Answer to the opening post : This is not a problem. ArenaNet already nerfed it once near the start when Silverwastes was introduced. And, the LFG tool helps to get to a map that does events. And, even if there are few/none available, with a little effort and taxiing people in, you can make even the deadest of maps into an event map.
Also, Silverwastes Shovels are mainly obtained via events (they might be an occasional rare drop of enemies there, but uncertain), so in the end, event maps are necessary to get chest maps.
There are legitimate problems with the game, but this is not one of them. Please move along.
Seiran’s is still there at least : After doing Claw Island last night, while I was mapping Blootide Coast in the area west of the south-eastern corner of the map (where that oasis is) today, the Risen Commander popped out to say they were going to plant me right next to Seiran.
Given how many things this game does better than other MMOs, the lack of dueling is hardly a loss to me. Still, it would be nice I guess, in certain areas like the home instances or the guild halls as stated.
His resources are limited. Although, that does make me wonder why he doesn’t just create an army of these commanders in place of the Mordrem beasts (any minions besides the Guard) and use them to wreak havoc. Again, maybe these take more resources/time to create than all of the other minions that having an army of them isn’t feasible, but it seems like a valid question.
It’s been long enough. This isn’t really a spoiler anymore except to new players joining right now (and some of them might know already).
Laranthir was probably referring to all the sylvari aboard the Pact fleet. Still, if the scene we saw of Canach getting attacked by the Seraph (in the stinger for HoT in Point of No Return) is any indication, this could very well soon spread to sylvari in other areas as well.
Ever since the last patch. Anyone else having this problem?
I bought them back then, and I don’t mind that they’re back at all. I’m glad newer players now have a chance to get them and the other past event items that are in there.
A certain Jungle themed mastery is missing..

You sure you want to be swinging from vines in this jungle?
In the moletariat….err, Magumma Wastes, the vines swing on you. After strangling you.
No. If you want a trinity, feel free to go play a game that has that.
Canach seems to be joining the group from what we’ve seen in the HoT beta. Plus, the player character themselves can be sylvari, filling the racial diversity.
Both of his eyes seem to be intact, though that might be either a replacement or an illusion (as the event fight with him has us fighting clones of him).
Because human nobles are stupid.
Although, it’s implied that NPC rules regarding waypoints are not our rules regarding waypoints.
The best part is that the endgame is whatever you want it to be, unlike other MMOs where it’s a constant grind to make sure you have the best gear you can.
As long as they don’t force raids into the story itself like Arah was for the longest time.
At least I know to avoid these.
This is probably the fourth or fifth time I’ve seen this, although the last ones were a while back.
I’ve only ever seen Engineer get the double win treatment at all though, not any other professions.
Is this meant to happen? I like Engineer, so yay for me, but it’s not so much for those that may not care for Engineer or like it (or those who didn’t make one).
It just seems odd to me.

I know…this outfit is meant for us veterans and all…but it doesn’t feel right thinking that newer players who get into the game will never get a chance at it later, even if they spend enough time in the game eventually to become veterans themselves.
I do hope that sometime later on, it will be made available for anyone to get proper, be it via the Gem Store or as an in-game reward.
Thoughts/feedback please.
So…is this a third birthday present or what? I don’t have one at all.
Answer : Rangers might be, if they could ditch the pet mechanic for something useful. Necromancers aren’t, sadly.
Answer : Probably.
After so long, it’s really to be expected. They weren’t fun to begin with, so it devolves into figuring out what to skip and where to stack, and what to do for certain boss encounters.
Couple that with the fact that over half of the token rewards are limited to once a day per path, and that there’s usually a path everyone avoids for most dungeons, or a path most will stick to, and it’s probably faster to get dungeon gear from reward tracks instead.
“You’ll never conquer Ascalon! We’ll die first!” (Okay then. Die.)
