You should always lug a Warhorn around with you, if only for getting around faster.
Do you even lift, bro?
Earthshaker is sort of exempt from this discussion though; it is probably the only Adrenaline skill that is designed right in that it actually has a unique function that it performs very well, unlike the Greatsword/Axe (it isn’t that much more damage when you lose all your Adrenal traits on your following auto-attacks after you’ve used it).
Do you even lift, bro?
It is not just “not favor your chosen strategy” it is blatantly horribly designed.

Rune of the Soldier is a good choice if you’re using healing Shouts.

Lovely, lovely and lovely.

Does this shout remove two conditions with full set of Soldier Runes?

Equip a Greatsword.
Mobility up the wazoo!

Nothing beats the Mace for tanking.
You get perma-Weakness (which is huge in mitigating damage), an Interrupt and a secondary Block.

Hi.
I used to play GS/ Rifle build in most exps and also in pvp and www but few days ago bought two crit axes, just to try them( cause they were quite great in leveling) .
First run was not so welcoming ,BUT after i bought nourishment for 40% health steal per crit it just went unbelieveble well. As i have 48 crit chance plus 12% for 3 stacks of adrenaline i have asurvivability of a tank. I must admit that axe/ axe gives a good challenge to GS in dps.The tactics are just hilariously easy; all you have to do is just use all buttons Except F1 ( really no point in it, itjust slows you( all your main damage is going out your auto attacks) Also a vital skills appears to be The shout which giveslus 20% crit and also frenzy even despite of increase of incoming damage.
So i recomend everyone to try this build, but i dont really know about the second weapon,as for me its the matter of choise,i personally prefer rifle.
Due to the way Forceful Greatsword works, a Greatsword build will always be superior to an Axe build.
Sadly…

It is not so much “hate” as it is “envy”.
Guardians are just far better tanks.
I too can tank Kholer without support, but a Guardian can do it semi-afk.

Heighten Focus still doesn’t apply in the Hero panel. Just still have to go on blind faith that it works…

Get rid of the signets except signet of rage in later levels they don’t add anything.
Signet of Stamina is one I often find myself using. The extra Endurance adds quite a lot of survivability. Plus, the active effect (cleanse ALL Conditions) is pretty handy.
But the Signets that just add a chunk of stats? Fuggedaboutit…

Personally I’ve just given up on fighting underwater mobs.
It is just so aggravating to have them “cheat” like this.
Do you even lift, bro?
The main problem is that no weapon-specific trait comes near the awesomeness of Forceful Greatsword…
Do you even lift, bro?
Of course there is a major flaw in the Dolyak Signet:
It both sucks and blows in comparison to Signet of Judgement, despite having the exact same description.

On a more creepy note: that is how it looks on female asura as well.
Nip-slip!

I’m running with:
Power/Toughness/Vitality for armor pieces. (Dungeon set)
Power/Toughness/Precision for weapons. (Knight variety)
Power/Precision/Crit damage (Ruby Orichalcium Accessories)
Probably far from ideal, but it gets the job done.

I vaguely remember hearing that after we use vengeance and we die again it adds to our repair cost, correct?
The Vengeance effect does not go away when you respawn.
So if you activate Vengeance and die from regular damage (not the countdown expiring) you will still have the Vengeance effect ticking down after you’ve respawned, ending with a “double death” as the effect runs out and you die again, resulting in two counts of damaged equipment.
It sucks, especially since you’re eager to respawn and get back into the action. But nope, gotta wait it out before respawning…
Do you even lift, bro?
It’s just another one in a long line of things that makes Guardians that much better at tanking than Warriors…. sadly.
Do you even lift, bro?
I use Power/Toughness/Vitality for armour.
“Berserker” for accessories and “Knight” for weapon.
All out Berserker is too flimsy, if you ask me.

See title. It is very annoying because some hair colours are just “off limits” because they look horrible with my choice of beard… The facial hair is an entirely different shade of the colour chosen.

Warriors need to gain access to the Protection buff to make us more viable as tanks, I reckon.

Hammer: This is one is amazing. ‘nuff said.
Mace: Got some nice utility.
Sword: Awesome due to it’s utility.
Axe: Very, very nice damage.
Greatsword: Not worth the Adrenaline.
Rifle: Same as axe, just not as quick to fire.
Longbow: I guess it is alright if you’re a Condition build.
Do you even lift, bro?
Axe/Axe is fun (also more kitten-looking that Greatsword if you ask me!). Shame the Axe trait isn’t as nice as Forceful Greatsword, but what the heck… if you like it, go for it!
The F1 for Axe is definitely heaps better than F1 for Greatsword (anyone even bother to use it?). In fact, Axe F1 is one of my favourites.
Do you even lift, bro?
I don’t know the exact chance, but I’ve been “saved” quite a few times by killing an enemy or two in Vengeance(don’t think the tooltip even mentions it). I also recall there being a trait that ups the chance to 100%…?
And even if you don’t get revived the skill is very, very useful. Many a dungeon runs have been saved because I used Vengeance to bring up the downed team mates before getting killed myself. I really wish they’d fix the “double death” bug with it though.
Also, the Wiki states:" Effect can be cancelled by achieving 100% health. You will NOT be defeated. One way to do this is when you regenerate health upon leaving combat."
I did not know that.

