Since you can salvage things from your material storage and not from your wallet it is a good thing they are there.

For the last time. We do not need the ability to salvage these currencies to obtain unbound magic! They can receive the pristine fractal relic treatment, where you use these currencies to buy a box that gives you a random amount of unbound magic. This technology already exists in the game!

The problem of them taking space in your bag has already been adressed why does it still trigger you so much? Besides some of them are basically crafing mats so it makes sense for them to be there. It would be cofusing to have half in the wallet and half in the bank.

That’s the thing, in my opinion the problem has not been addressed. As soon as you hit 250 of these currencies, your storage will be full and it will start piling up in your inventory again. This isn’t a solution to the problem.

kitten that. There’s zero fun if there is no danger to you. But that is exactly what you are asking for.

That’s your opinion, and you’re entitled to it. If that’s how you feel, then you should activate the challenge mote, and that should provide you with the sort of experience that you want from the game. But the experience that you want is not the same experience that everyone wants, and either of us trying to insist on the other player playing how we want to play would be misguided.

Take your own advice. The experience you want is not what everyone else wants.

Whether you choose to believe it or not, players have been asking for content that actually offers a challenge. You are in the vast minority where you want fights that never, ever pose danger to your character.

Any chance the shadowstoneor the krait oil thingy made us a super human (charr, cabbage, norm or rat). And that allowed us to deal with his gaurd gods? Remember he was bussy absorbing the magic so all we had to do was deal with his hounds. (extra rp point of you used the balthazar raicial during that fight)

Not a chance. That’s just current events, not part of the LWS3 story afaik. So canonically your character doesn’t have to have completed that quest yet before he goes to fight Balthazar

That’s if those leaks are real. I don’t know if anyone else noticed the dual wielding pistol mesmers in the last LS episode.

A lot of work was put into those images if they weren’t real. A lot of work. I can’t imagine what someone would stand to gain from making them look so GW2-ish. No market manipulation was in that leak at all, so they stand to gain nothing at all from putting in a lot of work if that leak was fabricated.

Plus, this isn’t the first leak that mentioned mesmer getting Axe either

I really hope the new elite has the same effect in it like the chrono: time marches on….since i can´t think of my mesmer without the Speed boost (that some other classes can get with their signet…i dont think we can equip both elite at the same time…why? well when you are without elite your class Symbol is a mask…when you have the elite your class Symbol is a clock….so the new elite will probaly give us a new class Symbol…and since you then can not equip 2 new symbols, you can not equip 2 elite i think…or they have symbols for mixed elites (wich would be awesome)…
(also i am waiting for the Chance that since you can have 2 weapon sets equipped, maybe you can have 2 trait lines that swap automatic when you Change your weapons…so 3 traits in tab one for weapon-set 1 and 3 traits in tab two for weaon-set 2….but this is just wishful thinking by myself…….hope never dies XD..since you know have 6 trait lines and with the new elite would be 7… )

We already have signet of inspiration that provides 50 percent uptime of swiftness.

We still have weapons like focus that gives swiftness and staff that gives some mobility. In addition to blink utility, I don’t think we will suffer that much in mobility w/o time marches on.

Yea, we have the tools to get swiftness uptime, but I’m gonna miss how easy it was with chrono.

Its not about the number of skills, but that elite spec weapons can be more powerful than core weapons. Take chronos shield. It offers alacrity (something that should be unique to chronomancer line), and 2 blocks as well as quickness and huge CC with Shield 5. Its a fantastic defensive weapon, and can allow you to get 2 phantasms up incredibly quickly.

How would it be balanced if the next mesmer elite spec was entirely offensive in nature, and got MH axe? They would be allowed all of the power from that spec line, all of the offensive stuff, with almost all of the sustain built into chrono by using chronos shield. Then you have a huge bruiser, dealing huge damage and also having extremely high sustain. That’s not balanced.

Restricting elite spec weapons to their respective lines makes sure a scenario like that can never happen.

Queen Jenna identity [spoilers]

in Lore

Posted by: OriOri.8724

OriOri.8724

Queen Jenna’s power can’t be explained legitimately in lore. No human has that much magical powers. The only explanation is that she’s not human, leading me to believe she is a human god in disguise. Mesmers have the power of illusion, so it’s easy for them to trick people. A god mesmer would be more powerful.

