And, not too far from there, a Champion Cave Spider guarding a Rich Iron Vein. This one’s near the vista around there, so it is easier to find. Still, not sure if people would go out of their way to hunt this one.
Right. Back again. Here’s another one, this time in Gendarran Fields. A Champion Cave Troll just standing around in the snowy caves in the far southeastern part of the zone. Still, I could be wrong and people might actually fight this thing. But I’m not sure, since it is tucked away rather well.
Well, so far the “Living Story” has left me little to no hope that they’ll return to this plot point. And even if they did, I doubt a Living Story for it would do it any good anyway.
Doesn’t change the fact that time-gating on this scale is stupid. If they want to burn through content that fast, let them. At least you could do things at your leisure before. Now my time on the game is managing a daily checklist. I hate that.
It was too easy! Tribulation Mode complete!

SAB Weapons (in game) are frustrating

Well, just because they’re referencing older games doesn’t mean they have to bring back the parts nobody liked.
I agree. These living stories just affect only a small part for a little while, and then leave maybe one or two things around when they’re gone.
The letter bomb was a nice touch, though.
Pssh. Any progeny who took a beginner’s class in explosives and went to a Wintersday surplus shop could’ve done that. I expected something more impressive from one who has allegedly graduated all three colleges in record time.
Personal nemesis? I hope not. I certainly won’t consider her one. I can think of some other characters more deserving of that title.

Yes. I don’t get why the bomb icon has to move to a new slot when I click it. If they were like the engineer kits and gave you a bunch of skills with each item, I could understand it, but with them usually having just a function for clicking them (and maybe an extra function from holding the button instead), it makes them clunky to use, which is bad when you have enemies that like to rush and surround you, smacking you relentlessly until you go down.
It was neat to read.
The “shadow” at the end makes me worry they’re going to put another hidden plot at work here though, which I’d rather not have. After all the garbage with Scarlet and her tools—err, minions, I’m glad with a Living Story that’s meant to be fun without some hidden threat lurking.
Should the original SAB skins be rereleased?
in Super Adventure Box: Back to School

Yep. While it doesn’t look as bad on the new skin models, it shows on the recolors of the old skins, like the Super Sword’s dark blue handle, the blue bits on the backpack, the gray blue handle on the Scepter, and the blue parts on the bows.
(Admittedly, I’m not a fan of green or yellow, so I’m probably being biased by that. But in my opinion, the green and yellow variants look inferior to the originals’ blue.)
Um, so what’s the point of these characters? Are they his old krewe who kicked him out, or a new krewe he’s working with/leading? If it weren’t for the NPC chat tab picking up their banter, I wouldn’t have known they existed. And that console says “Access denied.” so..another part of the living story not out yet?

Warning! Lots of text here. T.l.d.r. version at the bottom.
The good:
1: The new lobby is a great improvement. Feels more alive now.
2: Three separate difficulty settings.
3: Pretty much every weapon that didn’t get a skin the first time around has one now, save for the underwater weapons.
4: Mini Moto/Miya. Nice to have minis that don’t require the Trade Post or the Gem Store to obtain.
The bad:
1: Account bound, once a day glorious chests for bauble bubbles at the end of the zones now. Unless you play on Infantile Mode, in which case they aren’t there at all.
2: Account bound once a day dig sites, which have also had the bauble amounts reduced in most cases.
3: 50 bauble bubbles for a weapon skin is too costly, especially now that bauble bubbles cannot be gathered as quickly as before.
4: The previous skins from the initial release are not sold by Moto anymore, with no valid reason as to why they are not back.
5: No Obsidian Shards.
6: World 2’s zones are ridiculously difficult and long compared to World 1’s. I eventually gave up and used Infantile mode to get through the zones, until—
7: The 3rd zone, requiring an item that costs 400 baubles (more than I can carry/use inside the Box) to get past an obstacle that blocks you. While I’ve read of an item that increases your bag capacity, I have not found this item at any of the shops I have been to.
8: New items costing ridiculous amounts of baubles, meaning you have to run certain parts of zones over and over to farm the baubles.
9: From what I’ve read, Tribulation mode is like I Want To Be The Guy, or any game designed to kill you off in cheap ways and 1 hit kills. I don’t consider that challenging or difficult in a good way.
10: The skins from Tribulation Mode are basically the same skins except they recolored the glowing parts to green and yellow. While most of the new skins look fine, it starts to look bad when you look at the recolored skins from the original release, which still have blue handles and other parts that they didn’t change to match the new glow colors better.
11: The skin designs that Moto sells work with the Mystic Forge, except you’re not told what they work with. After asking around, I am under the impression that they work with items obtained only in Tribulation Mode. Apparently it is faster to obtain skins that way—if one can stand all the cheap deaths.
12: The Infinite Continue Coin. I see no reason for this to exist at all. I’m not using gems on something that only works with temporary content.
T.l.d.r. version here.
They made a few good changes but way too many bad ones. All the bad stuff killed the fun for me on the first or second day. I want to like this, but they went out of their way to make it not fun or worth it, and restrict the amount of worthwhile effort you can give. They changed it too much in all the wrong ways, now it sucks.

