in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

The title is misleading. There is no limit on how many spirit shards you can hold in the wallet (as far as we know), so it’s not as if you’re forced to use them. And even if you feel that compulsion, there are ways to use them as others have stated.

Well, he stated he was testing out the RNG after reading about how many people spoke of the better loot from the Forge on their Beta slots, so I presumed he also did the same on his own. Also, I don’t think the Beta slot would restrict you to just a revenant..I think.

I pre-purchased the Heart of Thorns Deluxe edition at a Gamestop and have tried to redeem the code I received multiple times, no no avail. The first time, the Redeem Item Code window wouldn’t even appear. And when it did, I tried entering the code as I had it, then tried removing the hyphens, only for it to do nothing when I clicked the Redeem button.

So, I have effectively wasted 74.99 for nothing, because of an apparently game bug at best, or an erroneous code at worst.

So, anyone else having this problem?

Awful Female Human Heavy Armor Art Design

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Nilkemia.8507

Why is it that all of it looks terrible. All of it, 100% of it.

Your opinion.

Sure, if I wanted to look like the Terminator, Robocop, Judge Dredd, or Gregor Clegane in full armor, I’d be in hog heaven, but why isn’t there something a little more inspired? I mean, some of the sets of “heavy” female armor in GW1 for paragons and warriors looked really good. It’s pretty disappointing that they couldn’t do the same for the sequel.

Um, what? Aside from the Aetherblade heavy skins I don’t recall anything that would make you look like any of the characters you just described. I can’t really speak for GW1, having not played it, but if there were some armors you liked there, try linking them or naming them at least so we could look for them?

I mean, Aion is under the same parent company as ArenaNet (NC Soft), and I’m not trying to compare the two since their art departments aren’t associated in any way, but why couldn’t our game take some cues from that—

No. No, no, no. I’m resisting the urge to label this a troll post and be done. Aion is garbage. Utter garbage. Let’s not take cues from an inferior, gold seller infested game that did nothing right.

Which parts of the lore annoy or depress you?

in Lore

Nilkemia.8507

- Gavin’s death at the end of the White Stag storyline, and him being forgotten afterwards.

- Why didn’t Caithe and Trahearne think to take Malyck to see the Pale Tree at all? She could’ve looked into thee Dream herself, or into his memory to see the exact spot we needed to go to, and this would’ve probably helped stop the Knight of Embers from finding out too.

- And we never see Malyck or get mention of him/his tree or people after this storyline is over.

- The way Trahearne is inserted into the story at Claw Island. He himself is not a bad character, but they really needed to do more to make him not come out of nowhere at Claw Island.

- Demmi Beetlestone being unimportant to the plot after her rescue. I kinda hoped she’d become our partner, with us being the mentor like Tybalt was before he died, but nope, she just hangs out in the Chantry of Secrets after that.

- Our mentors’ deaths. With the exception of maybe Forgal’s, they really felt pointless.

- Trahearne summoning 5 flesh golems and a shade to break through a Risen trap, and then never doing that again, ever.

- Scarlet Briar, the Invasive Weed of Living Story Season 1. Even after death, she still haunts us via a terrible Twilight Arbor path, which replaced a previous one, and a disappointing/annoying fractal.

Caithe’s sudden yet predicable betrayal, along with her just not telling anyone her plan for no reason at all, as well as the Seeds of Truth/Point of No Return revealing that she was a complete idiot for ever seeing anything in Faolain at all.

- The stupid “reveal” at the end. “We came from the Jungle Dragon cause my Dream said so.”

“Wynne was the first Night bloom, which somehow explains why only she got this Dream when no one else did ever for all this time, even though that disregards how we thought the Dream worked.”

“I now know that Wynne considered her Wyld Hunt to be protecting us from this information. In hindsight, she did an incredibly poor job of that.”

- And to think, they allegedly had this reveal planned ever since the beginning…yet they still didn’t do it well. I guess all that time wasted on Scarlet may be to blame.

It didn’t work for Aion.

It didn’t work for Tera.

It didn’t work for Star Wars : TOR.

It didn’t work for ESO.

And it’s not working for Wildstar either.

