Little off topic but, I guess its some what of a relief that WvW is not the bottom of the barrle as far as GW2 goes, the Ranger thread still isn’t even up.

Aparently WvW’s hair is not as red as the rangers.
But then they would have to moderate those and you know do work and stuff.
Yes, we need the zergs moving around the maps even faster in WvW because this makes perfect sense to the maps already being to small.
Don’t get me wrong, I would love to see them fix Rangers but I have little faith that if and when they do open the CDI it will be little more then a place for Rangers to vent followed by being ignored.
The Ranger class has been broken from day 1, players have asked for fixes from day 1, the most noteable patch Rangers recieved was for underwater, which was a slap in the face.
They basically need to redo the entire class, start from scratch and make it more useful. This game is reliant on other classes, this is why they have things such as combo and fields, Rangers bring NOTHING to other classes that cannot be brought or done better by a different class. To much focus on pet dependancy (which is so broken its not even funny) and not enough focus on group utility/play.

I guess the WvW team works different hours ? That CDI has been up for awhile now. Face it they broke the Rangers class so bad they are completely lost on how to fix it and listening to their players is not their strong point.
First off, the ESo vs GW2 argument is pure stupidity, some of you will prefer ESO and some of you will prefer GW2, your not going to convince each other that one is superior to the other so why argue ?
EotM has hurt WvW participation, LS has hurt participation, ESO WILL hurt participation not because its better but if your foolish enough to believe people won’t leave to try it out for at least the free month then your blind. And finally the Dev’s more so then any other reason have hurt WvW participation by continually ignoring bugs, hacks, imbalances, and in general ignoring their community and treating us like a bunch of morons that have never played an MMO before.
Its hard to say if numbers will pick up for season 2 because as someone else stated ESO head start is March 30, Season 2 begins March 28, its going to be hard to see the numbers when many people leave to try ESO.

No they are saving it for I’m guessing march 30ish right about when ESO’s early start begins, then poof they will magically have figured out the code and expect us to praise them because they will call it a WvW patch.
I wouldn’t say its the Zerg’s, the Zerg’s themselves would be fine the issue is the maps are to small to avoid them most of the time. Some of us enjoy running headfirst into 80 people and killing them with 1/2 their numbers but for the small mans/solo’s and unorganized mini zergs, as I said, the maps are just to small to avoid them most of the time.

Tactic, it can be avoided with scouts. No scouts means the larger force will probably migrate to said tower/keep, with scouts, the larger force will be informed that its nothing more then a tap.

Eh . . . not so much.
The underlying premise of three-faction PvP is that any time one side gets too strong, the two weaker sides working together (should) always be stronger. So in order to keep from being dominated, the weaker ones always have an incentive to work together and keep the strongest in check.
What’s happening here is the opposite of that; the two strongest contenders are teaming up to farm the weakest one. Which, ok, whatever. I mean, it happens IRL all the time, so it’s not like it’s unexpected.
But it’s a bit of a perversion because the meta is supposed to be that everyone wants to win; or at least everyone wants to not lose. Two weaker allies teaming up to stop the strongest one from facerolling each of them one at a time is a natural result of that meta, since it allows them both to win at least some of the time, where in the absence of cooperation they would each lose in turn, all of the time.
Instead what’s happening here is that both of the stronger opponents want to win as much as they can, and they want to do so with the least effort possible. So instead of fighting each other — which is, after all, an awful lot of work, and will leave them both vulnerable to harassment by the third — they team up to farm the weakest of three for PPT, dividing the entire map equally between them, and then just fighting at the margins to get a little edge over each other once in a while.
Taken to its logical conclusion, what ultimately happens is that the two strongest opponents reach an agreement to divide PPT evenly between them and just take turns on who gets the slight edge needed to get number 1 each week, so that they trade places from match to match, while completely shutting down the number three and preventing any third opponent, no matter how individually strong they may be, from ever making a serious play for the shared 1/2 position.
The problem is that in the meta it is really, really hard to guarantee that you hold the number 1 spot all of the time, without being overpowered by another equally strong challenger. But once the top two enter into this cartel arrangement, it is really, really easy to hold a permanent, shared lock on the number 1 and 2 spots, and through this combination to maintain that lock with almost no real effort.
And since 1 and 2 are both equally good for building massive league pounding and recruiting power (especially when your effective rank is consistently 1.5), this becomes the path of least resistance to maximizing the win for each of the top two opponents, neither of which could do consistently as well on their own.
That is an assumption your making there at the start of the first paragraph, just because you think that is the way it should work and you believe that is what they intended does not make it true. Three way battle means ANY two teams can team up regardless of what place they are in.
Do I think its fun or fair when this happens … not really, but the fact of the matter is a three sided battle does not mean the two losing teams always hit the winning team.
I’m sure its not just T8, this is what happens when nothing is done to prevent it. Anet has allowed it to carry on for what ? a year and a half ? People post daily about exploits and send reports, some even make video’s explaining how its done and send them to Anet but I guess if you just ignore it it will go away right ? Kinda like those bugs that have been around since beta.

