Anet devs need to understand that buffing damage of a warrior does NOT help a warrior at all. It’s the bloody mechanics that doesn’t allow the warrior to fully utilize himself.
1) Very little survivability – Adrenaline nerf (rapid degen ooc) and Cleansing Ire nerf (draining adrenaline whether or not the attack is missed/block) has hit the warrior’s ability to perform consistently hard.
Solution: Undo these changes
2) Bugged physical skills – Seriously will they be ever fixed? Rush, Bull’s charge, savage leap, Eviscerate and Whirlwind attack (rarely) are the skills that comes to my mind that misses the target ~50% of the time except WW which is a rare case. Imagine if mesmer’s shatter skills missed, a guardian’s trap missed, ele’s burst skulls missed, etc. This renders the warrior completely useless in certain situations where the tides could’ve turned into the warrior’s favor.
Solution: Make Rush and BC teleports and increase the range of the other skills and fix the bugs first
3) Blind spam, evade spam, block spam of other classes – while warrior can’t do any of these lol. Blind is very powerful on a warrior, being a melee class primarily and two handers on warrior are so slow that blind spams almost neutralizes a warrior.
Solution: Nerf access to blind, blocks of ALL classes. They should be rare and should be used wisely, not just spam it. Remove sigil of energy from PvP as well
I disagree, actually buffing the damage is good. ANY buff is good! However, it’s not enough! What good is buffing our attack power if can be completely nullified? I swear other classes get a LOT of blind spam, teleport spam, get-out-of-jail free cards. A lot of that stuff is PASSIVE.
I honestly think that warrior’s power is in a good state. The attacks hit really hard but the problem lies in the fact that they’re very difficult to land which is exactly where Anet needs to buff the warriors.
I’m a 32 bit user, and I have crashes 15-20 times a day, whatever the tyrian or WvW map. 90% of the time, it occurs when I try to change map or character.
More frequently during loading screens, yeah.
Reverting back to alpine BL and removing PvE contents (like the overgrown grub, the champ near speldan, etc) from WvW will be the first step towards the right direction IMO.
You guys misunderstood my post. I never called for nerfs to all other classes to bring it down to warrior’s level. I did ask to tone down the spamming of blind and blocks because often their usage timing decide the outcome of a battle. Blind spamming is ridiculously OP on a melee class like warrior and once zerker stance runs out, warriors really can’t do anything about it. I am specifically referring to certain traits and skills which is on a low CD.

I wish I see more warriors in PvP thoughThat’s the thing, the pvp community is being kind to you. Berserker is so strong there are no metabattle builds because the government is trying to hide the strongest elite spec from the public.
Dragonhunter has too many problems to be meta, they’re slow, the traps do mediocre damage, true shot only does like 500 damage on crit. Aegis only blocks one attack, ONE, I mean what are you even suppose to do with that?
It’s not fair because there are some people who want to play dragonhunter but it isn’t even viable with all the berserkers running around.
You do realize that I main a warrior and has been crying/whining in the forums for the last few days to buff it, right? There’s no point in replying to my quote in a sarcastic manner. I, genuinely, wished for more warriors in PvP but seeing how terrible they are in team fights, I can understand why they are so rare these days….

They wont just nerf every other class for warrior’s sake. They need to redesign warrior mechanics from ground up. Warriors are a class that was designed for when GW2 first released and a lot has changed since then. Nerfing everyone else to essentially revert those changes would negate the growth of the game. We cant revert the entire PvP scene, we need to update warriors to fit in the new PvP scene.
And what changes do you propose to update warriors to fit in the PvP scene? Please justify.
Never saw a single YB player making fun of DK, we all respect him a lot and he is indeed one of the best commanders I have followed in all servers I have been.

Again not sure why this would be. He is a very good pug-mander. Not many commanders can rally pugs like that. The ones that can, consistently win with zergs which isn’t easy especially in T1 which is full of good sized GvG guilds. I have respect for commanders willing to tag up and lead pugs… it is one of the most difficult and often frustrating commanding efforts.

