^I’ll still be using dual pistols on my thief I don’t care how bad it is, its fun. And I have the satisfaction of knowing I killed someone with the worst weaponset thief has. And I don’t use stealth so I like rushing in all guns blazing suicide mode anyway.
The majority of traits in ele fire line or guardian zeal line are so bad you’re probably better off not taking traits at all rather than take them.
right now, its only use is PvE events to res a few npcs at a time. Other than that, its horrible. Cast time is way, way, way too long.
If you think it’s bad, you’re using it wrong. Can’t tell you how many times it’s helped me secure a kill on someone who otherwise would have gotten away.
Just try not to get us nerfed any further. We’re nearly as useless as rangers at this point.
Fresh air burst build if I’m with a decent group that knows what they’re doing, or if I’m just with a bunch of randoms i’ll just keep my wvw build since it’s somewhat tanky but still puts out decent damage. I’m always the last one left standing if the party screws up and gets killed that way atleast. Soloing that molten firestorm and berserker thing at a level 35 fractal after everyone else died was not fun though.
A warrior complaining about having trouble killing a Mesmer? Sounds like a L2P issue to me. I have no problem killing mesmers on my warrior. And I’ve never even played as a Mesmer, so its not like I even had to make one to learn how they work. I just find it easy to pick out the real one. Who cares if you have to click on them. Clones don’t dodge or have food buffs. It’s very easy to pick out the real one.
I have a feeling this will be a great matchup. YB and Ebay are both fired up from our last match and I know you guys in BP aren’t just going to roll over and take it from either of us. Everyone here is gonna bring their A game. Lets kick eachother’s teeth in yay!
We’re not too happy about the cheaters either. I still think the cheaters are the same person with a couple throw away accounts on each server who decided to just try and stir up crap between us all and cause drama. It’s a little weird that the supply wasting trolls showed up on both servers at the same time, doing the same things, each claiming they were from the other server. It’s probably someone who isn’t from either server and just wanted to mess things up and be a jerk. Sadly Anet is a little slow on banning people we report and there’s no option in the drop down report thing for cheating/trolling.
The alliance was just to crush SBI and demoralize them. It was mutually beneficial for both us and Ebay for them to be 3rd. They trolled both of us and talked a lot of trash and acted like arrogant kittens throughout the whole matchup. So they had to be knocked off their high horse. We’re both fighting to win this time. I don’t particularly care how this matchup goes, we just want to have fun and fight now. I’m satisfied knowing we screwed over SBI, and that’s enough for me.
SBI still doesn’t realize that all this trash talking and acting superior is what caused them to get focused on in the first place by both us and Ebay. Yet you continued with your crap throughout the whole matchup accusing us of secret alliances when nothing of the sort was happening. So we figured what the hell, we really will have an alliance now just to push you arrogant jerks down to 3rd.
If servers were separated by time zones and people were able to pick which server they were on when they first started playing the game based on their time zone, then yes this would be a good idea. But the way things are set up now, this would be extremely unfair to people in different time zones. It annoys me too when we fight all day to cap things and people show up at night and take everything while our whole server is sleeping. But the way things are set up now, it would do more harm than good.
We never had a god mode. That is a common misconception. People were just terrible players back then and had no idea how to deal with ele since everyone wanted to slot nothing but damage skills and go full zerker and not 1 single moron had the sense to use an immobilize or chill on us. We were always sub par. Ranger, engi, warrior, guardian, and yes even thief can bunker better than ele EVER could in it’s prime. We were never god mode, everyone else just sucked. Now people finally decided to listen to what we told them to do from the start to take down an ele, yet we still have the unjustified nerfs to deal with. We SHOULD have all nerfs since beta reverted, they were all unnecessary especially since people have finally fracking realized that things besides pure damage exist.

Warrior. Its the current OP class. There’s plenty of builds floating around on the warrior forum, pick one then bash your face against the keyboard and easily kill anyone who isn’t a warrior while your class passively carries you through everything.
These changes won’t help at all. You still wont see any eles in any tournaments because warriors and necros will still be dominating. the nerfs they’re all complaining about will barely affect the classes at all unlike with ele where every patch is a devastating blow to our class making it less and less effective. We’ll still be useless in wvw except as buffbots or backline nukers, which I find an incredibly boring playstyle. We’ll be useless in PvE except for the gimmicky conjure builds which I also find a boring way to play ele. Warriors will still be the class of choice for dungeons and just about everything else in game unless the change all the thigns about ele that I mentioned before to actually put us on par with other classes.
They obviously have no clue what they’re doing. They asked for feedback and still go ahead with these stupid changes. They need to hire a balance team that has actually played the class in every single possible way. I guarantee that if any Anet staff have actually ever touched ele , it’s just been as a zerg buffbot dropping occasional meteors while hiding behind allies. If any of them has ever bothered roaming alone, all the problems with ele would become blatantly obvious within the first 5 minutes of roaming. We need a balance team who has actually played the fraking class and knows what they’re talking about.

