The only boss where watching Defiant stacks is “good” (not necessary mind you, but a good idea) is the final boss of the Dredge Fractals.
Everything else you can just plow through regardless.

How is Gift of Battle “Gift of Jumping”? Don’t you just have to play normal WvW to get that one
Edit: Looked it up and you can indeed get them from the Jumping Puzzles, but that really does not mean you HAVE to do Jumping Puzzles to get enough Badges to get the gift.
Normal WvW sucks for Badges. Running the JP everyday with as many low-level alts as possible is standard when farming for your Legendary. Most, if not all, guides on the subject of Legendaries recommend it.
1. You don’t get any for capturing objectives. This is standard for most MMORPGs with the same system, like WAR: Warhammer Online. Age of Reckoning.
2. Badge drops from players are rare. Very rare. Most of the time it is white trash, rarely a green/blue item.
3. Badge drops from players are easy to miss since the bags are so tiny and the action moves across the map.
Don’t want to derail the thread further, but it truly is Gift of Jumping, not Gift of Battle.

Just chuck in 20 Tokens as a final reward.
Problem solved.

I don’t care about these holiday jumping puzzles. They are just a gimmick that won’t last forever. What really grinds my gears is Gift of Battle – or should I say – Gift of Jumping!

I’ve grown aware of ressing random people.
I’ve found that most people I found dead out in “the wild” (so to speak) are actually players who have gone AFK and gotten killed by mobs passing by. When I ress them, they will unavoidably get killed a second time and adding one more broken armour piece for them to repair.
Makes me feel like somewhat of a kitten.

If they have fixed the Godskull “exploit” I really wouldn’t recommend it.
Do you even lift, bro?
So it will be team instance? Awesome! It’s impossible to do with random people (well almost). I had a nice try yesterday till Toxx came and was knockbeck back inside center…. 5 sec later we had no def…… Doing this with friends would be not only easier but also much more fun game experience
No, due to the limitations of the sPvP system (or somesuch) it is impossible. They will instead make the achievement very, very easy to get.

Asura Warriors/Guardians are sooo cliché.
Do you even lift, bro?
I am not entirely sure how it works, but
I believe the Sigil in the Mace would only apply to F1, 1,2 and 3 while a Sigil in the Shield would only apply to 4 and 5.

That whole area is “iffy”.
In GW1 there were implications that Norns and Humans can, and will, have children.
Do you even lift, bro?
and there exists a race of large, humanoid creatures that have somehow survived the eons despite having a general racial bent towards getting themselves slaughtered in extreme and creative ways (the Norn).
Pffft. Norns that do get slaughtered in extreme and creative ways don’t get to breed, y’know?
Only the ones that do survive will!

Wait a minute…
Thieves are not Samurais!
I can understand the Ninja comparison, but Samurais?

“Wizards” will always be more powerful, when you think about it. They have the ability to manipulate reality like conjuring up a tornado of fire from thin air. No matter how good you are at swinging that sword around, I just don’t see that being at the same scale of “power” as being able to wield magic.
Like Lord of the Rings: none of the “physical” heroes ever come close to the power of the “magical” ones, i.e Aragorn vs. Gandalf

Killer Whale Quaggan.
That’s a scary thought.
Do you even lift, bro?
Agreed. There is a reason why that was put in there in the first place.

And we got absolutely trounced by just about every set of mobs we encountered. Just regular trash mobs took every ounce of strength we had to defeat, and we ended up zerg-rushing most of the bosses, especially Vassar and Relena. I was literally completely naked by the end of it, and all of us were sufficiently frustrated. In total it took us close to two hours.
That’s your first problem: believing in trash mobs. There are no trash mobs in dungeons; even the regular enemies range between Veteran and Champion in power. Don’t underestimate them. Treat them with the caution you’d give those kinds of mobs, like avoiding as many attacks as possible instead of thinking you can tank them.
Second problem: The Lovers. They are arguably the hardest thing in AC (except perhaps Lt. Kholer in exploration mode) and unless you know how to deal with them, they are the crusher of newbies. The trick to most AC story mode bosses are Boulders, especially The Lovers. These ignore Defiant stacks and will always knock them down. So for The Lovers you have one guy grabbing a Boulder and knocking one of them up against a wall, so that he can spam Boulders on the boss (if there’s a wall behind the boss, the Boulder will land by your feet and you can pick it up again for another toss) while the others kick the crap out of the other boss.

Warriors are definitely a lot squishier than Guardians because we lack all the self-healing those guys get. You have to trade hits; you can’t just stand there and slug it out all day.
Sometimes you have to roll away and use Healing Surge before getting back into the thick of it, while a properly specced/geared Guardian can just stand there all day taking it in the face by the mob.