In PvE, NOTHING is bad. Even if you run naked with an exotic weapon you’ll do fine in open world PvE as long as you know when to dodge. The complaints against Berserker/Warrior is for PvP/WvW where they are underpowered.

So we can get more threads complaining about how folks cannot upgrade keeps due to supply trolls? Because that was a spammed forums complaint before. Now it has mutated to the same posters complaining about auto upgrades.
What OP prolly means is that giving alpine BL back with the automatic upgrade system (not without it) and I fully agree with him except for the fact that it should be done in higher tiers as well.
Okay, but why? Unless they have some actual reasons to offer, it is simply a point t less demand, in my opinion.
The new maps take just as long to traverse. They limit se ure trebing from behind the safety of walls, thus creating more open field fights. The event in the middle draws all 3 sides to try to complete it first, to keep the other side from getting g, creating great 3 way battles.
I have had a great many more open field and 3 way battles this week, due to those map features, then I did in the last 3 months of the old BLs.
In my opinion (which is also shared by most ppl I know of) the maps are way too big for consistent action to take place. Add to that different layers and gimmicks added to it and it looks more PvE oriented. Whether its pointless or not that is upto Anet’s call to decide what they’re gonna do with it. From this forum (and a couple of recent reddit threads) its quite clear that majority aren’t happy with the new maps including me.

I have WvW’ed about a grand total of an hour (max) since HoT released. The maps are just too big (even for T1 – can’t imagine in lower tiers) and stays dead during off hours 90% of the time with backcapping here and there.
Aesthetically speaking, alpine BL beats the current BL by a large margin.
Also, WTF with the events at the centre? Pathetic when WvW community wanted PvE to be removed, Anet goes on to add more PvE. Sorry, but its equivalent of showing the middle finger to the dedicated ones who care about this game mode.
Right now no server can crack T1 since YB came back to life. If BG/JQ or YB/BG ganged up on the third server or if YBs player surge falters for 3+ weeks it could happen.
Unfortunately for FA, BG and YB would likely make any server coming into T1 a beat down experience. The population of both servers is running pretty heavy. Even JQ is fielding a map Q during NA Prime but cannot keep up with the numbers at least this week.
Im on JQ, and number of people showing up for WvW is lower than norm, I think if someone from T2 push hard enough, they just might drop JQ into T2…
You do realize that its gonna take atleast a month to close the 100+ rating points with 150-200k+ victories in T2, right? In other words, the chances of a change in T1/2 matchups is almost negligible as it stands now.

Healing Signet healed for 392 hps (before the nerf) without any healing power investment FYI.
In any case, I’d rather they buff the other useless healing skills than buff HS tbh specially the useless rage healing skill (infact ALL the rage skills need total rework imo)
OOM is the new Elder Dragon, it started in the Maguuma and now it’s spreading over Central Tyria.
In all seriousness the client itself apparently has a memeory leak issue so it doesn’t matter where you are, in HoT zones or in Tyria zones the issue is always present. Especially in Lion’s Arch. So the only solution now is 64bit client. People who can’t upgrade to 64bit client will have to suffer a bit more until they find a solution.

Thx for the reply. One major difference between the HoT and non HoT regions is the frequency of crashes. In HoT areas specially in VB and AB, I crash every 10-15 mins (guaranteed) but in SW (or CS for the matter) its rather random, may crash after an hour or after 10 mins.
Anyway I hope Anets fixes this soon and restores it to pre-HoT state
Dear Anet,
Before the 23rd October HoT update, never ever did I encounter OOM crashes. All maps worked just fine including SW. After HoT released, I used to encounter crashes in HoT maps especially in VB but now getting OOM crashes in SW and Cursed Shore as well which never happened before. I am using the 32 bit client and switching to 64 bit isn’t possible for me atm. Please help!
Can’t comment on berserker though since I never see them

I blame the hammer and PS for being so strong keeping them from being buffed for the PvP formats and PvE, respectively.
Keying onto this, for truth. Hammer isn’t going to see buffs, unless Revenant is seen as a new baseline.
The Greatsword might-buff machine is pretty much the only acceptable shtick for warriors right now, and that needs to change. Hopefully by adding more synergies to other weapons.
Knowing Anet, they will nerf GS as well in order to keep in track with the other weapons LOL. Then the warriors will be good for nothing in any of the game modes. Even ele does better might (and fury) stacking than a warrior and Herald perhaps?
Not quite as depressing a berserker.

