@Pifil
I have a long list of QoL’s but honestly, these are my top 3 ! See I’m not greedy.
This one is a deal breaker
- PVE Build templates: This has been a community request since 2012, it should be a top priority if you really hope to sell X-pack 2 to anyone.
He clearly said that without these changes Anet wouldn’t be able to sell the expac to anyone
The retargeting idea is good but i wouldnt lower any dmg. Because of frequent shattering for dmg, stun and evade i would say it doesnt need any further balance. You can also apply this to clones.
Dont make them permanent thou, this would give balance issues.
Yea, I mentioned that and brought up the only ways I felt this could really be balanced. Though I would settle for having them not be permanent and just being able to retarget while in combat. That wouldn’t have to nerf their damage to be balanced, but it would go a long way towards making solo mesmer less miserable in PvE, which is the ultimate goal here.
@Ananeos – Exactly, the core design of mesmer is the root of the problem too.
I never understood why game companies were so hesitant to post that information.
But still the biggest changes I want to see are to never be ported to an instance that has already decided its going to close. That is infuriating and should never be happening
None of these would stop me from buying the next expansion if it didn’t include them, so please don’t pretend that you actually speak for everyone.
I agree that it could use a lot of improvements, probably most important would be the ability to try out other stat combinations.
From what I’ve heard it could also use some other improvements, such as offering a 40-50million health golem to better simulate an actual raid boss.
I haven’t noticed this on my mesmer.
Its not a persistent request for nerfs, its requesting that basic problems with mesmers design be addressed by Anet. The design of the class is kitten right now honestly, and it needs to be re-designed.
Now that you mention it, it does seem as if they haven’t been having as many guild chats lately
Too be fair, The Ascension is very simple to acquire, you play ranked games during the season and win X times on each class, doesn’t matter what rating u are. It can very casually be crafted, not to mention a decent chunk of gold to purchase t6 mats with by the time you complete the achievements, essentially allowing you craft the back piece upon completing the achievements. But I agree that more content should be added into the game via achievement than simply purchasing it.
Except not everyone is good enough at PvP to win matches. I know for a fact that whenever I play PvP, my team is carrying me and I’m 99% sure i’m the downfall of any matches we lose. That’s just the simple truth. I suck at PvP. It’s not casually acquireable for those who can’t PvP.
Well luckily for you, you now don’t have to win very many matches to get the backpack, but winning matches would make it more enjoyable. You do still have to win some, but not too many.
Its not about not needing to resummon them. The point is to increase our sustained damage and damage against multiple targets. Truthfully, since so much of our damage is tied up in phantasms, we are stuck with a kitten ramp up time needing to summon them to do anything in a fight. And then once the target dies, the phantasm despawns as well.
There’s no reason to cripple the class as a whole with such an awful mechanic.
Because sigils aren’t as big a part of your build as runes are
I disagree. It also takes up space for you to make additional weapons because of this limitation, which nihilates the purpose of Legendary Weapons completely IMO (and in others’ too).
/s
Here, you dropped this ^^^ when quoting me
It will be a temporary spike. It only spiked because a lot of people are trying to cash in on it quick, eithe rpeople who haven’t yet gathered the mats for leg armor, or people who are trying to gather as many aspossible , to then sell to people trying to craft leg armor.
And btw, your 21 gold “not a big spike” was about a 30% increase in spike, which is actually pretty noticeable, and in my opinion pretty sizeable. It only seems not that big because its just 20 gold, but its still quite noticeable nonetheless
Could be engis new elite spec. Someone on Reddit said that a new elite spec was teased in this trailer, and that’s the only character that really stood out
Nice try, except that the signet is not your only source of resistance. Not to mention, that poison should also be a counter to adrenal health, not just the healing signet, except that you still have ridiculously high condi clear and access to resistance.
Because sigils aren’t as big a part of your build as runes are /s
Hopefully this does get added to weapons though. Would be really nice, and now we know that Anet has the capabilities of doing it.
This is something that I’ve been thinking about for a while now, but I really think that phantasms should persist outside of combat. Or, at the very least, that if we are in combat with another target when their target dies, they can retarget until they are killed. If we went the second route, I think we could also change one of the traits in Illusions to make them persist outside of combat, but that wouldn’t be required.
