I have decided to to go with energy/doom combo on sceper/pistol since i had the sigils lying around in the bank, using zerker GS with air/fire till i get some gold to craft a sinister staff and every other piece of equipment other than that is sinister.

I’ll go with the suggested food and potions

I used to believe that thieves were untouchable until i started playing one proved it wasnt so and quite enjoyed and frequently play it recently. Why don’t you try to play the class and come up with your own conclusion how to counter it instead of senselessly complaining here?

MtD variants seems ideal since all my shatters will be even more powerful
that leaves the domination points that I could shuffle around

how about runes and sigil choices?

Edit: how would Greatsword fair compared to staff in this set up?

I just finished crafting a full set of Sinister armor and accessories but have not decided on Weapons, Sigils, Runes, Utilities and trait distribution.

What would you recommend I’d fill those with? (disregard cost)
Maybe share your experience running something similar!

I hope I could gain more perspective on different ways available to run this spec since I’m not so creative with mesmer!

Both Engineer and Ranger have a good access to Vigor just need to trait more for it and they usually do.
Warrior gets signet of stamina, Warhorn 5, Converted bleeds into vigor and Traited stances

my idea it kittenallenging

1. make the skill cleanse conditions on your foe . with each condition you cleanse you do 500 dmg (as for now the average dmg of the skill is 1k)

the average conditions proc is about 4 so if you cleanse 4 you can do 3k dmg with condi gear. with zerk gear you can do around 6k. with hybrid you will do 5k

also it will punish emeny for not cleansing so you can even stack unimportant conditions like signet of spite and use this skill for massive dmg spike

down side you have to play smartly and dont just spamm it then your conditions wont do their things

but its the only life force generator skill on the weapon set…limiting its use like that might not turn out so well

I felt the meta PS D/P wasnt cutting too well so I switched it to 2/0/6/0/6 and pack runes

served me well

also thanks for mentioning the water field from ranger to help heal the lord a bit, totally escaped me. i have to try this :p

Warrior sprint? warrior has the best access to swiftness through traits, warhorn, and SoR right next to engi. highly unlikely to happen also

Even necro has good access to swiftness through traits and warhorn (perma swiftness) and spectral skills, also have the 25% speed increase with signet. Still it seems slow.

Necro has no mobility whatsoever unlike warrior to make use of the ever so scarce swiftness and the crappy active effect of the locust sig not that it makes much of a diffrence.

Warhorn is not just a utility skill for swiftness, it isa huge life force generation tool, helps with added cripple to stay on the target for dagger auto attacks since necromancer lacks gap closers on weapon sets. The weapon is an option only on power builds. The skill can actually put you in combat when running around.

Only one spectral skill gives swiftness and it a stun break on 60 seconds cooldown. would be a waste to use for mere swiftness unlike SoR.

now compare this to the almighty warrior warhorn which i’d kill to have it on a necro along with its traits, Furious Speed/Reaction if you use arms ( at least I do use it) and a readily available warrior sprint on a adept trait that most warriors take and is even being merged with one of my most favorite traits on warrior, mobile strikes. yeah I totally would go into blood magic and use two daggers for similar effect on a master trait.

If you want to see how slow warrior is take a look at the ridiculous kiting and mobility in the I Exy I and Vaanss duels and how effective fast hands make a rotation. baseline? no thanks!

they are all bad except corrupt boon which is still “meh”. would not be worth using over another spectral/well/wurm if it weren’t for the abundance of aoe boons flying about

really they do not live up to their supposed theme and their effectiveness is questionable at best

Thief isnt really forgiving in general but it can be built to be so and still kill you.

Ranger is too specialized in what it does cant have it both

unyielding blast
path of corruption

the first two should for sure be baseline since spiteful marks will be gone and unyielding blast cant really compete with the other two traits in that tier not by a long shot, not with that functionality buff alone

PoC is a necro theme flavor thingy to corrupt so why cant we have it by default? maybe it sounds silly i know

Really guard buffs removed? why not just make everything based off of amulet just like the stale pvp mode? WvW is great because it allows for character customization including stats.
