I don´t like the Hammer and Bow Nerfs in PvE. They are already weaker choices, so i see no reason to make them completly “broken”.

Splitting PvE/WvsW/PvP can´t come soon enough.

20-25k 100Blades are a little bit of nothing.
U can´t call a build with 15-30 points in defensive and whatever mixed or defensive armor “decent dps”.
U can play it, it can be best build for u personally. But i will never recommand points in Defense for PvE. Except 30/25/15/0/0 for “older” or “slower” people in open PvE for example.

In future higher lvl fractals they´re will be not more then 2 warriors. Even now 40+ 2 warrios are enough. Sword ranger + thief and a guard or mes, ist often better.

Waterfield on demand or buffs. The biggest opponent in getting high lvl fractal slots will be the Elementalist, not the warrior.

A ranger with the current PvE high lvl Meta 20/25/0/25/0 has got nearly the same effectiv health then a DPS warr. And more Evadeskills on weapons. So don´t tell crap about everything is so much easier with heavies…

But, it´s better to pick up a warr then a axe/bow ranger. True. Ranged if range is needed but not always.

Symbol of protection should be NO combofield. It doesn´t matter which, even Fire, Water, Frost and Ethereal can be useless in teamplay. Depending on the Situation.

The Problem is, Hammer without is the symbol is useless. It´s the main source of protection and dps. Well and a pig part of the weapons gameplay and feeling too.
So interrupting the Chain is a worst case scenario. But if the gruop wants a specific kind of combofield (let it be water, fire or whatever). We can´t or better shouldn´t use the field.
If we do this, our hammer will be nearly useless. So better no field on the Chain, but a low CD finisher on MB. Much better.

The other symbol fields are ok, they´re used on demand and not so important for dps (even GS symbol is not so important for GS dps as the hammers symbol).

4 needs about 1 second (or a bit less with aftercast) to finish the skill+throw it.

But it´s ok. It´s a small dps boost and good for burst in PvP.
But 5….as i write above.
Increase dmg to let it be a small dps boost and remove boons from enemys and/or conditions from the guardian too.
Doing this will make the torch a good choice in PvP and PvE. And the player have to decide:
A bit more DPS or boon/conditiom remove?

A problem I foresee with this is that it would essentially force all Rangers to run the highest-DPS pets; there would be no benefit or consequences for doing otherwise.

A ranger who is runnig bear/pigs an so on, is usually not a usefull partymember anyway.

Learn to let your cat/bird survive, or pick up another class. Sometimes a range pet can be a choice, but picking them means rangerdps<warr/engii/necro….

But there are a few 1shot attacks or bosses with too much AoE to let a pet survive. I think AoE reduction in dungeons is ok and a good deal.

Sword/Focus + GS or Hammer is much better then Scepter/Torch or so.

In PvE it´s much better to let a ranger take Sword/WH and Sword/Torch, more burning, not rly a dps lost for the ranger and a firefield.

Win=Win, guard torch is not such a good choice. I tried it often in PvP and PvE, but i can´t find a build where torch shines over another weapon.
Cause it´s utility is bad, it´s only nice for the 4 burst. But GS/Hammer can do this too, and have much more cc and utlity.

Lower casttime for torch 5 or higher dmg (should do a little bit more then AA spamming), conditionremove for the guard and/or boon remove from enemys. This would make the torch pretty well and uniqe.

Using Torch 5 for DPS means no condition/boon removal. using it not, less dps but bonn/conditon remove. Players choice.

Your movie. Can´t watch it, blocked in germany…like so many others.

Why by hell can´´t i do 90k Rifle 4 with my warrior even fullbuffed? So sad….crappy rifle, should get a complete rework….i want GS or Axe DPS!
And don´t say rifle has 1200 range….Axe 2+ DS has by far superior DPS to rifle in 600 range.

If Axe 2+Axe1+DS1 can do Dagger DPS, why should any1 use a dagger? Yes ok, buff Dagger DPS to be on par with warr and Axe tobe on par with the old dagger…in PvE ok.
But in PvP/WvsW it can be a problem. But they said that they want to balance diffrently in these 3 parts of the game.
So we can hope.