“You’ll never conquer Ascalon! Rrrrraaaaaaahhhh!” (Ascalon’s been conquered, you fool.)
“Obstructed!” (Hooray for bad design. The arrow carts and ballistas can cripple and ping pong me from there, yet I have to get in a melee them, so as to obviously aggro the overpowered enemies.)
Did I mention fractals are garbage?
Doesn’t leveling up after 80 give you spirit shards?

Answer to title : How about no?
Greatsword too slow.
Traits are garbage.
Shroud best part.
Yet another reason necromancer is really at the bottom.
Nah I got a kick out of it, I’m glad you posted it like that! Seems like a pretty dumb oversight on anet part, but at least its an amusing one. They could at least left the trainers in and had them chat with the appropriate classes, give you little tips and bits of wisdom.
If I’d had any skill with Paint/Photoshop/etc, I’d have tried putting signs or a poster next to them saying “Master lost, please return to minions”. And yes, leaving the trainers there and giving them a better function would’ve been nicer than just outright deleting them.
It looks confusing because they appear to be YOUR minions in the image. Pointing out that you’re not a necromancer would have assisted with this joke.
If they were my minions, they would not be that far away nor standing in that position relative to my character. Also, player characters can only summon 2 bone minions at a time.
I don’t get it.
Sigh. The necromancer trait trainer/guide merchant used to be there, and is now gone/erased from existence. The minions stuck around, and now just stand there aimlessly.
I guess I should’ve just typed that instead of trying to make it amusing.
Unfortunately, their removal of the gems + forcing us into pure runes instead of mix and match, and finally the recent trait changes have all but removed diversity.
In the end, the only thing PvP is good for is reward tracks. “Skill” doesn’t really matter, just who has the cheaper/stronger build, who gangs up of the others more, or who watches the points better.
Bone Minion 1 : “Where master?”
Bone Minion 2 : “Please bring master back.”
Bone Minion 3 : “If find master return to minions.”
Flesh Golem : “(unintelligible noises)”
It seems like one, now that I’ve thought of it, but that might just be me.
Requesting thoughts/feedback.
I guess if anything the look of the icon makes it seem like mending involves bandaging yourself up, which seems like a physical thing.
Plus, with Defiant Stance and Healing Surge/“To the limit” as a shout now, a Physical heal utility is the only thing missing.
Thoughts/feedback?

1) The amount of time taken to do the PvP dailies would be on par with the Pve ones, so the AP farmers would simply go back to PvE – What would be left would be an influx of those who do want to learn who would be subject to the matchmaking process and therefore (primarily, initially at least) be playing each other. Eventually, as these players progress and learn, you would benefit from reduced queue times and a healthier playerbase.
2) In addition to the above, playing unranked commits you to at least a 2 minute queue time and with no side switching and equal numbers, on top you have probably (at least) a further 2-3 minutes of game time before it might become apparent that the team they are on might lose and they quit – assuming they are going for the profession daily. This might be a problem initially. but I’m pretty sure that after a few days, those simply looking to complete their 4 dailies in PvP will just go elsewhere as the time commitment is too great when you cannot guarantee a win because the ability to queue sit and join the winning team or switch sides mid match no longer exist.
No. Wrong. The PvE dailies can be so annoying and tedious now depending on the rotation you get that it is more often than not faster to go for the PvP ones, even via unranked queue.
Because of this, friends of mine actually find empty custom arenas with no one else and trade wins off each other for the dailies, without disrupting anyone else in hotjoin.
Your suggestion would screw them over needlessly. And even if that weren’t the case, I see no good reason to remove reward track/daily progress accumulation from hotjoin/custom arena at all. And I utterly hate the mode and almost never go to it, save for helping my friends get their dailies done faster.
So, please no. With no rewards, nothing to gain from Hotjoin, it may as well be removed. Your suggestion is not a solution in my eyes, and would make things worse.
Remember that time the servers got DDoS’d and a lot of people got dishonor when they didn’t deserve it?