If you are being stunned to the point you cant cleanse your conditions I dont think the immobalize is the problem, you need some stability
He’s an ele. He has 1 stability on a 90 sec cooldown that doesn’t last that long even with boon duration. He’s pretty much toast against a stun spam warrior.
I use s/s/ longbow cond spec, and I typically just drop combustive shot right on top of myself to deal with thieves. I have yet to meet a thief that hasn’t popped out of stealth in downed state after I do that. If they try to run, pindown and fear me, then leap on them and flurry.
Are we gonna have a decent elite sometime?
Super glyph of storms or unstable nova is what i’m hoping for. Imagine unstable nova as an elite. A zerg starts chasing you, fire one off the side of a cliff, suck them all to oblivion just like in aspect arena when fighting morons who don’t know not to stand near the edge.
I don’t know why we don’t have an elite version of glyph of storms anyway when we have an elite version of the summon. Fire would inflict burn and torment, water would inflict chill and heal us, earth would do blind and bleed, air would cause stun and vulnerability.
^That’s because the only people who still play ele are the best of the best. Everyone else gave up on it because of the multitude of weaknesses it suffers from.

I get that servers get stomped on and that’s not fun, but this really isn’t the answer.
How so? It’s war. Alliances are formed all the time in war when against overwhelming odds. Just look at history. I see nothing wrong with it. I think it’s a great idea. I’d like it even better if anet put in some sort of official thing that lets both servers that are getting stomped team up and become friendly to eachother and be able to share supplies, wps, etc. to try and stomp the dominating server.
Kain, Yak’s Bend, Isle of Janthir. all good choices for what you’re looking for. take your pick. NSP is not bad either.
I am on Yaks Bend. I have seen this person around usually with her brother Fastcar and other DAOC guildees. All I know is when they show up, we win much more fights and things go much smoother. I have seen my health go from almost dead to full in 1-2 seconds over and over. no idea how it works, don’t care, love it. I have grouped with quite a few guardian healers and wars, although they do heal, it is not the same or even close. I bit the bullet and joined a 4 man with her healing. Hour after hour we rolled 8-20 mans and never died. It is just like having a “real” healer on any other MMO. I am sold. Point is, if you haven’t experienced it yourself, you shouldn’t be talking crap. seeing it in a vid and actually being there being healed by it are 2 different things.
I doubt this will be a problem. After I finish my daily I usually will go into lower level ones to help new people out. I’m sure i’m not the only one who does this.
Buying other ascended gear besides rings with them would be nice. And I want to be able to salvage all the rings I have taking up space in my bank. We should be able to get delrimor steel or something for salvaging a ring or a few ectos and dark matter at the very least..
Remember in your personal story that ultra golem you use to fight the risen? Yeah, the one with the chest beam and teleport…

I’d love to ride around in that. You’d need to combine 4 omegas together to make 1. We also need asuran nuclear missile silos. Give thieves the ability to paint a big red dot somewhere on the enemy base like the ghosts in starcraft. They’d have to sit still and hold it there till the nuke launches. Thieves finally become more useful in a zerg, and you can nuke the hell out of a super stacked server. The nuke should only be available if you have outmanned buff.

Thing is that they are limited to running very specific builds, like the 3-4 signet warrior. It just goes to benefit them and essentially makes the warrior a scrub class, you know, a class where you can go with the trashiest of builds and have zero skill yet outperform just about anyone.
Well are you really surprised by that? Warrior is Anet’s golden child. These things were probably designed specifically for warriors. I swear it’s devolved from a class that used to take a highly skilled person to be successful with to an easy mode joke class that even a blind chimpanzee could use to win against skilled players in other classes by bashing it’s face against the keyboard.

from easiest kill to hardest would be ele, ranger, thief, necro, other warriors, guardians. Mesmer and engie are tied, they can be annoying.
^Tis true. There is a pretty noticeable difference when im on siege and using condition gear. Bleeds on arrow carts and such hit a lot harder.

