How to raise your feedback chance?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Nabrok.9023

Nabrok.9023

I have a quick tip. When we create Feedback threads, put your feedback in them. Too many folks come to General Discussion and start new threads, without checking to see if there is an on-going discussion.

Our team has been merging and closing/redirecting quite a bit this week, and is immensely helpful for you getting heard, when we can look in one main thread for very specific feedback and questions.

Fluffball has the right of it, too, in regards to /how/ you post. I’ve compiled a lot of feedback which is constructive and critical. If it is LOL THIS SUCKS I HATE YOU #yolo #swag, you’re pretty much shooting yourself in the foot.

Mark, Allie, and I spent a huge amount of time compiling feedback and sharing it with the Dev Teams, and in turn, the Dev Teams lurk and compile their own feedback. Keeping things concise, respectful, and constructive is the key.

Here’s a handy guide on how we like to see feedback. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/How-to-Give-Good-Feedback

And for Pete’s sake…very clear thread titles is a must.

I think the problem is that they are too general. People have a specific question and they don’t want to post it and have it get lost in 10 pages of other questions and responses which are vaguely on the same topic.

Edit to add a suggestion, instead of merging topics just send them all into new sub-forums for the topic.

How do these changes affect Hall of Monument skins and skins like Zenith weapons that are currently zero charge to apply? Am I now going to have to spend transmutation charges to apply these?

Somebody posted a screengrab from the video which showed the text “Free to Apply” on a HoM skin.

Likely zenith will be the same, but if not just withdraw a new one instead of transmuting.

Would all skins of that sort work the same way? Like the Dragon Helm, Aether gear, Braham’s gear, and so on? It costs nothing to apply them the first time, but does the system take that into account?

Withdrawing probably won’t be a thing anymore. Rather than having the stockpile of skins we currently have from achievement chests, they will just go straight into our wardrobe. When you double click a skin, rather than bringing up a transmutation window it will just go into your wardrobe. Transmutation windows won’t be a thing anymore.

If you get a skin, like the ones you mentioned or a fractal weapon, use the skin. Just like you would now.

Say you got the fractal pistol skin. First time you use it you can apply it to your pistol and this unlocks it for you in the wardrobe and is free. Now, if you want a second fractal pistol you can either spend a transmutation charge or you can wait and see if you get another skin drop. If you do get the skin drop you can apply it for free.

Creating an outfit?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

As I understand it, outfits replace the look of your armor and are usable in combat.

So, what if you could buy a gem store item that saved your current armor (I guess this would probably include colors … not sure if outfits can be dyed) as a new outfit?

That way, you could try out a new look, but still go back to your old look at any time free of charge.

Wardrobe and temple's runes

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Nabrok.9023

Nabrok.9023

I don’t agree. I think that these runes will be more easily available. You needed transmutation crystal to gain access to these rune. But after the path you will only need transmutation charge. We don’t have all the detail, but a lot of people will be able to transform their old stockpile of transmutation stone into charge. For exemple, i’m gonna have 91 charges when the patch hit. And a lot of my guildmate gonna have between 30 and 80 transmutation from the transmutation stone alone. Some people like to change a lot of their skin around, but I think that the majority of player don’t use that many transmutation on their character. I wouldn’t mind taking 30-40 of my charges only to gain some melandru runes and sell them. Of course over time, when people will empty their stockpile of free charge, the number of these rune available should decrease.

So in the end, i think the new system will help people to get more of these runes and not making it harder.

I haven’t seen anything about moving runes with the new transmutation system. Let’s look at some examples. Say that I want a set of medium PVT with melandru runes.

Some of the pieces at Melandru’s temple come as PVT, so that’s great. All I need for those is a transmutation charge if I don’t want the temple look.

Not all of the items come as PVT though.

So, under the old system I would buy all 6 pieces anyway, then get some PVT for the 3 items that aren’t, probably from the WvW vendor. I can now use 3 transmutation crystals to combine the PVT stats with the Melandru rune and choose whichever appearance I like best of the two.

With the new system, there does not appear to be a way to combine stats with a rune (only appearance with stats + rune). So, what I have to do now is purchase the 3 PVT items and then acquire the 3 runes through either … upgrade extractor (250 gems), the Trading Post (around 5g when I checked last), or salvaging Reyna’s Armor (more than 5g).

This gets worse when I want to upgrade my exotic armor to ascended. Again I can’t combine stats with upgrade, so now in addition to 6 transmutation charges I need to keep my appearance I need to buy 6 runes, which at current prices is 30g+ or buy 6 upgrade extractors (1,350 gems).

