Metacritic is a good place to vent too. User reviews do mean a lot to developers and currently they have done pretty well in this respect. If their rating starts to drop due to unrest it could have a negative impact on further players buying and joining the game.
I’m not really sure what you hope to accomplish. Attacking Arenanet isn’t going to achieve anything except convince people not to buy GW2, which will lower their income, which will cause them to have to lay people off and ultimately shutter the game. Are you wanting them to FIX the game? Or are you so hostile because of this patch you’re just wanting to destroy it?
I plan to make sure that other people dont fall victim to their scam. Consumer awareness. They dont want to talk or fix the game – that is their choice. My choice
is to warn about the deception and lies.
This could simply be a mistake that they implemented the idea wrong (lotro) but they wont say anything so in absence I take that as malice.
You go back and grind like they want or you wait and wait like they want.
The point is to stretch the game play as far and as long as possible. That is the reason this was implemented.
There are the choices. There are many suggestions from brackets to LFG tool ect but that would expedite the content so dont expect any soon.

I cant in good conscious recommend this game to anyone when a dev lies about their vision and implements specifically what they wont.
I will now play a grinding game that I enjoy and does it well. I have no issue with it whatsoever but this game doesnt do it good and it s very poorly implemented.

Its been this way for some time – think about the exploiters that got to keep their ill gotten gains. They dont have roll back tech so each one was asked to delete it on the good conscious. Right they exploited the game and they will be good players.

This is about embracing the grind and if you cant leave – or shup it.
This has caused a fair amount of issues in game and in the forums.
Those who have the time to do the grind win the game. The first slot ascend gear wont be released until slot 6 has been obtained by the preferred player.
Need to have and edge otherwise it wasnt worth it right. So that is where it is.
That is where you are wrong – they dont have my money – it is coming back to me.
I will also dissuade anyone from purchasing the game.So it hurts the bottom line.
I have been supporting and singing the praises of Anet. Now I will be adding negative PR everywhere I go. It is not a smart move really – if you think about.
I really hope they do come out and take a stand one way or another I still have time before I get my money back but I dont know if it would be enough.
Nice try. SWOTR was a ghost town when it first went live. Very heavily instanced. Plus there was a monthly fee, and not many really wanted to play for a single player design.
GW2 is not that. Its not even close. So the same arguments don’t work here.

I dont think it was an outside influence. I think it was greed. They saw the #’s and saw over 2 mill box sold. They saw the # and looked at WOW and said it was doable. I dont blame but the decision not to fill out the cash shop and start the treadmill was done a while back. I think they lost sight of things. It is still very possible that it was an outside source.
But had they said they were not meeting revenue expectations I would have happily given $25/month to keep the game the way I liked it – Had I been asked.
But it is done and it is time to move on now.

You need to be in LA doing Fractals. Dont get left behind cause you wont catch up. You will left out with bad gear stats and no one to group up with unless a few of you friends get on at odd hours. This is the gear grind now.

Orr is not fun alone it is very difficult and if you die you nearest waypoint is usually for trinity a map or 2 back. I wish you luck but unfortunately the focus of the game has shifted and there is no reason to be anywhere else other than the fractals. Gear and Loot and progression are all there in 1 spot and no where else.
I agree it is unfair. This game is about grinding now. Let the legendaries stay equal to exotics. You got one too bad – way it goes. Things change it is an evolving MMO from what I see on the forums.
You want the new legendary with ascend stats – go do the grind again.

This is a game and I derive no income from it. That is work.
I play this game for fun and relaxation not to work. If Anet wants to pay me to play I will be happy to do so and grind away. If they can beat my current salary.
I take it then because I make a lot of Money you wouldnt have an issue with Anet allowing me to buy the gear in the game. I have more money than most and earned so I am entitled to spend it right.

However had they come out and said something that population is slowing and internal metrics arent being met and they have come to the conclusion that their hypothesis was wrong and for the good of the players and the game they need to institute a change.
I would probably be still playing. It was how it was done also – they attempted to stealth it in and lie about it. Obfuscate and then put their head in the sand without acknowledging it. That is very wrong.
Be frank up front with the community and You will usually get the support and understanding. If they weren’t making the revenue required then say it.

Does the weapon drop for the whole group so we roll/whatever for it, or does the weapon drop for me/whoever only?
Personally I’m in favor for the first system (like in WoW) because it adds additional suspense if you compete over an item with a fellow GW2-er. Also, you feel way more rewarded/satisfaction if you do receive it.

You guys have the experience I dont. My only other mmo is Tor and how bad that was.
Had they been honest with me and upfront about the change I might have cut them some slack and maybe given them a chance. However putting this in under the radar and stealth patching it was the last straw for me. Had I seen a post like below I would have understood because they were telling me something but now still nothing.

The current trend in GW2 is not what we expected and we need to take some measure to balance this out.
After a vast amount feedback we have concluded that our original hypothesis is unsustainable and that we have need to make a significant change in direction.
We did not expect this however market conditions and player satisfaction deemed it necessary. We are sorry to those who disagree with this but we feel for the better of the game and player base this new direction is warranted.
Because a good player against an almost as good player can lose thanks to gear. That’s garbage pvp.

