I was trying to imply I got to play Fresh Air when it was first introduced with no cooldown and the change to be is nothing new and also this was not as long gone and forgotten as beta.
Now no one said anything about Necromancers and how it was before the official release so begone and let my Necromancer drown in silence.

lets see here…on top on the aids pile inflected from a single auto attack/bomb on dodge, the blocks, immobs, cc to push you out of refuge/BP combo engi gets a whole trait line to counter stealth and equipping Utility Goggles makes it even more entertaining
First: Reactive Lense: auto utility goggles proc on blind to prevent blind for 10 seconds>Second: Lock On:Analyze on hit for 6 seconds of revealed+vulnerability(extra condi/direct damage)> Third: Kinetic Charge: Recharge the next toolbelt skill you use instantly after evading an attack (20 seconds cooldown) and the skill is likely going to be a THIRD access to analyze.
boils down to a grand total of 25 vulnerability stacks to make sure you melt to conditions or direct damage, 18 seconds reveal on 20 cooldown bloody crazy uptime, 20 seconds of fury , 20 seconds of blind immunity.
best of luck slotting in shadow refuge or trying to rezz something! it wont matter if the thief gets the reveal proc or the poor sod getting rezzed with a pinned down location.
well…I think medi guardian doesnt sound much like a hardcounter anymore compared to the thief’s new hardcounter.

at least chill still has the secondary effect of slowing the recharge of skills but now cripple if worthless in comparison
would be nice if it had a secondary effect like: reduce invulnerability frames time from dodge, dodging costs more endurance, dodging deals small self damage or it now stacks and each stacks reduces the effectiveness of movement skills….

I don’t play S/D thief to give extra tips to counter it aside from marking shadow returns on both shadow steps and sword skill 2. Also try fighting near the sword 2 shadow return point.
a good S/D would have a hard time losing to necromancers due to slow casting and slow auto attacks, the sheer mobility and being able to deplete your LF with hit and run tactics till you are stripped of defenses and cooldowns.

your first fear did not miss. it landed but your luck was as rotten as a necromancer’s corpse since his EB(pet takes 3 conditions every 10 seconds) activated at that moment. check his spider for terror damage ticks in the vid.
he is likely running 4/4/6/0/0
the ranger also had a useless signet of stone.
now signet of the hunt is not that useful without a GS to make maul a killing blow on the active. even then it isnt as useful as the other 3 signets. for kiting purposes, LB has enough tools to kite and sword/dagger for ranger is an evade and kite set. also every power ranger should get swiftness (and fury depending on traits) on weapon swap to help kite.
signet of renewal would have changed how his battle would have ended with you. it cures 1 condition from the ranger AND the pet every 10 seconds. its active fully cleanses the ranger by having the pet pull all conditions from allies in the area. also breaks stuns. along with EB thats 4 conditions every 10 seconds. its more than enough for a ranger to kill a condi necro but even without it it is possible. the ranger played his cards poorly.
signet of the wild might have also been a game changer since the active gives the ranger and pet stability, damage and movement speed boost. you had no corrupt boon to counter it. passive is a minor health rejuvenation for ranger and pet.
those choices are far superior to hunt signet
i think you might already know this but if a ranger entangles u u better use ds 2 to port to them before u try to transfer the condis since more than likely if they got a wolf on swap they will have it fear u for a deadly combo. ds2+ds3>transfer/heal
about the pig, it has two items it can spawn, stealth/blind item and a plasma for all boons. pet is generally useless after

Signet of the hunt is a passive movement speed signet with a bad active
if you see a ranger running it it is likely a free kill. Rangers got some of the best signets in the game and that one chose not to slot something better.