Wardrobe and temple's runes

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Nabrok.9023

Now that karma has been nerfed to hell, they just need to make karma armor salvageable again. It would drastically decrease the price of linen and wool, allow runes to be salvaged, reduce the stockpile of karma people got before the nerfs and make karma a good currency. I can literally see no downside to this.

Very good points. Maybe this is “Removing Restrictions”!? I doubt it though.

Wardrobe and temple's runes

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Nabrok.9023

Nabrok.9023

The temple runes also appear in some random armor drops (like Reyna’s Armor for Melandru), but yes … acquiring those runes is about to get a lot more expensive.

The upgrade extractor geo mentioned costs 250 gems each, which is significantly more than the 40 gems for a transmutation crystal.

Note that with the current system you don’t need to transmute and then salvage, you can just transmute the rune while leaving the current appearance and stats.

cant do anything with them man. I have so many pieces sitting around takin space up in my bank that i dont use anymore. I have expensive runes stuck in some of them and dont wish to waste trans stones on em. Just wish we could salvage this stuff.

You might want to get those runes out soon. After the patch you wont have transmute crystals anymore and would have to use an upgrade extractor, which is 250 gems.

Nabrok.9023

They’ve already announced/strongly implied two coming features that closely match the titles of those blog posts.

“Account Bound” = Account bound WvW experience
“Removing Restrictions” = Equipment is no longer restricted to be either PvE or PvP, and the two separate gear systems are unified into one.

As much as I would love to see more sweeping changes like those suggested in some of the posts above, I’m not optimistic.

If that is the case, then why have separate blog entries about them?

Chances are, there a more information they want to share that warrant separate blog posts.

Judging by the content of today’s post, the significance of the change that they deem big enough to warrant its own blog post is rather small. Both those changes I listed are far bigger individually than what was announced in today’s post.

Yes, but they’ve already been announced. We’ve already had blog posts on those subjects. Granted, those posts didn’t say when those features are coming, but it’s not a huge to leap to assume they are coming with this patch.

Those items may well be a part of tomorrows posts, but it seems likely there will also be more to them.

Right now if I wanted to keep the same appearance and rune on a piece of armor but change the stats…

I think the easiest way to do this would be:

1. Equip the first item (with appearance and rune) so you unlock the appearance in your wardrobe.
2. Use a Black Lion Salvage Kit on the first item to remove the rune. Or use a Master’s / Mystic Salvage Kit if you’re comfortable with an 80% chance of recovering the rune. This will destroy the item, but the appearance is still in your wardrobe.
3. Use a transmutation charge to apply the appearance to the second item (the one with the stats you want).
4. Apply the rune to the second item.

The only time you need to use an upgrade extractor is if you want to keep the original item (not just it’s appearance, but the actual item) and the upgrade.

The catch with this is that not every piece of armor can be salvaged. Temple armor can not be, for example. Which means if you wanted Melandru runes for example, salvaging off Reyna’s armor is now the only option if you want stats other than those you can get at the temple.

And what do I do when I want to upgrade to ascended? I can’t salvage the rune off, so I need to either buy a new one (currently about 5g, will likely go up now) or use an upgrade extractor for 250 gems.

What was a 40 gem cost at most is now either 40 gems + 5 gold (minimum) or 290 gems.

Right now if I wanted to keep the same appearance and rune on a piece of armor but change the stats, I could acquire some armor with the new stats and use a transmutation crystal to keep my current appearance and rune and switch out the stats.

After the wardrobe, it seems like I would have to:

1. Acquire the new armor with the desired stats.
2. Use a transmutation charge (assumed same price as crystals) to give it the desired appearance.
3. If it can be salvaged (not all armors can) break it down with a BLK, or use an upgrade extractor, or acquire another copy of the rune.

Is that correct?

Also, upgrade extractors seem really expensive for what they are … 250 gems for 1? Any chance this price might be lowered as if the above is correct it just got more costly to move runes around.

Status of Fractal Leaderboard?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Nabrok.9023

Nabrok.9023

The status of the leaderboard is that they’ve come to the same conclusion that the community did before it was even released…it will consist of a whole bunch of people that reached 50 and is therefore meaningless.
Now the Fractal weapon boxes on the other hand…that is something I’m interested in as it was the one thing from Fractured that I actually was excited about.

The overall leaderboard wouldn’t be very meaningful, but all the existing leaderboards allow you to filter by guild or friends list and that would be interesting.

I did read that they were looking into some alternate method for the secondary sort other than first there is highest.