Oh, and traited crippel, is in tactics, this “high dps” GS warrs can´t pick it. And the root last for only 1 second. And as said, the last hit of 100B does a bing amount of dmg done by this skill.
In PvP/WvsW a “classic” Powerbuild like 30/10/0/0/30 has more utility and defensive possibilities then warrior builds like this.
And the 30 points Defense/Tactic warrs are not superior in DPS.

The only Problem in Dungeons are 1hit AoE attacks that came so fast that u have to dogde.
This is are petkillers. SE P1 for example. We can´t be on par in DPS with other Classes (except Mesmers and Necros) at this kind of bosses. But there are only a few i think.
But i never tried fractals with my ranger.

In good gruops, rampage as one, is used for stability to skip. Fury should be active, and might too. Thanks to Sword AA and NM 15 trait our Pet should have might.
If u know your enemy, u know when dangerous attacks are coming.
Use RaO, Sick´em and Zephyr after such an attack.

With this argumentation, mesmers timewarp ise useless too, cause most mesmers are to stupid to pull it at a good moment when all buffs are up, and all classes can do most dps.

Skill 5 was a lightfield before the patch. It was only a tooltipfix. And 1 combofield per weapon is enough.
But a combofield on a AA Chain that is the DPS key of the weapon too, is fail.

Ring of warden useable while moving and removing the combofield from symbol of protection will make the weapon much more viable in both PvE and PvP.
MB in PvE? Why not, no stupid Lightfield and we can stack might by using firefield. Heal with water and so on…everything better then retalation.

Strong DPS chain and a strong DPS + combofinisher skill, thats more fun then just raw dps.

Wells are perfect for meleecombat, and minions too, ok they suck often a bit, but they work better if they don´t have to follow an opponent.
Spectralskills are nice too. Prot, teleport a grap, and wall can be used to fear enemys towards the necro, for example.
Or Staff 5 can be used to make escape more difficult.

Signet of spite is ok too. Corruption skills are something special. But can help.

And in midrange axe/DS and stuff can be pretty strong. I don´t it should do the same or more dmg then the dagger. A little bit less is ok.
And yes it can/should be a bit more then now.

Waves do agony, fire does agony, beginn of the fight. And i think a phase switch/berserk mode too sometimes.

Nearly all agony can be avoided.

No it isn´t, hitting 3 targets with mace 5 and Axe AA is more dmg then Axe 5.

And, u knockdown them (can save allies lifes) and u´re focusing them. So they are faster down and can deal less dmg to u or ur allies.

There is no logic in your post. Classes have diffrent tools to avoid dmg.
If we compare Health and amor by your logic and creat something like “effectiv health”, necromancers should tank and guardians should do the backline stuff.
Oh and lol melee ele? Ele should stay in the town they could get hurt!

Well u will answer, guards have aegis and so on. Yep, that´s it, class mechanics + player skills=played role.

Oh i feel pretty strong with my lightning hammer ele in PvE/Dungeons. I´ve light amor, less HP then a necro and no deathshroud. And i can do my job, good and with alot of fun.
And now tell why necros shouldn´t stay in melee combat? I can´t see a logical argument.

Focus deals more dps, and is better support for your group cause of Vul (traited) and blind for trash. And persononal dps + finisher and at least to keep UC active (which means even more dps).

Burning is, or should never be a problem if your group is not completly dumb.

But you´re right at the torch roles, but it should get buffed here. 5 should deal more dps and remove a few conditions from the guard too (2 or 3 over the channeld time).

4 is ok i think.

When people say it’s weak.. what do you compare it to?

You know when you have axe, you trait for it.. It gets a nice boost from 20 on the first line of traits (cannot remember the name atm) and 25 in the second line adds UP TO 22% (i believe) if all conditions are on the enemy .. Something signet of spite helps lots with that.

Axe is a powerweapon, ppl that play with axe do not play with signet of spite. Furthermore we compare it with 100b because its similar. Warriors have acces to more hp, more armor, stability and more mobility then necros so their place in melee is warranted. Because of this necros at the very least deserve the same kind of dps because they cannot stand in melee.