Should the original SAB skins be rereleased?

Answer: Yes. Including the backpack. The green and yellow versions are ugly, just ugly.
Bumping for great justice. Or lack thereof.
Please, PLEASE bring back the first backpack.

No problem. It makes no sense to me for them not to return, and the only people who have any reason to whine about them coming back are the those who held on to the skins to put them on the Trade Post and inflate the price. And even that’s not a valid reason, there are plenty of ways to make gold.
Good for you. Troll detected. Containment procedures recommended immediately.

Time gating should’ve never been brought into the Super Adventure Box, or anywhere in this game, but here we are… looks like I’ll have to buy the skins I want this time.
Super Backpack Cover SHOULDN'T Return.

Wow. I can’t believe a thread like this exists. Yet it does. Sigh.
Okay, time to sort my thoughts.
I was around for the first time the Super Adventure Box came out. I gathered up enough bauble bubbles to get the old skins that I wanted, including the backpack.
That being said, I feel that the old skins should be back. There is no reason for them not to come back.
Ruining the aesthetic? Seriously? By that logic, the Fused and Sclerite skins had their aesthetics ruined by being on the Trading Post, as well as every Legendary weapon.
That’s no excuse.
Speaking of the Trade Post, just because the old skins are there (the rare sellable ones) doesn’t mean Moto shouldn’t sell them again. Again, no excuse.
I got the backpack and the other skins I wanted because I like the way they looked for my character. Not to look exclusive, or show off to other players “Hey, I was around when this box first came out!”
I got it because I wanted it and liked it. And I feel that other players that weren’t here the first time, or just didn’t have the time for it before, should have a chance for it now.
Please, PLEASE bring back the first backpack.

I’m dearly sorry that you missed it. But people like me earned that backpiece and bringing it back just ruins the aesthetic of it. Nothing in this game is guaranteed to come back, get it while it’s here.
No, you’re not sorry. No, bringing it back would not “ruin the aesthetic” of it. (those ugly green and yellow skins arguably did that already) By that logic all the Fused and Sclerite weapons had their aesthetics ruined by the Trade Post, as well as all legendary weapons.
Speaking of the Trade Post, yes, I’m aware that all the old skins (minus the backpack) are available on the Trade Post. Guess what? That’s no valid excuse for leaving the old skins out on this release. Sadly, thanks to the account bound time gated bubble chests, it might actually be easier to get them that way, but the old skins should still be back nonetheless.
Oh, and before I’m accused of acting entitled or something, I’ll point out now that I already earned the backpack as well as the other old skins that I wanted. I still think they should be back regardless.
This time gating gimmick has to be one of the worst ideas they’ve ever come up with.
I think this is a troll thread.
Meh. The Super skin’s regular blue looks best to me right now. Maybe the red and purple will be nice, but they just don’t look that great in green or yellow. But that might just be me.
Not from me. Green and yellow don’t suit the Super skins at all. I like blue. And maybe red and purple.
Well, it may just be me. But the Super skins don’t look good in green and yellow. They just look best as blue. Supposedly the next two worlds will give red and purple as their Tribulation Mode colors. Those may end up looking better. But I’ve looked at them in green and yellow and think “eh..no.”
Those are for the Tribulation mode skins, which will undoubtedly be frustrating to obtain, and are green and yellow instead of the normal blue.
Please, PLEASE bring back the first backpack.

Not just the backpack, please bring back all of the skins from the previous release. It makes no sense whatsoever to release a bunch of new skins for the other weapons and then leave out the previous ones. And the green and yellow skins don’t look as good as the regular blue ones at all.
Ha ha ha ah aha ah ….ugh….
Great, just great. (/sarcasm.)
Account bound chests mean you can’t get the skins you want within a reasonable timeframe without using the Trade Post.
No Obsidian Shards, so hopefully you saved up on those from when Balthazar was open, if not, too bad.
No Super skins from the last time the Box was active, which there is no excuse for at all.
The adventure starts out fun but then it all gets sucked right out from 1-3 onwards.
Those design tokens could’ve been a neat way to craft the skins you wanted, but no—-they only work with tokens from Tribulation Mode. (Or so I’m told) And after seeing how frustrating it got on 1-3 and 2-1 on Normal, I’ m not even touching Tribulation Mode. And by the way, yellow and green recolors (not even full reskins, they just changed the color of the glowing parts) are ugly on the Super skins, to me anyway.
I was genuinely looking forward to this update..why did they just decide to make this not fun or worth it?
(edited by Nilkemia.8507)
Another poor decision on their part. There’s no good reason to not have the previous skins and the backpack return with the new skins. None whatsoever.
The Blue Super Backpack was for the original release only. You can still get a Green/Yellow backpack by completing the World 1 and World 2 meta achievements.
That pretty much requires you to look up a guide to figure out how to get them all. And it may be just me, but green and yellow simply don’t work well on these skins at all compared to the normal blue.
Yep. Sometimes you don’t even have to touch them, just being adjacent to one makes you take damage even if the monkey’s not doing anything.