This would, however, bring about a couple balance problems, especially in competitive game modes. Being able to open a fight with 3 berserkers attacking a new target in PvP or WvW simultaneously would be pretty OP in my opinion. In order to make this balanced, I think that the damage from phantasms should be lowered substantially and moved back to mesmer’s weapon skills, and that chronophantasma should be changed to something else. I don’t have any details/numbers for this atm, I just think that this is what would be required in order to keep this from being too powerful.
What do you guys think about this?
And @Ithilwen – Please no gut reactions of “I don’t trust Anet to make this balanced and not gut mesmer”. From a design standpoint do you think this would be better for the class to have phantasms be able to retarget if we are still in combat when their target dies (or even to persist outside of combat)?
So here’s the thing about making suggestions about the entire game at once, they can get really long, and not all parts of the suggestion are too closely related. And because of that, someone may read something they don’t like, and end up disagreeing with your entire suggestion (humans are just weird that way).
I would break your feedback up into several different threads, each one devoted to 1 topic (for instance, 1 on raiding, 1 on elite specializations, 1 on stats, and 1 more on your racial elite specializations idea). This way, not only would each one comfortably fit into a single post, it would give players a single topic to think about and give feedback on.
On the bright side, you can pick and choose which pieces you want to craft. And I would definitely craft at least several of those light armor pieces (if not all of them just for the convenience)
I’m not thrilled at the ridiculous cape on the light armor set. But overall the entire design looks very nice to me.
Exotic jewelery is superior in every way. Not only it’s modular in nature, which means more meaningful options and ability to fine tune your character. Even now they are used in builds that rely on maxing out boon duration. If they added agony slots to them I’d never NEVER take another glance at ascended stuff.
Implementation of ascended jewelery was the sloppiest dev job I’ve ever seen. Instead of following modular nature of exotic gear they just keep hardcoding the rigid stat combinations ad infinitum.
And for what? Knee jerk reaction to “People geared way too fast! Quick do something! Anything!”. Literally no thought went into making it.
I see what you did there
Yea, but now that leg armor is done, Anet has more artists/designers free to work on the remaining leg weapons, so we should start seeing the last 9 be released at a quicker pace than the last 4 were.
Here’s little info how much each heals gives
[Purple Miku.7032:
Healing
Comparisons between our heals to show how much hp/min you heal with them:
Healing Signet – 382 hp every 1 sec * 60 = 22,920 hp/min
Mending – 6520hp every 20 sec * 3 = 19,560 hp/min
To the limit– 9100 hp every 30 sec (with full adrenaline) = 18,200 hp/min
Defiant Stance – varies too much(1853 base)
To the limit has little use now due to the fact that adrenaline is lost quickly when not in combat. ]
Hot healing:Blood reckoning 3230hp/20 sec*3= 9260hp/minDidn’t he stop playing well before HoT during that epic content drought? Something worth noting though is that healing sig scales terribly while both mending and to the limit scale really well with healing power, especially the latter with vigorous shouts. I miss shoutbow.
Well, if you want to use healing for real then you will probably not take the signet as it only heals yourself. This also shows to me that there is something seriously wrong. A signet that heals you all the time without having the possiblity of being interrupted / not timed correctly should never result in more healing than the other available skills. The signet will always give you the maximum amount of healing whereas the other skills can be used too early / too late … which are disadvantages.
Well the counter to healing signet used to be keep poison on the warrior as it reduced the healing by a lot and short of using the signet or using zerker stance the warrior couldn’t do that much about it. Bearing in mind this was before HoT where warrior condition cleansing they had to mostly build for and run weapons that were support and not damage orientated, trooper runes, traited warhorn etc.
What HoT and berserker brought though was incredible condition clearing potential via cleansing ire and the insanely fast recharging of lvl 3 burst skills thus completely negating yet another balancing point.
To add, the advantages of a skill you use to heal is that it lets you wait out poison to heal at full and choose when to heal, this is a trade off for going HS which because of above is no longer a trade off.
Yea, poison doesn’t really work against a class with such ridiculous resistance uptime and condi cleanse at the same time.
Really? I thought the agony application didn’t quite cover the entire circle, but I could be wrong on that.
Too expensive for me, of course, that’s why I said I think it’s too expensive.