If you dont have the time to do the grind dont play the game. Or ask Anet to put it in the shop to buy it instead.
I mean that is the point of the grind right? The most dedicated and chosen players have an unmitigated advantage over the scrubs. After they have beaten everyone to a pulp and are 6 slots of gear ahead of you the devs release the 1st slot to everyone.
That is the epic game play and gear gap treadmill. Exactly what this game is.
Now that the betrayal and rage is mostly out of my system, I’m beginning to shift my focus on pity towards the developers that have been there since the start of Anet’s design philosophy. This massive change in vision has made many of them look like hypocrites and traitors. I might have actually understood and maybe given Anet the benefit of the doubt and would still be playing today.But to slip it in stealth like and not say anything is bad.
I like your idea very much but I think it goes against the spirit of the design.
This was designed for those who said we have nothing to do after 80. The point was the grind. So in order to continue your grind you have to do it your alts as well. That way people still have stuff to do even after 1 toon has the gear.
Just my thoughts anyway.
I think it will because it was stated by Chris Whitside that it will be added some time in the far future.
I expect that after 3-4 new dungeons have been released and the dedicated players have that stuff that they will let the 1st dungeon stuff drop in WvW.
That way the Leet games can have an advantage and show it off to people. After all that is the point to reward those that have put the time in to get them.
Otherwise there would be no point to grind away in the dungeon if they drop outside of one right away.
It isn’t ‘easy’ to obtain at all. It involves a grind, be it a direct or indirect one. Some people will be lucky enough to be able to throw gold at anything they need, which isn’t ideal for those of us who don’t devote our time to grinding money.

If I grind my Butt off as a dedicated player I deserve the advantage of better stats. If you cant keep up I suggest you take that up with Anet. Maybe ask them to put it in the shop or something but you wont touch my leetness.
Changing fundamental game design after advertising is Bad faith and False advertising.
Especially because they tried to stealth it into the patch. Dev let it slip that it was indeed a treadmill.
However this game was marketed at a specific group not all gamers – see there is where you have to get over yourself. If you dont do the research before you buy the product it is you who is responsible.
about a ton I dont even want to estimate it is so high. Everyday for at leaset 6+hrs.
However I am not the person the devs want playing this game so I have left and uninstalled. Kinda baffled myself I spent money on the game and they dont want me to play and be apart of the community – really bad.
At some point well after every “chosen ones” have them. So unless you grind your dungeon you cant do the content. After 3-4 new dungeons are released – gear gap- the old gear (1st dungeon) will finally be made available to others who dont grind.
That way the most dedicated players always have an advantage over everyone else perpetually. This is about gear not skill. kitten and LEETNESS.
That is how it is and how it will be. You accept this and play on or dont and leave.

I am done fighting for a game when the Devs dont want me to be in it. It is clearly obvious that I am not who they want to play to game.
That is the new paradigm shift here. LFG Ascend armour only. I hope that the LFG finder has a gear check or that one is implemented on its own.
If you dont have the time to do the grind find another game or spvp cause it is going to get much much worse.Or ask Anet to put the gear in the cash shop.
These are the preferred clients that get preferential treatment and it wont stop.

No gear = No Play
I like the gameplay. Still, Anet seems to proceed to push players in a direction of how they want them to play the game.
If you play a round with warrior and then decide you feel more like going on with your mesmer – you’re screwed, cause the mesmer hasn’t unlocked difficulty 2.
That’s right, it’s not account relative, so either your guildies have to bite the bullet and play level 1 again, or you have to bite the bullet and not play your mesmer in the fractals.
But if you want ascended gear to stay up to par you’re kind of forced to progress in difficulty, therefore forced to play the same class all the time.
Motivation-wise, it’s a lose-lose situation for me in an otherwise great gameplay concept.
But that is the point to keep you occupied and running till you cant take it anymore -then do it again.
Switch to alt and do it again and again.
There is now something to do endlessly.
I am sorry but this is not how a gear grind game works. You will need to spend countless hours and untold resources to gain your new best in slot gear.
This decision was made to make money and it wont be changed for anything. You are not the “most dedicated” player that Lindsey is talking about.

I pre purchased this game based on what anet said was they code they operated by.
They changed that code and included things that were explicitly derided in the previous code. Without any hesitation or warning whatsoever. That is the point here.
It was done in bad faith and a waste of time for me. Others love it that is fine. But the game wasnt advertised and delivered with what came in the patch.Nor was it meant to be according to all the press. What changed? Dont know dont care.
There is a huge difference in gear between exotic and ascended and that imbalances not only pve but wvw as well. But at least the best consumers are happy and that is what this is designed for.
It isnt the end of the world but an end of an era for me where I trust nothing from a company and will now wait and see how a product fairs before I support it.

Yes they are shiftier than a politician winning a landslide. But what do you expect from a gaming company?This taught me a lesson to never believe anything from this industry again. My last game was Tor and now This. So from now on Dont believe the hype and wait a few months before jumping in the game.
Ask for a refund and get your money back – hit them like the politician in the pocketbook.
