Ehm and how is that a bad thing? Do you want a conidition spec not EVER being able to kill someone just because he uses some sort of condi cleanse trait/skill?

No, I would like to not waste a slot or two putting in condition cleanse skills only to have them rendered pointless by another 5 or 6 conditions put on me right afterwards.

And, aside from certain builds who can keep conditions off of themselves very well, or certain utilities that just negate them altogether for a time (Berserker Stance), condition specs tend to kill nearly everything now, it seems.

Seems like you could really benefit from traiting or slotting a condition clear, then, eh?

I’ve noticed that conditions can be reapplied.

This. Conditions can be applied at a much faster rate then you can cleanse them, even if you build with such a thing in mind.

Of course, the only uses PvP has are reward tracks and dailies.

You craft the precursor, not the legendary weapon.

Why Dragon's Stand is permanently empty?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Nilkemia.8507

Every HoT map is basically a LFG map. If you don’t get into a populated map, your out of luck for 2 hours. One of the biggest gripes I have with HoT.

Everyone is like oohhh no its not empty. You mean on the meta map when the event is going?

Please lets have a entire map dedicated to 1 chained event. and then lets do it for 2 other maps.

The boss at Anet was like brilliant!

As I have said at least twice on these forums, I have joined a DS squad early only to have most people join a different group and I’m stranded in a map that doesn’t have enough people.

The problem with DS is that at most times there are only enough people for 1 map, any “extra” people who can’t fit in that map will not be able to do the meta.

People will say “spam and you’ll get in”. Maybe sometimes, but I have spammed for 10 minutes straight and never got in.

What it comes down to is that this is not a great mechanic.

The map is empty because of shockingly bad design. You really should not have to use unofficial website timers and a RL alarm clock just to queue up and participate in an open world meta. I’m hoping the devs have learned the lesson…

ALL of this. +10 if I could. Gating an entire map behind one big meta event was neither well designed nor fun. One of the biggest problems with HoT is that they forgot that one of the things that made GW2 great was that it encouraged grouping without forcing it in most cases. In the HoT zones, you need anywhere from a small party to an entire map to get most things done, and the coordination required can be problematic for some, especially during a meta event where if one lane/part screws up, everyone suffers for it.

MY question is why waste your time? Not really worth it unless you still the mastery stuff……

Map completion. Hero points. Mastery points, like you said. Certain weapons/skins that drop from there, like the boss weapons, or the Plated/Machined collections, which require you to go there twice for each Machined weapon, which you need for the specialization collections as well. All of that, gated behind a not fun meta event.

How to make the game world more interesting?

Nilkemia.8507

I cannot play in the open world content without falling asleep. I would love if there was anything at all to spice things up. Here’s some suggestions:

1. An invisable superspeed trashmob that takes 20+ people to kill and roams around the zone, invading people’s tushes, one shotting them and maybe cursing them.
2. Open world pvp. Do whatever you want to encourage friendly behavior, buff non theives, whatever. Disable wvw for like 1 hour every 8 hours and enable open world pvp for an hour or something.
3. Let people do maplestory style trashmob summoning. I want to be able to summon like 17 leaf archer guys in a safe area. C’mon it’s like 300 copper to res. Disable it in the 1-15 zones, the mists and the main city if you want.

So much of the map is being wasted by not spicing things up IMO.

1 : No.

2 : Hell No. WvW is out there if you want that.

3 : No. Also, it’s not 300 copper, it’s 3 silver. Get it right.

I think Aion would be better suited to your needs, if you feel like playing that garbage. If you’re looking for something “spiced up” here, then the HoT/LW zones, fractals, and raids are around.

I don’t see the point. Personally, I consider the newest version of Lion’s Arch or even the destroyed one (with all those crafting stations) to be an improvement over the original. And they already have a Halloween’d version for the newest version as well. I suppose they could pull up the Halloween version of the original Lion’s Arch, but it could turn out to take more effort than it’s worth.

New playable race (theory, possible spoilers)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

From my perspective, the only non-playable race so far that has any real chance would be the tengu, since they apparently were going to be a playable race in the beginning, along with having their own space for a starting area and such.

Any other race ideas so far lack enough to do anything with in this regard….and even in the case of the tengu, it would be an expensive endeavor.

Subjective.

Challenging can be fun, it’s just not what you find fun.

As much as i would love to agree with the OP, previous and some current experience says people hate change and “challenge” so much so that they either quit or forum warrior to nerf it to the floor.

