Teaching you how to fight Reaper in WvW

reaper just need a CD on chill apply bleed trait like 5second CD an reaper fine

This. When one toon can stack 27 bleeds on you in a couple seconds, it needs tuning down a bit. Especially when combined with other toons that can throw chill around, bleed on chill just wrecks, then epi and it’s all over.

I’d make it around 8 seconds. One simple change would bring them back in line. No need to slaughter the entire class to fix the issue.

Epidemic needs to be nerfed to a max of 3 stacks of each condi, which would still make it ten times more effective than a staff ele’s meteor shower!

If deathly chill needs an ICD it shouldn’t be more than 1-2 seconds at the max. But a better way to balance it would be to just reduce it to 2 stacks of bleed if the trait is actually overperforming.

I don’t think it is though.

Mounts [merged]

OriOri.8724

Technically we already have mounts in the game. Same movement speed but still a mount of sorts. Flying broom stick and magic carpet come to mind. We do not need to become WoW just stop. Mounts of that nature are not needed in this game.

It would probably satisfy most of the calls for mounts that crop up every so often if Anet used this system to implement some creature mounts. There are a number of creatures in the game that could serve as mounts, and it shouldn’t be too big of a job to modify those assets and add in animations to have them rideable. Surely much less effort than adding a separate, more comprehensive mount system.

It wouldn’t. Most of the suggestions I see calling for mounts are looking for increased movement speed, in which case the executioners axe satisfies the requirements. And we already have the toys that satisfy they cosmetic requirement of riding something. So people want mounts literally just because they are a mount and other games have them.

I have yet to see a single argument about how mounts would actually make this game better.

I’m really confused as to why you brought chronomancer wells into this? I mean, chrono wells only have a 3 second duration, and the first 2 ticks on the utility wells are pretty crap honestly, which means that everyone has a huge telegraph to GTFO before the third tick happens. Necro wells on the other hand have substantially longer duration, and consistent effects at each tick.

Should necro wells be buffed? I honestly don’t really care. Some of them are rather underwhelming imo, but every class has skills like that. It would be interesting, to me at any rate, to reduce the duration of Necro wells, but also lower their base CD by a few seconds (5-10 at the most) and also giving them the chrono well treatment wherein the last tick is substantially more powerful than the first few.

Profession themed legendary armor?

It took them a really long time to get even these 3 skins out. Can you imagine how much longer it would take to get out at least 6 more skins (depending on whether these 3 are used for any specific class or not).

You mean 24 more skins.
There are 3 armor types and 4 races so that’s 12 skins for legendary armor right now.
If they had to make it per profession then…
(9 professions) x (4 races) = 36 skins

No, I meant 6 more armor sets, which would be 36 skins since its 6 skins per set. I just used skin by accident.

Yes, they would have to be made to fit the 4 different character rigs, but it would only be 6 more armor sets, only 36 more skins. Though it would be 144 more rigs/items or whatever to make.

Just strafe around in a circle and use ranged attacks for the entire fight. Bring 1 CC skill to break his bar later in the fight.

Most important thing is to keep moving, you have plenty of time to get out of all of his AoE circles as long as you keep moving in a circle around him .Farther away you are, longer his projectiles are in the air too, so gives you more time to get out of the AoEs.

Its a pretty easy fight f you do that

I tend to think that Lazarus is a male, and that we’re all going to slap our foreheads and say “I should have known” when it’s revealed. The deep timbre of the male voice that was chuckling quietly makes me think it’s someone we all know, but from a long time ago.

If someone is impersonating Lazarus, then they are extremely powerful. Powerful enough to assume the role of a Mursaat and not have anyone question their legitimacy. Powerul enough to survive a bloodstone explosion. So, given that amount of power, its not out of the realm of possibilities that it is a female and she is masking her voice.

The Biggest Problem With Class Balance

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

OriOri.8724

Of course the game isn’t designed around a player set meta, but that doesn’t mean that players don’t follow it.

As much as I personally hate meta kitten, the community at large follows it like a religion. And I can understand why. These buffs are extremely powerful, and contribute a lot to your DPS. And ultimately, on a PUG group where each individual players’ DPS will not be optimal, this is the best way to ensure success. Buffing DPS by as much as possible to ensure quicker kills, which means less time for someone to screw up.

To that end I don’t think its unreasonable to continue to request that Anet makes some modifications such that a single player can share their buffs with each player in a 10 man raid squad. This would immediately open up 2 more slots in these meta groups by making it so that you didn’t need 2 wars and 2 druids anymore, and it could potentially open up a third slot depending on how good of a chrono they have.

The Biggest Problem With Class Balance

Posted by: OriOri.8724

OriOri.8724

So I could have been more clear. A lot of people do agree that the single biggest thing Anet could do for class diversity in raid groups is to make all class specific effects (and to a lesser degree powerful boons like quickness and might) affect 10 players in raid maps. This would mean that you would no longer need 2 warriors or 2 druids to provide their buffs to the entire group, which would open up more slots for other classes to fill.