I remember that. So…how about no.
We need a surrender option for hopeless matches more than we need that silly gimmick returned.
Answer : Yes, it is obselete and should go. It kinda made sense back when it had a cost, but that too was annoying, and now there’s really no reason to keep the armor damage system around.
And I tire of those arguing for death penalties. I dunno about you, but losing/failure tends to sting enough. I don’t need penalties rubbing it in.
Answer to topic title : No.
This has been happening for me ever since trying the Personal Story recently on my Norn Ranger and even in the beta event maps. In a cutscene, either the very first line of dialogue or the first line spoken by a character will have no audio.
I like the voice and thinks it’s a neat menacing touch, and since sylvari are now considered related to it, it makes sense that they could interpret what it says to an extent.
That being said…it does make it feel a bit less dragon of nature-ish to have it giving out commands like that, making it seem more like a dragon champion instead.
Perhaps have a low growl/whisper/other unintelligible noise when it speaks, but have words that we understand pop up in it, like “kill”, “capture”, “bring them to me”, “I hear/see you”. Or perhaps flashes of images like Konig suggested referring to what it wants the minions to do/are doing.
Yeah…not liking how hard hitting these things were. Doesn’t help when there’s a cluster of them and I have to tell them apart from the other Mordrem types quickly or get downed. And I was playing as a celestial-ish Reaper with Berserker weaponry.
I heard it at the camp, but not at the first boss fight. On one hand, it’s a nice touch, and the voice does sound menacing. However, I agree that it makes Mordremoth feel less like a force of nature or a dragon and more similar to just a dragon champion or something lesser ordering these minions about, even though as a sylvari it makes sense for us to be able to at least comprehend it’s speaking to an extent now.
Perhaps a better way would be to have a growl/whisper or some other unintelligible dragon noise when it talks, but have words we can understand pop in at certain parts, like “kill”, “capture”, “I see you”, etc.
Answer to the opening post: No. Absolutely not.
Tera did something similar (adding _1 to names of characters that had been inactive for a year, except they also did it to inactive characters that hadn’t been around for a year anyways), and even that felt like a jerk move to pull.
And, seeing as you have no way to tell when people die/quit for good, this reads off as something that could, and would, be abused.
So, no. Just because you feel like stealing other names is not a good reason to suggest something like this.
Let’s see.
- No reflects/projectile mitigation, which both elementalists and mesmers have.
- No decent escapes for when you’re cornered/outmatched. Mesmers and elementalists have quite a few.
- No decent elites. Lich is a joke. Plague makes you harder to kill somewhat, but you’re also a bigger target. Flesh Golem doesn’t even attack half the time.
Admittedly, elementalist apparently also has weak elite skills as well, while mesmers stick to either Mass Invisibility or Moa Signet.
In addition to this, several other lingering problems like lack of reliable Stability and decent combo fields/finishers remain even now, leaving necromancers still subpar compared to the other two most of the time.
The reason there are ticket scraps is because there used to be only tickets. If you think scraps drop rarely then you should consider the ticket drop rate before they started using scraps. It was about one ticket every 50 – 60 chests or so back then. If RNG hated you, then not even that often. The scraps were put in so that they could drop more frequently than a ticket and people could progress by slowly getting enough scraps until they had a ticket. Scraps are actually better because their more frequent drop rate lessens the RNG part.
Eh, no. What they could’ve done is just increased the drop rate of tickets to match that of scraps, instead of using scraps. It’s just a cheap way to make it seem like you’re making progress when you’re really not getting to your goal any faster.
Unfortunately, the only way to make it available in the vendors is to unlock it via the achievements first. -.-
No. Get keys from map completion and convert gold if you feel so inclined, but never waste real money on gems for them.
More like not enough cleansing, depending on your profession.
Well done. Keep the wings off though. Unless you can actually fly with them, they just make you a bigger target.