Part of the reason I even started on this game was the “just buy it and you can play it with no subscription” part.

Another stupid annoying scavenger hunt that I have to either wiki or go to Dulfy to figure out. No, just no. This actually turned me off to the new Lion’s Arch.

I managed to get a few on my own, then got to the one in the flower ledge and just got fed up with it. I pointed out how annoying it has, got flak for that, decided to tab in and out to find a few more with the guide, and then just stopped because I realized it wasn’t fun.

Take note, developers: Just because I can just google/wiki/Dulfy the answers doesn’t mean I want to have to do that. If having to use those is the only way to get it done in a reasonable time, then maybe, just maybe, you messed up when making this.

Please, no. Just no. This annoying scavenger hunt for these things actually made me annoyed at the new Lion’s Arch, despite considering it a better version than the ones I’ve seen previously.

And then I got to that one on the flower ledge that you can’t shoot unless you hug the wall by it and shoot at the edge (which really doesn’t look like it should work), asked for a bit of help, and then ended up having to go the Dulfy to get that one. I pointed out how annoying it was and got flak for it. I ended up basically using the guide to find a few more and then got sick of it. It just wasn’t fun, the only reason I even considered it was for the item that eats Dragonite ore.

Seriously, just because I can just look at the wiki or “Dulfy” to figure out something doesn’t mean I want to do that. But that looks like the only way to get it done reasonably quick, which is a sign something was done wrong.

But, clearly I’m just an idiot whose brain doesn’t fully work.

Suggestion: Give us something to do

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Nilkemia.8507

1) Bring back Super Adventure Box World 1 and 2 including Hard Mode, so that people which had yet no chance to do them can do it now and those which weren’t successful last time with Hard Mode get again a new chance to get the Achievements. now. The content already exists, so its no work for Anet to reactivate already existing content!!

Agreed. Also, have all the SAB related rewards available this time, instead of leaving the rewards from past iterations out.

2) Bring back the Crown Pavillion, also already existing Content, Lions Arch needs more funds to be rebuild xD ^^ Lets guys of DR responsible for that fund have miscalculated it >.>

Only if it’s the first version from when they originally made it. The second variant was made so less fun/rewarding. And this time bring all the rewards back. I’d actually have wanted some of those rune/sigil recipes for some of my newer characters, and players who started after this event deserve a chance at those as well.

3) Improve already existing Achievements, like the Weapon Master and Slayer Achievements. 1000 Kills of a creature isn’t much, also 1000 kills with certain weapons inst much. The PvP achievements show, that you can unlock new achievements after maxing a previous achievement. Do this with these achievements also too.

Kill 1000 Bandits to finish the Bandit Slayer Achievement, which unlocks then the new Bandit Annihilator Achievement that requires you now to kill for example 2500 Bandits.
That way you could easily give everyone again something to do.
Do the same for Weapon Kills.

Hmm…not something I’d feel like doing.

4) Make again a WvW Tournament
alot of people want to earn more constantly the stuff thats required to unlock their Heroic Mist Weapons..also please add as new reward also a fitting heroic mist/heroic armor set!! Whats such a weapon without a fitting armor set to it …???

No. I’d rather they make another way of acquiring these claim tickets that doesn’t revolve around those dull tournaments. A Hero/Mistforged armor set is a nice idea however.

5) Start the Rebuilding of Lions Arch as a huge Meta Event that takes a longer time.
Remember the living story about the nightmare tower, which also was a big meta event, which progressed over time?
Something like that do we need again with the rebuilding of lions arch, where we can actually also see over time the progress really, how Lion’s Arch gets rebuilt day per day so more we progress on it being rebuilt.

A good idea, though I’m not sure how it could be done well.

Adding here and there some new jumping puzzles and explorable treasure places in the existing world together with new JP and exploration achievements would be also an awesome way to keep us for some time entertained.

6) Adding more region achievements to the already existing maps would be also very great to keep us busy and entertained for the next months to come.

They already sorta did that during the Living World. Still, expanding existing zones is good.