I beg to differ. There’s some theories going around that the keystone is in fact in DR. Queen Jennah, being (supposedly) of Royal Descent could be channeling energy from said keystone (possibly without even knowing about it), which would amplify her powers way beyond what any regular human could hope to achieve. We can see in game what a mesmer souped up on Bloodstone power is capable of with Xera, so I wouldn’t put what Jennah did in episode 4 out of the reach of a regular human

You’re over exaggerating on how hard this fight is. Its fine if you have trouble with it, but don’t exaggerate so much man. Try to actually learn the fight and what the dogs do.

Constant multi tier maps? LWS3 has released 5 maps so far, and only 2 of them have been multi tier maps. So this comes with the caveat of: it’s speculation.

I suspect anet is balancing around new elite specs, and have been for at least 6 months or so.

So, considering the leaks/rumours/whatever about warrior, spellbreaker, and dual daggers.. This could be pulling inspiration from gw1 skills very easily.

https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Assault_Enchantments
https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Shattering_Assault

These two look like candidates for spell-breaker-y skill inspiration.

If that’s true then the new elite specs better be kitten well balanced at release. As it is, its pretty unforgivable to have classes almost untouched balance wise for a year+

LV3 has 6 episodes - next expansion near?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: OriOri.8724

OriOri.8724

…our rough plan is to slot the expansion pack into the release cadence as if it were an episode: episode 5, then episode 6, then the expansion pack, then episode 1. But we’ll make some allowance for the fact that shipping an expansion pack is a big deal logistically and will probably take longer than the 2~3 months we normally allocate between episodes.

I translate that as:

  • Episode 6 appears late July or August
  • Expac November or December, but maybe later
  • LS4 probably launches March (more than 3 months, but ANet is usually lightly staffed in Dec & Jan)

Mind you, none of those dates are “promised” — things can (and probably will) change. Just that for a change, those who are overhyped aren’t exaggerating the release date by much.

That said, ANet has usually had about 5-7 months between official announcement and the actual launch November is 6 months away.

I think launching the expac when they are lightly staffed (according to you, I don’t know one way or the other) would be a very bad idea. There are going to be a lot of hot fixes that will need to come with an expansion release, and no matter how much they tested the elite specs, its almost guaranteed that we will need a pretty quick balance patch, along with potentially hotfixing the reward structure/difficulty like they did with HoT. That’s a lot to put on your plate when you aren’t fully staffed due to the holidays.

Not only is the design of Rodgort 10x better, it’s a reference to both Home Star Runner and a set of fire spells from GW1. This candlestick monstrosity never stood a chance.

I won’t buy it at all until after players get a look and comment. And even then:

  • It can’t as hard to play as HoT was.
  • Gating cannot exist beyond a small amount. LS S3 has gating about where it needs to be. HoT was and still is gross as regards gating.
  • The maps need to be not as disgustingly hard to navigate. Some kind of clear method of showing up and down needs to exist. Similar to how nodes are now, except for passages (once they’ve been discovered, of course).

Those are deal-breakers for me. It needs to be much more casual-friendly (than HoT was) for me. If it’s clear they listened only to the tiny minority of players who want things harder, I won’t buy it.

I agree Daddicus, in fact I have no faith that anet can produce a game as exciting as the core game. For me, it will depend upon whether there is a good mix of differing game styles or just more of the same of poor mastery and hero point collections and platforming of HoT.

Where as I have the opposite problem. I’m not sure that Anet can produce an expansion as good as HoT which I like considerably more than the core game.

You really don’t think they can match HoT, a rushed expansion?

I actually think this fight was pretty well tuned. There was enough space on the platform to move around, no walls messing with the camera, and only 2 enemies, no adds at all to worry about. Yes, the AoEs could stack up, but if you managed your space pretty well it was alright, and if you ever needed to you could always just hop off and glide for a bit, waiting for the AoEs to end.

My first death was literally two seconds into the fight. The two dogs lunged at me and I was dead. Not really any time to react to that. It hadn’t occurred to me to just run away and glide for a bit, but I don’t think that should necessarily be part of the tactics of the fight, at least not on the default level. Again, if that’s a mechanic that they want for the “Challenge” version, great, but the default should not be the Challenge version.

The dogs do not hit hard enough to down you in 1 hit, even if both of them land that hit at once. And even if they did, they didn’t lunge immediately after their models spawned in, you were given a second or two to react to them.

The main thing you’re confused about, OP, is twofold:

Firstly, you think that we’ve been trying to get the two dragons to directly attack each other. This is false – Taimi’s device, as shown in this episode, was to siphon the energies from the Elder Dragons and exchange them, paralyzing and killing the two Elder Dragons.

