Thanks for that post Delta Blues.8507 I agree. This is why I enjoy the thief class the most because it forces you to play well or be punished. With some other classes you don’t always see that your doing poorly while with the Thief it will be obvious, especially if you watch other thieves and compare effectiveness.
I modified your build some.
Try this
*Edit!!! (_8(|) D’oh I edited the build but didn’t save it one moment!

-For boss fights make sure to swap out Hidden killer for Executioner.
(This will enable you to get those really strong back to back Heart Seekers.)
-You lose Vigor on heal but gain an on demand Endurance Refill and get passive precision when not in use.
-Using Hide in Shadows is nice for opening a fight with a backstab since you can walk in with it active.
-If you are willing to budge on the Acrobatics I would say go 10 into Shadow for
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Infusion_of_Shadow
This will enable you to consistently CnD+ Backstab while not getting under 6 iniative so you can maintain your 10% bonus damage from http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/First_Strikes
Here is an older guide I created when you could speed run CoF P1. It’s very high damage, but you have to make sure you know the content you are running when using this or you will go down fast and often.

I would suggest if you are having a lot of trouble with conditions killing you try:
Heal- http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Hide_in_shadows
Trait- http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Shadow's_Embrace
This will give you access to on demand condition rip if you can land your CnD’s.
Rune- I highly Suggest Lyssa Runes + BV for the on demand OMG Condition Clear.
If you still have trouble with conditions you may want to add more stealth until you are able to survive.
Alt Rune Coice- Superior Rune of Hoelbrak is another option
+25 Power.png Power

+50 Power
5% chance to gain Might for 20s when hit. (Cooldown: 5s)
+90 Power

Personally I like to play a far point Harasser with Cruuk’s build, but that’s PvP and another story all together since you mention using food. Good Luck!

Just wondering if you considered stealth stacking by wall humping an exploit.
Thanks for the clarification.
HS does not say “450 (unless you angle the camera all weird)”, it says “450” and then nothing more – anything that makes HS not go the full range (outside of game mechanics that are specifically designed to do so, which “The angle of your camera” does not fall under) is either a bug, or an exploit.
How do you you feel about using HS in front of a wall to stay in the BP and stack stealth?
This falls into that category based on the above statement, however I don’t think of it as either. This may be alluded to though when you mentioned “outside of game mechanics.” Just wondering

HaHa, well it looks like it.
I have included skills from other weapon sets with the idea of using a weapon swap and swapping back after you have caught up.
I don’t find it disrespectful.
We have access to weapon swaps and I think it’s fair to include this for potential solutions to a problem.
(edited by OIIIIIO.7825)
Yes Sir Vincent III.1286 that is serious. That is a warrior suggestion and I really mean it.
If you don’t mind a two thief party that would be best, however if you want different classes then I suggest Warrior Thief.
D/P is my favorite solution with

Q: Will Polymock come back as an activity in Guild Wars 2?
John Stumme: The original version of Polymock was one of those instances where we had something that we really wanted to be able to do, but we weren’t able to see it fully realized in Guild Wars. Polymock was one of Colin Johanson’s side projects during Eye of the North. He envisioned it as something that was fully turn-based, a very different game unto itself. It would have played up the collectible element, and the meaning to bringing different pieces into the game. Unfortunately, that wasn’t something we were able to do at the time with the resources we had, but it is something we can do with Guild Wars 2. So if you see Polymock making its return, it will be in a more robust implementation, to reflect what we had always wanted it to be."
I barely touched polymock in GW1, however I would love to see it come to it’s full potential in GW2.
Also remember there was a GW1 Card game.
(As an old school MTG player I would love this)
You can read more about the sealed play here

It would be nice to find out something new about this. Anet
I think it would make you about 20% cooler. – nods to J.S.
Hi, seeing as you are a fresh 80 I would suggest 1/2 Beserker and 1/2 Soldiers.
Beserker-Shoulders, Gloves, Boots
Soldiers- Head, Chest, Legs
This will give you a balance and as you learn the basics of a dungeon and find you aren’t having any trouble at all you can replace the Soldiers gear with Beserker
In the end from my experience you will live or die by the dodge and not the armor. So that is why I suggest eventually going full beserker once you know what you are doing
For GW2 I find “The best defense is a good offense”
+1
We have a very similar thread in our guild forums about this.