Nope, those are escorts. The three you need for the daily are the point defense events. There are three of them …

  • One where the Mystic Forge used to be
  • One in Fort Marriner
  • One on the East side of the map at Postern Ward.

These events are stationary, there are several waves and you must defeat them before the guards morale bar drops to zero.

There is also LS achievements (one for each location) for making sure that none of the point defense events fail for that location.

I personally don’t like adding items that will be forever out of reach for most players.

1.5k – Boots
3k – Gloves
4.5k – Pants
6k – Shoulders
7.5k – Chest
9k – Helm

If you look here : http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Achievement_rewards you will find a lot of place to add stuff that could be retroactive to the players in chest that have no extra award tied to it such as the land marks that I posted above.
I think after 18k there should be a different set entirely being started at that point.

In games I found being rewarded more frequently helps keep me going rather thinking how long it will take me to get to the next landmark. With landmarks being every 1.5k it would help keep people going imo.

But then you’d have nothing to go for after not long.

The way it works now is you get a skin every 1,000. Every 3,000 it’s an armor skin, the rest are weapon skins.

PPT doesnt matter, EoTM or no EoTM doesnt change that. A new map filled with pve mobs sounds amazing for pvp… oh wait, not really that much.

Time will tell I guess. Everything else ANET has done has been absolute garbage, I guess I lost my hope somewhere along the way.

There are no PvE mobs in EotM at all, save for the occasional sentry, guards, and of course the objective champions (keep lords, etc).

Now, I suppose there are a few aetherblades in there for the introduction of the map, but they’ll be gone in a few weeks.

You didn’t mention the other PvE events that allow you to gain buffs for your side. There are also a lot of other types of mobs running around such as words, etc.

Well, you see, everything is a PvE event in some way. Capturing a keep, tower, supply camp, those could all be considered PvE events. I have (jokingly) described WvW as “PvE with other players trying to stop you.”

When people say they have a problem with “PvE in WvW”, they don’t really mean they have a problem with events in WvW … WvW is all events. They have a problem with the way some of these Living Story events have been implemented, which I agree has been handled rather badly.

The new events in EotM have been designed as WvW events though (not just events from PvE maps copy/pasted in), and I believe they fit in well in a competitive environment.

Still feel the amount of PvE in the mists map is ok?

It’s still down … nobody has been in yet.

But as of the last beta, yup.

Living (Story) in a Griefer's Paradise?

in The Edge of the Mists

Posted by: Nabrok.9023

Nabrok.9023

The point is that ArenaNet keeps trying to push PvE players into WvW in the hopes that it’ll increase the WvW population. Many PvE players avoid WvW because they don’t like it.

It creates a tension. “I want to see what’s up with Scarlet, but I don’t want to PvP. Why do I have to go into WvW and deal with this nonsense just to get the story that I’m interested in?”

The attitude of WvWers (“BAGS BAGS BAGS!!!!”) certainly doesn’t help with this.

If you just want story, this update is light on the overall story-arc, so don’t worry about it. It’s sort of like when a Buffy character shows up in an Angel episode. If you just watch Buffy, you won’t miss anything too important if you didn’t watch Angel.

If you just want achievements …. well, WvW players are allowed to have achievements too. That’s just something you’ll have to live with.

Low populations servers

Posted by: Nabrok.9023

Nabrok.9023

Aren’t all server high population already?

They’re all listed as very high population, but the range for that seems to anywhere from almost completely full to a few dozen.

High population server means the total players on the server, WvW population sometimes is like 5 players.

High population server means high number of created characters. It has no bearing at all with regard to number of actual players online. The entire server could have 1 person online and it would still be a high pop server if there are enough created characters on it.

This is not correct, population is affected by number online. If it wasn’t, nobody would ever have been able to transfer into the “Full” servers. As it is, you could monitor the servers and wait for a full one to drop to very high.

Servers even organized “black outs” where wvw guilds would all log off at a certain time, and would request people in LA do the same, so that another guild could transfer in and these were quite effective.

In that case, “Very High” is anything above 20 players online, meaning it is just as meaningless.

Server population is not related to WvW map population.

Anyone care to point out something i missed because surely this isn’t the case.

It’s not the case, you can join it at any time from the B screen, just as you do with any other WvW map.

Ok sweet I was a little worried for a second there

I was able to edit them to remove my e-mail address as best I could.

Here’s what it looks like from inside EotM: http://i.imgur.com/jpzg8aY.jpg
And from outside: http://i.imgur.com/g5YmCjE.jpg

I’d show you a screenshot of the new B screen UI from the last beta, which shows the map buttons, but unfortunately they plastered your e-mail address all over the screen for that test so I won’t be sharing it.