@Oglaf
With the way you’ve been responding to every point in the warrior’s favor, I think your solution is obvious..
If they added class change tokens in the Gemstore, I’d be a Guardian faster than you can say “tank” though.
ROLL A GUARDIANWarriors perform far better than guardians at certain roles, and vice versa, if you’re only willing to listen to warrior cons and dismiss the pros, then just play a bloody guardian.
Back on topic, the warrior cannot eat hits like a guardian. The warrior can outdamage the guardian by far though.
The warrior can lock down single targets or entire groups, effectively saving everybody on their own instead of relying on shaky aggro tables. Less effective on bosses, true, but on trash a warrior is godlike.
The warrior, even when glass, won’t die if hit a few times. The thief… well a fart in his general direction will screw him over.
I can’t be bothered to level a Guardian from scratch. I’ve invested so much time and effort in my Warrior to gear him in full Exotics and crap…

30 Defense.
30 Tactics.
10 to spare.

This is going to lead to some unexpected comedy, for sure! Meet Bob The Manly, the transsexual Norn!

I wouldn’t call 25% (34 with H.F) to be “no crit” though.
I frequently score critical hits.
Do you even lift, bro?
Long story short, I’ve got 10 points to spare.
Strength:
100 Power
10% Condition duration
Berserker’s Power
Discipline:
10% Critical Damage
1% Burst damage
Heightened Focus
Which one would you prefer?
I have 5% critical chance by default, but I can pretty much perma run Fury for 25%.
Do you even lift, bro?
You’re talking out of your behind. But I digress, that isn’t what this thread is about. Regardless of how easy or hard you feel PvE is, the point still stand that Guardians are so much better at it that they make Warriors pointless.
Do you even lift, bro?
(edited by Oglaf.1074)
But Warriors definitely DPS better whether its AoE or boss fights.
And all other classes DPS way better than a Warrior.
TL;DR PvE is mostly about damage and clearing as quickly as possible.
I disagree. You’ll want some beefy guy up front to attract attention. Clearing a dungeon with all DPS classes in Light Armor is a lot more time consuming than 4 DPS 1 Tank (read: Guardian) because you don’t wipe.
Do you even lift, bro?
Still does not change the fact that the Warrior isn’t nearly as generally useful as a Guardian (who needs Battle Standard when a Guardian can hold a mobs attention 24/7?)
Do you even lift, bro?
Guardian is a bruiser as well. As I said, don’t turn a blind eye to the fact that Guardians do very, very nice damage if they so chose.
Anyway, you’re all (I assume) just talking about PvP. Show a PvE example where a Warrior is preferable to a Guardian.
There are none.
Do you even lift, bro?
It is a Thief-wannabe.
Plus, lets not pretend Guardians can’t do damage if they so please.
So I ask you again: what defining feature makes Warriors not a weaker version of the Guardian?
Do you even lift, bro?
If I wanted DPS, I would’ve rolled a Thief or something.
All classes must deal “Damage”,
All Classes must coordinate “Control & Support”Honestly, playing a different class is just playstyle prefferences in how you enjoy executing them incombat. If all you focus on is DPS, you’ll be in trouble.
Doesn’t change the fact that if you’re out for DPS, you’re better off with a Thief. When I read “Heavy Armour” I expected something other than a wannabe-Thief…
Class change token in Gem Store, please?
Do you even lift, bro?

So what exactly are Warriors good for? If you go loldps you suffer from what I call “The Thief Syndrome” – if a mob as much as fart in your direction, you drop “dead”…

As a tank-specced Warrior, I just marvel at how much better my friend’s Guardian is at tanking. His health bar barely moves in dungeons. Even with 30/30 in Defense/Tactics, my Warrior isn’t anywhere near as tanky…
Do you even lift, bro?
That might work as a temporary solution, but I’d rather they fix the kit instead.
Do you even lift, bro?
It all hinges upon the existence of a back item that is totally neutral; not soulbind on acquire nor use.
Do you even lift, bro?
Sad to see that months after release the 1 ability of this weapon kit still can’t hit anything unless you remain stationary.
Ironic considering the ability’s description.
Do you even lift, bro?
I did a search and I found an old thread (2 months+) saying that it will be coming soon.
When exactly…?
Do you even lift, bro?
The problem is that for it to work you need a neutral, non-soulbound piece of whatever armor you’re doing it with.
As far as I know, there are no such back items in the game.
You kidding? Open the TP and type (I think) backbrace, or just back and you’ll see plenty of ‘em. I’ve bought a bunch just to see if any of them had any cool looks (turns out they all look like nothing!)
I tried with those, it does not work.
They still have Soulbound status on them; Soulbound on Use.
They will become Soulbound when Transmuting.
You need a “clean” back item that does not mention Soulbinding whatsoever.

means you can still do this for starter goggles then?
Yes.
I created a Noobineer just now and am now rocking the Goggles at least.
EDIT: Sadly they look rather awkward on Charrs…

Yeah what pwncakes said might have worked in beta but not anymore. I have been trying to find a way to get that backpack too but seems like there is no other way to acquire it other than that was your choice in beginning.
On a side note I regret choosing the eye patch one since those are craftable but the other two aren’t. I would have rather taken those other silly goggles instead.
Really? Man that sucks so hard. They should let all those who were suckered into getting the monocle pick another piece then; be it goggles or backpack!
Do you even lift, bro?
All backpieces I’ve found are Souldbound on Aquire.
Do you even lift, bro?
Please, please tell me there is a way to transmute it somehow to my Engineer? They didn’t tell me that every single crafted “helm” has the looks of the stupid monocle I picked over that sexy backpack…
