Tarnished Coast – Dissentient [DIS]
All classes
The reason it isn’t there is because they don’t want people using HotM as a quick bank and then returning to their previous location.
I’d be ok if they removed the return to previous location function, leaving only the LA/Gendarren portal.
It’s pretty easy to use WvW for this already.
Not on tier 1 it isn’t.
@CelebrityX From moment megaservers went online it will alway be like this (as long as developers wont find solution for this issue). All waypoints that can be contested are always seen as contested if you are sitting on another map. Game simply dont know what map you will end up if you teleport. You can end up on map where one waypoint can be contested or on map copy where it’s not.
But what about on the SAME map? If you want to teleport from one WP on the map to another one – on the same map, why does it have to use this same system of contested waypoints? Why not simply make sure that you stay on the same world… after all, if I teleport within a map, I usually do NOT want to end up on a completely different world… and I assume most players feel the same.
You always stay on the same instance when waypointing on the same map. If you’re going somewhere really close, it doesn’t even go to a loading screen.
Once you’re in an instance the only way out of it is to: port to another map and then back again, right click on somebody in your party and select “Join in …”, or accept the “Get out of overflow” button (which will no longer happen on mega-server maps).
how long is arah story mode?
Arah is one of the longer ones, it’s also the final step on the personal story, so if you have a character anywhere near that you might want to get him to that final step first.
It probably takes 30-60 minutes.
Go to the armorsmith (where you used to buy runes), he has white helms and shoulders you can skin.
Anet still does a crappy job of directing new players to hot joins rather than tournaments and now we can’t even do so ourselves as rank is obscured.
But, relax and give it some time because these things will happen:
1. Some of the new players keep playing and become experienced players.
2. Some of the new players stop playing PvP so frequently.
The reason it isn’t there is because they don’t want people using HotM as a quick bank and then returning to their previous location.
I’d be ok if they removed the return to previous location function, leaving only the LA/Gendarren portal.
It is sellable, but I don’t think you can ever earn it again, so if at some point further down the line you do decide you want it you’ll have to buy it.
Firstly, I am pleased that “features” have been added to the game. To what extent I will leave for another post. What bothers me is how everything has been implemented.
Wardrobe locker: Great idea which should have been in the game day 1. With a game prideful in horizontal progression, the original skin system was done very poorly. After a year and a half, we get a wardrobe feature complete with a “BUY NOW” button next to transmutes. Is ANYONE fooled into believing this feature was implemented for any reason other than promoting gem store sales?
Account bound dyes: Great idea. Only implemented because they made the decision to eliminate world drops, making dyes primarily available on…you guessed it…the gem store.
Megaserver: Great idea to reduce dead zones. Implemented to reduce number of servers online, reducing cost of leasing servers.
I am bothered with the idea that Anet cannot give players any new features without the gem store attached. It makes sense as a greedy business model, but everything is veiled as a “You voiced, we listened!” addition, where really it was only implemented because it got a stamp of “Yeah this will make more money.”
I’ll go on a limb and say that guild v guild will be added, at the cost of gem store “challenge” tokens or some clever way to add a cost to making the most of it.
I’m half-expecting a gem store purchase for bug fixes in the future. Anyone else feel this way?
For the wardrobe there are ways to get transmutation charges through map completion and PvP without going anywhere near the gem store. The buy more button is there to make things more convenient for you if you do run out, similar to how you can buy extra bag slots for your inventory.
Also, this is the exact same gem cost as it always has been for transmutation … and not only that but you no longer need to purchase another set of gem store armor if you want to use it. I bet some people even bought gems to convert to gold to buy another set of T3 cultural. If anything the wardrobe is going to result in less gem sales, not more.
Unidentified dyes, again ways to get them without going to the gem store. You can buy them with laurels, you can craft hue specific dyes and you can then take 4 of the hue specific dyes and throw them in the forge for a regular unidentified. Also, lots of dyes available on the trading post.
There really isn’t any “blatant money-grubbin” going on here. If there were, the items I listed above would not exist.
