The Champion Ogotl Priestess in Brisban Wildlands just SW of the vista that you have to get to through Skrittsburg Center. I haven’t seen anyone in many times visiting
This one, I take it?
I actually tried to fight her and found that she’s a machine gun dart shooter, so….yeah, no wonder she goes unfought, along with her being very out of the way to get to.
This unusual one headed ettin type has been spotted in Metrica Province and Brisban Wildlands so far. Interesting. Makes me wonder if there’s a three headed variety.
SPOILER ALERT: Well gee thanks, Moto.

The short story seems to imply that it might be the “shadow” Moto’s doing, rather than the real one. Still, it wouldn’t be out of place for him to do on purpose, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
Yes, it is to be expected, but the difficulty of World 2 compared to World 1 makes it seem like it feel like an awful sharp spike.
Yes, at the time of that post, it was my first (and only) time running 2-3. It probably would get easier eventually if I felt like running through it. But after that horrible first impression on what was supposed to be the easy mode, I just have no desire to do it again.
I’ll just stick to World 1, as I should. And I won’t touch Tribulation Mode.

Then stay on Tribulation Mode if Normal Mode is just too easy for you enjoy it. There are 3 difficulty settings for a reason.
Sounds like you’d prefer it if Tribulation Mode was the only mode, which would spell an early grave for the Super Adventure Box if that was how it was back when it first came out.

Bauble bubbles and baubles are account bound. You can give them to your other characters. It’s the items within the game that you buy/unlock that aren’t.

You don’t like the content, yet instead of playing the content still available to you, you demand that the content you don’t like be changed so that you do like it.
I don’t recall ever asking for Tribulation Mode to be easier, since I don’t even play it.

Funny how they went to all the trouble to make bauble bubbles slower to gather, but making unlocks account bound didn’t occur to them. The only explanation, other than them just forgetting about that, is that they chose not to do that because it would lessen the grind.
Yes, I know, the solution is simple: stick to just one character for Super Adventure Box.
It still bothers me just how far they’ve gone to make having multiple characters pointless.

Even on Infantile Mode, World 2 in general was just annoying and stretched on longer than it should have. I still refuse to ever play Zone 3 ever again. Just wanted to get the World 3 preview so I could see the little story bit, so I thought “hey, Infantile Mode, so I can just get there and maybe have fun looking at the level!”
But apparently Infantile Mode is not really an easy mode, just a “We’ll let you skip most of the annoying jumping, but everything else that can be a pain, will still be a pain” mode.
Right…I’ll just stick to World 1.
It’s an illusion? Perhaps he can just do that in there.
Princess Miya could be 8-bit Moto in disguise, and the shadow in the short story seems to imply that.