Lol…Berserker is an epic fail but the core warrior doesn’t stand a chance against the new specs assuming the players to be equally skilled (not one noob and the other a pro). The full warrior traits/skills need rework, not just berserker. The physical skills are bugged – BC, Rush, Savage leap doesn’t hit 50% of the time. Some melee skills like Eviscerate need greater range to be effective, etc. The adrenaline degen nerf tops them all really. Until that is fixed, warriors will be in the grave.
Death Shroud of necros doesn’t degenerate, Astral force (or whatever the F its called) of druids doesn’t degenerate, but warriors lose every bit of adrenaline the moment they step out of combat…..Balanced. This is one of the main reasons why warriors will continue to suck in PvP/WvW.

Swap tempest with druid and that’s about right.
I don’t think I have mentioned druid anywhere in my post, did I? I have purposely skipped druid and daredevil because I am yet to play them.

There are around 40 HP challenges in the HoT maps (VB, AB, TD and DS) which awards 10 HPs each. So you can earn 400 HP from the new areas alone.

As someone who mains a warrior, don’t play it in PvP. It’s grossly underpowered atm. The new elite spec is utter kitten and honestly not worth taking it in place of any strength/defense/discipline. Rage skills are worthless (who the F designed them? lol) and so are most of the primal burst skills.

TBH, in PvE you can’t go wrong with any class basically with power builds. The new mobs in the HoT seems difficult at first but when you learn their attack techniques you can safely run zerk with no problems.
In PvP, warriors are a joke. They are equivalent to “free bags” (as called in WvW) for other elite specs. Too underpowered atm given how much other classes can spam blinds endlessly, spam CCs (which was once warrior’s forte). Stick with ele or just hop on the newly Dragonhunter bandwagon (till it lasts lol)
Like I said in the other thread, these 2 skills are a joke atm (specially after they nerfed Rush in the 23rd June patch). They miss half of the time when it should clearly hit the target.
The best thing Anet can do at this point is to make both these skills teleports which hits instantly finally give the warriors the viable gap closers that we have been lacking.

Even after Anet claiming they have fixed Bull Charge and Rush, for some reason I fail to land (while not being blinded) them on my enemies 40-50% of the time even though they are very much within the range. The CD of BC is way too high for a skill that misses so often.
It’s not just the excessive stuns, add to that Anet added so much blind spam mechanics to other classes. Blind, if used properly, can negate a powerful attack but now instead, they are in excessive use and this completely neutralizes a warrior’s ability to contribute in a battle. Once zerker stance runs out the warrior is toast.
I’m pretty sure Adrenaline is way different from shroud in regards to dependencies.
Actually, I’m positive it is. A necro/reaper without substantial life force/shroud is so painfully useless it’s almost sad.
Not saying I support the immediate decay – I think adrenaline should have a fixed decay rate, per point, combat or not, for OOC is a bit punishing but the old decay was way too slow, and half-heartedly flailing around shouldn’t maintain adrenaline – being hit or hitting should.
If I am not wrong, the timer before which adrenaline decayed before the nerf was 1 min. Maybe they could have brought it down to 30 sec?
Adrenaline is an important aspect of warriors. In PvP, DPS warriors depends on adrenaline directly from traits (+20% dmg from the strength line, 100% crit chance burst builds, healing depending on level of adrenaline, removing conditions based on adrenaline spent, etc) for both damage and survivability. The new elite spec mechanic is fully dependent on adrenaline and it requires FULL 30 to activate. I’d argue its as important to a warrior as any other profession’s mechanic to theirs. I fail to see how adrenaline is not so important to a warrior.