(edited by Nabrok.9023)
then sell those gems for gold and buy 2 divinity runes for the price of 1 extractor.
wait, my bad. 3 divinity runes for the price of 1 extractor
250 gems = 17g77s50c
17.77g / 5.8g per divinity rune = 3.06 divinity runes
edit: ohhhh, bigfoot beat me to it.
Hopefully anet realizes this too and gives the extractors a more reasonable price.
If they participated in WvW on the old server, they will have to wait 2 weeks before being able to WvW on their new server. (Don’t remember the source for this, sorry!)
I just rerolled a little over a week ago and am unable to play WvW. Really disappointing.Well you can still do Edge of the Mists though. But yeah, you’re locked out of the original WvW maps for 2 weeks.
Also, this should probably be in the WvW section
For the remainder of this match and the next, so if you transfer today you’re only locked out for 8 days.
There’s an NPC in WvW that tells you which server you will receive rewards for.
Not only that, but you can’t combine armor with weapons anymore…
“allowing for more variation in output” my kitten …
Crap, that just made the mystic forge daily tougher. Assuming it still exists.
My guild has the unlock built (benefited from the instant queue finish bug), currently building a consumable. If you need a world event spawned in NA, let me know.
Well, it’s a new system, I suspect it’ll probably need a bit of fine-tuning around how it assigns people and thresholds for spawning new instances.
So, if you have a skin you can right click and “Store in Vault”, but this destroys the skin and you lose your one free application.
“Fine”, I thought. “They probably don’t have a way to make skins account bound”. But then I turned in my old town clothes and got account bound skins back.
Any chance this could be changed so that store in vault becomes non-destructive?
Salvage? So i have like 50% chance to get it? Or buy those salvaging stuff with gems? Grrrrr i hate this
You’d use a black lion kit obviously.
If its the same stat spread, salvage the old gear and get the runes out.
Not all gear can be salvaged (karma and wvw gear). This is a big problem.
Hmm, so if somebody offered you free beer (or whatever you like) for life, would you complain because of all the money you spent on beer in the past?
The builds haven’t changed that drastically. Whatever worked for you before will probably still work now.
I did a map completion of Timberline Falls last night and did not get a charge. I didn’t see it as an item in the reward popup. Maybe it went straight to my wallet but I’m pretty sure I didn’t get one.
Check your inventory. It should be there. You need to double-click it to get the charge, not sure why they don’t have it just go straight to wallet.
Nice so it’s better than the previous system was.
I agree, but there is a down-side. As you couldn’t use a stone for level 80 gear it did allow me to change the appearance of characters I’m leveling up at will, now I probably won’t change anything until I am 80 and have all my gear.
Price worth paying though, in my opinion.
Map completion gives a charge. Have not tried a city, but it was specifically mentioned by a dev prior to patch that city completion gives a charge.
Select “Equipment”
How it supposed to be a cap if ppl stop getting rewards at different stages? I mean some1 said he stack at 38% at first tier and i stucked at 18% of second tier… I dont know!
No cap on solo and team arena, so the people who got higher probably played some in there as well.
Please add the information, that this progression cap includes ArenaNet hotjoin servers.
I’ve noticed that arenanet always refers to what we call “hot joins” as “custom arenas”, even if it’s the official ones.
Figures. They work on this for months and its still shoddy. Oh and a new zerg fest pvp map. Joy.
Bugs happen. Doesn’t matter how much you test, once you open it up to the world things are gonna come up. It’ll get fixed.
The new map is intended for people doing 1v1 and 2v2, it’s not a team map so yeah, it’s gonna be crap if you try to play it with a team.
Many of us have been refunded close to 1000 dyes. So, we will be getting many duplicates if we open them. Hundreds, in fact. Either sell them for a pittance on the TP, or hold on to them, and hope the price increases.
Or, just give them to newbies as a kind gesture. =)
Now that they’ve been removed as drops and made more expensive when purchased with laurels, the price will almost certainly go back up after this large influx. How long that will take or by how much I don’t know, but it will happen.