Elementalist is first classed discussed. Jon Peter’s seemed to think at that time that ele was fine surprised people thought it was strong. Chap sounds like he would side with how we all feel now about Ele that is a high skill cap so it rewards you. The other players don’t seem to feel the same way influenced by the Players, changes/nerfs to ele happened after that video.

They need to make ether renewal give a block while activating it similar to the guardian heal skill. It should be uninterruptable. And RTL needs to be reverted to original 1550 range and 15 sec cooldown, no other stupid changes to it. Mist fors and the engi equivalent need to be reverted as well. I can endure pain and berserkers stance on warrior and basically get the same effect as pre nerf mistform on a much lower cooldown.

I hope you can understand why that would be extremely overpowered. I’m not being hyperbolic here. Even without fresh air, and even without any arcana investment, a 13s shocking aura on demand, or a 13s magnetic aura on demand, would be crazy powerful. And I’m talking about potential grandmaster traits that only add a single aura on swap. If a single trait offered the four auras, or if coupled with 30 arcana, or with fresh air, or with aura traits, this already OP setup would skyrocket, and if you sum all of it in a single build, it would perhaps create the most overpowered build in pvp history. :P
Just imagine d/d elementalists with perma fury, perma swiftness, perma protection, perma-auras, that can make entire armies reflect projectiles, stun melees, chill everyone, while giving perma protection, perma fury and perma swiftness to allies.

You’re assuming I meant you would get 1 second for each point invested in it. I didn’t mean that. Obviously they would have to work something out. Probably a max of 5 seconds. Which compared to warriors stunning you for 6 seconds isn’t bad at all considering shocking aura has a cooldown in between when the stuns can proc. I don’t think even a 10s aura would be that bad considering that. And shouldn’t it be our turn to have a powerful spec for once? Despite popular belief by terrible players, eles were NEVER overpowered, not even when we ewere at our best. We were mediocre damage dealers who could disengage and heal up. All we could do was harass people and run away. Now warriors can run away and heal up and deal insane amounts of damage and cc you forever. How is that better than us doing minimal amounts of damage and running away? Yet it was OP when we ran and did no damage yet warriros get away with their current BS.

I’ve been saying forever that this skill should be an instant stunbreaker. Glad other people are finally realizing that too. It would sure as hell be a lot more useful that glyph of elemental power being a stunbreaker. Don’t know what they were thinking when they were trying to spread stunbreaks around when they put it on that skill, something you’d want to use as soon as its off cooldown defeats the purpose of it being a stunbreaker.
@Nikkinella while I agree that there are issues with ele your suggestions are a bit OP cause I could grab all of those traits.
Just a quick throw together of what you said. You want elemental attunement inherent a 9 second base recharge on attunement recharge rate and a aura based on the attunement you swap to replacing elemental attunement. You don’t think that sounds remotely OP? Hello fresh air builds perma shocking aura!
I don’t think it would be the least bit overpowered considering what other classes are capable of. And what’s wrong with a perma shocking aura? People SHOULD have to think twice about just carelessly attacking us. It still wouldn’t be anywhere near as bad as permastun warrior. Right now, even the best eles are little more than a nuisance to enemies. Not a real threat. The people you try to kill first when you come up against enemies are the warriors and necros, because they’re the biggest threat. Eles are just an afterthough. And its not like they cant catch us after they kill everyone else anyway. They can shrug off the mediocre damage we do in more defensive specs, and if we’re glassy and can hurt them, we’ll die easily if focused on anyway. Ele should go from being a free loot bag to a serious threat that people prioritize killing first.
So no, my suggestions aren’t the least bit OP. They’ll put us on par with other classes.
When have people ever requested to have an ele in their group for anything other than a buffbot in WvW? Or in pve our only use is icebow in AC.
90% of the people in wvw are warriors because it’s the facerolliest class right now. There have been plenty of times where a commander will call for a veil or a water field and there’s no one around to do it because most are warriors or necros or guardians. And you usually hear someone be like “fine i’ll log off and come back as my mes if you REALLY need one”