Thanks alot for posting. a few things worth mentioning
You have an interesting choice of sigils on staff. I’d personally choose Geomancy/energy/doom/corruption/Incapacitation. moving corruption to staff can open a slot for sigil of earth on scepter or w/e sigil you want to use instead
Guardians gain might whenever they block an attack
you should run PoC instead of lingering curse against guardians since their retal damage will pile up over time along with the burning especially when you auto attack on scepter for too long. corrupting retal nets 3 confision stacks which could deal good damage if they are spamming scepter auto attacks. You could use it to counter their opener with Shield of wrath by dodging their blind then hit them once for them gain might so you could corrupt it into weakness. Guardians wont dodge when they got blocks up or when channeling their burst skills. Dark Path is unblockable same as Corrupt Boon so it will get through the shield and also shelter. PoC is great at making medi guards use up their cooldowns quicker under pressure
Greater marks is a game changer for a terrormancer against gardians if you choose to spec for it. You could reduce staff cd, interrupt shelter, hit through Shield of Wrath and bypass Aegis with staff marks
Ray of Judgment focus 4 skills is a tracking bouncing projectile that blinds the target foe and grants regen and cure 1 condition for each bounce to friendly targets. It can be cast from far away before the guardian ports in on you to receive the benefits and make it harder for you to counter their shield of wrath on time. be wary of the blind especially when you try to cast slow unblockable skills.
if you get hit by binding blades you can sometimes use the terrain to make the pull fail to drag you all the way to the guardian. some sneaky guardians use it after whirling wrath to hide the binding blades with WW’s projectiles.
save your condi transfers for immobilize skills like hammer’s Zealot’s Embrace and Chains of Light since guardians rarely try to dodge after those skills since they set up their bursts. you can choose to transfer virtue of justice’s active or Judge’s intervention long burn procs.
Mark of evasion IMO is bad and could easily be replaced with something more useful like dagger mastery,path of midnight or staff mastery
There are so many variations of medi guardian which could determine your top priority boons to corrupt. it is usually retal and aegis but if they run stability on Virtue of Courage it might be the game changer for how you react. Some dont even run Absolute Resolution to cure 3 condition on resolve’s active.

grab your poison master ranger in condi gear and set on a treb….some poor sods wont like the 450+ poison ticks. I love those in EoTM with the poor uplvl’ed zergs xD
or if you like burns grab a condi guard and trait for higher damaging burns for oil and mortars.

That still does not take away from the importance of such a discussion. The class is in need of a few minor changes; some QoL issues to resolve, a handful of traits to merge/remove/relocate and…pets….
No one here is going to moan and cry for a faster weapon swap and a permanent movement speed increase. Actually there are flows in the new trait design that needs discussing and feedback to devs before they go live is going to help it.

I dont think Ranger needs much to be made baseline more like trait relocation, made minor, merged or removed
heres what I personally think about it
remove: Instinctual Bond and Predator’s Instinct: too long a cooldown and worthless functionality. no one would miss those im sure
merge: Healer’s Celerity and Trapper’s Defense: both support rezzing and yet in two different traitlines
relocate: two handed training and honed axes: both are in a trait line that supports pets
the grandmaster traits in Wilderness Survival need to be moved around a bit or one made minor
baseline: I’ll be greedy and go with Fortifying Bond

Honestly, it doesn’t matter whether phantasms are affected or not, or whether it’s actually ferocity or if it’s actually damage. Think about it.
In order to reach the full stacks, we need 5 casts every 8 seconds. Making this into a decimal gets us .625 casts per second. MoP can provide 3 casts every 6 seconds on its own, so that gets us .5 casts per second. The next lowest cd mantra is the heal mantra, at 10 seconds. This gets us another 3 casts every 13 seconds, for another .230 casts per second. This brings us up to.755 casts per second in total.
So, in order to maintain full stacks of our buff, we will need to do literally nothing but spam MoP and MoR. Now and then we might be able to get one autoattack off, but that’s about it.
Ultimately, the particulars of how this trait works are completely irrelevant. In order to use the trait itself, you have to basically stop playing mesmer, and start playing some new class Anet has invented called ‘The mantra spammer’. You can do literally nothing but spam mantras if you want to maintain your buff.
Once again, I’d like to call attention to the fact that in order to maintain a 20% damage boost, warriors need to press F1 (which does a lot of damage) once every 10 seconds. In order to maintain a 20% damage boost…thing, mesmers have to completely shut down everything they’re doing except for pure upkeep of that buff.
This trait honestly might take the cake for most insulting and poorly designed trait of all time, even over disruptor’s sustainment. That trait was just amusingly bad, and sorta made you wonder what they were possibly thinking when they made it. This trait very clearly tells you what they were thinking:
“We want to give mesmers something to help them do more damage, but we don’t want it to be strong, because we’re too scared of what they might do to give them anything half-way decent. So, we’ll give them something that in theory can reach the potential of this trait that warrior gets, but instead of just letting them use it, we’re going to lock it behind the clunkiest and least-balanced set of skills in the game: mantras.”