Personally, I feel the original design has been lost. Is World 2 not fun at any point? No. But the original design of a fun and in my honest opinion casual experience has been set aside for a difficult and skill-based challenge. World 2 is a stark contrast to World 1. It requires a lot more skill, a lot better timing, and has no forgiving features whatsoever.
Do I look forward to World 3 now that the design has been changed? Sadly, no. I know what to expect from World 3, difficulty and skill-based wise, and it isn’t something I’m interested in.
And I think the GW2 developers will see a huge dip in participation for World 2.
After trying to clear World 2, I agree with you on this. I’ll just stick to World 1.
If this were Tribulation Mode, you might have a point. But this was the supposed “easy mode” and it still felt like it went on too long. And that boss…ugh. I even dodged twice and still got hit anyways. It was basically reduced to “better kill this boss before he uses up all of your lives and coins!”
I’ve gotten to the point where I can handle all of World 1 and the Toad King himself with little trouble on Normal Mode, but apparently I still suck, even though it’s clear that World 2’s length and difficulty are too far upwards compared to World 1.
While a good idea, it probably won’t happen.
No. There is no other use for the Continue Coins. A neat alternate use would be if you could exchange them to Moto for 50 baubles, since that’s their price. But I suspect they’d never allow us to do that.
Well, than I guess I just suck. Like I said, I’m not running through World 2 ever again…just awful compared to World 1. Don’t even care to go to World 3, or what little we get to see of it. Take that evil genie, I’m not a pawn in your scheme!
The krewe in general seem to also have faces different from any that the other asura have.
No, I probably wouldn’t enjoy those. Yes, other games do require certain items to progress, but from my experiences, they didn’t make you have to grind one zone over for about 15 times to get enough for them.
Snip snip “you’re just whiny” “you just suck” “you’re just entitled” snip snip.
You’re clearly not reading either. Whatever. I did finally kill that annoying boss. Somehow. Felt more like I was waiting for it to let me hit it rather than anything I was doing. Well, regardless, I won’t play that zone again.
(edited by Nilkemia.8507)
I think you are obviously trolling.
If not, take a look at this:
20min run, world 2, zone 3 tribulation difficulty, pre-nerf
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUr-JYdQKMINow its easier because they nerfed a lot.
And I think you’re not reading at all. I’m not on Tribulation Mode.
Did you go to world 3-1? There is a bit more story(it ties nicely in with the story bit ) and 2 achievements attached.
Um, no. Mainly because I can’t. The whole reason I’m even slogging through World 2 at all is to unlock that little bit.
And, as if enduring all that wasn’t enough, I reach the boss. This guy is supremely annoying. Things start off fine, just hit his projectiles back at him, since nothing else works. (Note to developers: Making boss fights that render nearly our entire inventory pointless is stupid and not challenging in the slightest, just more cheap artificial difficulty)
I get the boss to half health, and he decides to be a complete jerk. He uses a cheap charge move that you can’t outrun, and even if you dodge, he just changes directions and hits you anyway, turning the fight into a battle of attrition. Make sure you have 2-3 Continue Coins for this part, because that’s the only way I managed.
And even after that, the boss goes “I’m not left-handed, I’m a frakking dragon!”
Even now, I am still stuck there, waiting, cooling off, because I basically had no idea what to do and just kept dying to all the lightning… if this is an example of what future levels will be like, than I don’t want it anymore. Just wanted to finish the levels and get what little story there is for this, and I can’t even do that with out more misery. On Infantile Mode, of all things.. sigh.
I’m still not buying that stupid Infinite Coin. Now I’m beginning to think that the people arguing that the coin essentially means pay-to-win might actually be right, in a manner of speaking. This is how bad that last zone is.
Well. The Super Adventure Box is ruined for me now. I had to do this on Infantile Mode just because I wanted to finish this thing. And even now as I type this, I’m still stuck trying to finish it.
Seriously, who designed this place? It is too long. Even with the happy clouds helping me out, it just felt like this level stretched on longer than it should have.
The enemies are still annoying to deal with, especially when ranged ones knock you off the rainbows to your death, and the ice means you can either not get enough momentum for a jump and kill yourself, or go too fast, overshoot your jump, and still kill yourself.
And I’m still irritated by needing to get a torch to even get to the rest of the level. There’s a great idea. Make us require an item, that in order to even buy, we have to find a specific shop back in World 1 Zone 3, because just having the bag expansion available anywhere after getting into World 2 just made too much sense, or was too convenient. And how many times do we use it? Twice. …… ….what was the point?!
That’s it huh? Rather predictable. As long as they don’t find out we did it, we should be fine.
That’s still tedious for me. Go ahead and spoil it, I won’t care.
Obviously in a spoiler box, so others don’t get fussed over it.
I haven’t gotten to that part of the story yet. I haven’t cleared World 2. Would be nice if it didn’t require a 400 bauble item..
>.>
That happens all the time in the acid and the rapids, which is part of the reason why I don’t like either 1-3 or 2-1. Even when you think you’re jumping just right for it not to hurt you, it’ll hurt you anyway if you stick in it too long.

