I think Anet assumes that Ele players are much more talented and skilled by far than other players, and the class would be OP if not constantly nerfed.
Nerfentalist of Augury Rock
Whirlpool, the skill that has got the quickest nerf in GW history.
Also, I’d like to point out that many builds (I play auramancer) become almost unviable underwater.
Nerfentalist of Augury Rock
Olà daydreamer! Love the way you think. Also, I’d like elementalists (and other beings too) to get a venomous aura when leaping into a poison/acid field (provided by necros, engies and thiefs), shocking aura when leaping into a static field, (and maybe invisibility when leaping in a blind field).
That would give auramancers more access to auras since it’s the foundation of their build. Also I’d like thieves to be given the possibility to be a better group support.
Nerfentalist of Augury Rock
All characters at a same level should have the same amount of stat points, but distributed differently according to their class. That’s how i see balance.
Nerfentalist of Augury Rock
funnest thing id do with flamewall in pvp is in d/f, drop earth sig immobilize, burning speed and drop flamewall while charging and if i did it right they were stuck burning in the middle of a flaming cross. looked cool but thats about it.
Yeah I do that too. Not for the poor damage, but for the sake of aesthetics. I just want my combats to be beautiful and artistic somehow.
Nerfentalist of Augury Rock
Should I roll a warrior too? My ele wouldn’t get the half of those stats in full berzerk.
Nerfentalist of Augury Rock
Everything the ele does needs to be castable while moving. Stopping to cast is just a free immobilize for the ennemy. (Now I can imagine casting meteor shower while floating forward in mid air – Here comes the pain -)

GoEP can hit one opponent only once every 5s. With 25% chance to trigger, that seems a bit inefficient to me.
Nerfentalist of Augury Rock
Also they have already talked about new modes and there are some leaks of things they are thinking about.
I think it’s not the time to be thinking anymore. PvP community (or what remains) won’t survive Christmas if not given subsantial content.

I wish SoR granted healing on number of hits rather than skill activation.

Count leap as a human projectile, and see them crashing into the swirling wind.
Also, I can remind Fairy Tail manga, with that bad guy who did a swirling wind around the train station: no one could exit the area without being shred to pieces.
Nerfentalist of Augury Rock
Rapier (medium range, quick attacks and evades) and whip (medium range cc) for elementalist.
And best looking daggers and focus with particle effects; somehow i feel like all the love goes to sword/greatsword.
Nerfentalist of Augury Rock
It did say “with a focus on support builds,” not exclusively. I remain cautiously optimistic.
I hope they’ll support focus builds as well.
Nerfentalist of Augury Rock
Nevermind the rank farmers, they’re easy kills in a regular match, and give the satisfaction to me elementalist lvl32 to kill a higher lvl OP class.
Nerfentalist of Augury Rock
Stat boost won’t scout.
Nerfentalist of Augury Rock
Idem. I play an auramancer D/F build, but switch to Staff when range and kiting are more convenient.
Nerfentalist of Augury Rock
No no no. This can’t be true. It’s an inside joke made by Anet, the true ascended armors will be glorious and epic.
Nerfentalist of Augury Rock
It depends. I like to go out alone with nothing, but if what I encounter is always groups that are buffed to the bone, I build bloodstacks on my way. Though I have neither guard leech nor applied fortitude, and my foodbuff is mainly magic find boost.
I never fight anyone solo who is not buffed, unless he attacks me first. Same for upleveled. But I will attack anyone who’s hurting a Dolyak.
Nerfentalist of Augury Rock
I currently make a pretty mess with FB and FGS; should they be buffed, the more the better.
(I never use all charges; I usually drop them and return to burst rotation – or defense depending on situation, and pick the second one for the next opening when the fight is over. By the time that happens, FB is already up. So I feel like more charges is useless)

He is right though. This game doesnt let you pvp with your friends without messing up your rating. One might argue that the competitive scene itself is extremely casual atm, features miss, leaderboards are beyond broken etc.
But his point still stands. This game needs unranked queue!
I agree.