Permanent stealth is possible
It’s not easymode hit a button and your in stealth until you decide to break it.
It is like yski.7642 said you have to actively re-apply the stealth buff to maintain it. Stealth has a duration and you can maintain that duration through skill use/ traits.
*Note I only suggest stacking stealth to build up might stacks or to get away from a larger group of players (i.e. Zerg in WvW)

You may want to update the guide. I looked at the D/D and when I saw the reasoning on Improv I stopped.
Improv only benefits summoned Ele Bundles from my testing in the mists.
Improv is in a weird spot right now since it used to have synergy with steal.
Steal used to replaced your skill bar and give you a bundle that it would work with, however that was a very long time ago (possibly beta) and it’s only use I have seen is for RNG CDR

Asura!
1. Racial Skills http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/List_of_asura_racial_skills
a. on demand daze if you like to play heavy daze build
b. 15 seconds of AoE Weakness and poison
2. It will be more difficult for your opponents to read you in combat since you will have smaller animations in WvW and in PvP
3. Felicia Day! I am a fan of Felicia Day and she does the voice acting for a lot of the Asura Story (Personal Preference)
When playing a Super-Tanky Warrior in WvW it would be more beneficial for you to travel with a larger group of players (i.e. Following a Commander and Crew) This would allow you to be in the Front to soak up damage and prevent damage on others with you. (AoE has a 5 man cap* and if stacked you can mitigate most of it.)
*Siege weapons have a larger cap

Hi NemesiS.6749, I main a thief and would like to make some suggestions.
1. Try S/P, it is great for leveling since you get cleave damage and blinds
2. Keep Short bow as a weapon swap this will also allow you to do AoE Damage
3. Time your dodges vs mobs, they have a tell for their high damage skills
4. Build some Toughness and Vitality while learning to play thief as it will make it a less frustrating experience. As you get better and can hold your own replace toughness and vitality gear for more damage gear (In the End you will probably be Zerker- It’s GREAT!!)
5. If you have more questions for me feel free to pm or message me in Game

1. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Endure_Pain (note they have 2 sources for this)
2. Endure pain lasts 4 seconds base and can be boosted with traits to 5 seconds
3. There is an Icon that will appear when they use Endure Pain, try to look for it and count the duration out before attacking. (Similar to Shield Stance)

S/P Is good for far point harassment. I play Cruuk’s Build D/P & S/P.
I only use S/P when there is a spirit ranger or multiple targets for me to fight against. However the magic sauce is in the BP. Since the Blind *Fix it has gained more viability.
If you want to know what I have been using you can PM me for it. I will not link it directly because I like pantsforbirds.9032 and I think his build should get some recognition as well.
I don’t like the idea of a thief in heavy armor.
Wearing heavy armor clashes with the idea of high mobility.
I wouldn’t complain if they gave me more stats though

Hi Obed.7629
“Any readers (other than Yishis ) have success with prolonging stealth by using Black Power/HeartSeeker?”
Yes- I was reading Cruuk’s Guide http://intothemists.com/guides/guide.php?id=5
and he suggested in the comments to do this…
“Ya a good thing to do is make a square of the black powder as you heartseeker through it. Kind of cutting the corners so to speak. Or you can just angle the camera on the 3rd heartseeker as you come back into it. Once you nail the 4 combo the real challenge comes with trying to avoid hitting anything.” -10:52 PM, Fri July 19 2013

Hey Kabuki, make sure to check out Jumper’s Stream and some of his recorded videos. He has tutorials on using this build that are very helpful. I will link one that shows you evasion frames as it was a tremendous help to me.
Can you provide a video what you are experiencing so we can analyze it to give you better feedback?
Just mentioning something I heard Jumper say on the SoaC Thief podcast
Jumper (pro player) Tested Using Pistol with Rabid, Beserker, and Carrion gear.
Results: Both Beserker and Carrion gear were more DPS that the Rampager set.
I hope this helps
Thanks Jumper! Always great to have pro players like yourself making guides! Keep it up!
I can confirm at least 15 and I still have the option to get more.

^ Hey Tower it’s for the Flanking Strikes, it’s easier to keep up first strikes as well.
I agree, it’s nice to have a place where you can talk to anyone in pvp reguardless of where they bought the game or made their homeserver.
That means we can chat it up with the Europeans as well. (woohoo)
Most recent Red post was from a CC appologizing about the delay on making sure a thread go stickied.
Anet Can we please have more feedback in the Thief Forum from your developers

It’s my understanding that fully buffed thieves have more dps than fully buffed warriors.

This is great! Thanks for doing this!

Legendary Rapier?
[&AgGzqQAA]
This doesn’t look legendary, but I believe it has the highest chance of being the next in game weapon since it’s in the dat file.
Which weapon do you use the most?
I would base it off this, since you don’t want to put all that work into an item that will sit in your bag. I have The Dreamer, and The Bolt atm.
(When I finish map completion I will have The Quip)
Bolt is a great choice- I like that I can stack the aura with other weapons.