10 buttons needed for skills, 1 for dodging and 1 for jumping means 12 buttons minimum for combat, not to mention class mechanics, and then being able to change target/interact with NPCs and other pretty basic functionality for the game.

Edit – Oh and ofc weapon swap, means 13 buttons minimum just for combat to be on a fair playing field for combat.

Equipment Overhaul Idea

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

OriOri.8724

So, to me, this is about 3 or 4 suggestions wrapped up into a single post (nothing inherently wrong with that, but it makes it harder to reach consensus on any single idea as to whether the community likes it or not). And they are:

  • Removing stats from armor
  • Removing stats from runes
  • Having crests be the way we add stats (basically a crest overhaul)

Yes, they are related, but I don’t think runes really fit in with your suggestion about moving stats away from armor and onto crests. That’s a different issue entirely and would also benefit from discussing an entire rune overhaul (since some runes are almost entirely just adding stats and only have an effect on the 6th bonus, and other similar problems).

Back to the main suggestion at hand, its interesting for sure, but it does have its downsides. Namely, you lose out on a lot of granularity when adding stats with it. Right now, we can have whatever stat combination on our armor piece that we want, and then we can choose to supplement that with either a crest (more options in how to distribute our stats) or a rune (again, most of which come with stats). So right now each piece of armor gives us 2 places where we can pick the stats, the armor itself, and the upgrade slot. Your suggestion would remove one of those places where we get to choose, which ultimately can make it harder to get the “perfect” stat distribution you were going for, as its substantially more likely you’ll have wasted stats somewhere.

Secondly, I don’t see anywhere where you take into account doubloons. Platinum doubloons especially do see some use in Raids for their boon duration. How would you propose the game handles the situation where someone wants to take a doubloon on an armor piece (IDK why they would put it on an armor piece, but there’s no stopping them if they want to)? Should they just get no stats at all for that piece? Or should stats go on doubloons as well? Or would we lose the ability to put doubloons on armor pieces to get around this?

Another potential issue I see arising is how many stats each crest gets. Right now, each armor piece has different amounts of stats they give. Would you propose that crests give a variable amount of stats based on which piece they are equipped in? I don’t know if the engine can handle that (it could, but I just don’t know). Or would you propose to standardize the stats from crests, so its the same regardless of which armor slot you place it in. And if we go that route, what happens to the crafting cost for each piece? Right now they are, sort of, balanced around how many stats each piece gives. With chests taking considerably more mats than something like boots or shoes. Would the recipes be updated to reflect the homogenization of stats for each piece if we went this route?

Overall, I like this idea. There are a lot of details that need to be fleshed out, but I think it could have merit. I don’t know if it would make the game any better, but I do like the idea on its own.

Actually most people think its not balanced that you need to bring 2 each of wars, druids and chronos to share their buffs with the entire party. So that’s one area that Anet could tackle that would make everyone happy.

I’m not arguing that chrono is in a good spot with its unique utility. But you have zero clue how to go about diversifying the tanks. Taking away quickness from chrono will only open up the tank role in that chrono would be kicked out of groups. How does that improve diversity? It doesn’t.

You don’t even seem to understand why the chrono is always the tank.

You really hate distortion and I don’t understand why. Again though, the mesmer doesn’t even have to be the tank to provide distortion to the group, and likewise the mesmer could give distortion to the tank if the tank was not a chrono. Its not like these force the mesmer to be the tank. Its forced into that role because

A – It can still provide its party support while tanking

B – Its personal DPS is so miserable that putting the mesmer in toughness gear won’t change the overall group DPS at all.

If you guys honestly want to diversify the tank role you should be asking for mesmer to be given more damage, so that there’s actually a tradeoff to making chrono be the tank. That would do so much more than removing quickness from chrono.

And the player’s screenshot in their Reddit post (his/her screenshot has sensitive stuff about his/her guild blacked out already): https://i.imgur.com/FYwDYZU.jpg

This is proof of what has been said about players hoarding these, and why ArenaNet won’t do anything about it.

So there you go. Nothing to see here folks. Moving on.

This is exactly why we can’t have nice things. You didn’t even stop to ask why people are hoarding coins. And people hoard them because of the stupid situation they are in. If it wasn’t this bad, people wouldn’t be hoarding them at nearly the same levels as they do now, because there wouldn’t be a need to hold onto them.

Until you can look at and understand why the coins are being hoarded, you’ll never see that there is a problem with them.

OriOri.8724

The problem is monopoly these classes have on buffs.

take away druid’s party wide dps buffs, quickness from chrono and you already get a situation where:

a) healer can be rev, ele guard or druid
b) tanks can be: condi reaper (just slab some trailblazer next to viper), jalis/glint rev, guardian, ele or mesmer
c) might stackers – that’s really not an issue even at this moment. One warr for banners is the real must. Condi engi can stack quite a lot of might (blasting fire fields), i imagine ele could too, as well as boon duration guard.