7) Add new dungeon rewards like new dungeon weapon skins and armor skins for ascended weapons/armors that would cost significantly more tokens to make also playing with alts again more alt friendly and to broaden a bit more the ways of how you can obtain ascended stuff, other then only through pure luck, laurels or time gated crafting whats the most biggest grind that destroyed the alt friendliness of this game in the whole place first and foremost.

New rewards? Yes. Significantly higher token cost? No.

This would also require making dungeons actually fun and putting the token rewards back to the way they were when you could get more tokens on alts if you leveled them enough. Still, potential there. Although they’ll probably never do this one.

OMFG. Insta-buy. #finallysomemaleskimpy

How Wynne entered Forgotten Cave?

in Lore

Posted by: Nilkemia.8507

Nilkemia.8507

I may be wrong, but I think Nilkemia was asking for the source for sylvari functioning as magic detectors, something I too am curious about.

Correct. Admittedly I didn’t type that out well. While I am aware that the sylvari can sense things about plants and animals, and possibly about the terrain they are on to some extent, finding a magical key for a Forgotten barrier is a whole different story, unless being the first Night Bloom just gives you the power to find long lost Forgotten keys too.

I can only speculate is that she found that either before or during her time with the centaurs, or that one of them had it and gave it to her. Although, compared to all the things that don’t make sense for this part of the story, that’s rather minor anyways.

How Wynne entered Forgotten Cave?

in Lore

Posted by: Nilkemia.8507

Nilkemia.8507

Wynne was the first (or one of the first) Night blossoms. They are the ones who see those dark secrets (read: truths) of the world that others do not see.

Psh, that “She was the first Night bloom which is why she only knew it” garbage. Sure, you can buy that…if you’re willing to forget the previous lore regarding the Dream.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Dream_of_Dreams

So now the Dream, instead of being a vast subconscious/collection of the sylvari/Pale Tree’s memory, now suddenly has a will and whim of its own to give certain sylvari certain memories (which doesn’t even make sense when you consider that the Pale Tree’s seed had been planted long after the previous Elder Dragon rising, thus she wasn’t there to see it, let alone the sylvari, so it shouldn’t even be part of their memory to begin with).

By that logic, Trahearne should’ve also known they came from Mordremoth, since he’s the first sylvari from the Pale Tree. Caithe and Malomedies should’ve also known already, since they’re Night Blooms. Fair enough?

Caithe realizes that it was Wynne’s Wyld Hunt to protect the Sylvari (at least those borne of the one known Mother Tree) from this one particular truth, that they are tied to the jungle dragon.

Would’ve been nice if the Dream hadn’t given her this knowledge to begin with so she’d end up dying to keep it a secret till now.

In many ways, this truth has only really manifested as a result of those who experiment with dragon magic for personal gain (power). They rip the magic out into the open and then, if they are the “appropriate” type of creature, become servant to it against their will.

Um, no. It got out because Caithe swiped the egg with no explanation like an idiot, and the memory seeds we got from the Pale Tree showed up the events leading up to the reveal. Nothing to do with the Inquest (at least I presume you’re referrring to them, as they’re the only ones experimenting with dragon energies, and if they already know the connection, they haven’t been talking).

It’s kind of easy to understand how Wynne finds a Forgotten Seal after realizing that the Forgotten once inhabited all of Tyria, long before Humans arrived there and took over. As Sylvari are masters of the land, they can probably sense these things – magical things – long before any mechanical excavation by other races ever could.

….source please?

Oh well…it doesn’t change that the whole “Sylvari came from Mordremoth” thing was a crappy reveal.

The trailer showed Pact members fighting Nightmare Court alongside Mordrem, along with Faolain stabbing one through with a Nightmare Glaive. In addition to that, the presumed Nightmare Court members (and Faolain) had red eyes/glow and vine like growth on them similar to some Mordrem creatures.

It would seem that the Nightmare is probably a subtle lingering form of Mordremoth’s corruption, that has to be taken in willingly or forced on the target by others first.

If it is different from Mordremoth’s corruption/control, it certainly doesn’t seem to have done Faolain (or the other courtiers) any good for resisting the dragon, and possibly rendered them more vulnerable, like the Soundless.