In a perfect mmo axe 2 would even have more dps then 100b because warriors are viable in melee and ranged while necromancers cannot stay in melee.

I´ve rly no idea what i should write. Im sure i´get a permban. But i will try to be gentle.

1. Necros can´t stand in melee combat? Why? I think: Yes, they can!

2. Comparing 100B to Axe 2 is stupid cause. Axe 2 is ranged and useable while moving.
And it´s only a 2 1/2 sec channel not 3 1/2 sec. To say my Axe 2 does only 30k dmg but 100b 50k is. U know what i want to write.

3. Warriors have access to more HP and dmg? More HP? Rly? And MORE HP and the same (more then a dps necro) dmg within the same build?
I rly want to see this build…probably i can kill lupicus solo just by walking into his room….

4. More amor? Ok, but does warriors have deathshroud? And traitable 25% (soon 50%) less dmg if they are in “warriorshroud”?

Other class, other skills, other mechanic…don´t be a cherry picking texas sharpshooter.

It is not the same hitting auto attack ( that does a lot more damage ) in front of you than around, is like you hitting 10k with auto to 3 mobs on front of you or 7k to 10 mobs all around you. I use it because it mobility and AOE range.

AoE´s are capped to 5 targets.

Talking about LB and “Maximum” in the same sentence….
LB and quite a lot usefull effect?

1. no dmg…possibel an enemy could die how cruel!
2. less dmg then 1, and a little bit vul, but still not usefull
3. im stealthed guys! see u later die alone, possibel i will rezz u!
4. 60k 100B? Haha! not gonna happen BAM! Knockback!
5. Only usefull skill, but so much CD, that is should be only used to engage a fight, but even there it is worse then just playing GS with Swoop + Maul + Sword AA Chain. Or using Warhorn 4 and 5 while u are walking in melee range.

So if u have not rly a usefull effect to your party, but u´re dealing about 50% less dps then the swordranger with buffs. Possibel being the reason why bosses are using special anti ranged attacks on melees ( AC Spider, Lupicus Bubble/green stots).

Dealing all this dmg only to 1 enemy instead of 3, standig away from all buffs, don´t buffing a party.
Why by hell should any1 want a LB ranger? If u switch LB/axe and so on, u deal so less dps then all your support ist useless. Just any other class or player who can play his/her class will be better for the gruop. Even a daggernecro is better then a LB ranger.

If want to play it, cause u like it. Do it. But stop telling storys about how good u are for a party. Just enjoy a play what u want build, and join a play want u want gruops.

It´s easy to see cause protection can be stacked a little bit now without boon duration, before it expieried as fast it got applied.

I believe it to be our top dps weapon now, and the 15/15/0/20/20 build is even more fantastic. More prot, more dps, more vulnerability.

I’d go so far as saying 15/25/0/20/10 could challenge greatsword/1h users for the crown.

10/25/0/25/10 can be better. Same support same DPS and u don´t need unscathed contender.
If u don´t need WoR as often as u can, u can pick up UC and do even more dmg.
For PuGs 15/25/0/20/10 should be better too (Vul is often a big problem here).

But there is still the main problem. The weapon will still suck (a little bit) in PvE, cause of this stupid Lightfield on our AA Chain.
I play often with my hammer, cause i like it it´s fun to me. But in a lot of groups, i switch to suboptimal traits (empowering might in honor) with GS/Sword/Focus to not overwrite fire/water/ethereal combofields.

This field should be removed. One combofield is enough, no weapon needs 2 combofileds of the same type. And we guardians have a lot of low CD light fields.
The symbol is ok, but this specific symbol (of protection) shouldn´t be a combofield.

To say no gruop is failing because of this, is not a argument. It´s an appeal to emotion.

A Rifle Soldier warrior is making a lot dungeons much more difficult for all others as a wp GS/Axe Zerk warrior.

If u want to play what u want builds, join play what u want gruops.

U said nothing about a second weaponset. LB only is useless.
Lb with Axe+Horn is a mightstacker only. 2-3Banners+FGJ.

F1, banners inside the field, horn and spamming Axe AA. But this build can´t be good with 30 points in the second traitline. And is not solid DPS Builds. It´s supportbuild.