Confusion, you guys went from beating AR & GoM to this ? Who did ET lose because if it was 1 guild carrying the whole server then Kudos to that guild.
The real CDI thread will be a joke just like the last 2, with an occasional reply from devon stating something like “I’m watching keep up the discussion, I’m getting alot from this”.
Not surprised they have 11 replies, they will tell us were hostile and that’s the reason for the lack of Dev replies but in reality were hostile because were ignored daily. Check the other CDI’s that pertain to PvE and SPvP, the Devs were an active part of the discussion, now go look at the WvW ones … they really should be ashamed of themselves.

I think pets should be a choice though, having to rely on a broken AI seems silly. Maybe you get a pet with 5 points into beastmastery, this allows for rangers to choose whether they want that pet or not and points can be spent elseware. Or simply make it so pets are not such a large part of the class unless you choose to spec into beastmastery.
So does that mean as an example, if ET is winning against their opponents every week they will potentially be playing BG because both servers won say 3 weeks in a row ?
Or are they still going to split into different leagues ?
I wouldn’t say the posts are harsh, they are however reality and truth, the truth hurts. My point is, they can make all the CDI threads they want, they could make a new one each week but, if they never act on the threads then what is the point of having them ?
Its an honest question and from the looks of the posts it a question several people are asking, my goal isn’t to attack Chris and make his life misserable I have nothing against Chris. The point is to get some answers about the issues that we the player base voted on as our biggest concerns and to date seem to have fallen on deaf ears. These threads although named CDI are everything but a CDI thread, there is no collaberation and it seems no development so why keep asking us what we think ?

Well, if you look at their tournament announcement they do address most concerns from season one, though they are still incentivising blobs, coverage and transfers.

Your missing the point, while they may be addressing SOME of the issues from season 1 they are still completely ignoring the other two CDI threads, both of which would impact for the better their seasons/tournaments.
Why are you even continuing with “CDI” threats that pertain to WvW?
- No company has ever done this type of thing before. Therefore there is no pre-existing framework that they can draw on to streamline the process. They are figuring it out as much as we are.
- Things take time to implement and test. In a recent interview ANet said that some of the results from the earlier CDIs are in development but a ways off from release. They always stated up-front that there were no guarantees on the results of the CDIs anyway. Keep in mind that EotM was in development before the CDIs.
- The WvW team have always been one of the more transparent and engaged teams – even before the CDI. They have also been punished for being transparent by the community. Give them a break.
- You are living in a reality distortion field. ANet is making an effort that nobody else is – even if you don’t like the results of the CDI at least they make an effort. You have been treated far too well for far too long and you may be out of touch with how other game developers are treating paying customers. ANet are by far one of the best examples of how to treat customers. Even I rage at them sometimes, but all it takes is to go and try and play a game of BF4 – with the crashes and outright denial that said issues exist – and I start appreciating what I have very quickly.
Chris/Josh/Devon: I definitely don’t want that discussion yet. I think what may have happened is that people said they liked EotM which was confused with wanting to talk about it. Maybe suggest a list of topics and let us vote for one?

I stopped reading at no company has ever done this type of thing before, this must be your first MMO. Its cute you think Anet is the first company that has had player interaction to help with design.

WTH, so I don’t know about any other servers but Anvil Rock has been a lag fest on and off for the last 3 days, WvW, SPvP, PvE it doesn’t matter. Is Anet planning on doing anything to make their game playable or ignore the issue ? 3 days without any emergency maintenance to fix this speaks volumes.
No its not just me, several people complaining about getting kicked, rubber banding, skill lagging, slides showing and basically not being able to play.
Its sounds like they heard us loud and clear regarding the pathetic rewards, with that said I will play because I enjoy WvW if the rewards are what they say they will be its just a bonus.

