Yeah, at the 4s price point you’re not making enough money to be worth it. I outbid this individual on runes the other days and actually ended up getting skunked pretty hard.

The profit margin on sigils has gone down the toilet, so I moved to runes. Place a buy order for 100 of every rune, figure out which types of runes are flowing in, then focus on those. I’ve made good money off this off and on for nearly a year now I guess.

I managed to craft my Immobulus before the end of LA.

The Mystic Forge will probably change and they’ll place fires in the areas the living world decorations always end up. Maybe the bank will collapse too. Add in some hostile mobs, some smoke, and darker lighting…

Thief or Warrior is good if you want to do PvP.

Elementalist is highest PvE DPS.

For anyone interested the rate of return on buying Heavy Moldy Bags, opening them and selling everything at lowest sell is ~2% as of the time of this post, and generally doesn’t deviate too much from that – buy orders fill very fast and prices respond pretty quickly.

It’s not a particularly good way of making money, but it is a very good way to buy T6 fine mats (since you don’t eat the 15% TP fee on the items you keep) for your own use.

Lets say average drop is one eye for 1500 bags. 1500 X 250 = 375, 000 bags to open. At my loss that would be ~2,075g to get through bags at current price. Farming? Not physically possible. Only possible way to acquire eyes is through buy orders. To out right buy the eye off the TP(actually ~500 available.) would be ~530g. To acquire with highest buy order would be ~401g. There are currently no completed Immobulus scepters for sale.

Total cost to complete Immobulus at this moment:

Between 570g and 440g

Let’s say I’m going into a match expecting to have to hard-carry my team. Which of the 3 strategies do you think would be more successful?

1. playing with my team, try to communicate with them and fight together, run a support build to keep them alive and buffed, etc
2. forget my team, push the enemy and try to distract 2-3 them for long periods of time so my team can win outnumbered
3. build specifically to play the map mechanics and enemy class builds, run orbs, troll skyhammer, steal bosses, etc.

I do 2 and 3 yet I can’t seem to get ranked in soloQ. >_<

I’ve managed to run orbs all game on spiritwatch but my team wasn’t able to hold ANY points(seriously, I dunno what on earth was going on). I stopped running orbs take points then my team let the enemy start running orbs. Anyways that was an extreme example and some teams are just uncarryable.

I played off peak and got matched with the same 9 people for 5 or 6 games before I saw a new face.

this game is not what I hoped it would be, so I stopped playing it 2 weeks after I bought it. Talk about money well spent. I’m prolly not the only one. That may be the reason why there are not many people playing it, because it really has not caught on as it was hoped it would.

Gw2 is actually one of the handful of games I bought last year that I played more than a couple hours before dropping and never touching again.

I’m about to go for either Immobulus on my mesmer or Infinite Light for my thief.

Hell, the double green SAB daggers on my thief feel more exclusive than the Incinerator on my ele. Everyone and their charr has a legendary now-a-days yet people still complain about them being too hard to get.

My cpu never gets above 50% usage while playing. Keep in mind you just linked an i5 – 2500k. I have a liquid cooled i7-4930k 6-core running at 4.2ghzs.

My i5 is overclocked similarly. This game is singled threaded afaik so the fact you have i7 doesn’t matter. I don’t think the IPC improvement was very much from sandy to ivybridge. Make sure you have the vysnc/frame limiter turned off in game.

EDIT: Okay slash the single threaded comment, seems gw2 uses all 4 CPU cores on my i5.

CPU is the bottleneck in gw2.

Picture attached is with everything maxed with supersampling in crowded area. The CPU often stays 100% while GPU is somewhere around 80%.

Engi is the only profession that makes me yell at my screen “Why won’t you die”. Warriors and guardians eventually die, but the engi just keeps on and on and on.

Mesmer: Who doesn’t like doing 6K damage while sitting in stealth, stacking nasty conditions while confusing your opponent, or blowing people up with 3k shatters.

Thief: s/d is ridiculously fun and trolly. Shadow steps, shadow steps, and more shadow steps.

sPvP gets stale quick thats for sure.

The same build, the same maps, the same everything. This game has nothing, NOTHING to it that could ever make it an “esport”. The overall skill level seems low in this game too. I play LoL or Dota I get my kitten handed to me by everyone and get yelled at by bratty kids. Here I win most of my fights and do decent even though I consider myself a terrible player.

I have an engi set up specifically for the map.

I should not have to do that to make one map halfway tolerable. That map is the only map I play engi on. I don’t know anything about engi other than where the pushes/pulls/knockbacks are.

First time in soloQ? I remember the first time I went into soloQ I ran into the most terrible people I’ve ever seen. Its gets a little better as your mmr goes up.

I’ve had a mesmer as my main since I started playing tPvP a few months ago. I recently picked up thief to see what all the fuss was about.

Flying halfway across the map, kitten on someone before they even know whats going on, then hauling kitten back across the map to support another point is too good.

In the end mesmer still works and is still lots of fun to play. I must admit I’m finding thief just a little bit more fun right now though. >:3

Also, don’t play warrior, warriors are lame.

S/F and D/F is about the best you can get on ele right now.

Anyways, I haven’t been playing ele much after having one as my main for near a year. I mean I still small group roam WvW with a cheese zerk d/d build every now and then, but thats it.

Every time I enter that map I hate it more.

At least give us the option to queue without skyhammer and spiritwatch. I play soloQ to have fun, practice new classes, and test builds for teamQ. I can’t do that when I get those two maps 10 times in a row. I’m not even exaggerating.

Pugging in teamQ isn’t worth a kitten .