13: Another thing I noticed when I switched to an alt for the Super Adventure Box is that unlocked items inside the Box are still character bound, while the chests and dig sits were made account bound.
While this was the same the first time the Box came out, and the solution is simple (Use only one character for the Box to keep things easy to keep track of), it still sends a bad impression that they couldn’t be bothered to make the character unlocks account bound too (which would’ve been a nice touch), while they went to all the trouble to make it harder to get bauble bubbles.
I don’t like to complain, but it’s things like this that makes it feel like they lost the original point of the Super Adventure Box, which was to be a neat fun thing to go through for players who might like that sort of thing. Now they think that since people liked it the first time, “let’s try to milk this for all its worth!”
I’m sure they don’t all think that way, but still..things like this and all the other stuff I mentioned before really just give off that impression.
Is he competing for the Snaff Prize this year? It wouldn’t matter, we’d still be the Snaff Savant since we won the Prize before and we’re friends with Zojja anyway.
Well, I did a few of those too and those never dropped. They should’ve just had all the parts have an equal chance of dropping from enemies, or even be able to get them from inside the Super Adventure Box itself. Not everyone runs dungeons or jumping puzzles, but just about everyone fights enemies.
I have gotten approximately 15-20 wigs and none of the other things to drop. I had to buy the other parts to make her. That’s my only problem with the process of making the mini, that one part dropped for me a lot and I had to buy the rest. And they seem to drop for most of the other people I talk to.
We have to clear World 2 first, I presume?
Well, looks like I’ve got some grinding to do.
I think that might be a joke on their part. Either that or it’s because you can end up fighting a lot of them at once, or they’re killing people when they’re a.f.k. or something.
o_O
Risen Thralls kill the most people? Really?

So no World 3 or 4 in this Living Story eh?

I don’t care about Tribulation Mode. As I pointed out, I just feel that modes designed to kill you off in cheap ways don’t really count as challenging or hard in a “good” way to me. However, I am aware that is the way it was intended by the developers, and that my idea of hard doesn’t fit with others’ ideas of hard. So I simply stay out of it, and don’t talk about it much, if at all.
I’m glad it’s there so that the people who complain about things being too easy. Although, the recent patch seems to have them up in arms again.
As for the skins themselves, I just feel like they could’ve done more to make them more special than just taking the original/new skins and switching the glow colors. Maybe design them to be more themed to the bosses they represent.
The yellow “Storm Wizard” skins could’ve had tiny 8 bit clouds with lightning around them, have a yellow lightning pixel effect, or something more than just being yellow recolors. Same with the Toad King weapons, though I’m not sure what effects they could add that would fit the Toad King..maybe something with those lilypads, or the poison water effects? Eh..
I do however agree with your point that Infantile Mode really isn’t easy enough. It’s less of an easy mode than it is a “Skip most of the annoying jumps” mode, while the enemies/bosses/traps will still mess you up all the same regardless.
(Hmm, do the difficulty modes affect damage from enemies? That might be worth another thread.)
Also, the fact that you get no glorious chests in Infantile Mode really just says: Ok, you can play it on easy if you just want to get to the end…just don’t expect any rewards at the end. Makes Infantile Mode kinda pointless, really.
Has it been ruined? No, not entirely. Is it as good as it was before? Well, that’d be subjective. They added a few good things, but added quite a bunch of bad things too. I still like the Super Adventure Box, but I feel that they need to cut down on the bad stuff so people can just play and enjoy it at the pace they want.

Can you turn the effects off in your graphics options? Since I played on the lowest settings most of the time, I didn’t even know about the fizzle effect until I shifted my effect settings up a little. I think they’ve been around since the weapons themselves, unless they changed that.

Yeah. Just some random thoughts. I honestly want the Super Adventure Box to stay as a minigame too. With the short story and Moto’s old krewe downstairs though, it seems like they’ve got something in mind. Although, it hopefully won’t turn out to be too crazy or involve a plot threatening Tyria, and just be its own thing.
Aww, you’re the only feedback I got. It’s because of the “Nonsensicalness” warning label I put, wasn’t it? I don’t care if Spellcheck doesn’t consider it a word, it’s a word now!

