me do all dungeon paths in a certain dungeon, or do 3 dungeon paths in 3 different dungeons. Stuff that I would enjoy.

It doesn’t matter what ANet does at this point for the daily. There will be people who don’t like it. It’s impossible for them to cater to the varying needs and entitlements of every single player in this game. There is no system that will make everyone happy with it.

Am I 100% happy with it as it is? No. If I can’t get it done for whatever reasons real life imposes or if I feel like doing other things, guess what? It doesn’t get done.
I also realize that it’s not game breaking if I don’t. I don’t fall hopelessly behind other people, I’m not missing out on key aspects of the game. Absolute worst case scenario is whatever I wan to spend laurels on is pushed back a day or two.

Why is everybody complaining about RNG?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: MrRuin.9740

MrRuin.9740

Seriously, if someone buys gems for real money, to buy RNG items in the shop, he paid real money for the boxes. It is not how you name it, it is the intention of the user paying the real money which counts.

It may be a tactic to get people to buy gems. It may be the purpose that people buy gems for. I don’t argue that. But the fact remains, the real life money transaction is complete when the player receives their gems. This is why there’s no legal precedent. It’s not a point of view or a defense of Anet cashshop and RNG practices, it’s just a fact that you pay money for gems and you receive gems. That is the complete real money transaction and it does not include RNG gambling chests.
If you directly paid money for the boxes, then that would be a different story.

Why is everybody complaining about RNG?

MrRuin.9740

Well, put it in short
People are not complaining about RNG ingame, but about the fact that you pay with real money for an RNG box, that mostly holds nothing in it. But its their own fault for buying it and making the whole RNG box system a profit in the first place, thats what the others are complaining about.

This isn’t quite the problem. The problem is more that people don’t make the disconnect from real life money before the chests come into play.
People enter into a transaction with ANet. They give them money in exchange for Gems. This transaction concludes the involvement of real money. Money has been paid and the consumer gets exactly what they paid for.
The problem lies in people treating the Gems as real life money. Its not. It has no value whatsoever. Any in-game transactions thereafter conducted with those Gems is not dealing with real life money in any way.
Noone can claim to have paid ArenaNet for RNG boxes. Its simply not true. They paid ArenaNet for Gems, and got exactly what they paid for.

So about that ticket....2100 later..

Wow, weapon skins are serious business to some people o.o

Personally, just making the skins not account bound until used would be the way to go for me. Sure, they might be pricey, but then you’d have the option of trying your luck at RNG for them (which some people enjoy the gamble) or just save up and buy outright from the TP.
Otherwise….I’m not that much into the gamble and it doesnt matter much to me as its not affecting the way I play the game in any way. Its just a pixelated skin….

Don't like RNG boxes? then don't buy them

They make money and will keep selling them.

The game I played before this one had cashshop ‘packs’ that had endgame gear in them. Not even endgame gear that was farmable, gear that was a tier or two above what was farmable.
Seeing these boxes here was unsettling at first, until I realized……..they have nothing of any real use in them. At all. There’s nothing in them that affects the game in any way besides eye candy. The only real problem with the way it is now, is the stuff is account bound.
Free up the skins from the boxes. This allows people who like to play RNG have fun, while also letting people who dont like RNG save and just outright buy any eye-candy skin they want from the TP.

These boxes as they are, besides the binding of the skins, doesnt bother me in the slightest. Though if the day ever comes that anything of any real consequence, like gears or something game altering, starts to appear in these chests though, I’ll be dropping this game and not looking back at it.

As they stand now…the chests are the aforementioned "fluff’ that somebody mentioned. They give cosmetic changes that affect gameplay in no way at all. Its that not fluff, I dont know what is.

alternative to guildwarstemple timer?

http://us.gw2stuff.com

It is not dependent on players to update (uses data directly from the game) so it isn’t subject to trolls.

This, hands down. Excellent timer. It also updates to tell to you at which point any pre-events are in. (Grawl attacking, or the totem, etc for Maw, for example. So you know if you have time to make it. Saves from having to sit around in a low level map waiting out the window as well)
They’ve recently put out an overlay that you can up over your client all the time without needing to tab out to check as well.

Yes. You need to go to the same level or higher if you want to progress.

If I am level2 and do a level5, do I advance to 5? or do I have to do them in sequence?

Run Crucible of Eternity paths 2 and 3.
That will teach you dodge while staying in melee.

It’s not that you can’t, its that you haven’t learned the mechanic yet. I was craptacular at dodging overall myself, until I ran CoE a lot to farm some gear.

all I really need is one more dagger and one more pistol and I can run any combo (3 daggers for s/d and d/d)

Huh?
You know you don’t need to do that, right? Equip sword main and dagger main. Put one dagger in one off-hand set. Switch sets, off-hand dagger stays while main weapon switches.

My thoughts about GW2

MrRuin.9740

  • I felt more rewarding in GW even as Anet hated me back the in rewarding my efford.
guildies gave me greens because after 20 runs i still had not got even 1. But even then I got the feeling i did something. Even though GW1 gave me more joy i since the GW2-Beta’s i could no longer play it.
  • GW1 was a very story driven game, this is all gone due to the open world and personal story is 3rd rank by now.

This is not GW1. It was never intended to be. Why do you insist it must be the same experience?