Challenging can be fun, if done right. But it usually isn’t, thus becoming frustrating and discouraging. For all the things ArenaNet does well, challenge is not one of them, and that’s not what drew people to this game as far as I can tell. And the people that wanted challenge got fractals, Heart of Thorns, and raids, so making open world harder seems not only pointless, but the “harder is better” people wanting to impose that on everyone else.

Too many quitters

in PvP

Posted by: Nilkemia.8507

When you find yourself 100+ points behind the other team, what’s the point? Comebacks are far too few to be worth the trouble of going for, especially if you’re stuck with an unorganized or incompetent team, and thus your own skill means next to nothing in the long run.

You want less quitters? Try finding a way to keep teams going and motivated. My opinion and all, but harsher penalties sounds like a great way to make PvP even worse than it already is.

[Spoiler] Marjory

in Living World

Posted by: Nilkemia.8507

Nilkemia.8507

Ugh…regardless of the reasoning behind it, this little bit felt stupid, and out of nowhere. She has no real evidence that he actually returned from being dead. We just know that he was weakened from the last time we saw him, though he’s clearly found a way to live this long (then again, we have no idea how long mursaat live normally, and with their magic, they could extend that.)

Ultimately, Marjory is trying to shadow a being, who, even without a portion of the bloodstone’s power in him, probably has a few ways to remove someone that gets too nosy. And so far she’s given no clear motive for doing so (we can speculate about it, from resurrecting Belinda to wanting to learn something from Lazarus, or…gods forbid, those fools that think a sudden attraction to a Mursaat somehow makes any sense), and no backup plan or safeguard for if things go wrong (which, unless the writers genuinely plan for Lazarus to be a good guy now, things will almost certainly go wrong.)

Shared inventory slots on thier own line...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

….really?

I for one was annoyed with how the Shared Storage box mixed with my others at the top, making it seem like I had one excess slot at the bottom when I didn’t, which made it look wonky depending on how I shrunk the window.

That being said, I still appreciated the free slot and didn’t make a thread raving about it…Personally, I think being able to distinguish it from my own bag slots would be a good thing. Although I feel they should’ve given an option to put it either at the top or bottom of the inventory, I’m happy enough with not potentially mistaking it for one of my bag slots.

I dunno. I’ll have to check it out after this long update, but it feels like this is being blown out of proportion

80lvl boost -throwing all maps into garbage

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Nilkemia.8507

Nilkemia.8507

Um, what?

An instant Lv80 item (albeit one from buying HoT) does not hand everything else in the game on a silver platter…if anything, I’m more troubled that those using it will likely be new players and thus not know what’s going on yet.

That aside…most who bought the expansion are probably people who have played GW2 already to the point of reaching 80 at least once, and thus giving them an instant 80 item doesn’t give them anything more than that.

Unless this instant 80 item also gives out a free full exotic set of your choice of stats or something, I do not see how this really hands out anything on a silver platter, besides saving you time leveling up.

Why haven't you built a Legendary Weapon?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Nilkemia.8507

Nilkemia.8507

Well…

- Most of the legendary weapons either don’t interest me/look like crap, or don’t fit with my characters.

- No reliable/reasonable method of precursor acquisition. And no, that garbage crafting system for precursors doesn’t count. Without the precursor, any other progress being made towards a legendary is pointless in the long run, and the precursor requires either luck…or a lot of gold.

- The sheer amount of materials needed to make the components was simply not something I felt like focusing on for long. Although I probably do have the material necessary now, the precursor issue still makes it feel pointless to bother making the components right now anyways.

What if HoT maps weren't as difficult?

Nilkemia.8507

The biggest difference between HoT and Core Tyria is that you cannot facetank every enemy or run into zergs of enemies. I don’t think that requiring the player to position himself and think while playing is a bad decision by anet.

Contrary to what you think, I don’t “facetank” enemies or run into swarms of them. I try to position and use line of sight to my advantage. However, depending on where and when fighting the enemy, there is sometimes no real cover for any advantageous positioning. And even when there is, the sheer number of enemies around when an event scales leave few options that work in one’s favor.

And, it doesn’t change that quite a number of the enemies either hit harder than they should, can CC often, or are just annoying to deal with.

MadRabbit’s statement is accurate. The enemies aren’t harder in the sense that they’re smarter in any way. Their skills are either just really powerful and spamable, or they come at you in such numbers that you can’t reliably fight them off while also having cheaply powerful spamable skills.