I got nearly 400 dyes myself. I intend to open them and sell any I already have, though I didn’t think this all the way through yesterday when I opened about 70 of them and then realized I’d have to store them all in my bank until I’m ready to sell.
I think I’ll just sell a few per week to get rid of them.
See attached screenshot. The base item is “Tome of the Rubicon”, which I believe should be the “Koss on Koss” skin, but as you can see from the wardrobe selection that is not one of my available skins.
Also, I’m 100% positive I had the elegant guild back banner in my PvP locker and I do not have that skin unlocked either.
Unrelated: I can’t remember how the heck my mesmer was setup … don’t suppose you could send me my old trait layout, lol?
The dye’s that the character has, that your other character’s don’t, will be deleted. The rest will stay. If that means deleting all but basic dye’s, you basically killed all your dye’s.
I very much doubt the game will retain any memory of which character added which dyes to the account. Most likely deleting characters will keep their dyes, but not until after the patch obviously.
Sounds like if you need more than 5 guilds, the quality of the 5 you have is relatively poor. While having freedom to join multiple guilds can be good. Having no cap or even a high cap will fracture guild populations even more. There needs to be a reachable point that a person must choose to leave or not join a guild.
Been a guild leader for almost a decade now.
At first I didn’t find the rep system particularly good. Without regulation or solid rep policy, it can be devastating to a guild as you can watch your members evaporate without then having actually left. But after learning how to use it to my advantage I think its a good system.
I do have 100% rep rule for all ranks except the entry level rank. The entry level rank is a way to let people try out your guild before that would not normally commit to one, but still regularly contribute to the guild. We have gained more loyal members by being able to provide flexibility, and having a public “guest for our events” system than any other hard recruiting methods in Guild Wars 1 and 2. This is because we keep our squares green.
We have members and we have guests, we don’t let people that only show up for 2 hours for guild missions once a week sit on our roster, we have them request a guest invite every week. Keeping your squares green is important because thats how people measure how active you are.
If you are providing a superior gaming and social experience members will pledge 100% rep on their own and will not need other guilds except for maybe storage purposes. A rep policy can make or break a guild.
Well, I don’t agree with 100% rep, people have bank guilds, sometimes it’s useful for an extra claim in WvW, and some members are also in one of the big world event guilds.
Our non-officer rank/rep is structured like this:
Inactives: People who haven’t logged in for over a month, will be removed at next review.
Guests: No rep reqs, only a limited number of people allowed at this rank. Will be removed with inactives if they haven’t logged in (no grace period).
Agent: Default rank. If we have an event and you’re doing the same thing (i.e. WvW) you’re expected to be doing so with the guild, and not with another guild or by yourself. Rep encouraged during NA prime-time, not so much during other times.
Lightbringer: Voluntary rank. 99% rep expected, exceptions allowed for bank guilds, world event guilds, etc. This rank is rarely offered, but always granted on request.
We also have an ambassador rank for a select few exempt from rep and inactivity limits, mostly former officers or important people in the community.
During week day prime time we usually have around 30 online with only 3-5 not representing.
and you don’t think that it’s exploiting to transmute the stats onto something else in order to salvage it to get a rune that would otherwise be unobtainable?
If you want a melandru rune on armor with stats that aren’t sold at the melandru temple, you would get your stat armor, buy the temple armor, then use a transmutation crystal to move only the upgrade over and keep the appearance and stats of the other armor.
This is definitely not exploiting.
It is also now impossible, leaving only much more expensive options for obtaining those runes unless you happen to want the same stats sold at the temple.
No, same sigils don’t stack.
Wait what? We can now farm clovers in PvP? I had gotten to rank 10 in PvP, but not played too much as I lacked a team. I’d definitely play it more if I got some reward for me PvE character too.
With the patch today, you will be able to gain mystic clovers as PvP rewards (it’s in the new reward tracks).
This will be the only guaranteed method of getting clovers in the game (though the RNG in the forge for clovers is not bad at all).
You’ll want to check out PvP again in general as all rewards are now unified between game modes and there’s a lot you’ll be able to use (transmutation charges).
Could be any time now. Likely it’ll be later as this patch is so big, but I’d say within 5 hours.