Secondly, the killing would be simultaneous. If any Elder Dragon were to absorb their magic, it’d be Kralkatorrik and the DSD. Which by Taimi’s theory are opposites so she was just going to use the machine on those two next.

But this wouldn’t work for reasons Taimi brings up in this episode.

Basically, after the machine is stolen by Not Lazarus, she runs a simulation of what would happen if the machine is used since she couldn’t run a small-scale test a second time, and it turns out that Tyria will go bye bye if even one more Elder Dragon is killed.

So we have to stop Not Lazarus from using the machine, and that’s the plot of episode 5!.

Careful there, so far that’s just a theory she has. And iirc at the end of episode 5 she does have 1 line that’s something close to “I might be wrong”. She could be wrong about this, and we will get back to killing the dragons, who knows?

Is that a lighting bug? I just thought some parts of the map were really dark.

Overall I really enjoy this map. Difficult enough to navigate that you don’t know where everything is as soon as you enter it (like all core tyria maps), yet laid out in such a logical manner that its easy to find out what path you need to take to get to where you want to go.

From an exploration standpoint, I think it has by far the most replay ability of any LWS3 map so far. I haven’t tried out the new mastery yet, but I imagine it makes traveling even more fun in this map.

I think that, mapwise, my biggest disappointment is that the effect allowing you to enter the heart of the volcano disappears after you complete the story, and that there is no new part of the map you unlock that you can then explore. It wouldn’t need to have any PoI or Vistas (so you can map complete without doing the story), but I think it would have been cool to unlock a new explorable part of the map that way. But that’s just a minor thing to me.

I’ve been so badly hurt financially when I’ve sold off stuff in previous years only to then need 1000s of it to craft something, that I hoard everything!! Pretty much every single crafting mat from the dregs to the very most expensive, I keep. I have a storage expansion to 500, when I hit that, I transfer to mules, & keep on filling up. I have ten of thousands of some mats. I don’t care, never again will I be pray to TP manipulators, recipe changes & new items spiking stuff. It’s a false economy when so much can be manipulated by wealthy players. I remember the very early days when it all started, when leg weps & precursors were simply bought out by a few players & then drip-fed back into the market when required. It happens all the time with everything that has any value, low to high. So now, I simply save absolutely everything.

You definitely take this to the extreme, but you point out a valid concern that a lot of players have regarding “hoarding” their items.

Anet has a history, especially in the last few years, of introducing new recipes/changing old recipes to require absolutely massive amounts of some mats. So why on earth would we have an incentive to sell something it, at any time, Anet could change a recipe to now require hundreds, or even thousands, of whatever items we just dumped our entire stock of? For a lot of players this risk isn’t worth the temporary reward of a few more silver, or a few more gold, because it has the potential to cost them way more than what they make in the long run.

I find arguing about the drop rate to be mostly meaningless regardless, because the root of the problem is the recipes. Discussions would be much better in my opinion if they centered around the recipes and not the drop rate from a particular farm.

But since you are asking, its not unreasonable to expect a higher drop rate for T6 leather from this farm than what you get from just regular play in LD and BF. Yet unstable hides, the ones you get all the time from regular enemy drops in those maps, have a higher drop rate for T6 leather than the bloodstone warped hides. So, considering its supposed to be a farm, the drop rates are way off its they are worse than just ambient play.

OK … say you’re asking me if it takes a year to get 10 hardened leather squares from the farm? No I don’t think it does.

No, I am saying it is a valid question to ask, even if the answer may vary from person to person.

I brought up 10 in a year to show that most people would not find it adrquate. So despite it being subjective there comes a point where it doesn’t help anyone.

A realistic scenario would be to ask how long it would take to gather the 180 needed for a set of armor.

It’s not relevant if some people find the rate of leather you get from the farm adequate. I mean, the very fact that this is subjective is exactly what it’s not a relevant question … Anet can’t reasonably choose a rate of leather drop that EVERYONE will find adequate. That’s just ridiculous. There is no objective way to kitten if the farm is successful … if you’re using subjective ways to measure it.

Do you find 9 hours acceptable, solely for the leather?

Does anyone here actually have a point of reference for this? How long did it take to get 180 through farming prior to Doric Lake? How does this question even matter?

A drop rate that everyone would find adequate would drop the price back into the 10s of copper as it was pre-HoT. What players need to do is plan ahead, farm a bit every few days so you build up a personal supply when you decide you need it, even if it’s not 180 for an entire set it would significantly decrease your out of pocket expense.