I’m a seasoned player, been here since the betas and I think it’s too expensive for crafting to be a practical option for creating exotic armour. I either get my exotics from the tp or some other methods, not crafting. Saying ArenaNet had put pricing in the hands of the players conveniently ignores that they created the current situation and then washed their hands of the matter.
what you said
There’s no reason to wait for almost 4 years after the game is out to make exotics an order of magnitude more expensive to craft if they wanted it to “take longer”. If that was the reason, it would have happened far before HoT.
HoT just kittened up the leather market. You won’t admit it, because you are making kittenloads of money off leather. But HoT did kitten up the leather. It added leather to almost every recipe you will ever craft, except it added leather in quantities that reflected the glut of millions of leather that were on the market prior to HoT, and was never adjusted to reflect when that supply dried up. This is the problem. The rate of acquisition of leather does not line up with the rate of consumption, not at all. And the price of it is clear evidence of that.
IDK HoT, while in a terrible state at launch, was developed in what, 1 year? And they have had nearly 2 years to work on the second expac already. Considering that they now know how much work is involved in an expac, along with they now know what the community really wants in terms of difficulty and grind, and also that this new expansion will be mostly content (so they won’t have to devote so much time to updating the engine and adding new features) I think they could be fairly close to done with development.
At least, I’m hoping that they are fairly close. I’m really hoping that we do get it around Q42017-Q12018.
He also pointed out that Lazarus is surrounded by what look like branded crystals. So being a champion of Kralkatorik is still a possibility and explains that aura.
I think he got that one wrong. Its almost certainly mesmer magic surrounding Lazarus in the trailer.
That’s too much in my opinion. Its already easy enough to skip content in PvE as a mesmer, giving us access to 15 seconds of stealth on a single skill is kind of ridiculous, even if it is PvE only
Contrary to some eager voices on the forums, we’re unlikely to get the expac before Q3 2018 anyway, so…
Season 3 would have to run for another cycle in that case. One of their goals was to reduce the downtime, not increase it.
Possibly. On the other hand Anet’s usual launch times are in Q3, and if the expac was going to be in 2017 we’d have heard something about it already. They may simply not be ready for 2017 launch, no matter how beneficial from marketing point of view it would be.
As much as I’d love to get the second expansion sooner rather than later, I do hope that Anet would push off the release until everything is ready and in a good state. They can even give us some filler patches that are mostly current events if they need to, but I don’t want the expansion to be released only for them to have to pull another “April patch” and finish implementing it/fixing a bunch of problems the community has with it due to it being rushed.
I do not know raids all that well but i have a feeling mobs do not block nor do they self boon a lot so my balance changes is to cut down on mobs passive def effects and make them more active with blocks and strong version of boons. This means classes who have means of dealing with these effects become more usefully in raids out side of just who ever has the best raw dmg effects. You could even have raid only boon corruption that are much stronger then the stander condi.
Please no more blocks on random mobs. Its very prevalent in LD with the white mantle clerics, and its just a PITA. In my opinion it doesn’t add to the difficulty of the fight, it just makes it drag on substantially longer if you can’t burst them down before they pop their 3 second block.
Well why not some skills do have unblockable for a reason just pure raw dmg should not win you boss fights.
Its fine on a boss, but for random mobs, having 3 sec long blocks doesn’t add to the encounter, it just artificially makes it take longer. There’s no added difficulty, just frustration, especially when it seems like 1/3 of the enemies are clerics who have a ridiculously long block, and half of the rest are mesmers who you have to kill twice.
Its interesting ideas, but the execution is lacking in my opinion, as it just makes fights take longer without making them more challenging. Just another form of a grind.
HYPE!!!!!!!!!!!!
well someones excited lul
Yup! I genuinely love the story in GW2 and am always excited at the chance to continue it further.
The trailer is 100% showing Rata Novus from numerous perspectives. I recognize the stairway. It’s just outside the Dragon Lab room, and inside the dragon lab room too (for the asura gate shot).
Quora Sum is one of the “six great underground citadel cities” of the asura that were overrun by Primordus and the destroyers when the Elder Dragon rose and forced the asura back to the surface after they attempted resettling the depths with the Great Destroyer’s death (Central Transfer Chamber was another such “great citadel city”). After 200 years, it’d be a molten mess by now.
Well, we do have Destroyers connected to the LWS3 storyline, as we have the discovery of an old, long forgotten Asuran city in HoT (Rata Novus). Why would it be such a stretch to see another one discovered, and who says they didn’t have similar architecture?