or for the first 5 seconds after entering combat
This.
Base attunement recharge should be reduced as well as suggested, and trait for skill CD reduction in a given attunement should also reduce the attunement recharge time.
Nerfentalist of Augury Rock
Nice and fun build to play there, but under specific and favorable conditions. As en ele myself, I can see several ways to counter it, if i’m ever caught by surprise. Short fights are always better for eles and your build gives you that advantage (as well as your size). But personnally – at least in wvw – I prefer having more sustainability, and the ability to deal with sneak attacks – especially thieves since i’m their number one target.
Nerfentalist of Augury Rock
Not a bad Idea, though Blindness is more linked to Air magic, but I wouldn’t mind. Any buff to FA is welcome. But given the easy acces for every class to fire aura, i’d like something more specific to elementalists.
Nerfentalist of Augury Rock
It’s been one week i’ve been playing with conjures and utilities that are not even traited (so i’m very far from having an optimized build). And I must say, as a situational weapon it does fill some gaps and weaknesses in my build, in both pve/pvp. I’m starting to like them, and maybe more after the patch.
The hardest thing about being en ele is to be the number one target (few people actually give a think when they see one, they just rush on him – looking at you thieves-), cause sadly, we get down pretty fast, and can’t survive long enough against 3 people. And they know that. And when we survive – and in best case scenario we win- people tend to think the class is OP. It is not. We’re just being underestimated, and everybody here knows why.
Nerfentalist of Augury Rock
Ele’s even heal better than Guards and they don’t really have to “spec” for it…
I’m curious about that, could you please tell me more?
Nerfentalist of Augury Rock
Or you could have an option to recognize a friendly foe as ennemy, and kill him publicly.

EDIT: @Gorny, elementalist’s viability in pvp will depend on the nerfs some of the other classes will receive on the 15th. Elementalists at their current state were one of the best pvp professions before the last big balancing path.
I agree that Eles are a fairly good balanced class when it comes to weapon-spells, damage and CC (wrote exactly that in another thread). But I don’t expect Anet to nerf for example those stupid stunlock-warriors (no, they’re even going to buff warriors again). The problem with conditions since the last balance-patch are the new conditions available to Nekros, not that they can spam them permanently or stack them (they could do that before) – I doubt that they’ll remove the new conditions. Condi-Engis for example were hard enemies even before the patch.
But I think the real problem are the core-mechanics of the game. No wonder eles suffer the most due to their low base-HP. Even mesmers are getting destroyed by conditions though they have more HP. Like I stated in another thread: How do you want to seriously balance a game when some classes have only about half the HP of other classes that even have more armor and can deal more damage? I’ve never seen anything like that in another MMORPG. Classes usually have about the same amount of HP to create a base equality between all classes on that you can build on. Little differences in armor and HP (mostly defined through gear) define the playstyle of the class: low armor = usually ranged with either good CC/support or high dps; high armor = melee combat/support, quite good damage if in melee range or good CC. Magical damage (and not conditions that every class has access to) is usually not affected by armor to have more options to balance different classes. That’s how you balance a game. No wonder that Anet fails on PvP in GW – it’s not only difficult but impossible to create balance with the given mechanics. I know that it’s easy to say “do this and do that and everything will be fine”, I know that it’s not that easy – but it’s your job and you’re getting paid for it, so maybe you could try a little harder and at least sometimes listen to what the community has to say.
In every game you have underdog-classes and stronger ones, but in GW since realease we always had one or two classes which were totally OP and one or two that are just plain bad compared to others. That’s what we get from those weird mechanics in Guild Wars: Warriors with best CC, insane damage, most HP, most armor, best 5-heal, better ranged-DPS than an ele, insane mobility and stability. And what’s on the bottom of the food-chain? – Eles with lowest HP, lowest armor, nerfed mobility, nerfed healing, mediocre damage (due to spells missing half of the time) but at least fairly good CC (though nothing compared to warriors or fear-necros).
This game is half-baked when it comes to pvp and ill-conceived in so many aspects. I doubt that there will ever be true balance.TL:DR: It’s impossible to create balance in GW unless some of the core mechanics are beeing changed.
Mass has been said.