No offence but if you’re looking for fights, small fights, there’s freakin’ sPvP! Guess what, there’s next to no siege (albeit trebuchet’s in Khylo and newb-hammer) and every one is fighting! Also no food and/or sharpening stones, no under levels and no stacks of guard leech/bloodlust.
WvW is a game with heavy emphasis on siege.
spvp sucks balls though. Maps are way too small, very limited in what builds you can use there. I don’t use the same cookie cutter builds that everyone else does. None of my builds are recreatable in spvp because of the limited stat combinations you can get there. And standing in a circle is boring anyway. In spvp everyone else is just running boring meta builds that will let them sit in the circle for as long as possible without dying. That’s incredibly boring to fight against.
And there’s no reason why 7 people need siege and guards to kill 2 people. If they weren’t such cowards they could have gotten off the siege and just fought us. They still had the advantage either way. We were just looking for someone to fight, but we cant seem to pull anyone away from large groups or away from siege long enough to actually fight.
I hope these will be buyable on the TP so everyone can use them. I don’t want to grind fractals.

Wow, just wow. I seriously just lost all respect for NSP. 2 people show up at a camp with 7 of you there plus guards. we say what the hell and charge in anyway to fight you. You don’t even attempt to try and fight us, you instantly hop on the ballista and arrow cart you have there and try to kill us. We still managed to down and spike 3 of you before you finally killed us. I thought you guys were above that sort of thing. That’s something i’d expect from SBI, but not you guys.
To me, it’s not so much about the absolute values but more about the relative values. Personally, I take Soldier’s as a mean value between offense and defense. I’d like to do at least average damage, so when I decide to add a defensive item (say, a cleric ring for healing power) I compensate it by an offensive gear item (say, the other ring being berserker).
As for my other stats, I’d like to exchange some more toughness for healing power but that’s currently not an option. All gear with healing power is either defensive or condition damage, so I’m more or less pushed into adding more berserker pieces as well.
But as far as absolute values go, I don’t really have any. Apart from maybe, say, 30% critical chance for my permafury setup.
I also consider soldiers stats as a medium between offense and defense for Ele. I was thinking about replacing my accessories from celestial to another combination but I can’t think of another combo I would want there. I recently changed my amulet to zerker/valk and notice a definite damage difference from my celestial. I like cav rings though I think are good in that spot.
It will be interesting to see what pops up with ascended armor since stats like Pre/Pow/Toughness and cav aren’t available on armor.
You can get cav stats on armor. I’ve gotten a few pieces in fractals. Never bothered experimenting with it though. I was wondering if it would be better to have cav armor and celestial accessories instead of the other way around like I usually do. its random though if you get those pieces and I don’t have a whole set of cav armor to test it out anyway.
They’re too stubborn to listen to most of these suggestions. They’ll just keep giving us crap no one asked for that makes no one happy and is only a sad attempt to fix the problems with ele that we’ve been telling them are wrong with the class since the beginning of the game.
All we need:
1. Higher base hp. As squishy as we are, we will NEVER get out of water with such low hp because we need the vitality. Swap Mesmer and Ele base hp, problem solved.
2. Better mobility. Other classes have so many mobility skills on such low cooldowns its ridiculous. Revert ride the lightning to its original state. We also need mobility options on focus but i’ll get to that soon.
3. our extreme dependence on arcane for reduction in attunement swap. This is remedied easily by removing attunement recharge as something that is boosted by arcane and making our base attunement swap 9 seconds.
Theres only 1 problem after that. What do you replace the attunement reduction with? Aura duration. This is the first step in a series of changes they have to make that will give us endless build possibility finally moving us away from arcane. If you want an aura build you can still spec into it, but its no longer necessary. Remove all auras from all weapons and replace them with mobility skills. This also solves the problem of our kitten poor mobility. Make elemental attunement trait inherent to the class. I don’t know why it was never like this to begin with. It needs to be done, it shouldn’t be a trait. Replace elemental attunement with a trait that acts sort of like it, except with auras. “Gain an aura based on your attunement on attunement swap.” All weapons now have access to auras, and you can extend the duration if you feel like speccing into arcane.
Some people will still spec into arcane just for the water dodge for healing and condition cure. You can fix this easily by combining the cleansing wave with stop, drop and roll. Which is a totally lackluster trait that no one ever uses. Change it to “when you dodge remove 3 conditions and heal for a small amount” It would have the same healing as cleansing wave and remove 3 conditions. Perfect for a master trait in water.
There are plenty of other things that need to be changed, but I don’t feel like getting into it now as thinking about everything that’s wrong with this class gives me a headache. And other people have stated it already anyway, so there’s no need for me to repeat.
I hope you have better luck than I have getting these cheaters banned. I still have yet to see something done about the people who can instantly kill you, or fly, or walk through walls and sink under the ground.