Yeah, I asked this question back when the wardrobe was announced but never got any kind of answer. Of course the question was merged into the massive thread and effectively lost forever.
AFAIK all temple runes are also on some exotic drops, which can be bought from the TP and salvaged, so I think either that or the upgrade extractor will be our only options.
They really should either allow all armors to be salvaged again or at least add the runes to the temple vendors as stand-alone items.
Guilds should be limited to one per character imo, and make some sort of a “group chat” for those who want to be able to chat with their friends and familiy in a single chat.
Every single guild I’ve joined to date have been mostly inactive members, with some exceptions.
Having multiple guilds is just bad in terms of community. If you can’t commit to one guild why join it.
Edit; For those of you who are going to bash my arguments and how multiple guilds are good. Log in and check out all the guilds you have been a member in for more than 6 months.
Multiple guilds would be just fine with only one addition to the game: being able to read guild chat for all guilds you are a member of, not just the one you are representing.
WvW:ers have been asking for ways to get more Ascended materials since said materials were implemented. We do get rather few of those mats naturally after all.
I never had a problem with empyreal, got plenty of that from camps and towers. Dragonite was a problem, but I haven’t even had trouble with that since they buffed the drop from keeps.
Seriously? Who is in charge of loot tables? I’m trashing these things just to keep inventory clear.
Now I guess I will be deleting WvW Achievement chests right off the bat and save me a step.
Boggles mind.
Umm, might want to check the chest before deleting it. Not all of them have empyreal fragments. The tooltip tells you what’s in it.
I’d like to see easier to obtain achievements in WvW, but I also want to maintain my lifetime counts for kills, captures, yaks, and all those things.
This could probably be done by making reasonable one-time achievements for the titles which unlock an infinitely repeatable achievement for the same thing, similar to how dungeon master works.
This bug keeps happening where it seems like if you don’t instantly accept your queue invitation within 1 second, once you do accept it tells you the map is queued again and sends you to the back of the queue.
Is this bug being worked on?
Another queue related, if you’re passing the time in a hot join PvP match, the queue won’t even pop at all but just silently send you to the back again.
Also, could you place the queue position in the mouse tooltip for the B window?
“In PvP, it still costs transmutation charges to swap skins since it uses the same system as PvE. PvP players are getting a one time allotment of transmutation charges based on their PvP rank (i.e. rank 40 get 40 transmutation charges)”
(taken from dulfy.net)
why do we need charges to change our armor in sPvP? the reason sPvP is appealing is because we don’t have to pay and worry about things like this… many of us (like me for example) have several armor sets that I swap back and forth from frequently… so ur saying that I have to pay now to do this? do u know how expensive this would be?? some ppl (again, like me) hardly pve so how would u expect this to work out?…
If you want to keep several different armors for use in PvP, just get the cheap whites that will be available in the mists and apply the skins to those.
You’d need to store them in your inventory or bank, but you’ll be able to switch back and forth for free.
I can’t wait for a good guild API. It would make it a lot easier to gain information. Especially when we can see who is representing, because that’s the one thing I want which is not easily obtainable.
A tip for other desperate guild leaders (:P) you can check for activity on the achievement points leaderboards. It shows you the AP of every member. If it changes, that person must have been online. It’s not perfect, because someone could play without getting any AP at all, but that’s a rather rare case.
Based on that I create reports for our members to see, like who got the most AP in the last 30 days, how often were people online, how many people were last online today/this week/this month, etc.
If a dev reads this: is it possible to store data like that ingame for guild leaders to see? Or is the API solution the end goal and managing guilds is supposed to be done with external tools?
I have (had) a script to parse that information from the leaderboards, but the way authentication works on the web site seems to have changed because it no longer logs in correctly. I haven’t quite figured out how to adjust my script to get it working again yet.
But … authentication changes on the web site … could mean OAuth2 coming soon? Maybe?
It was changed so that the colors fit better thematically.
1. Most players don’t care about town clothes. I could count on one hand the number of times I’ve worn them. Nobody in my guild is concerned about this at all. I’ve not even seen people complain about it on map chat.