Besides, I don’t recognize that huge apparatus in the background of being part of the Rata Novus complex:
Well Taimi has been doing something, it could be something she invented. Or, more likely, we are exploring deeper into Rata Novus, and that’s why we haven’t seen it before
Considering this is the English forum, its fair to say that Americans are a fair number of the people who would be on here, and there would be very few Chinese citizens.
To what point?
As brought up in the other Lazarus identity thread, why hide his identity to the PC during Dragon Vigil if he were a good guy (like the guy who gave the Master of Peace the egg)?
There could be plenty of reasons to hide his identity. If someone is actually impersonating Lazarus (which I don’t believe yet, but I may soon be proved wrong), they clearly have a much bigger goal to accomplish than getting close to us and Aurene. There are plenty of other ways such a person could have gotten to Aurene and the commander if that was the only goal of impersonating lazarus. So if it is an impersonation, they have other goals, which means that depending on what they could be, it could have undermined the goals to have revealed their identity to the commander at that point.
Lol while a bit hyperbolic, you summed up the situation with leather pretty well in my opinion.
I wouldn’t expect anything for WvW in this patch honestly.
Back in the day, like 2002 in very early internal testing, the hit box was not standard, and one of our clever programmers made all sorts of tiny characters to enable him to avoid getting hit.
I do wonder if certain races actually do have greater agility for jumping puzzles. I’ve had people say “Make a norn, they have a better gait” where others have said, “My asura is way better at JPs than any of my other characters” and everything in between. Think there’s any truth in that?
I personally think that smaller characters make the best JP characters. I love the asura animations, but I still think that a minimum height sylvari is just about the perfect size to do JP. Its small enough to not have you fighting the camera too much, and still allows you to clearly gauge the edge of your hitbox and know when you’re about to fall off a platform.
I would eventually like jewerler to be expanded to 500, hopefully with the introduction of leg trinkets (no auras, just free stat swapping on them)
Core warrior is fine. Berserker just needs a few tweaks to it, like reducing range on arc divider and also making primal bursts count as T1 adrenaline skills.
IDK that second line, to me, just says that at that point in the episode we have strong reasons to suspect Lazarus may be an impostor, but still don’t know one way or the other.
I’m aware of Tyler’s posts, which if you read them don’t ever promise a 3rd borderlands map. I just wanted to clarify that nowhere in the polls did we say anything about creating a 3rd borderlands map, even though that is stated as a ‘fact’ over and over again on the forums.
Well thanks for waiting nearly a year to clarify Anet’s stance on this….
Whether you all ever intended to make a 3rd bl or not it was pretty clear at the time of the poll that the players were under the impression that they better vote to keep the dbl if they ever wanted to see a new map. Don’t try and act like Tyler’s reddit post had no impact on the decision.
Likewise, don’t try to pass this off as Anet’s fault that you guys literally made kitten up and started believing it. There was never any indication whatsoever that keeping DBL would mean a third borderland would be developed.
Why wouldn’t it be possible? Could be something like making it scale off condition damage instead of power damage, or removing the power damage from the skill but buffing the stacks of condis that it applies or something along those lines.
Looks like we’ll finally get to see what Rata Novus was hiding.
Hopefully Taimi used this time to make good on her Scruffy 2.0 plans: “Weapons! Lots of weapons!”
Honetly I won’t be surprised if we have to wait until the 2nd expansion to see it. We have seen little sign that she has actually been building Scruffy 2.0 beyond “I am still working on it” saying.
Though it would be interesting if Scruffy 2.0 reveal was actually Engineer 2nd Elite Spec reveal.
I could see that. I just feel like they wouldn’t have Lazarus attack RN without giving Taimi a means of defense. Asura don’t like having their experiments tampered with! =)
Hey now! Taimi can take care of herself, don’t you remember the end of Buried Insights?
Whenever SoS is defending DBL, that’s the one that gets queued. People love attacking us.
Honestly, I take way more falling damage trying to get out of the citadel of APL than going anywhere in DBL.
Both maps have their own charm, and it’s no harder to traverse DBL than APL, if you spend 2-3 hours running around it to learn it.