If chronopoly on quickness and alacrity gets broken the bag of potential tanks gets open.
For extra healers nerf druid’s damage buffs.
For extra might stackers…well work a bit around how easy it is to do it on warr with no real price to pay for it.

chrono being able to generate quickness is not the reason its always the tank. Quickness chrono is always the tank because their personal DPS is already so low that the group doesn’t lose anything by the chrono not taking full offensive gear so they can pull and keep aggro, and because chrono can still tank while generating their quickness.

But there is nothing stopping them from just not tanking and still providing quickness and alacrity to everyone, nothing. So taking quickness away from chrono would do nothing but kick it out of raids completely.

Because that’d make a big shift between all the mystic coins stored just in case, and the amount traded between those who don’t care at all about them, and those who are craving for them.

AFAIK yes they do count your coins as “in stock”. And this is based off of JS’s last reply about MC (which was about a year ago) where he said that there was more incoming supply that coins being taken out of the game (ie sold to vendor, deleted, or used in a recipe). But he didn’t mention how many of the coins in the game were actually moving between accounts (which I strongly suspect is because those numbers would back up how a lot of players who speak up about MC feel towards them)

So you hit the nail on the head, and no one even needs an economics major to see that (not trying to belittle your major, its just blindingly obvious). Its easy for JS to say “there are tons of MC, people are just hoarding them and IDGAF why”, but he never seems to look at why people are hoarding MC. If he would do that, he’d notice that with no incentive to stop hoarding them (and indeed with incentive, directly from JS himself and the comments he’s made, are encouraged to hoard _ even more_ MC), people aren’t going to stop. So the bubble will never, ever burst on its own.

He needs to intervene, at least with leather.

I wouldn’t be worried about this honestly, after the initial flurry of people trying to get the new leg weapon (of which I’m sure most of them already had the gemstones ready) and trying to craft leg armor (same deal for a good deal of them I’d imagine), prices will drop again as this person realizes they made a bad investment and starts to release their supply.

But because of the fact that we can craft AG in the MC, that sets a ceiling on how high the price will get unless this person can corner all of those markets as well (which no individual player has enough gold to do so).

https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/67wrzq/suggestion_increase_mystic_coins_from_ley_line/

There are some good ideas in there in my opinion. Namely:

  • Increase coins handed out from Ley Line anomaly event. I’ve seen suggestions for 3, 4, and 6 coins for successful completion of the event
  • Add a guaranteed coin to TT chest. I personally love this one. It adds another source for them if people want to farm them, yet its still suitably difficult to achieve (I have experienced about a 66% fail rate when attempting TT. I’m still not sure if this is under average, above average, or average). Plus, adding incentive to TT chest might make the event easier to complete, by drawing more people (the failed runs I’ve been in have failed because not enough people who understood the encounter well enough to explain it to others were present).
  • Add a 3-5 coins to the chest for completing a daily dungeon

There may be more that I missed, but these stood out the most to me.

The point is, I have an option if I want a back item between two very different game modes. Not so for armour.

so your complaining anet hasnt commited suicide from caffeine working so hard to get 2 sets of Armour out at once and put them in different game modes at the same time? jesus dude give them some time! patience is a virtue.

Yeah, they’re really working at a strict pace here! We can’t expect them to pump out a single set of armor in less than 2 years, can we? That’s just absurd. We all know that normal teams would take at least 4 years to make it! They’re practically working at lightning speed here!

And you can produce armor sets with their engine faster?

They manage to pump out a gem store outfit every 2 weeks. Maybe if they dedicated half of the artists working on those to making legendary armor it wouldn’t have taken 2 years.

Now that they have the engine work done for animated armor, hopefully future sets of leg armor won’t take nearly as long. Though it does still take Anet an absurdly long time to make new armor sets

On legendary armor

OriOri.8724

This is tough to answer honestly. By far the hardest gate to legendary armor is the legendary insights, which only drop from raid bosses, and you need 150 of them to make an entire set of legendary armor.

The collections sure will take some time, but you can easily do those and gather the rest of the materials while collecting the legendary insights, so to me they are the biggest gate right now.

Currently, AFAIK (I don’t raid myself), you can only get up to 13 legendary insights (LI from now on) each week, 1 per raid boss. So, its a minimum of 12 weeks assuming you kill all bosses each week. However, this doesn’t take into account the amount of time you will need to spend practicing for each boss, and finding a reliable/static group to run with.

So, minimum of 12 weeks playtime currently. Possible in 4 hours a day? Yes, its technically possible. Is it likely? Well that depends on how good mechanically you are at the game, along with how geared up your character is (ie you might need to get a new set of gear for the class(es) you want to raid with). You could find that you are excellent at raids, and can kill all 13 bosses within the first week of starting. Or you might find that it takes you 1-3 months to get to the point of being able to kill all the bosses (or even longer depending on how quickly you can learn a fight and your class’ rotation).

This happens way too much to be coincidence.

As for LD, there are random groups of white mantle soldiers that just roam around the map. Its likely that you are pulling in one of those groups that you didn’t see by accident.