2. The wardrobe is awesome.
3. They’re not going to hold back the awesomeness of wardrobe just because a minority of players can’t wear a hoodie anymore. If they did, there would be a MUCH bigger outcry on the forums.
4. If they are investigating options to allow use of these clothes, they’re not going to post it here, because if it turns out they can’t do anything people would be even more upset than they are now.
Try Re logging
I did. Still have normal head.
Don’t just go to the character screen. Close the game out all the way and then log back in.
Hmm, i logged in 20min ago and didn’t see any bobbleheads. maybe random while logging on.
It seems to toggle on and off with each login. If you don’t see them, close the game and then restart. If you don’t want to see them, do the same.
Where are the big heads? Are they gone already? Was there only a few hour window? If so, I’m very disappointed I missed it.
Hadn’t finished my PvP daily so thought I’d jump into some hot joins while I waited for the WvW queue. Big mistake.
At one point I checked I was number 4, a few minutes later I was up at 40. No popup.
It’s been a while since I’ve done PvP while in queue (before eotm), but this used to work … guess it doesn’t now.
Wow, ok, I did read that wrong. That is massively lame. It makes it that much harder to maintain a look for a low level character as you’re leveling them up since you need to blow 3 stones for every transmutation instead of one.
I have to pool my stones together to have enough for some of my characters as it is, and now I’m going to be down by a third of them? It’s like they want people to start farming them ahead of time.
Going to answer here because your thread was locked.
They’re bleeding stones out of the economy this way. You answered your own question in the other thread when you said crystals were harder to get. There are many many more stones than crystals in circulation, if they were to give one charge per stone, people would literally have 500+ charges.
BUT, only for sub 80 equipment. As I said, increase the charge cost to 3 for level 80 equipment and nothing changes for those transmuting things at level 80. The conversion remains the same, while not impacting those bellow 80 who might want to transmute more often.
I suppose it’s possible that it might be 3 transmutes for 1 charge with equipment below level 80.
The vast majority of players have never even put on town clothes. I’ve been playing since headstart with over 3,600 hours played and I could count on one hand the number of times I’ve put on town clothes. I haven’t seen anybody in my guild or even in map chat even mention the town clothes issue.
Yes, a very small minority (no matter how vocal they are) won’t be able to get quite the look they had, but the advantages of the new system outweigh the disadvantages so much.
Also, even if arenanet is looking into doing something to address the concerns, they are certainly not going to announce it here and now. If they did that and then something came up that they weren’t able to make the changes people would go nuts.
Anet mentioned before it takes about 3 months for a development cycle, but that was mainly referring to living story content, features probably take longer. If you want to look at how anet is responding to feedback you need to compare the game now to the feedback from 3-6 months ago.
Ok, so all questions about Transmutations have apparently been funneled into this thread. I’m not going to read through it to try and see if this has come up because it’s already many pages and I don’t know when the merging/funneling occurred.
So my question is: Transmutation Crystals are necessary to transmute level 80 gear. Transmutation Crystals are going to be converted into 3 Transmutation Charges. Will it take 3 charges to transmute skins onto level 80 gear? This goes two ways, one, no it doesn’t so if you bought Crystals you’re getting 3 times the transmutation out of them. Two, yes it does so after the conversion 3 Transmutation Stones will effectively work as 1 Crystal would have, giving us a free/built in upgrade design for them.
Actually this page has the conversion rate for transmutation items into charges. As for the cost per charges to change your armor appearence, it’s one charge per skin. For more info, go here. https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/46419166-Wardrobe
That directly contradicts what was said in the Blog that Transmutation Crystals would be worth 3 charges, while Stones would be worth 1 charge. This implies we’re being gipped excessively for our stones. Zone completion would only be good for one transmutation instead of 3. I have to wonder now which is accurate.
You got that backwards. Crystals are worth 1 charge each, Stones are worth 1 charge for 3. It has always said that, but I made the same mistake as you the first time I read through it.
My thought is that it will just be talking about how they can expand on the new systems in future updates.