Dev’s that listen to their player base, Account bound Wxp, a season schedule that is somewhat balanced, transfer costs based on WvW server rank not based on how many players your server had once upon a time running pve, Commander tag changes that have been asked for since the beggining of time, and finally Anet to announce they realize the rwards for season 1 were a joke and season 2 will be slightly less of a joke.
Sounds like bad guilds to me, our guild raids are always enjoyable.

I’m confused, why would anyone play WvW for lore ? I mean its your $60 and you can play for whatever reason you want it just doesn’t make sense why you would play WvW for the story.
Ya its pretty terrible right now, I wonder if they will just ignore this like all the bugs they do nothing about. Shut the game down and fix your kitten.
I’m going to go out on a limb and say this post is not going to help your servers recruit people, well thats not true, maybe the people who like to whine about nothing.

Can’t do it, nothing you say can make me not hate PvE. Now the players, I have nothing against them.
EoTM was made for the rest of us (the vast majority of the game’s WvW-playing population) to enjoy, while a very few among us burn inordinate amounts of energy worrying and complaining about it.
This is funny, you do realize many of the complaints are due to people asking what other think of the map ? Just because you don’t agree with their opinion does not mean they are whining. That’s like saying the vast majority of the games WvW playing population whined because they didn’t have this map.
I don’t like it from the time I spent there, that is an opinion not a whine. Very big difference between the two, also for those that are “whining” they reserve that right just as you reserve the right to praise it.
People will get used to it but I have to agree, all these suggestions and everything we have asked for and we get this ? I think they should just stop asking players what we want, what our likes and dislikes are, its pretty clear they do not care.
I dont mind the server pooling that part is a good idea but the EotM map itself more so the cannons and what not I think is a terrible design. I’d be good with WvW the way it was prior to EotM with server pooling.
The hard truth .. Anet does not care, that is why. We addressed this issue in the CDI thread and it seemed at the time they were agreeing that this was an issue, now its apparent they were just humoring us and plan to do nothing about it.
It’s pretty easy to dodge the turret attacks or bring stability.
Sure it is, if your not engaging a large zerg where … you know, your stabilities and dodges are needed. Lets not forget some classes are playing with 2-4 seconds of stability while others are having a great time with 10+ sec. The turrets need to go.
Personally I don’t like it at all, baddies everywhere just trying to knock people off the edges then running away when they fail. Random Cannons and siege that spam knockbacks and do not require anyone manning them. Massive zergs everywhere, yip I’m not a fan.
Its great for those that like it but its certainly not for me.
First if this has been mentioned I am unaware, is it intended that we cannot see the color of the Towers, Keeps and camps in the BL’s from EotM ? Or is this a bug ? Just curious, currently there is no way to see what and if you have lost anything from within EotM on your BL or the enemy BL’s.
Your forgetting about the BG, JQ, SoS, SBI, TC, … ect ect ect overflows. They wont be the only servers there, many will be there to try out the new map, avoid Queue’s and try and get some good fights.

I think the first couple weeks will be a farm fest, lotta people will be there to check out the new Champ Train, LS, and just new map in general. Once they realize the risk of running a champ train in a WvW scenario many will move back to their previous Champ Trains.
Of course I could be completely wrong and there will be mass warfare everywhere.
Easiest way, find a commander, follow said Commander, try to do what Commander asks, within a few days of this you should have a basic Idea of how things work and at that point you can start working on the rest of the WvW stuffs.
I would recommend the first over the second, AH is a very selfish trait that heals for a minimal amount and more then likey will not save you. Its a personal preferance of course but I find the first build to be more group friendly with the stin breaks and of course more Stability is a good thing.
It is like so many have already said, anything they can do another class can do better. Their pets are crap and have far to much of a role with the class whether you spec for pets or not. They have lack luster utility, spirits die in seconds in a large fight, they have RaO for their stability which means you can’t use entangle. They need more group utility thats the bottom line.
For those of you Rangers saying things like “but they are on par with X” think before you post, your telling Anet you don’t need a fix because your fine, you should be yelling and screaming how every class is superior to you.
Lastly don’t ask a question you don’t want to hear the answer to, if your just going to argue about the answers then the question was pointless.