Zerging in WvW you’ll do fine on an ele. Small, organized group(5) roaming in WvW you’ll do fine. Anything works in PvE.

Solo roaming is a no go, too many cheese builds on other classes.

You’re going to hit server lag no matter your specs in WvW.

Anyways as a test, I just tried 3900 X1080, every graphics setting max, and super sample.

I was averaging ~20fps in JQ LA(crowded) with 37% GPU usage and 100% CPU usage. Its certainly CPU bottle necked.

i5-2500K @ 4.3Ghz
7970Ghz edition.

I didn’t even know the Immobulus existed before this thread.

Now I HAVE to get one for my mesmer.

Legendary weapons are everywhere now-a-days anyhow.

They are obviously not too hard to get. I grinded/lucked out my one legendary and don’t plan on ever making another. To be honest I’d rather have them leave the current legendary weapons as is then implement the precursor crafting on the next batch of weapons.

I have this amor on my human ele in PvP, its one of the better looking sets there is.

I haven’t previewed it on my charr mesmer yet, I need to do that I guess.

I support any addition of better looking charr armor to PvE.

I guess I’ll keep playing my boring mesmer in tPvP.

If you play against any half way decent team as a zerk staff ele they’ll assign a mes/thief to make you their kitten all game. If you go S/F you have a chance of handling yourself against the mes/thief but you lose a ton of aoe damage. I always want to take my ele, lets not lie here I’m not a good player, so I feel like too much of a liability to my team. I can’t see what the d/d buffs are going to do at all. Other classes will still out bunker and output more damage at the same time. I can see maybe a hard condi counter build thats not totally useless for anything else.

I still rock the ele and do great in yoloQ when I feel like dealing with the windowlickers.

In the end cheese builds are cheese builds. On my balanced build thief I averaged 6K backstabs. I remember landing a ~12k backstab on an up-leveled necro and giggling like a school girl.

I have an average of 4.5 deaths an hour on my elementalist which I’ve played full glass in WvW/PvP for the last 8 months.

Though I only have 640 hours on the character which is about half of my total play time in game.

Signets deserve some buffs, especially in cast times. I’d like to see them as very defined condi option, since written in stone is in the condi line.

Ele is the ONLY class without a viable condition build. Conditions really aren’t my style of play but still.

I’m probably not going to add much more that what you’ve already said, but w/e.

I don’t think there’s even been a situation where I have not carried at least one cantrip. I feel they are flat out necessary. Their level of general usefulness outweighs almost everything else.

Arcane is good in burst build. You either have nice range or a blast finisher. Still kittened about Arcane Wave being ground cast, it just makes it take long to get off which is not something you want on a burst ele. I played d/d burst in WvW because I’m a kitten and I’m inside my fire field so I use to hit one key to get some damage and might stacks. The only benefit I see now is last hitting people just out of range.

Conjures? To be honest I’ve only tried Frostbow, Lightning Hammer, and Fiery Greatsword, mostly in PvE for the first two. Frostbow does see some use in pvp due to its #4 and #5 skill. Fiery Greatsword is useful for a certain exploit and doing a good impression of a “Nike Warrior”. Like you said situational and a waste of valuable space(excluding Fiery Greatsword) most of the time.

Signets? Signet of air for some travel speed and signet of earth for some immobilize but you give up too much for these underwhelming wastes of space.

Going into elite skills, they feel so kittening useless compared to every other class. I mean the gap feels massive. I mean with thief you have projectile reflection and a great stun, mesmer has a moa that great for controlling and nuking a high value target, warrior has a signet that provides a multitude of boons. Even rangers have a long duration root and an elite that gives stability + I forget what else.

Ele has a kittenty tornado, runaway flame sword, and if I wanted usless pets I’d still be playing my ranger.

For tourney a good premade will have you play staff nuke, why because its amazing dps for points, the healing and cc and amazing and with a comes groups u can play within the ranks.. but its realy hard and thfs yes can be annoying!! but there are 4 eles i have seen that play glass staff in com group and make the group op to a point its just /quit when you see their names…… or if you got 3x thfs in your group to just set on them the seconds you see their red name!
Google Snowwhitte or morderger in you tube.. they seem to be doing something right.

I like sneaking up behind them and knocking them off where they’re trying to cast from then instagibbing them with my mesmer.

In tPvP you’ll never see a d/d ele.

In WvW roaming, I think I saw a few d/d eles for the first time in months when they updated the DS trait.

I second the glass staff.

I’ve never been a staff fan, but I recently tried it in team queue and had lots of fun. I can’t really suggest it for soloq.

In hotjoins anything is viable, I took a stupid, stupid, stupid 20/30/0/0/20 build with d/d and zerker trinket and did alright. Glass ele is always a ton of fun.

I use to do solo through 5man roaming on JQ, but it simply became too boring.

It was either ganking a couple random people, dodging deathblob lagsplosions, or getting chased by “t1 ‘havoc’ squads” of 20+ people. Good fights were far and few in between.

Currently vacationing in tPvP, its got its own issues, but at least we get more fights and more even fights.

I’ve been trying to get into the Wildstar beta for awhile now with no luck. The classes look really interesting, but I hear its going to be a grindfest.

i can only assume its better since mages from every single other mmo that has ever existed is better than ele. I do know that the Force in PSO2 is what ele SHOULD have been in GW2, it’s freaking amazing. You can download the Japanese version for free and there’s an English patch for it since people got tired of waiting for SEGA to localize it, which will probably never happen.

The Force in PSO2 was lots of fun. :P

I’m almost happy with what I put together here, and as far as Charr armor goes it doesn’t get much better than “almost”.