I’m beginning to think half my frustration with playing warrior in HoT is warrior itself. Or how every mob seems hellbent on countering warrior (and melee in general). The accusations of “Range Wars 2” aren’t wrong by any stretch.
(The other half of my frustration is shoddy layouts in portions of the map design.)
Could be that part of my combat frustration is choosing hammer, for the sake of murdering Defiance bars (and squishing pocket raptors :P), instead of the “more acceptable” greatsword and longbow. But that’s kind of the point in saying it. If you’re not using Phalanx Strength/Greatsword or ShoutBow, there aren’t any decent builds to tackle HoT content.
My non-Chrono mesmer walked in and wrecked shop, effortlessly. My ranger sails through most of the enemies. But my warrior has to close massive gaps in order to deal subpar damage, while enemies either leap-stealth away or charging-knockdown with no-cooldown skills.
So, I’m not sure if I regret HoT itself, or just experiencing it with a warrior.
Good observation… I too noticed that melee is at a severe disadvantage in HoT PvE, with all the mobs constantly spamming knockdowns and other CC attacks.
Lol, in pve, warrior is just fine, even condi berserker can be somehow interesting (I have to try that one)
I had no big troubles killing things with full zerker gear at all in HoT.
The broblem with warrior and berserker is in PvP.

In PvE, every class is great. It’s PvP where the weaknesses are exposed. Warriors are currently underpowered and gets exposed when facing an equally skilled player of other class (except thieves maybe).
Let’s face it, the elite specialization depends heavily on adrenaline due to the new profession mechanic Berserk which requires full 30 adrenaline to activate and the rate of decaying IMMEDIATELY after getting out of combat is frustrating. I believe this is one of the main reason why Berserker turned out to be so unpopular in PvP.
Does necro’s DS decay out of combat? No. Why punish warriors’ mechanic here?

I really don’t know what Anet can do to berserker at this point. The whole trait line is a massive flop along with the skills. They have kittened up the specialization completely.

My main was/is/will always be warrior. Nowadays, don’t play class anymore since other classes feels exciting and innovative to play with the new playstyle they got. Currently I am enjoying the reaper very much and will probably stick with for some time.

It’s sad that Anet made the most popular class’ elite spec so underpowered compared to other ones.
Unless Anet nerfs the other classes heavily (looking at you DH, Chrono and reapers) or buff warriors HEAVILY, warriors will be irrelevant indefinitely. Berserker’s primal burst skills are LOL-worthy to say the least. The only positive thing berserker has is the eternal champion GM trait.
It has been happening since the HoT update (We are in the same boat) and Anet is well aware of the issue but we don’t know how long it’ll take for them to fix it. They didn’t say a thing about this on the forum but you can read a dev’s response here on reddit:

Elite specializations aren’t supposed to be better or worse than the core – just different.
The idea is not to have the Elite spec be OP and invalidate the core profession – that said the Berserker elite spec is just bad because there’s really no reason to take it over the core specs.It’s different – but not in a good way – its differences don’t give enough of a reason to switch from core.
Like you said, elite spec are supposed to be diffferent. Rage skills and the physical skills are so incredibly similar that its not funny. Every other professional got something different than what they were used to. Initially before they revealed Berserker I thought they’d give warriors some ranged utility skills but no. Even the rage skills are so lackluster that no one will ever take them over the core utility skills.
The healing skill is perhaps the only that could replace healing signet in power builds but I doubt even that. The primal burst skills are a BIG JOKE.
Even before the release of HoT, playing warrior was painful against blind spammers/stealth spamming classes. GS/Hammer attacks are slow, so blind spam also nullifies a power warrior (I hate playing Condi) and are so telegraphed that everyone and their mother can see it coming.
The adrenaline nerf (depleting immediately after being out of combat and depleting even after missing/getting blocked) really nerfed the warriors into the ground while thieves have multiple chances at landing a backstab from stealth without getting revealed, mesmers can lock down from stealth and they get away with it. Talk about balance hmmmm
With the new elite specs, sorry to say but warriors are just free bags for classes like guardian (DH), ele (d/d), mesmer (all variants, almost impossible to kill), etc.
