I like to commander snipe with another condi necro and a mesmer.

down someone in the sub squad of the enemy commander’s (can tell by movement) and when he goes for a rezz double gravity well and double well of corruption will do the job of either getting them killed or run over by the allied melee train. poor commander does not see it coming.

Please make me immune to traps :’(

I imagine it might help to run trooper runes if you dont run shrouded removal and also with full shouts bar

and Necros? toss a rope at them?

Sunless runes are pretty sweet so I can improve my chances of using wings/shield when pressured after RF.
I also recommend that you pierce someone with the spear before using RF and then you can turn on Torch 4 for the unblockable burn which when combined with the spear’s passive tether burns will stack a good chunk and then sunless proc will fear and poison so the burn ticks can counter pressure while you do your thing

with carrion Torch 4 throw if pre-casted with JI and intel sigil active will deal some sweet power damage on squishys

for heals you can run LoW but I personally prefer Shelter cuz it can proc Hunter’s Fortification and I can turn on torch 4 for people who are following me so i can keep the pressure up even when i am blocking .

I like Purging Flame on someone downed especially when everyone will rush to rezz but Smite condition is also an option and can deal quite some damage if you proc it with intel sigil.

I still think the Core Deadshot burn burst guardian is better if you have the support to cover your rear. Virtue of Justice is much better than the spear imo but everything else is worse.

They did nerf it because someone posted footage of using the build to solo a raid boss not because the community posted 1000 vids of it over and over again on youtube in action in WvW.

took damage? what damage is that? 1 skullcrack and random burns? maybe try adding a second mace burst in short succession…. you call that damage? even a necro could tank so little damage from a macebow who just spams bursts while the guy has not blown any of their condi removals yet. or was the macebow expecting to burst the druid down in one half baked rotation?

besides none of those were 1vs1 or proper teamfight where you would get a teammate to help focus him down. all those fights were in the druid’s favor so you cant say druid’s sustain is op but more like outgunned, out-rotated and out-kited

class changes please? no? dull meta everywhere? more viable builds maybe? still no? ok.

lets do Living Story and then be off back to other worthwhile games.

you should start by asking for some of the previous nerfs reversed and fitting the hammer trait somewhere else other than discipline grandmaster.

Lets hope it stays that way for a good long while now.

I seem to only kill thief on power necro duo to everything proc-ing below 50% hp (suffer, chill of death, chilling nova, fire, air, spiteful spirit+ death’s charge random swings and getting stuck in place with immob) which sometimes can surprise them

or Ghastly Claws surprise

otherwise i dont feel like it were my skill that killed the thief when i play power necro.

Decapitate has a more obvious animation, longer cast time, crappy cleave even if its better than mace cleave, leap vs blast finisher and the skills on the weapon besides the burst skill all suck.
auto attack has the damage loaded into the end of the chain, skill 2 and 3 are just there to be spammed with no real utility. yeah axe was well designed.
the higher stats outside of pvp can make the burst skill damage compensate a bit but in pvp it is kinda hard to overlook the defense and utility mace offers over axe.
blind, block, cc spam , blast finisher ,can bury poison from doom under a pile of trash and ok damage vs damage? that isnt enough compromise to favor axe in pvp even if it were a power build

Match making is at fault for stacking classes (lol double mes/teef vs triple DHs) but I doubt it can be fixed with a pvp population this small and limited queue to solo or duo.

DH counters have been constantly eating nerfs and especially rev is not as popular anymore (thankfully) especially with so many thieves and condichronos running around to discourage it more which DH can counter so go figure…

I think the class is fine right now since their build diversity is looking good now ranging from all meditrapper variants (LB/Ham/GS)+Sword/x, Symbolic with either marauder to menders, fulltrapper yolo cancer, Burn DH/Guard with their variants depending on traitlines taken and support guard.
You would have to figure out what is the person running which is something I enjoy since HoT basically waged holy war on build diversity.

I like seeing build diversity spread around to other classes too. More new natural counters will emerge then.

Well for now roll engi/druid/ele and enjoy making that DH useless as long as you dont faceroll and expect a baked cake for it.

burn DHs are easy to kill if you see them coming and could figure out the traits they ran/sacrificed.