Except we live in a society now that demands immediate gratification. That’s why it’s all about rushing through the content as fast as possible and then complain there is nothing to do anymore.

Oh quit with that kitten “argument” already.

This comment is proof that you wouldn’t be satisfied if leather dropped so quickly from this farm that the price dropped to 10s of copper, so obviously not everyone would find that drop rate acceptable.

Stop trying to pass pure kitten off as actual arguments.

Well 11 months ago a dev said this: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Mystic-Coins-again/page/2#post6157178

Most of this price increase revolves around players that are pushing the value up due to the players willingness to pay more. If players are willing to pay more for an item, it’s going to keep increasing until eventually it hits a ceiling for the commodity. We’ve seen the same thing occur with numerous commodities over time.

Right now there is a consistent supply of mystic coins entering the game (way more than are being consumed) and churning through the trading post at a very slow rate. —-Most of the coins on the market are ones that have been flipped.-—

In retrospect, this is actually causing the daily login reward to be worth significantly more to players who wish to convert mystic coins to gold.

Although he didn’t specifically use the word “hoarding”, he gave a pretty good impression that: Most of the mystic coins are in FACT being hoarded by players intent on keeping the price high, because apparently some players seem to not mind the higher prices.

Oh and, remember earlier I pointed out a dev on Reddit said that 30k coins were purchased by 2 players? Well………….https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/5dmnfm/before_leaving_gw2_i_invensted_in_stuff_in_case_i/da5owid/ That was posted some time after the dev’s comment. Someone talking about buying 15k mystic coins for a future investment.

So…… that’s entirely misleading. I don’t know if Chris Cleary was trying to be misleading or not, but the information, as its presented, is incredibly misleading.

You absolutely must start looking at why average players will “hoard” their MC when they get them, instead of use them immediately.

Take a player who wants to craft 2 legendaries, Bolt and Nevermore, as an example. This player will need anywhere between 250 and 750 MC to craft both of those, depending on how many clovers they feel like farming from reward tracks and loyalty chests. That means that, if this player wants to obtain all of his MC himself, he has to wait about 8-10 months to get an entire stack of MC himself. This means that for 8-10 months, Anet sees him as “hoarding” his MC and not selling them, but they can’t see that he has already set them aside for aspecific recipe.

Because of the slow rate of acquisition and the high numbers needed in recipes, its not that rare for someone to “hoard” the MC they get from login rewards because they already have plans for them. Yet you are trying so hard to lump them in together with and act like they are the same as those players that will hoard thousands of MC to sell for profit. You need to stop doing that, or I can’t take anything you say on the matter seriously.

Wish things were less expensive in GW2

I actually don’t think its all that expensive considering almost all income for Anet right now comes from gem store sales. Would it be nice if stuff were cheaper? Hell yes, I would love it. At the same time, for a game that supports itself entirely through its gem store sales in between expansions, I think the prices are actually pretty fair for most of the items there.

I am not a fan of CoT. I remember that there was a guild chat video about it or something, where they said that they had to place rope markers to remind them of the path when they were making it.

In my opinion, if you can’t remember where the path goes when you are making it, then we need clearer guidance as to where to jump towards.

I also don’t like it, because I D/Ced after getting all the way up to the rim of the volcano. Not once, not twice, but I D/Ced 3 times after getting all the way up there, and had to start all over each time.

For that jump in particular, the one you have an image of, I remember there being some trick to it that made it super easy. I mean it was never a hard jump, just frustrating if you just hit spacebar repeatedly until your character somehow managed to make it up.

For anyone reading this who hasn’t done CoT yet, do it on a chronomancer with mimic, portal and WoA, using IA trait. It makes it almost bearable.

Well the new leak on Reddit, the legitimacy of which should be confirmed/denied with the patch tomorrow, indicates that the current events we get after episode 5 will wrap up the rifts/portal current even chain.

theres not much that could say the leaks are fake tommorow i think only the teaser on the new raid just that could make it not true

I don’t think you’ve seen the new one then. It made a bunch of direct statements about LWS3E5, including where the map is, what the collectible currency will be called, a reduction in the amount of leather required in all recipes, and a hint about where the story will go.

If all of that is true, then its strong evidence that the leaker has access to inside information. That, of course, doesn’t mean that everything in that leak is true, but it would lend a lot of credibility to the rest of it.