So, what makes the Tribulation skins so special? Are they improved looking compared to the normal ones?

Yes, they’re for the Mystic Forge, but what do I combine them with, and are they an alternate way of getting the skins if you don’t feel like farming hundreds of bauble bubbles for the skins normally? (Oh wait, you can’t do that now.)
Ouch…more time-gating? Ugh..
Besides that, nothing important.
Don’t worry, you missed nothing important.
It’s an instant downing bomb. Showing what a sore loser Scarlet is, heh. Nice try, but your present left a lot to be desired.
After going through a few of those invasions and gathering some things to build our own portal, we get to go back to the Pavilion to evict Scarlet.
Despite the “5 players recommended” tag, this can be completed solo without too much difficulty, which is nice.
(edited by Nilkemia.8507)
Anyway, after that, we’re done with the closing ceremony. The Pavilion is now locked down unless you get through Scarlet’s Playhouse to re-unlock it. So…on to that.
Sorry about all the long text and pictures taking so much space again. Hopefully this thread is just something people can read and enjoy, because that’s really the point, or at least I’d like to think it is.
Thankfully, an asuran dignitary named Vorpp is around, and not only is he an expert with teleportation equipment, he also knows some things about our new adversary.
Logan goes to organize Seraph patrols to protect the streets (which is pointless, since Scarlet doesn’t bother to take over the rest of Divinity’s Reach outside the Pavilion, and if she tried, the Seraph probably couldn’t do much to stop her anyway).
We talk to Vorpp about Scarlet, and this is where things get..nonsensical. But, at least we know where to go next.
Right. Logan’s whiny about not knowing about the safety measures, while Anise burns him over his lackluster performance so far.
(Something to note: During that cutscene with Faren, Logan was nowhere to be seen or heard. Since he didn’t know about that Jennah being an illusion, the only explanation was that he just wasn’t paying attention at all, while Faren was. And he bothers to whine about not knowing…)
Anyway, the Queen tells him to do whatever he’s got to do to deal with Scarlet, and Rox and Braham offer to help as well, because they have nothing better to do.
Hey, good job!
Oh Faren, why did you have to be so heroic? (And why do people seem to think that you are not, specially Anise? ~.~)
I just laughed again at the scenes. That was awesome, thanks.
Oh, thanks. Sorry for not noticing sooner, I get so wrapped up in looking through all the pics I have for the good ones to put in that I don’t notice other things. Also, sorry about the posts being so huge. I wish there was a way to arrange the pictures in the post to have them next to each other in rows or something, but I’m still a newb to this..
“Opps, did I say four bombs? I meant five.”
I feel a little sorry for Logan. He just doesn’t get a brea—oh who am I kidding, he was pretty much taking a break during the 2 weeks between the Opening Ceremony and now, which is how Scarlet prepared all this right under our noses.
Right, anyway, we fight the veteran twisted watchwork that shows up, and then time for some story.
In the midst of disarming crude explosives, we have a slight detour. Well, we’d better save them too. On to that last explosive…
(edited by Nilkemia.8507)
Moral of that cutscene: Trying to save Queen Jennah never goes unpunished.
The real Queen Jennah is still nearby, but unlike last time, she and Anise aren’t up for beating up any baddies this time, so it’s down to you, Rox, Braham, Logan, and the few Shining Blade NPCs they bothered to put in. Time to disarm some crude-looking bombs.
Right, so we’ve learned that the suspicious figure is Scarlet, she’s a sylvari, and she’s got a silly leafcut under that cloak. She’s also taken over all the watchknights in the area this time, and taken it a step further by changing them into twisted monstrosities. Also, bombs.
Looks like the queen is next.
Well, 2 weeks after the Opening Ceremony, I think?
Eh well, a closing ceremony, because an arena that big needs a ceremony for closing it as well. But that suspicious figure from earlier has something to say about that.
What khefka said. I had some pictures of it, so…why not? Also for people who are too lazy/don’t want to watch videos of it.
Besides, it’s better than another thread complaining about the Gauntlet/You-Know-Who, right?