U said enough it´s easy to know now what your build can do, and what not. And “decent dps” is 1 if this impossibilitys.
Furios is a pretty useless trait, using F1 skills too, even Axe F1 if u´re berserk.
If u are using LB F1 u should do conditiondmg. And Conditiondmg is not “good dps”.

It´s funny, not picking a 15% dps increasing Trait that is so strong that no F1 skill is used in PvE and saying that u can do more dmg without this trait.
That´s logical fail.

100B is 3 1/2 sec channel, necro axe 2 1/2, no the dmg is ok. But cleave and a explosion finisher is a good idea. That would make the axe a bit more viable.
Not only dps is the reason why necros are unwanted. They are slow and they have not rly viable offensive support.

I personally don’t use OH axe because how weak axe #5 is but I feel axe #4 is a lot stronger than the other 2 offhands: sword and mace. Forget the vulnerability aspect on the mace for a second since in a PvE setting you’ll probably be running rending strikes and have a guardian in the party spamming vulnerability. Now compare the base damage between the axe 4 and mace 4:

Dual Strike: Damage (2x): 404 (1.2)
Crushing Blow: Damage: 336 (1.0)

Dual Strike is a lot more powerful than Crushing Blow since it has a higher base damage and a higher percentage being multiplied by the power and weapon strength and it also hits twice. Now let’s compare the Impale -> Rip and Crushing blow:

Dual Strike: Damage (2x): 404 (1.2)
Impale: Damage: 184 (0.5)
Rip: Damage: 643 (1.75)

Impale into Rip seems a lot stronger than Dual Strikes but you have to take into consideration that it takes 1.25 seconds to execute the entire chain (use impale and then rip your target) while dual strikes takes 0.5 seconds to cast and is on a shorter cooldown than Impale (12 seconds versus 15 seconds). Dual Strikes also cleaves unlike Impale which is only single target.

I’d use axe/axe if the encounter in dungeons didn’t require any blocks or interrupts/knockdowns with tremor.

edit: I took those numbers off of the wiki so I apologize if I’m wrong.

Mace 5 is hitting twice in melee range.
Fury should be always active (but vul is rarely at 25 stacks all the time).
Sword a strong defensive weapon.
So the discussion is worthless.

Axe 5 needs a rework. Pure axe (spammning AA^^) can be already better in DPS then GS only or GS/Axe rotation.
So there is no space to buff Axe 5 DPS over Axe AA DPS without creating a new PvE Meta.
What´s making the Axe boring too is the fact that using F1 in PvE is a DPS loss (only for good lasthit i know).
This should be changed in future.

Probably decreasing Evis adrenalincost by wielding 2 axes.

Runes of the ranger are better. They are bugged 6th bonus is always active. With pet or without, in gruops or solo it doesn´t matter.

Soldier gear is too defensive (even in zerg´s full soldier is a big waste), and the fractal/dungeon builds is rly bad.

Your suggesting the FT or some specific build of it is getting nerfed? What build? And where is the information about it being nerfed. I generally stay on top of upcoming changes, and I have seen nothing that would nerf the FT. I need a link to evidence of this, or I am going to have ot call shenanigans.

FT builds are really being hit hard by the Incendiary Powder change. The loss of 10% damage from FT 1 while burning is significant.

FT was never good. AA sucks hard. If they don´t buff it´s dps, the FT will still be a utility tool. But not a mainweapon.

To think doing good dps with a power based weapon +burning+a few stacks bleeding is a little bit….weird.

And if the group is not complete dumb. Bombs are enough to get 25 stacks of vulnerability. 2 Warriors can stack 10-15 even on bosses, a ranger 5+. So only 5-10 stacks are needed.
And we still have room for fifths mate.

It´s stupid to talk about theoretical DPS with 25 stacks of vul applied cause it will never happen.
25 are usually never needed. Only in rly bad gruops, but this gruops don´t do dmg, even with 25 stacks.

BTW: Rifle AA + toolbelt + SD DPS > Ranger Longbow/Shortbow DPS.

In 80 group pve – necros are second hated class after ranger.