*As a Pure PvE player I feel totally unwelcome. All periodically rewards have PvP tasks in it, thank goddess no longer are they required to get you monthly done, but still there. But each day at least 2 WvW task are in it, and in such I feel unable to complete all PvE daily tasks. And NO WvW is in no means to be considered PvE it’s merely PvP with a little PvE topping that is bad for your teeth.

Your daily has ALOT of choices. Why are you doing the 2 WvW dailys anyway? Do the other ones, leave these and move on.

  • As pure PvE player i have no access to – Legendary or to ALL armor sets

This is hilarious, honestly. I’m a 90% PvE player myself and can see how much better access to everything we have VS PvP/WvW players. The majority of gear and legendary is PvE.

  • I’m beginning to feel like a cash cow with the TP and upgrades you desperately need. Like storage and character-slots to store some more. Don’t get me wrong in GW1 I also bought 20 extra characters, just to have some room. I’ve bought all costumes, but now it is too frequent and way to much.

This is mostly in your head. Why are you storing so much stuff? I have multiple lvl80’s and havent needed to expand my bank at all. In fact, there hasn’t been a single thing that’s ‘desperately’ needed to play from the TP.

  • with all of the burdens of dailies, weekly and monthlies it is a complete burden.
Each Night i come in and no longer play what I want to, but do stuff to accomplish the daily. I know I don’t have to , but is is the only way to get some rewarding stuff

This is entirely you. Noone is forcing you to do this. This is a compulsion you have.
Either do the bare minimum to get the reward and forget the rest (which btw, how does that not mostly happen just from playing? I run a dungeon or do a few world boss events and it usually gets done without even trying) or just don’t do them at all. Run fractals for the gears or get in a guild from the rings and stuff. If you are not playing what YOU want to do…thats YOUR fault. Not Anet nor any player is making you do all the dailys or the WvW ones. It is a game, not a job. Noone cares if you skip the dailies for a week and do whatever else you want to do. You’re not going to fall behind. You’re not going to lose out on anything. At absolute worst, you can get something from a laurel vendor a week later.

In GW 1 i too had some stuff that I knew from the start it would take me year to acquire due to my playing style like (FoW) All armor sets or tormented weps, but i also knew i would be able to get them one day, and i did.

Again…this game is not GW1.

What is the deal with this culture?

in Thief

MrRuin.9740

*Lets be honest here and cut all the BS. If you look at mmo history classes with stealth get singled out. To my knowledge this is the most active combat stealth any class has ever gotten in one game. If you add that in with the number of evasive builds and the fact that thief movement is above each and every other class

A bit off the topic, but its not the most. Try playing PWE’s Perfect World. Their Assassin class has the most active and broken stealth mechanic I have ever seen. The one here is pretty tame compared to it, so much that I was relieved to see how this one worked VS theirs.
It is inherently true that if you browse most MMO forums, the Assassin/Thief class with a stealth ability has a lot of negativity throughout it. Best thing to do is just ignore it. If someone has constructive posts about such things, I’ll read them. As soon as they turn into rage/qq I’ll skip to the next post. Replying only feeds the trolls and makes it worse.

How U feel about Big Target's targeting?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

MrRuin.9740

it’s horrible

trying to hit the behemoth in melee, i don’t know where to stand to hit it, it’s just a case of stand somewhere and swing my axe around and hope for the best

Target Behemoth, get in close to where the target zone is, use attack that has movement, which hits the target and puts you in the proper range. Stand there and auto attack until it dies.

What happens when you've achieved everything?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

MrRuin.9740

Haha yeah, but there’s not much incentive to do that either, is there? If I did that I’d just get my name on some board that nobody will notice unless I’m in the top 3 or my guildmates look for my name specifically.

So, personal achievement means nothing? That’s more of an incentive for me than anything else. Can I do it and have fun doing it? Who cares if I get recognized for it by others? I know I set out to do something and did it.
What you’re saying is…what is there to do now for a title or some kind of recognition for?
The point isn’t that there’s not clear cut goals that you’re told to do. The point is having fun doing things you want for your own sense of achievement and enjoyment. People have suggested many in this thread….and that’s just starting.

Try this: “looking for fun, friendly people to run ____”

Don’t use mmo acronyms like LF2M. Add “experienced” if you prefer a run where everyone’s done it once

This actively filters out elitist jerks and you always get whispers of friendly hellos and requests to join. It always works for me.

I’ve found just using the word ‘casual’ works as a great filter too. That’s how I’ll commonly word my posts on gw2lfg. “CoE path3 LF2M – Casual run”

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

MrRuin.9740

My point is, it doesnt really matter which character I take..because they are all equally viable.

And isn’t this awesome? You get to bring with you the players, not the classes. As long as every player knows what they’re doing, you will be fine No more choosing someone for the classes he plays but for how he plays them

This has been basically the mission statement of GW2 since day 1.
How do people buy this game, get so far into it, not know this and the intentions of the creators of it and then complain about it? Doing any research whatsoever before purchasing this game would have yielded plenty of information that this was the intention of Anet for gw2.
This is some of the reason I am in this game. I don’t want to be chosen or neglected from a party based solely on what class I choose to play. I also don’t want to have to stand around waiting for one specific class-type that we need for a dungeon to round out the group or it’ll fail without said class.