I’d really like to hear a dev post about why they did this and what they intend to do about it.
You and me both. Not only is it too hard for your average group, but it is also sooo buggy that you can’t but ask if it is really intended to work the way it does…
Do you even lift, bro?
As Shouts are affecting allies by default, yes.
Yes it does.
Do you even lift, bro?
Very, veeeery poorly done.
Giving them out to all players like that without an official explanation (random youtube video don’t count) – what are we expected to believe other than they are messing with us by giving us 50 Cogs short of a third pet?!
Do you even lift, bro?
I was content and happy with just getting two.
But then they make Tixx give you 200 Cogs, just 50 short of another toy!
Why?! Just to mess with us? Such a kitten tease!
Do you even lift, bro?
Appreciate you taking the time testing it.
Any idea if 4 and 5 acts similarly? i.e they apply their knockback/down before the damage?
That…. is an excellent question. I’ll be right back.
Denied. The 25% damage increase was never applied to the damage for Backbreaker/Staggering Blow unless one was used immediately before the other. With no gear/amulet on in the Mists, it was a very clear distinction between when 25% was applied and when it wasn’t. While testing, I had no traits besides 20 points in Defense and Merciless Hammer (while testing when it was active).
Aw man, that’s a real shame.
Do you even lift, bro?
Be glad it isn’t as ridiculous as the Legendary Mace!
I agree whole-heartedly that something has to be done.

Like Snowball Mayhem and the Bell Choior, the Toypocalypse is an activity. They are using the same systems, and these systems do not permit joining by party. Unfortunately due to technical limitations and time constraints before the holidays, we cannot change it. We understand that this is not ideal for people who wish to play in the same party and who are finding it difficult in random groups. We will be adjusting the “Toypocalypse Cancelled” achievement so that you will need to keep only one gift dolyak alive. We do not have an ETA on when this change will be live. Thank you for your feedback. We have been listening, and we will take your comments on board for future game updates.
So the answer is to make the game easy, instead of providing a fun challenge for groups of friends and guilds to use teamwork to complete? Is this really the right direction?
From what I understand, this is not a “direction” they are going, but rather an emergency fix. By “direction” he most likely means trying to find an alternative to using the sPvP system for events like these in the future…?
Do you even lift, bro?
Appreciate you taking the time testing it.

Do you even lift, bro?
Nope, but I would still hang onto them (chuck them into your bank) until you come across a Guild nice enough to have left one of their Karma Boosting banners behind.
EDIT: A Karma Booster works on these things too, so if you can get your hands on one of those it is worth saving a bunch of Karma vials and use the Booster+Guild banner and chug ’em all!

Well, I got a really masculine name for my Norn Warrior. So even if I wanted to utilize the gender change, I couldn’t do so because it would be so… wrong. I’m pretty sure other people are in the same situation.

Running AC exploration mode is an easy and painless way to acquire your first Exotics. Though sadly the stat combos on those aren’t ideal for all builds…
Do you even lift, bro?
Players will not go there because Karka are annoying enemies; just like the Risen in Orr. You can prop it up with as many events as you want, I’m still not going there except for that Rich Oricalchum Vein.
Especially after they propped up DR and worsened the loot in general!

Doesn’t Lich Form grant Stability for the duration?
Not that it matters, an Elite Skill is hardly useable to counter the spamming.
Do you even lift, bro?
That’s not at all what I am saying, no.
Do you even lift, bro?
I have also seen that technology used on tuna and sharks. And yes, there were Asura in the area.
The plot thickens… Did they have laz0r beams on their heads perchance?
Do you even lift, bro?
You managed this with a group of randomers?
Hat’s off to you sir and/or madam.

Except that when attacked with projectiles he puts up a 50+ hit invunerability shield that also reflects projectiles.
Oh joy.
Do you even lift, bro?
I kinda like the Longbow in WvW, where you can use the AoEs to hit people on walls and stuff. If you had tried to shoot them with the Rifle, you would’ve gotten “Obstructed”.
Do you even lift, bro?
I haven’t tested, but I believe the stun on Earthshaker applies before the damage.
If true that is very, very interesting! You should totally test it, for Great Justice!
Do you even lift, bro?
Too bad it is very, very hard to work out any sort of strategy with randomers…

Come on Anet – why did you give us these? Its a big tease!

Where/How do you even enter it?

Do you even lift, bro?
Shouldn’t it either be “Rune of Orr” or “Rune of the Orrian”…?

Dunno about the metal (hard to tell), but it is definitely Remembrance for the pelt/fur between her legs.

The overhead swing with a real long charge-up animation?
Yeah, that’s their Knockdown.

Compare it to the Mace Trait:
20% more damage against targets afflicted with Weakness.
1 on Mace pretty much guarantees that they are afflicted by it 24/7!

I stares into my soul…

I re-traited real quick and went to test it against some Ettins ouside of LA. Not only did it trigger properly, but the initial Knockdown effect from the Ettin failed as well.

Coddler’s Cove.
They even have adorable little bows on their heads!