That’s the problem. People are lazy kittens, and they don’t want to go around learning a new map when they could just brainlessly follow a zerg on ABL
People have done the math Ayrilana, and there’s no way you are obtaining 40 T6 leather sections every hour through this farm.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/63f85n/data_salvage_results_of_7700_bloodstonewarped/
800 T6 leather sections salvaged from 7700 bloodstone warped hides. This averages out to about 25 T6 leather per stack.
This user salvaged 2000 bloodstone warped hides and got 166 T6 leather out of them. That averages out to about 21 T6 leather sections per stack of bloodstone warped hides.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/5t7d1u/possible_spoilers_salvage_rate_research_for/
This user salvaged 2000 bloodstone warped hides, annd received 200 T6 leather sections out of it. Averaging out to 25 T6 leather sections per stack of bloodstone warped hides.
The data is out there. You average about a 10% drop rate on T6 leather from a bloodstone warped hide. So if you are indeed obtaining 40 per hour, then you claim that you are obtaining 400 bloodstone warped hides per hour, every hour, through DR even. I certainly never obtained hides at that rate when I attempted the farm. Do I just have bad luck, or were your numbers inflated?
It’s what I’ve been getting but of course I’ve not done 7700 salvages.
Let so with 20 per hour and redo my numbers.
I’ve been averaging 20 an hour. There’s 24 hours in a day so that’s 480. Assume that there’s 10,000 players so that’s 4,800,000 hardened leather. Obviously you can’t expect players to farm for the entire 24 hours but there’s most definitely more than 10,000.
Buy listing volume is at 180K rounded up. If there’s 10,000 players farming, they’d only have to obtain 18 leather the entire day to fill all existing buy orders. If there were 5,000 players then they’d have to only obtain 36. If there’s only 2,500 then they’d only have to obtain 72 the entire day. So it is VERY much possible.
Actually, it didn’t really affect the second paragraph. So you didn’t really disprove what I said. I can go a step further with the first paragraph and assume that a player only earns 1 hard leather per hour and farmed for 24 hours. With 10,000 players doing this, that’s 240K which is more than what’s currently showing for buy order volume. You’d only need 7,500 players doing it to break even.
lol @ “only”
says we’d need 3/4ths of 10,000 ppl to do something and then uses the word “only”
Not to mention, this doesn’t factor in DR that affect the farm at all. So you can expect the first hour to go fairly well for players, and then the amounts of leather collected will drop dramatically.
HYPE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Shroud’s job is not being power or condi, but to provide tools for multiple types of builds. Because no matter what you’ll build, you’re always getting the same shroud after pressing F1. So it needs to have tools for every occasion, often supplemented for a given purpse with traits (like dhuumfire for condi).
I actually disagree that shroud needs skills that could mesh with either condi or power damage, especially now that we have reaper out (which means that, theoretically at any rate, you could have 1 shroud devoted towards power builds and 1 shroud devoted towards condi builds). I think it would add a lot more flavor if shroud was either or, and which traits you took affected this. So individual traits could actually fundamentally change some shroud skills instead of just outright adding new effects to them. This way you could trait into a power focused shroud, or into a condi focused shroud.
Alright, after thinking about all of the discussion here, new proposal for Mesmer elite skills
Time Warp – Just reduce it to 90 second CD, 8 second base duration. This is taking some inspiration from apharma. Lower cooldown, but also lower duration to allow for more “targeted” application of the skill. However, at this moment, I couldn’t agree with just a 5-6 second base duration, it felt much too short to be an elite skill to me.
SoH – Keep transformation duration at 6 seconds, reduce the base cooldown to 100 seconds. In fact keep the skill exactly the same as it is now, just reduce the base cooldown
MI – Add a 5 second, 300 radius reveal centered around you when you finish the cast. Keep everything else the same (and again, ideally this would be accompanied by a nerf to PU to where it would only increase stealth duration by 33% instead of 50%, since I think stealth access needs toning down)
Gravity Well – Just increase the radius by 40 units, otherwise the skill is fine in my opinion.
And like before, I would want CS to be changed to not affect our elite skills, and for that change to go into effect at the same time as these changes go into effect.
(edited by OriOri.8724)
Not all 400 of them are programmers. Some are designers, some are story writers, some are artists, some work on the music, some on other sound in the game etc…
A much better number would be a breakdown of how many people at Anet are devoted to programming, and how many of those are devoted to the second expansion versus devoted to the game right now (ie LWS3 teams, raid teams, fractal team, WvW team, PvP team, current events team and any other teams I missed).