But, rangers have 1 good and usefull build even for speedruns. Necros not.
They dont´t deal rangers/warrios/thiefs dps, they don´t have good support (might, banners, frostspirit/spotter).
Only a little bit not 100% active vul.
And they are slow like hell. It´s cruel to do Arah with a necro.
Until the necro is comming the other 4 finished the fight already.

Axe is to weak in DPS for PvE it sucks cause of the lowdmg AA. Dagger is outdpsing Axe by far.
This Guide is for PvE DPS not good.

If u want to play a Glascanon DPS Necro u should play Dagger/Warhorn+Dagger/Focus and a 30/25/0/015 build (possibel changing with 10.dec).

GS will be useless as a more defensive weapon. There is no need to stack for 10seconds on a 100000evade low dps/utility weapon.

Good weapons with lower DPS but utility are warrior or guardians hammers for example. A lot of CC/Protection, this are tools our GS is missing a lot.

Maul is a Burstskill, useless on such a defensive weapon when the overall dmg is too low. Swoop is a gapcloser, good but nothing special.
It´s to chase target´s, but to make a target running away…u should do dmg. tricky.

4 is a block, need´s a small fix to make it useablewhile moving.
5 is a small cc with long cd. Nothing special too.

The ranger GS is something like warrior GS or guards sword. Utility (reflect/evade) gapcloser and so on. They pure DPS weapon of warriors is the axe (yes pure axe dps is fullbuffed a little bit 2-3% higher then GS/Axe rotation and 7% or more over GS only).

What makes warrios strong is the combination of 2 weaponssets. Both nearly equal dmg, but diffrent utility. Guards are the same, Sword/X + GS or Hammer/Scepter.

But rangers don´t have this.

So what should we do with a even more defensive GS? We need 2 weaponsets to outplay others, but GS can´t outplay them, too low dmg/utility this should be fixed, not the defensive potential.

Standart trait picked in a lot of dungeon dps builds. It´s working in most “speedrun” gruops.

With torch 5 you can leap in and back out with sword 2 and get fire aura so you can stack might, just a thought.

Which is triggering if u get hit most times u get hits in dungeons/fractals it´s not rly healthy.
And Axe 5 is for reflection only, not Vulstacking. Most bosses have – 50% duration (some more), so the stacks will last for 5 seconds or so. Your personal dps will fall so far that it will be a group dps lost.

GS evade off the chain, on to swoop.

It got buffed by about 7% or so, so it´s not a 1,7 coeff as i know. And if Vulnerability is at 20+ stacks, the GS will fall even more behind the sword.

Torch is burning what should be always applied in gruops.

Axe if u want to reflect something, Horn for Buffs. Dagger to get an extra evade.

I can see Agony infusions, so u PvP rampagemode guys should take a deep breath, and ask the TE for which gamemode he want to play it.

PvE or PvP? In PvE conditionbuilds are still funbuilds. But get nerfed hard by switching Berserker´s power and heightend focus to grandmaster traits.

If u don´t want a lot of weapons for dungeons, force and fire should work too (if u have don´t a weaponswitch sigil on your second set, shield with energy for example).

Sigh… Because we should all support a change of our only melee weapon that can be effectively used in zerg fights, knowing that this change will greatly lower that viability, only so we can hope against all hope that this will convince Anet to buff damage of GS AA.

Show me one proof that this is not naive, wishful thinking, and we can talk. Otherwise this debate is pointless.

Probaly the GS was much to high. Nerf ok. But why not down to the sword? Why they nerfed it so much?
Are devs are just dump (i think not), or was their a reason?
If u can tell me a good reason why they nerfed GS dmg/dps so much (even with the old bleedings the GS was weaker). It would be cool.

I think don´t removing the evade was the trade for this strong nerf. What do u think?

As i said obove, primarly i just want the GS to be a equal weapon and a good alternative to our sword. With evade or not, i don´t care (but i would prefer vigor/endurance).

U will not come far with “play what u want” builds. Lvl 70+ everything not Zerk was useless and 1 or 2 hit anyway.
This kind of rangers is the reason why so many people don´t want ranger´s in their gruops.
Sad but true.