EOTM the aspect of killing another

in The Edge of the Mists

Gonna have so much fun stomping pve carebears, get ready to be spawn camped and zerg busted for days!

That sort of talk is a big reason why a lot of players stay away from PvP/WvW. It’s one thing to get killed by another player. It’s another entirely to get killed and then taunted over it.

Show some class, please.

People will /laugh. Not much you can do about it, ignore and respawn. Good news is they can’t talk to you in map chat or even whisper you.

Versatile WvW Infusions?

in The Edge of the Mists

Posted by: Nabrok.9023

Nabrok.9023

Have you actually looked at the vendors in WvW?

Not to sound condescending but these have been in existence for about 6 months. I have them on all of my WvW characters ascended equipment and they do exactly what you are asking…..so this is a weird post.

Do you know what a Versatile Infusion is?
Please look it up. Bye for now.

Do you??? http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Infusion

as you can see, there ARE WvW versatile infusions (as I have said)…doing exactly as you asked (replacing the +5 agony with a +X vs guards, etc).

So before you go telling me to “Please look it up. Bye for now.” I suggest you use Google and the wiki.

A versatile infusion can be inserted into either a defensive or offensive infusion slot. The infusions you can buy in WvW can only be inserted into one or the other.

Account bound WXP?

in The Edge of the Mists

We are still planning on implementing this. We’ll have more information as we get closer.

Wait…. This wont get implemented with this patch?
Not sure what to do here…..crying in a corner seems reasonable.

It was mentioned in an interview that they’d hoped to get it in this patch but it wasn’t ready.

A similar thing happened once before, don’t remember what it was, but something was delayed because it wasn’t quite ready. The forums promptly filled up with the sky is falling threads and then it came in the next patch two weeks later.

I’m not saying we’ll have account wide WXP in 2 weeks, but I don’t think it will be long.

Versatile WvW Infusions?

I think he maybe wants to go all offensive or defensive with his infusions?

As you can’t have two of the exact same ring, this usually means you need to have an offensive ring and a defensive ring … or you could use the (infused) version of the ring and the non-(infused) version of the same ring.

Low populations servers

The edge of the mists purpose is to be a lobby while waiting to get into the eternal battlegrounds map. ET is the only map which holds any appeal to me. The borderlands are PvDoor, you only run into opposition 2-3 times an hour. The edge of mist as serves to try and convert PvErs into WvWers beacuase WvW is what devs consider the endgame. WvWers probably won’t like the edge of the mists map, it doesn’t contribute to winning the week and its challenges are more similar to PvE than WvW.

From somebody in T2 NA, you have that backwards. People actually defend stuff on their border, EB is often just running around taking undefended towers.

Also, it is not a lobby. It has two main purposes: first, as an any-time WvW map. It’s not just for waiting in, some people will go there and stay there. Secondly as a testing area for new mechanics before they are brought into the other WvW maps.

The challenges are not PvE. It’s the same as the WvW maps, there are objectives, capture and hold them to gain PPT. Highest score at the end wins. They have some different mechanics, but that doesn’t make them PvE.

You do not need to be queued to enter EotM, you can join at any time.

Also, you do not need to go to EotM if you are queued. You can queue for your map of preference and then go to another WvW map or even do some PvE or whatever you want.

Do not think of it as the overflow map, think of it as the map that can have overflows.

Will the loot be the same as WvW?

in The Edge of the Mists

Posted by: Nabrok.9023

Nabrok.9023

EoTM is a replica of the WvW content. The only difference is your battles do NOT count towards the overall score of your server. So there’s no PPT in EoTM. Call it “Casual WvW”

That’s not quite right. There is PPT in EotM, it’s just independent of the rest of WvW.

It’s a separate match that lasts for only a few hours. There’s still objectives to capture, and those objectives still generate PPT.

I play a ton of solo queue and team queue and pve, but i detest wvw. eotm sounds really interesting to me because i don’t think the mobs will be as large. anything past 20vs.20 to me is just monkeys flinging poo at each other.

You can WvW without the zerg. I usually run with 5-10 man groups, sometimes even go out solo.

Why Still No First Person View?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Nabrok.9023

Nabrok.9023

There is a first person view already… bur only in the alpha build of eotm.
(For those who didn’t know: pressing F11, scroll down to “developer options”)

The camera is in the head then and no arms or weapons are shown. You see all effects and the size is correct too; standing “under” an omge as asura was awesome btw
Fighting as an D/D ele is really cool cause you get really “movement sick” after a while.