I think a good player/leader/commander can make up for the new ones and take responsibility on himself in defeat. But I can understand the feeling, and the reasons to be upset.
Nerfentalist of Augury Rock
Ah sorry, my bad then ^^’ (How do you look at someone’s game records btw? I’m still a noob)
Well nevermind these raging people, just have fun for yourself, you’ll find nice people sometimes
Nerfentalist of Augury Rock
I wouldn’t go there with a x/D set because of the lack of defensive skills, and mobility is not necessarily an advantage here. You made some few mistakes when you engaged but unfortunately they’re not forgiving to us eles.
Nerfentalist of Augury Rock
You should train in hotjoin, learn the maps, people are more forgiving there. Go in soloque only if you can make him bite his tongue.
Even though, you’ll still receive unkind words sometimes when your team lose. I usualy just reply casually “Please, grow up”, there’s no snap back.
All I can say is, if you enjoy pvp, don’t let that affect you. You’ll only become a better player.
Nerfentalist of Augury Rock
I was kinda tired of my old bimbo blonde haircut, so i had it cut and died (i’m not accustomed to it yet, i find i look like a manga character)
(the moonlight is so flattering <3)
Nerfentalist of Augury Rock
Well I think originally Fire Wall was designed to be a combo field, thus purely a support skill. But I agree it would be nice to give it a more offensive/defensive utility when you play solo. Maybe make a fire elemental pop everytime an ennemy crosses it. So we could also mess with pets.
Nerfentalist of Augury Rock
Magnetic wave is so fun when ranged cast their unload.
Nerfentalist of Augury Rock
they should make it so Line of Warding acts like a wall we can’t pass either. That way i can use my greatsword 4 skill on it.
I thought about the same thing :/
I guess I’ll just stand by my first idea playing with few others Eles, making 4 walls and casting Meteor Shower in the pit.
Nerfentalist of Augury Rock
I had less than 5 min queue at 8:20 pm tonight on Augury Rock Borderlands.
Nerfentalist of Augury Rock
Oh please no rifle for my ele (they look so awful :/)
If there was to be a 2h weapon for ranged single target damage, i’d like it to be… hmmm… let’s see… maybe a katana.
Anyway, I want a Rapier/Whip set.
Nerfentalist of Augury Rock
Or make a trait that doubles the range of one given element.
Nerfentalist of Augury Rock
At this point everyone but anet is pretty much aware that the winners of leagues are going to be the servers that got a huge influx of players and these battles will be won by numbers alone. To me it seems a little idiotic that these servers will even be rewarded while those who did not transfer/stayed loyal to their own servers will get the worst rewards. However, giving them an exra title as a reward such as “Defender of SERVER NAME” would help balance out ths injustice and maye even promote server loyalty. A title showing you stayed and helped out your server would be more rewarding than anything bandwagoners could ever get.
I do like, and salute your spirit.
Nerfentalist of Augury Rock
I’d rather choose the first option

“Do the nerfs, let the bugs”
Nerfentalist of Augury Rock
the apparent OPness of the Ele (or what is causing them to nerf us constantly) is not caused by the class, but the player quality of this class (Imho there’s much more skilled players among Elementalists than there is among any other class, and less skilled players tend to leave Ele for “easier” options, such as Guardians/Warriors/Thieves).
That, my friend, is the definition of obviousness in the Oxford dictionnary
Nerfentalist of Augury Rock
They did put Stunbreak on GoEP… wicked love i guess…
Nerfentalist of Augury Rock
I am myself dedicated into a freezementalist at this moment, but I have an entirely different build. I define myself as an antispam class.
Nerfentalist of Augury Rock
I bet you frost bow “buff” will end up being a nerf when they inevitably neglect to add more arrows/comets to the frost volley when they increase the radius. So you won’t be able to hit your target because all the arrows are too thinly spread.
Oh god I haven’t thought about this possibility!!! O_O DEVS PLEASE, READ HIS COMMENT!!!
Oh and I think by the way, the frost volley could leave an aftershower frozen ground (you said more support didn’t you?), and each and every hit out of the 5 skills should inflict chill (isn’t what a Frost weapon supposed to do?). And if you allow me to dream a little bit more, an extra elite skill to conjures weapon (maybe an elemental)

People say that this class/build is dead but I ran into a D/D ele today in WvW and she flat out destroyed me and 2 other players. This was on my Warrior, Thief and Mesmer. I was simply amazed on how skilled of a player she was.
I find this hard to believe. Were you all upleveled or something? Were you not running cons while she was? Were you in blues and greens? Were you all just running really crappy builds?
I mean, I don’t want to sound mean or anything, but there’s simply no way you should have been destroyed by that—the warrior, thief, and Mesmer are among the strongest WvW classes, and any single one if built right should be able to completely destroy a perfectly played elementalist. Heck, apart from a few bursts, the elementalist (especially D/D tanky roamer types) has trouble out damaging the Warrior’s healing signet.
This couldn’t have been at the same time. One warrior stun and the ele goes down. the thief must of been terrible while the mesmer was probably the only condi which is easily cleansed with 30 in water.
It might actually be plausible if she had food buffs+25 stacks of bloodlust+Guard Leech/Fortitude and maybe orb buffs. Perfectly played elementalists can be real monsters. It’s always awesome to meet one, it’s like meeting a dinosaur: fascinating and dangerous (but extinct species). And I think she had what you all three may lack: experience and survival through constant nerfs.

I had some time to adapt, but I think it’s fine the way it is. Actually it’s a pretty good mobility skill for gap closing/evade/replacement. I like using it on a cheap target then messing around and pretending to flee when i’m still on cd, and tadaaam i’m baaaaack. But I use it mostly for leap finisher thus gaining an extra aura.
(I agree we definitely lack a pull). And oh I miss Shockwave, earthquaque, churning earth, aftershock from original GW.