Remember to dodge their spear or break it if they attach it to you and then only dodge/reflect the torch throw as the passive burn will be on cooldown for a while and their pressure is suddenly gone. also note that they will have less stunbreaks and stab than the normal power DH so locking them down or putting them on heavy focus fire will melt them fast.

anything works in open world pve, even staff mesmer.

moreover, axe is our only ranged power weapon, necro staff is just a utility weapon so there is no comparison.

use whatever is fun for you but that doesnt mean that axe is not in need of buffs

weakness, soft cc, ranged weapons, minions.

yes open world pve is easycheesy on necro but slow dps and non-existent mobility is not gonna be fun for long

I do agree with the assessment the OP provided, it reflects my current opinion of the game today.

The GW2 of today doesn’t feel like the one I and friends used to enjoy and play hours in and hours out…You could say the charm and allure it used to have for us is just a pile of embers on a lake now. This is of course MY personal feelings about it but that does not mean that some other players don’t like the current stat of the game or that the game is a total wreckage train.

I enjoy commander focusing/corrupting on my necro. the salty whispers are worth it

Power necro never had a place to begin with; not in pre-HoT dungeons/fractals and certainly not after in raids but fractal groups nowadays seem more flexible than before so…

power necro can’t compete for dps slots, even non-meta builds like power engi are more worthy of the slot

brings almost no utility or unique buffs even with blood magic traited

brings no boon support that isnt already covered better by other meta picks

deathshroud even works against your pug healer trying to heal u. a class mechanic that everyone is so envious of that locks you out of utlities and healing….thanks but I’d give up in an instant to u if given the chance

it doesnt matter what buffs power necro receives to its worthless power weapons or outdated damage traits, it will not compete for that dps role slot. ele/thief/guard and even rev would always be a better pick.

people already know all of this, it has never changed since release so stop asking for power necro buffs it wont happen. you would only hold your group back by rolling power necro. there is nothing for you to offer and might as well just sell the last spot instead of using power necro

You would only use power reaper for cosmetic purposes and to look pretty to gaze at standing afk in DR.
roll an ele and obey the meta.

there is no reason to get better at this game’s pvp since HoT’s release and seeing how toxic the community in PvP has become.

Raid Themed Gliders drop/purchase

Drop a random HoT map rune/sigil from bosses. cap of 2 runes and 2 sigils weekly from each boss

Raid Themed Limited Use Harvesting Tools (much like old BL Harvesting Tools)

Raid Themed Finishers

Raid Themed Tonics

Raid themed Outfits dropping

Raid merchant summon contract

Raid portal contract

Random Toxic Oils from kills with a weekly cap of say 10 per type. get a bonus if you dont have an oil buff at the start and through out of the boss fight

Random Masterful Writs from kills with a weekly cap of say 5 per type. get a bonus if you dont have an oil buff at the start and through outof the boss fight. sometimes i get lazy people or incredibly poor/cheap to use a proper oils.

Item drop that grants Perma movement buffer inside raid instances much like the guild one. Does not matter if active while in combat/boss encounter or not. yes my group cant stack swiftness, fmr?

Item that prevents Armor from being damaged in raids. yes im that lazy

my guild runs 3 mesmers, 2 use a very similar build except its minstrel gear instead of commander’s and sometimes even using well heal (good group heal and cleanse) and replacing blink with Nullfield/MoC when needed

the build takes some skill and team coordination with your group to pull off

dont take your eyes/camera off the DH so you would know which trap was placed by the animation and where it was placed

for example you dont want to trigger the heal trap

this needs an update and a clap

there are a few variants of condi engi running around nowadays and almost all of em are lethal if you tank too many of their skills plus the passive 2 stacks of burn.
so which one variant was causing you trouble?
was it a normal engi?
was it scrapper?
were they using shield or pistol off hands?
which kits were they using?
etc

Short answer is no, just use the meta build.

It serves little to no purpose to go with that combination as you wont be capping might on anyone unless you modify the build a bit. Even then you’d only use something like this for open world group content and for your personal pleasure. In instanced 5 man content in pve the pug groups would kick you for something like this.

only thing necro got is double useless health bars that everyone and their grandma are so envious of, condition manipulation and a crap ton of corruption that doesnt do anything to things without boons like most PvE mobs