You do have good points there. It still doesn’t quite make the coin “Pay to win”, but I understand where you’re coming from on this.
Honestly, I think the infinite continue coin shouldn’t exist. It nullifies the regular continue coins and only works with this temporary content. I see no reason to use gems (from gold or real-life money) on something that will only work for temporary content.
It’s like the Royal Pass for that VIP section during the Queen’s Jubilee, except the coin actually is useful and the Royal Pass wasn’t.
What if Princess Miya turns out to be evil?

Wild speculation time! Beware: Nonsensicalness contained within.
The short story focusing on Moto and his making the Super Adventure Box seems to imply that something’s off with Princess Miya.
What if we free her, then she convinces us to take her out of the Super Adventure Box? Moto might be elated at first to see his creation outside of the Box, but then she reveals herself to be 8-bit Moto in disguise!
“At last, I am free! Thank you, my creator. Your pride, rage, and selfish ways, they gave me form and substance! Even outside of the Box, I can still exist and remain. And now I will take your place and Super-Adventure-Boxify Tyria, and there’s nothing you can do to stop me!”
S/he might trap Moto (and/or us) inside the Super Adventure Box for a time, leading us to find a way to get out, either trying to contact Moto’s old krewe to help us, or getting the help of the friendly NPCs inside the Box to make a way back to our reality. Lord Vanquish could turn out to be a good guy, he was just trying to keep us from unleashing the princess on the world, and didn’t warn Moto because he thought Moto wouldn’t believe him and erase his memory/data.
After we escape, we find out that 8-bit Miya/Moto has pulled out all the enemies as well as the bosses from the Super Adventure Box and used them to make his/her army to conquer and Super-Adventure-Boxify Tyria, sending them all over using magical portals from the Box.
The story would culminate in us figuring out how to send all the animals/bosses back into the Box and de-rezzing Princess Miya/Moto to save Tyria from her/his 8-bit wrath.
And then after all is said and done, Moto could reward us with some special skins like giving us a choice of the flaming sword, power glove, etc.
Right…that might be even more nonsensical then the whole Scarlet fiasco.
Still, feedback? Thoughts?

Infinite Continue Coin != pay to win
in Super Adventure Box: Back to School
Posted by: Nilkemia.8507
Hmm…I’ll have to agree with the topic creator on this one. While the coin does pretty much nullify having to get extra lives, you can still do without it.
That being said, due to the temporary nature of the content, the potential tediousness of grinding baubles for extra lives, and that it apparently reduces Tribulation Mode to an exercise of just killing yourself over and over to find the traps and then avoid them, it isn’t hard to see why some consider it “pay-to-win”, even though you still have to put effort into winning. It just removes the severity of the consequences of dying over and over.
The timing of it appearing with Tribulation Mode just adds fuel to the fire in that regard.
I think that after completing your Personal Story (or at least the Source of Orr, since you need a group to finish the last part), you should have to option to replay story missions or change certain parts of your characters choices so you can see what other paths you could’ve taken. They could make a fractal portal or something in your home instance that could allow you to do this. It would be really neat, at least to me.

I can’t believe a thread like this exists. One of the few good changes to the Super Adventure Box this time it came out was that it had all 3 difficulty settings. From my experience in World 2, the difficulty curve got ridiculously steep in Normal Mode of all places. And I didn’t even run across the bugs that some got.
I really don’t get the people complaining about it being too easy now. You still have Tribulation Mode, which from what I hear is pretty much what you hardcore “it’s too easy if we don’t die in one hit all the time” players wanted. Why are you complaining about changes to Normal Mode? Especially when these changes seem to be towards things that genuinely caused problems?
Sigh. Even when they get their hardcore “kill you all the time” mode, they still aren’t satisfied. I’m beginning to think they really just want everything to be harder just so they can pretend they’re better and look down on the rest of us simply because they can, and boost their own pitiful egos.
Yes, for the most part. The time-gating account bound once per day thing also aggravates the problem.