The other camera option was “duell camera”….
It’s just the normal 3th person view but your opponent will always be in your view. This way you can keep fighting while ignoring the camera movement (cause the game is doing this for you).

First person camera in EotM beta was very buggy. The height seemed wrong (like everybody was asura) and if you died in first person camera and got resed the camera stayed in the dead position while you moved around without one!

The duelling camera wasn’t that good either, if you play with right mouse button down it makes no difference … except … well, sometimes my character would do a sudden unexpected 180 degree turn.

A first person mode is nice for taking screenshots and certain parts of jumping puzzles. Not so good for actually playing/fighting.

Edge of the Mists- Best Update Ever??!

in The Edge of the Mists

I have high hopes for EoTM, but no group/guild queue, LS story elements forced into PvP, and server grouping system all has me really worried honestly.

Will withhold judgement until I actually play it though, but some of the concepts seem half thought out at this point in time.

Looking forward to seeing it!

I’m not worried about the LS elements. It’s true that they weren’t in the beta, so nobody really knows what they are like, but unlike previous LS elements inserted into WvW these elements are specifically designed for a WvW map.

Even if they do turn out to be terrible, they’ll only be a part of the map for a limited time.

The grouping system came from beta tester feedback, so if it doesn’t work … I guess blame us?

Edge of the Mists- Best Update Ever??!

in The Edge of the Mists

Posted by: Nabrok.9023

Nabrok.9023

Best update ever? Please, explain why.

1) It’s a new map
2) It brings new Pve contend and PvP content, not that I like the boring idea of killing mobs but it should please both comunities.
3) For the first week or so PvErs will give us WvWers a bunch of free lootbags
4) It’s maybe a start in the right direction, less Pve and more Pvp content !!11!!

When you talk about WvW, you talk about PvE people most of the time. WvW is nothing like tPvP – 1) You are required to level your character first and acquire the gear, through PvE obviously; hence, it makes pretty much any WvW player a PvE player at the same time.
If you want to experience something in GW2 that requires skill, go and play real PvP, i.e. tPvP. Get a team, play tournaments, get better.
Don’t try to sell me the bullkitten that WvW is anything like real PvP, ‘cos it’s just a PvE community that goes WvW for sheer destruction, nothing else.

Just like someone else suggested here, you seem new to the idea of PvP. The hardcore PvP players tend to focus on tPvP + they despise anything that includes traditional PvE only players.

I’m tired of this fake division between PvE, WvW, and PvP players. There are certainly some that only take part in one game mode, but that doesn’t make you better than anybody else.

The majority of players are going to take part in each game mode.

We’re all guild wars 2 players. Some “PvE players” have armor sets other than zerker, some “WvW players” have armor sets other than soldiers, and some “PvP players” have level 80 characters. Get over it.

Didn’t I say that? I actually pointed to the direction that WvW players are mostly PvE players, while the only truly separate group, that’s not required to complete anything in PvE is tPvP players.

I couldn’t agree more with you.

Yeah, I was responding to both you and the person you were responding to. That probably wasn’t clear, sorry.

There is a lot of elitism (on the forums, I don’t really see it so much in game – on TC anyway) between those who consider themselves “WvW players” and “PvE players”. But it’s also between “PvP players” and everybody else, your “if you want real skill ..” comment. There are skilled players in PvP, WvW, and yes, even PvE. Different skill sets perhaps, but still skills.

Yes, some people probably will bring their zerker gear and build to WvW and get melted. Most people know that those builds don’t work in WvW and will adapt (welcome to a new fun game mode!) or leave (sorry to see you go, but not everybody will enjoy it, at least you tried it).

Edge of the Mists- Best Update Ever??!

I am going to reserve judgement until I have actually seen it and played it myself, but my initial take on it is that you will now have 3 types of game play:
1. PvE
2. PvP
3. EotM (a blending of PvP and PvE)

I don’t see this as a bad thing. I am sure there are a lot of other people out there who are like me, and dabble in both PvP and PvE, but find that exclusive maps are just missing that little something to make it perfect…

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the hell out of both PvE and PvP, but the EotM looks like it’s right up my alley.

I likes a lot of PvE with my PvP.

They drop the word “scarlet” and everybody just assumes it’s PvE. This map is no more a PvE map than any of the other WvW maps. There is no “blending”. Now, they have added some new mechanics to the map which previously have only been seen in PvE, but it is still very much a WvW map.

Btw, the three game types are: PvE, WvW, sPvP.
